Our A/C system was just not able to adequately cool the house during this year’s heat wave. Our system was 12 years old so I already knew that the A/C unit was probably nearing the end of its life and I wanted to get recommendations on repair vs. replacement. I had 2 companies come and do estimates and chose Top Notch over the other company for several reasons. I like the fact that Top Notch is a family owned business. I was also very pleased with the thoroughness and attention to our needs that Matt, the sales consultant, gave to our situation. He explained our options and promptly provided a written and thorough estimate with several choices. He also explained that he was confident that our current system was repairable and what his guess on the cost would be so he in no way was pushing us into a new system. He also explained that even though the A/C unit was nearing the end of its life, it looked like the heater was in great shape and I could just replace the A/C if I wanted. The point I'm trying to make is that Matt thoroughly explained all my options even though some of those option would produce less income for Top Notch. They really seem to care about providing the best solution for us. We ended up deciding on complete replacement with a high efficiency system (hence, the high cost) and we could not be happier with this system. Part of the deal was to clean the ducts before installation. While that process is a little messier than I expected, the guys did a great job and I’m glad we had it done. They got a fair amount of gunk out. The initial install was a couple of days later. Because of the heat wave, we agreed to have them get just the A/C installed and they would come back to finish the heater and humidifier install a short while later. The guys doing the install were excellent. They ran into a couple of glitches but they dealt with them and got the system running as soon as they could. A few weeks later they came back and finished the heater and humidifier install. When choosing the route for the piping they were very, very considerate of our desire to not adversely impact the possibility of refinishing the basement. They came up with choices and even though it might not have been the easiest solution, they did the one that worked best for us. They did a fantastic job and we are very pleased with the install. We highly recommend Top Notch.

I had a humidifier that I wasn't sure was working, he checked it out and said it was working just fine. Through his honesty, he didn't replace that working humidifier. He installed the Lennox humidifier at the other end of the house and it has worked fine.

We purchased their air conditioner tune up promotion through Angie's List for $49 and were very happy with the service provided. The gentleman that came out to service our air conditioner was prompt, thorough, polite and knowledgeable; he also went above and beyond to point out some things about our system we weren't aware of and have made our system run better/more efficiently. I noticed a difference in the performance of our air conditioner that same night and that has continued throughout the past few weeks. We will continue to you this company for our heating and air conditioning needs in the future.

The dispatcher was very easy to work with and very accommodating. It was over 100 degrees outside and over 85 degrees inside. She was especially nice in that she got a service man over to the house as soon as I got home in the evening, rather than waiting until the next day. The service man, Shawn, was very nice. He just went to work checking all the routine things, changing the filter, spraying off the air conditioning unit, etc. In about 45, he had everything working and the house started to cool down. It has been great ever since. I used an Angie's list coupon and signed up for the VIP service. That is why the price seems high - it includes service in the fall as well. I had used Top Notch one other time a few years ago and had the same experience - good service on the phone and smart and professional workmen at the house.

Service was prompt and timely despite what must be a very busy time due to extremely hot summer. Larry was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions. Most important, he fixed our main concern which was our very warm upstairs level. Damper to upstairs was closed! We haven't been in the house long and hadn't become familiar the the dampers. Now we know. Life is good again! Thanks Top Notch!

Everything went very well. Our family is undergoing an ongoing medical emergency with our daughter, so it was good to have someone who kept to the agreed upon time schedule. He knew exactly what to do to keep everything running efficiently!

Service, as always, was very good. I have been a customer of Top Notch for 15 years and have always been satified with the service. I purchase a contract each year for two checkups per year, one in spring and one in fall. I think the price for the contract in very reasonable. As I have already paid my yearly fee, I marked the price of this service as $0.

I called to schedule my annual ac tuneup and maintenance. I was given a variety of dates and times that fit my schedule. The tech showed up on time and introduced himself. He put on shoe protectors before entering the house and checked both of my ac units inside and out. He said everything checked out fine and suggested a new air filter in the Fall. He explained everything he checked and showed me everything was fine. I couldn't be more pleased with how the service went and highly recommend Top Notch. Their service lives up to their name. I called Top Notch to come out and check our a/c as it was not cooling. There had been a very warm spell and they were busy. I totally understood when they told me they may not get to me until the next morning, but they would try to get me that day. I got a phone call around 4:30 asking if it would be alright if they came in the morning. I was perfectly fine with that. The technician showed up at 8:30 as promised. After a quick look he told me he would have to do a pressure test to check the coolant level and to look for leaks. I was fine with that as well. There was a leak in the coil in the air handler and the coil would need to be replaced and coolant added. He did give a quote of $1574. He said that because the unit used the R12 coolant that if it sprang another leak the coolant was no longer being manufactured and there would be a limited supply and the price of coolant was probably going to double. I had something similar before and wasn't questioning that. He made the suggestion of replacing the a/c all together and gave an estimate of $4455. I told him I would have to discuss this with my husband who was unavailable at the time. I have no issue with the work the work itself. I thought the estimate was a bit high though. And I did call for another estimate and got a better deal. My only complaint is with the technician's attitude. He gave the impression that I was making him go out of his way to do his job. I understand people have bad days, and I truly hope that was the case because if he is like that everyday, he is not to doing that company any favors.

Mike at Top Notch was very professional. He came out and spent a long time looking over our HVAC system. He gave us an estimate for an Arzel electronic zoning system. His estimate was by far the lowest for this system. We decided to go with a cheaper, mechanical zoning system (as opposed to the nicer pneumatic Arzel system). However, we definitely would have used Top Notch if we had gone with the Arzel. They offered the best price and were very easy to work with. I would highly recommend.

Very well. They did a nice job and we are pleased with the work and price.

They were prompt and honest about some problems they were going to encounter with our service. They informed me that because of the older vent system we have in our house doing the job appropriately would tear paint off around the vents (we have old fashioned wall vents). Due to this problem I opted to only have them do a partial job which was fine. I have two complaints. The most important is they didn't clean up after they did their job. There was dust bunnies and dirt in front of several of the vents and the basement, although unfinished and not the cleanest, was even dirtier than when they started. Also, the employees were not very friendly.

Our air conditioner stopped working and we heard it do something very strange late at night. The next day we called Top Notch and they were here within a few hours. There was one part of the condenser which needed to be replaced and they were able to do that immediately.

They showed up first thing in the morning when they said they would. They were very careful with all of their equipment, covering all floors and services to prevent damage. We've had our a/c & furnaces serviced twice a year for the past 10 years by different providers and Top Notch actually pointed out things to us that none of the others had ever shown us. We were very impressed with Top Notch and signed up for their yearly maintenance plan.

From problem notification, through scheduling, and resolution, the timeframe was short, and effective.

I was given a 5 hour window in which they would arrive. I felt that this was an excessive amount of time. Care and consideration was given by the repairman. Appeared to be very knowledgeable and took the tme to give lessons on the furnace.
