Response from Focus Handyman
On May 8, 2014 we gave [member name removed] an estimate to lift up his driveway and sidewalk 2.5". We gave him a price for traditional Mudjacking and Polyjacking. On May 14th [member name removed] contacted us and told us he wanted the work done and he wanted the Polyjacking option, which was a total of $903.94 He said that our professionalism was why he chose our company. On May 30, 2014 we had 2 brand new high pressure hoses installed on our polyurethane equipment, which were attached to the injection gun. On June 3rd, 2014 we installed the Polyjacking at [member name removed]'s home in Liberty. We had just finished lifting the sidewalk and driveway and we were on injection hole with the Polyurethane when one of the brand new hoses failed and the hose blew off of the fitting at 1500psi of pressure and began spraying polyurethane all over his driveway, garage door, and stucco siding. We immediately shut the machine down. We then tried to cleanup the polyurethane, but it had already stained the concrete. [Member name removed] asked us how we could get the polyurethane off of his concrete and I informed him that I was not sure since this had never happened before in the 1000's of jobs we have done. We contacted the manufacturer of the polyurethane to see what would take it off the concrete and they were unsure since this is such a rare event to happen. I spent over $600 buying products to clean it up, but they did not work. I then contacted the hose manufacturer (this was about a week after the incident) and they agreed that it was completely their fault the hose failed. They turned in an insurance claim and the insurance company paid to have [Member name removed]'s concrete sandblasted, garage door painted, and the stucco repainted on the home. The insurance company took a few weeks to get the claim paid out and finalized, but other than that we handled this as quickly as possible. I drove past the job after all the work was completed and other than the driveway is now lifted you can't even tell anything happened. Although this was not our fault that the hose blew off of the fitting, we handled this professionally and stayed on top of it while it was being taken care of for [member name removed]. Upon completion of the cleanup [member name removed] even sent us payment for the full amount we gave him the proposal for. After everything that happened we didn't really expect we'd be paid for the work that we did complete. I apologized to [member name removed] several times through this process and assured [member name removed] that we would get it resolved and cleaned up for him and we did do exactly that. I was on the phone with the insurance company several times trying to help [member name removed] get this claim handled quickly. If you have any questions about this review/project please feel free to call my office and I can talk to you more about it. At KC Concrete Care, we aren't perfect and we make mistakes, but we believe that we couldn't have handled this more professionally than we did. We never guarantee anyone there won't ever be a problem, but we always guarantee that we will fix it. Respectfully, Richard Tooley Owner, KC Concrete Care
