Top Notch Heating Cooling & Plumbing

This was our second winter in this house and we had found that low humidity was a problem for the wood furniture and floors. The service person arrived on time and installed the new equipment. After a discussion on proper operation and maintenance, he was ready to leave in less than an hour. We're now into our second heating season and the humidifier has worked perfectly. We're completely satisfied and will use Top Notch again in the future.

He came out in a short time and checked everything out. Did a good job, found no major issues.

They were very helpful, tried to make it work but in the end I changed my mind, however they were very understanding.

After responding to a "big deal" offer advertised on Angie's List, I call the company to arrange for installation. This was approximate the first week in October. The lady on the phone booking the work appointment said it would be 6 weeks before they could do the work. I stated that I could not wait that long. She found a time 2 weeks earlier to book the appontment. When the day came, I recieved a call and voice mail that the work needed to be rescheduled due to the volume of work for their clients that had service ageements. I call and rescheduled the work 2 days later than originally scheduled. The day of the work the worker's call me in advance, as agreed to let me know they were on their way. We met at the house, and they went to work. I asked them to call when they were getting close to completed, so I could inspect their work and ask any questions I might have about the new humidifier equipment. I never received that call. when I arrived home I discovered the install invoice/paperwork, which noted by the place where I would have signed off "owner not home" Well, duh! That's why I asked them to call. Never got one. So, I have a humidfier that works, some paperwork owner's manual material, and some work related chips of some sort littered on my basement floor. If I had simply been contacted, I would have felt the service was an A. But given the hurry this team seems to be in right now, I give them a B- The unit works fine, but I would have appreciated a little more attention to detail on area cleanliness, and customer relations after the install.

The service technician arrived on time and was very polite. In addition to the winter furnace maintenance special we received from Angie's List Deal of the Day, we were also able to take advantage of a spring a/c maintenance special. The service technician was very knowledgable and professional. We had a wonderful experience with Top Notch Heating & Cooling and look forward to doing business with them in the future.

Fairly well as far as I can tell. Although, I was expecting the to "scrub" the ducts with a mechanical brush, not just blow them out with a high pressure fan and vacuum. Next time, I'll verify exactly what process would be used.

I started working with Top NOtch almost 2 months ago while house SHOPPING to have an estimate done on replacing the HVAC system in my new home. I received a free, detailed estimate for full replacement with three different options (with a good range of prices included) promptly and because of several complicating factors was in touch with the owner, Mike, via email regularly. I had originally planned to wait to replace the system until it actually broke, but was so impressed with Top Notch, the rebate they advised me was around (for only a short time from the manufacturer) and the information they provided me about how regional efficiency standards were changing in 2013 that I could change the price of my estimate I decided to proceed now instead of later. They were willing to work around my schedule (spreading out the instillation over 2 days to allow for some additional work in the same space from another contractor) and were clean, professional, timely and responsive. The project was installed and completed on time, as described, and to my satisfaction. I dropped in and out several times over the instillation process and felt completely comfortable with the guys in my home while I was gone - which hasn't always been the case with other companies. I have an elderly dog which I had originally planned to kennel for the process but the workmen were willing, able, and even seemed happy to have him "roam free" instead - which made the dog more comfortable. From start to finish, from emailing with the owner, to working with the scheduler, to meeting the guys on the "front line", I could not be happier with my Top Notch experience and honestly wish the same company offered additional services I need done on my house so that I could work with them again. I would/will recommend Top Notch to anyone, for any HVAC/plumbing job.

The serviceman arrived right on time. He was courteous and took the time to explain to me what was needed for the heater and why it would be a good idea to deal with these issues at this time. I felt that the price was fair for the work that was performed.

They said that they couldn’t do the work for the Big Deal (or air duct cleaning, in general) because my furnace and water heater are in the closet on the first floor. They said would have cut a hole in the furnace to complete the work. I requested a refund from Angie's List.

No work was done because they did not have the equipment necessary to clean our particular type of duct work.

Prompt, courteous and picked up after job.

They were very good and polite. They were responsive. They just have a huge volume of work so they are unable to accommodate everyone's needs in a reasonable amount of time.

I called right away after I purchased the deal. After waiting on hold, they advised that they do not service Independence MO.

They were on time. It went well. I would use them again.

He made some recommendations for additional service but no pressure. I was very pleased with the purchase.

My wife was actually the person that was there for the service, and she was very impressed with his work and customer service. He walked her through the duct work and showed her the duct levers, inspected and clean the furnace, and inspected (and condemned) the humidifier and gave her helpful advice on the filter housing that did not have a track or boot installed. He was helpful in discussing options for the humidifier as well as provided an estimate for repair. He took the serial numbers so that he could provide a more exact estimate once he returned to his office. We are definitely ready for the winter now!

They came out when they said they would. I was in the hospital that day and did not get a chance to talk to the technician. I wanted them to check the furnace flue as we just purchased the house and our inspector said we should get that checked. I called Top Notch on Monday or Tuesday (9/17 or 18) and explained how I was in the hospital the day they came and cleaned the furnace. I asked if they routinely inspect the flue or how much it would be to have them come back out and check to see that my furnace was flued correctly. The woman I spoke with said she would have to check with "Eddie" the technician and get back to me. Today is 9/24 and I have not heard from them. I will probably call the hvac company that I have used for years and Pay to have them come out and inspect my flue. I used Top Notch because there was a coupon and because they were recommended by angies list. I don't know if I would use them again. 9183 Update: 10/1/12 I received a call from Top Notch today apologizing for not following up. She didn't make any excuses, she simply said they didn't...She offered to send a technician out today to look at the flue. I asked how much it would be and she said because I got fell in the cracks, she would send him out for free. Eddie arrived as promised and looked at the furnace venting and the water heater venting. I showed him a copy of the inspection report. He said while everything was vented safely, it was not up to code and that is probably why the inspector noted it. He was courteous and took measurements and went outside to confirm what he measured. He came back in and gave me the name of two companies who could vent the hot water heater to code if I wanted. I was impressed with this company... I changed my rating to an "A"

It went very well and I would recommend this company.

Very quick to respond! Called this am and they were here within two hours. Completed the service which included replacing a capacitor. Offered opportunity to reduce the cost of this service call, a discount on the cost of the part (from $167 to $137), and will come back to service my furnace this fall later on, and the A/C again next spring. Total cost without the service plan would ahve been $266 - with the plan $331. So - for $65.00 got extra service calls for future. Also used a $15 coupon from Angie's List that was not included in the numbers above. All-in-all - a great deal and again - very quick response on a very hot day! Checked out the entire system as well as made the repair.

Gentlemen did exactly what they were supposed to do and showed me the results. Very honest about not needing another cleaning for many, many years. The only problem was that two of the vents were not screwed back in properly and they fell out in the middle of the night! To be fair, I think if I had called and said something, I am sure they would have sent someone back out. They were as nice as they were professional. Would use them again.
