His carpentry crew always started exactly on time each morning, and they did excellent work. Joe is licensed and insured in Johnson County, and he handled all inspections seamlessly. We were very satisfied with his roofing and painting subcontractors as well. Overall, we were most impressed by Joe's efficiency in both the planning and construction phase. He very successfully completed a decent-sized project in a short timeline without compromising quality of work and while maintaining fair pricing. We can highly recommend JB Construction.

Joe communicates well, and the team is professional, courteous, skilled, they pick-up after themselves, and they don't make any adjustments or changes without communicating with us first to seek agreement. And they are as trustworthy as I have ever seen.
Description of Work: We had a significant amount of decking that needed to be repaired/replaced. Multiple decks and a staircase. We also had them add floor lighting in areas we deemed trip hazards like steps and elevation changes.

+ 0 moreOverall we are very satisfied with the build - the deck frame looks strong enough to park cars on it, well planned and engineered, and fully fills the space while hiding an inch spacing around the perimeter beneath the surface decking so that leaves and water don't collect against the house at with the original deck. The one issue I've noticed with the deck is that the screws for the surface decking boards are driven below the surface of the boards; the expansion/contraction of the wood due to warm and cold spells over the past months has left some of the decking boards uneven as the screw heads work deeper into the boards. I may need to replace the 9x3's with 10x's and run the screws just flush with the surface to ameliorate that.
Description of Work: We had a deck built. The build was a bit special, as our house has a U-shaped floor plan, surrounding the deck on three sides. The original deck was attached directly to the house on those three sides, and over the years collected leaves and water in that joint, eventually rotting out the rim joists of the house. JB replaced the rim joints, then built a 'floating' deck - a deck which rests on its own concrete pads. The project may seem expensive, but the price was more than just the deck - it included replacement of the rotted rim joist and sill plate mentioned above, plus $4000 of the total involved the city-code required relocation of the electrical meter for the house from the deck area (it was originally was located on the back of the house) to the side of the house so that the power didn't run above the deck area.

His crew showed up on time everyday and cleaned up wonderfully before heading out. As expected, a few things came up that increased the budget but all in all I am very comfortable with what we spent given what the final product is. It feels so good to have the project completed to our expectations and love walking into that room everyday! Our house is a work in progress so I look forward to using JB Construction in the future.

I did opt for a different sink and fixtures, which they had installed professionally. Almost everything went smoothly with only a couple of snags which were remedied promptly. All the work was done with great detail and his crew was nice to work with. Some work is contracted out - but only to the best. Joe knows who he has represent his company. We have been thrilled to have our new kitchen!

+ 1 moreI purchased new windows from a major company and their installer came out and started demolition. They removed the old trim, siding and windows. They failed to come back out to finish the project. I hired JB Construction to finished the job, which included replacing the rotten rim/header joist, install 7 new windows, insulate, install James Hardie siding and Fly Ash trim boards. JB Construction was very professional, showed up on time and when promised. I was very happy with their quality of work. I hired them again to install 3 additional windows.
Description of Work: Rebuild an exterior two story wall that had water damage. Installed a new rim/header joist, 7 new windows, exterior James Hardie siding and 2 by 6 trim boards. Painted and caulked all new siding and trim boards.

+ 0 moreJB Construction did very well managing the project and subcontractors. The work was done a quality manner and any issues were resolved to our satisfaction. The price was reasonable for the amount of work completed. Once JB started, there were no major delays and all of the work was completed in about 6 weeks. The only issue involved a few items that we felt should have been included in the budget but JB had excluded the items. The contract was a little thin and the exclusions were not very well detailed. Allowances were reasonable and JB worked with us to make sure we found materials that met our design and functional desires while fitting in the allowance. Overall, we were very happy with the work, schedule and cost. We would definitely recommend JB to others needing renovation work.
Description of Work: JB Construction provided a full kitchen remodel along with minor remodeling in the master bathroom and a bedroom. As part of the project, JB Construction replaced the popcorn ceiling throughout the main level to match the kitchen. Walls were also repainted to avoid cut lines. Mold damage in a bedroom was repaired as part of the project. The existing kitchen was demolished and new cabinets, countertops, flooring, ceiling and light fixtures were installed.

All work was done to my complete satisfaction and to all relevant building codes. One of the best aspects was the attention to detail to ensure that the basement finishes matched the rest of the house, i.e. railing, spindles and wood work are identical to the rest of the house. All in all we were very pleased with the project and Joe's team.
