I believe that my rating this service and its personnel speak for themselves, my wife and I were very pleased with the service and the results.
Description of Work: Replaced old bathtub trap and castiron trap with PVC Plastic and completed the job as promissed in a timely and professional bashion. Mr. Slavens was very good and explained his processes very well and very plainely. His son and fellow workers performed the job professionally and were a pleasure to work with. Their work was very good and in accordance with the code. I woujld not hessitate to recommend and re-use this plumbing service again.

I was a little taken back when LJ showed up with 2 other employees (each @ $100/hr). He didn't disclose that he'd be bringing additional laborers to the house... which ran the bill up to $450 (in addition to the Angies list deal). In addition to the extra workers, he didn't have all the PVC parts (which were nothing special), so he had to run to Home Depot while on the clock. The work he did was fine, but I'd recommend anyone that uses him to ask for a bid before he starts working.... I felt as though I got scammed. Sorry, I thought my wife said two other people, but she also had to make a second run to Home Depot for you even after we discussed parts on the phone regarding the gas line. You said you were glad I discussed this with you prior to the appt because you only carry certain parts on the truck, but still showed w/o the required parts. You also had to take multiple phone calls while there and I'm not sure you deducted that time from our bill. Also, not quite sure why an apprentice is charged at the same rate as the licensed plumber.

Response from KC Metro Plumbing LLC
The customer purchased an Angie’s List coupon for two hours of plumbing labor for $99.00 (half price). Two plumbers handled the service call which cut the time at the customer’s property in half. There were not three persons on the job. The customer was charged $70.00 for parts and $333.00 for additional labor over the included two hours. Listed below are details of the work completed. Job 1: Capped off 1” gas line to outdoor hot tub. Gas line to be capped off did not have a union present which would have made for quicker capping off of line. Old gas pipe was removed so that it could not be reconnected in the future with a possible leak in the line. Fittings around newly installed cap were tested for leaks. Job 2: Installed customer provided garbage disposer and provided and installed a basket strainer on the opposite side of the garbage disposer side of the sink. Job 3: Due to the new sink being deeper, all of the drain lines under the kitchen sink had to be reworked. This meant abandoning and capping the upper most drain line which was too high and running the garbage disposer and opposite side of the sink to a common drain pipe each with their own p-trap. Job 4: Removed old tub drain so that customer could install a new drain. The drain was very old and was corroded to the drain shoe. I believe the drain was original to the home. The homes in this area were built between the late 50’s and the late 70’s. I regret that the customer was not happy with every aspect of the service we provided. We strive to please all customers.

LJ came through for me yet again. He was quick to respond when I was in need and completed the necessary work very efficiently. He is very pleasant and is thorough in his descriptions. Price seemed slightly steep, but it still probably beat out any other plumbing competitors.

Plumber wanted to use pex to connect new water heater to existing copper water lines but didn't have any on his truck so I supplied him with about three feet of pex. I had already connected the gas line and the vent pipe because the new water heater was in a location 10 feet from the old location. I also removed the old water heater myself. The plumber and helper both worked about two hours and charged me four hours labor plus parts. They did cap the hot and cold line at the old water location. The work done was excellent with no leaks and clean work. Home Depot or Lowes would have installed the water heater for less.
Description of Work: Installed hot and cold water to new water heater. Did not need to install vent pipe, gas line or remove old water heater.

He called beforehand and said that he was running a bit late. That was good because sometimes people don't say that they are going to be late. He also brought an assistant and co-worker with him and I did not want to be a female alone with a strange guy in my home. All three of the men were clean (using their own towel on the floor). They all knew their trade and the owner, L.J. Slavens, was willing to go to get the parts needed twice, not charge me the time to do that, plus give me the Angie's List 10% discount. We were saved at least $25.00 that way. L.J. Even bought a box of 36 Toy Water Guns as a benefit for Missouri Right to Life Western Region! I want this company to stay in business for a good long time from now!

I had called them to ask for a bid. They actually showed up at my house and gave me a bid and did the work on the same visit. I thought I needed a new hot water heater because there was water on the floor underneath the water heater. They did a nice job replacing the water heater but I notice a couple of days later the water was still underneath the water heater. I thought is was just some left over water from the replacement work. After several more days I looked and found out that the water was actually coming from the humidifier unit on my furnace that is right next to the water heater. So it turns out I really did not need a new water heater afterall. Although, the water heater was 12 years old and would have needed replacing soon. Besdes the hot wate heater I had to replace the main water valve in to the house because after the water had been shut off to the house so the water heater could be replaced the valve started leaking when the water was turned back on. Overall, they were professional and did good work, I am just not sure if they knew it was not the water heater that was causing the water to be on the floor- probably not.

Actually, it went fine. The gentleman who did the work, he had to do more than 2 hours but that was okay. So it was actually the water panel in the laundry room that had to be replaced. It was kind of rusted, too. That would've sort of been bad news if I hadn't gotten it repaired. I think there were additional charges. It was a big job. He was here like a half a day, if I recall correctly. He charges me the amount. He's definitely not cheap but as I said, he did a good job. It was worth it but when I'm doing a lot of home remodeling things, it all adds up.

I was using the exterior faucet, with a hose, to clean out the condenser on my air conditoner. My wife came out, and told me that water was spraying around the basement. I looked where it was spraying from, and it looked like the copper tube/valve interface was bad. I went in and turned off the water, at the meter. I went to my computer, logged in to Angie's List, and searched for plumbers, in KC. I noted that there was a coupon, for 2 hours, so I bought it. I called the company, and they told me they would call back, and tell me when they could make it. About 5 minutes later, they called and said they would be there in about 20 minutes. They got there in about 19 1/2 minutes. I showed them what valve it was, from the outside, and then where it was, on the inside. They took the old valve off, and showed me where the pipe connected to the valve had burst. They got to work, and removed/replaced the valve and its valve/copper tube interface. They seemed to know what they were doing, and had all the necessary parts/tools to fix it, in a fast, professional manner. I reccommend them.

It went great. We discovered the leak which was caused by copper pipe meeting lead pipe. (Old house) Checked Angie's list - found a coupon for 2 hours worth of plumbing for $199. Purchased it. Called plumber. Gave an estimate that he could be here in two hours. Two men arrived in exactly two hours. They worked for two hours and very neatly managed the repairs. The even brought a towel to clean up with. (Since it was a garage, that was really unnecessary but very nice.)

You don't really appreciate amenities like hot water, unless you've had to boil it on a stove. LJ was fair, honest and thorough. We've had hot water on demand and have only noticed a very minor increase in our monthly gas bill. The work took a little longer than I thought it would, but to this point it was well worth the additional expense. Plan accordingly. I will definitely consider K C Metro Plumbing for further plumbing projects.

L.J. took the call personally at around 11:30 PM (I expected a voice mail) on Friday. He made an appointment to show up andgive me a price the following morning at 9:00 AM. He even called at 7:50 AM to confirm and say he may be there closer to 9:30 AM. He showed up close to 10:00 AM faced a difficult install due to water softener lines being in the way. He and his partner measured the space (It was going to be tight) . Ended up that the recommended specs for the 40 gallon replacement unit was not going to allow for it to be installed in the tight area however the 50 gallon unit would fit. (I seen the numbers so I know it was not an up sale) L.J. reduced the price of the 50 gallon unit that he also had on his truck so that it would fit into my budget. They spent the next four and a half hours working to replace the system. It looks great. He went over everything to be sure I understood how to turn the gas off and on and to light the pilot light should there be a need in the future. Over all I was very pleased with out interactions and would recommend therm in the future. Only problem I see is that there is still lots of water in the garage and around the unit and the drywall is very wet. Wish they would have mopped up the water before it got all over the wall or at least cleaned it up before they left. (They did clean up their trash)

He was very up front with us and got the job done quickly. He discovered a nail in a second pipe that was causing our second, bigger leak and was able to repair that as well. I would definitely recommend KC Metro Plumbing and will use them again. In fact, we got an estimate on another issue before he left:)
Description of Work: We found a leak in our half bath that had starting leaking into our living room. The leak had gotten really bad all of the sudden so my husband called on Sunday evening. Even though completely booked on Monday, he came over after his day was over. The job ended up being bigger than we thought and he came back on Tuesday morning.

See above. It was all very odd. The local gas company had left some kind of notice on my water heater about its being defective (Duh! Why was I replacing it?), and the workers decided they couldn't do the work for me because of that. I was irked with the gas company for leaving a notice that caused me so much trouble and time. But when I talked to the gas co. I was told there was no problem--that KC Metro Plumbing could have done the work just fine. I don't know what went wrong. I would caution anyone contemplating having work done by this company either to live in Kansas, or to make sure that to confirm that no licensing issues will arise before spending a lot of time and energy.
Description of Work: This was an odd experience. The gentlemen who came to my house were polite and seemed very competent, and they ordered and purchased the materials they said they would need for the job (installing a water heater, and doing some related plumbing). They went to quite a bit of trouble and spent a fair amount of time, and then said that since they lived across the state line in Kansas--I'm in Missouri--they were not licensed to do the work, and instructed me to get a refund from Angie's List.
