Non starter due to absurd price quote.

Overall, the process went well. The central scheduler was easy to contact and responsive. I got a call 30 minutes before the employee arrived. However, even though I scheduled a week in advance and was told I would get a first call, the call was a couple of hours after I was told it should be. Once the employee arrived things went smoothly. The light switch was replaced quickly from stock in the vehicle and attitude very friendly and professional.

It went fine with the security light...but with the back porch light, not good. He went to Home depot to get a light and told him specifically a dusk to dawn light. Well when he came back it turned out it wasn't. He had already pulled off the off light and put on the new one. I told him he needed to get me the right light and take that one back. Instead I was charged for his work and left unsatisfied. He insisted that I pay him for what he did. He never offered to take the light back and replace it it with the right one. He said I could by a photo cell to add to it. It was like I had to spend more money. Price came higher than I expected. I really thought I was going to be done right at first, but it didn't work out that way.

I will continue this review once the project is completed.

The entire team at Tann from the dispatch being easy to reach, consistently aware of our project and keeping us informed, to the electrician who helped troubleshoot over the phone and complete the repairs on-site to the President all exceeded our expectations with professionalism, expertise and compassion. Everything went smooth, even with there being alot of issues they had to fix in the house.

Electrician that arrived tracked mud throughout our house and then proceeded to tell me that it was just garden mud from his previous job. Did not apologize or offer to clean it up. Technician seemed 'out of his element' and did not even know how he was going to rewire the lights, so I thanked him for his time and got him out of my house before he tracked more mud around the place..

Great! Mark came out and did a great job. Very professional.

Derek and Mark showed up on time. I showed them the kitchen and what I needed done. They indicated that it was no problem and set out to work. They were done within 2 hours. Cleaned up after themselves.

Tann Electric was contracted, by the seller, to complete a service upgrade on the home we just purchased. When we closed yesterday and got into the house the A/C would not kick on and a set of finished rooms in the basement were without power. I can not personally confirm the operation of the A/C prior to the work done by Tann (the A/C was marked as tested and acceptable on the home inspection performed prior to the work), however, I can confirm that the rooms in the basement had power prior to the "upgrade" being performed. I'm assuming this was an oversight on their part, but it definitely calls into question their attention to detail.

Since the breaker also controlled the garage doors, I was anxious to get the job done quickly. Tann was able to send an electrician in about 30 minutes on a Friday afternoon! Jeff and Jason came and were nice, professional, and got the job done quickly. Then I threw another repair at them that had been lingering and they took care of that also! Very happy with the speed and job done! Will use Tann again!

I am so happy with the work we had done! Adam was able to get me onto their schedule within a week, called the morning of the appt. to let me know they were running late due to a power outage at another job. The electrician who came out to do the work was Derek. He was polite, professional and knowledgeable about what needed to be done. I honestly believe the wiring that had been done previously by my banker husband could have started a fire. I would highly recommend them for your electrical needs!

Derek and Ryan explained the problem, offered solutions that I could do if I wanted, then replaced the old outlets with new. They were very professional, courteous and also personable. We were very pleased with their service.

The cost would have been $150, but they gave me the discount in the book, no questions asked. They said they'd come quickly, same day service. I didn't ask for same day service, and it took them 2 or 3 days to get the appointment. I asked them about putting in a motion sensor. He came with a great big truck, but it didn't have that piece in it. He said he would order it, and he could come back out and put it in. I made a call to him to find out if it had ever come in. They said "We don't know, we'll have to get in touch with the Tech who came out." I waited week, and he still hasn't come back out or called. So I went out, and bought my own light. I gave them a call, and let them know, but I still haven't heard from them.T he work is fine . If you want something done really fast they're kind of iffy. When you need an electrician you need the work done right away, and if they're too busy they need to say so.

Very professional, punctual, trustworthily, friendly and skilled. Tim was able to fix the issue that had been caused by us (accidentally clipping a wire when hanging a wall-mount TV) without even cutting into our wall. I have complete confidence that the work was completed correctly and was very pleased with both how quickly the service was provided and, at the same time, how thorough Tim was. He also took the time to explain everything he was doing to my husband and checked on our fireplace quickly for us (it is now working perfectly as well). Hands down would both refer to others and would call again if another need should arise!

He was very professional and courteous. It was one of the best experiences we have had with a company coming in and performing services on our house. We would definitely ask for Tim if we have more electrical services needed.

I had no electricity to my refrigerator. The plug had accidentally become dislodged. When I pushed it into the outlet solidly the electricity still did not come on. I did not even think about the breaker having been tripped. As soon as he turned it back on, I had power to my refrigerator. Price seemed a little steep but he did respond immediately which I appreciated. Others I called could not come for 2-3 days which would have left me with spoiled food.

The whole service seemed hastily done from the beginning. It seemed that I paid more for an estimate than an actual inspection. He didn't actually test anything except the outlets, which I had to prompt him to do. The initial issues I had were not addressed in a helpful manner, instead he spoke about how much it would cost (down payments, deposit etc.) He did give a written estimate as per the deal, but I felt that my money was wasted for what would have essentially been a free estimate. Will update review with more info.

They came out to repair fireplace electric switch and bathroom fan. As I had already purchased the bathroom fan part, we had asked them if ok if they use....tried to save a few bucks. They said yes but would void warranty. A brand new bathroom fan should last 10+ years right? so I took the chance. Murphy's law as the fan went out 2 months later. This is a fairly new home so must be something with design of fan fixture, not the fan. Was hoping to work something out but never received a call back from service manager and don't want to spend another $250+ to have them back out when it's clearly not the fan causing the problem. Very disappointed.

The work performed was very good. The price was exorbitantly high. The rough estimate provided on the morning of the service was $700. My own mental estimate was $500, so $700 did not sound out of line, but the final bill came in at over $1100, and I was never presented with the higher cost until after the work was already completed. The electrician that performed the work was Derek McGriff. He did a great job, and I would happily have him work on my home again, but not as part of Tann Electric; their prices are simply too high. Derek priced everything according to the company guide. He mentioned that the 240V 50 amp GFCI breaker ended up costing more than anticipated, accounting for most of the cost overrun. The breaker was expensive, but the markup at Tann is what drove the price up higher than what is reasonable. The exact same breaker (same make/model) at Home Depot is $90, Tann charged me $300, a 229% markup. The next highest ticket item was 40 feet of 6/3 wire, which retails for $1.46 per foot, and Tann charged me $7.31, which is a 400% markup. You may be wondering (like I was) "what is the normal markup for materials?" A search on the internet found two different schools of thought. Some electricians use a standard markup of 25-35%, while others use a sliding scale. The sliding scale is regressive, meaning low cost items have a much higher markup than higher ticket items. One guide I found would markup a $1 item by a factor of 2.8, while a $90 item would be marked up by 1.7. The $90 circuit breaker would therefore cost me $153. Both of those markup systems are still providing the electrician a very healthy margin. Mind you, I?m computing these numbers over the retail cost someone pays walking into Home Depot. An electrical contractor should be buying these items at a significant discount from full retail. Tann?s labor rate is $98 dollars per hour. This is at the upper end of the scale, but not a major complaint of mine. What I do bristle at is being charged for the time spent acquiring the material. Nearly everything needed to do the job could have been ascertained before arriving, but even if there was something the electrician needed, I don?t believe that should be added in to the labor hours. Think of when you take your car to a mechanic for service. The repair shop uses industry standard labor times based on the estimate of what the job entails. A brake job might be 2 labor hours. If the garage needs to do a parts run to pick up brake pads, it?s still 2 labor hours. If the mechanic is super efficient and completes the work in 1.5 hours you are still charged 2 hours, which is their reward for being good at what they do. Bottom line: Good work, terrible price.

Tann Electric was able to send an electrician to my home within two hours of my calling them. The electrician was knowledgeable and professional and was able to quickly and correctly identify the source of the problem and provide necessary repairs.

He was friendly, informative and quick in both his assessment of our electrical issue and its solution. I would recommend this company in a heart beat!
