KC Metro Plumbing LLC

LJ performed many jobs for me beginning around Thanksgiving 2013. My home was built in 1956 and no major plumbing work has previously been done. I need to get the replacement purchased and will use KC Metro Plumbing again. All this work was done quickly and professionally. LJ made sure he had great help to assist with all these projects. Several times he stayed late into the night to finish projects in order to get our household up and working again. I never felt he was trying to do work that was not necessary. I just wish I did not have so many things go wrong in such a short period of time. The service was excellent. L. J. did not leave any of these projects until he was certain that the issues were completed. I never have had to have him come back to revisit any of the repairs. This company is great!!

The specific guy was LJ. He was not able to respond to repairing older home's unusual plumbing problems. If you presented something to him that was doable easily, he'd be fine on that.

Due to my work schedule I need someone who will make an appointment for a set day and time. It was difficult for us to connect since he wouldn't commit to a day and a time window. I didn't deal well with the "I am free in a couple of hours can I come then ?" approach. I did eventually leave work on a Sat at lunch to go meet him. Checked out plumbing seemed very nice and knowledgeable. Poured some drain cleaner in vanity sink (for an extra $25) and adjusted the toilet. He inspected the garbage disposal and said it was fine but noisy. The visit lasted an hour. I should have insisted he snake the drain and look at the disposal closer.

Family business father and sons. They completed the tasks for the agreed upon labor price. Parts were extra. I felt I got a good deal.

He was disorganized and kept notes on a little note pad. There wasn't an invoice or any form of paperwork. He spent 4 hours at my house to re-set and basement toilet and evaluate or minor projects. After he left, I went to clean the toilet and found that the screw to set the toilet was already broken. I informed the plumber of the issue and he returned the following day to fix the mistake. He was nice but not very effective.

We recently purchased a new home in Leawood, KS. During the inspection period, the inspector noted that our house contained a plastic resin plumbing known as polybutylene. After some research, and some soul searching, we decided to re-pipe the house using a newer cross-linked polyethylene material commonly known as PEX. We solicited four bids for this large job, one of which was KC Metro Plumbing. LJ came to the house with one of his head plumbers. They arrived on time and were very professional. He walked the entire house, taking all the proper measurements and looking at all the existing plumbing. During the inspection, he was up front and honest about the varying opinions regarding polybutylene (pros and cons) and the common use of the material in these 1990s neighborhoods. Never did he use any "scare" tactics to solicit the large job. In addition, he was upfront with the amount of damage that would be required to the drywall in order to access all the existing piping and re-pipe using PEX. All told, my four bids ranged between $5,100 and $12,000. I typically don't go with the lowest cost provider, however after checking LJs references, his customers were very impressed with his professionalism, timeliness and cleanliness. He is a small business owner without the same "overhead" as larger plumbing companies in town. LJ and his crew worked long days for three straight days and completed the project on-time and on budget. Although the drywall damage was as advertised, he and his crew stayed away from corners and edges, and within studs, allowing for easier repair from my next contractor. Regarding his plumbing work, I was incredibly impressed with the organization and appearance of the job, All lines were labeled, run in straight lines and installed with shut off valves in multiple areas, allowing for segmentation for future renovations I outlined at the start. He used top quality materials and always checked with me before purchasing needed items. Additional parts needed were billed at cost, without any "delivery" or "time" charges. After the project was completed, LJ and his team worked late into the night removing all remaining debris, vacuuming all the floors and cleaning all the surfaces. He then walked me through the entire system, explaining where all the shut off valves were, how all the flex pipes were labeled for location and hot/cold water. The basement floor was swept and hosed down. A whole house re-pipe is a scary project for a home-owner, but LJ and his crew helped reduce the stress of a large project. It's been several months since the job was completed, and we are very happy with KC Metro Plumbing and especially LJ Slavens.

He was honest in advising against replacing the garbage disposal and was able to do a quick fix that made it function properly again. He was prompt, efficient and professional and I will definitely use him in the future.

On Tuesday, Jan. 7 I nearly had a major disaster which is common, broken water pipe. After the sub zero weather, the hot water pipe to my washing machine, froze then cracked,about 1000am. I shut off the main immediately and called LJ Slavens, of KC Metro Plumbing. He had done work for me previously, and he agreed to come by ASAP, although he was "swamped" with broken pipes that day. He got there about 300pm. He fixed the broken pipe, actually replaced it. He had a new type of metal crimping tool. So he replaced the broken pipe and crimped the ends in about 15 minutes. I was very relieved at his quick work which could have been a major inconvenience. He could not fix the cause of the frozen pipe, which was the poor insulation between the basement walls and first floor. Someone else will have to fix that!

What a great experience! We did initially have a scheduling issue but he accommodated my needs. He was on time, comes prepared w/a truck full of as many supplies as he can think of to ensure he can do the job the first time. He changed out a kitchen faucet & garbage disposal with ease clearly experienced with the work. He made a point of checking every surrounding connection he came in contact with to ensure there weren't any leaks, even in the areas that he hadn't done work on. He was even careful with parts not to scratch my hardwood floors that surrounded the work area. He had some calls on his cell phone, he politely asked my permission to take each call, and was mindful of that time to not add it to the time I had paid for even as he continued to work while talking. He works quickly & efficiently He clearly takes pride in his work, it is important to him personally that his customers have a great plumbing experience! He even took on a toilet handle issue that turned into a mystery that he stayed intent on solving. I strongly recommend "LJ" for any of your plumbing needs.

It went great. The contractor was friendly and fast. Still is working well.

Because of the small size (3/8th inch) water line used for the central vacuum Larry had to make two calls. Understanding the small pipe used on the central vacuum is not common. On the first visit he took measurements and discussed what I wanted done. He did tell me it would take a while to locate the smaller sized connections. Larry called about 4PM Monday the 18th and asked if he could come by and do the plumbing, he had located all the necessary fittings. It was quite alright with me. I wanted the job done and if he wanted to work at it in the evening so be it. When Larry arrived he went right to work and was here about 2 1/2 hours. Very professional and courteous. I will use again to replace some bathroom faucets.

For the most part everything went really well. There was one glitch. It involved something not being done correctly on the upstairs shower/tub which led to some leaking. When I called LJ he offered to come out on a Sunday night to figure out what was wrong and fix it. I said it was fine to wait until the next day. LJ was at my house early the next day and took care of the issue (I don't really remember the exact terminology). I experienced LJ as professional and very responsive. Mistakes happen occasionally. But I believe you learn about the content of someone's character by how they handle those issues when they arise. LJ was great. Took responsibility and fixed the problem ASAP. I am very happy with their work and would certainly use them again. No more leaky faucets!

They did this promptly and I am very satisfied.

It worked out very well. I used them around March 15th and I've used them since as well. They came to help me fix a leak. There were additional costs as they did other work for me which totaled $800 within the past month. They installed a new vanity and they also did some preventative maintenance for me.

LJ Slavens gave me a good explanation of the possible causes of failure of my old water heater, and a comparison of different brands. He recommended adding an Amtrol temperature expansion tank to extend the life of the water heater. He also suggested the water softener salt may have contributed to the old water heater rusting out in 7 years. He added a 2nd anode rod, which is recommended to lengthen the life of the tank. LJ did a very professional job of installing the new equipment. He cleaned up after the job. He also showed me the filter in my furnace mounted humidifier was badly corroded and recommended I change it out. The State Industries water heater heats the water well and quickly. It will be a few months before I know how the gas consumption compares to the old one.

Finished installation was good, however lack of professional knowledge led to water damage on hardwood floor. Nothing was done or offered to repair the damage to the floor.

The service was outstanding. He was quick and efficient. He even gave us some suggestions for other plumbing projects we had in mind. We would definitely use their services again.

I was quoted $98 just to come out and look. Their rate is about twice what everyone else was asking. Told them I would not be available Saturday morning, but they never showed up for the appointment or called. I called this morning to see why they did not show up and they are not currently accepting any calls.

They did a good job. They came on time and did the work.

It went great. Very professional, prompt, charged me a reasonable amount.

Service provider did a great job of getting the work done as requested. Arrived on time, explained a few repair options to me, was conscientious, and cleaned up after himself. I would definitely hire KC Metro Plumbing again.

Mr. Slavens arrived exactly when he said he would. He checked the water heater and called to see if it was still under warranty, which it was. He didn't have an electric water heater in his truck so he went back to his office and got one. He worked overtime but did not charge us for the overtime and honored the discount in the September book. He was very polite and cleaned everything around the area. We would definitely call him again!

They were on time, friendly, identified the issue right away, showed my husband exactly what the problem was, and checked to ensure that there were no other leaks. He was very pleased with their service and knowledge.
