well, at first. however within 2 years settling continued. I opted for the more costly Poly-jacking vs. the mud-jacking--based on the longer warranty period. HOWEVER this company has closed. Warranty doesn't matter when the outfit goes under.

This business is closed. I hired them to do poly-jacking at my home. 5 year warranty. Good work originally. NOTE that the owner is operating another company at the same address called Elite Roofing Systems (was KC Roof Care). Beware. Just sayin'

Mark showed up right on time and we talked about my front porch area. He explained that we don't have any foundation/concrete issues and what I was seeing was actually just normal settling around the porch foundation. I mentioned that we would be having some landscaping done in the next few weeks and Mark said that would be the perfect time to just have the area re-filled with dirt. He did not recommend any concrete work and there was also no charge for their trip. I was pleasantly surprised. He then even took the time to explain to me how we can use soaker hoses around our foundation in the future during very dry spells to help with eliminating foundation issues on down the road. I would highly recommend this company and we will will certainly be calling them again should we have any issues needing attention on down the road.
Description of Work: I called KC Concrete Care on Monday, 2/22/15 because I thought we had some issues and needed some mudjacking type of work around our front porch. I scheduled an appt for Wednesday, 2/24/15.

The mudjacking itself appears to have gone well. The stairs were raised to a level position. There was confusion about service date. I was scheduled for July 2 according to the email the company sent me. When no crew showed up by 4:30 PM on July 2, I called. Apparently the office staff had put me on the work plan for July 12 (a Sunday?) despite having told me they'd be there on the second. To the owner's credit, he called me later that night and told me he'd have a crew out in the morning (July 3). The crew showed up today as promised. The workers were friendly and did a good job. Overall customer communication needs to be improved.

I thought things had gone well until the big crack at the base of the stairs began cracking shortly after the repair. I decided to contact the company regarding the crack and the woman who answered the phone immediately told me they don't guarantee cracks at stairs and that I did not pay for crack repair. Now I must have misunderstood something somewhere because that crack was the main reason I hired them.I guess( I thought Void fill meant filling in the crack) I was totally expecting that to be repaired. Now 7 months later the crack is coming back and is giving the appearance that they did nothing more than smear some concrete patch over it I just wanted them to reevaluate whether the sidewalk was sinking again or their fill and void was insufficient and I was met with rudeness.

This name and address is NOT a customer of ours. We have never done an estimate for that person or that address. We do have a [member name removed] customer name that we did work for at a different address, but the description of work listed above does NOT even match the work that was performed. I will say that there is NO company out there that will put any warranty on concrete crack repair. The ground moves way too much and there is no way to guarantee that any patch will hold up. Once a piece of concrete breaks apart it can no longer ever be structurally bonded back to the opposite piece. If so it is only temporarily. If the ground moves even a 1mm it will re-crack if you put a solid patch over a crack. Sometimes they last 24 hours and sometimes the crack repairs last for years, but eventually they will always re-crack. We tell our customers this upfront and it is written very clearly in our proposal that we give every customer and written in several places within the proposal, emails, and terms and conditions etc. Our proposals are by far the most easy to read and understand compared to any of our competitors. We use all computer generated estimates with photos and everything is explained clearly. Most of the time we will tell customers up front that we can't patch a certain area because it will re-crack again and the typical response we hear is "go ahead and patch it anyway so it looks better for the time being". As far as this person stating that they were "met with rudeness" if you have ever called our office you would understand that doesn't even sound like our office manager. We get nothing but compliments on how friendly and helpful she was from our customers on a daily basis. We are very thorough in how we present every item and we explain things so everyone understands it. We even send out an email to our customers with a work order and ask them to confirm that everything is correct and that they agree to have the work done as presented. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly at 913-626-7267. My name is Richard and I am the owner of KC Concrete Care. Thanks Rich

KC Concrete Care was very professional from start to finish. We needed our front porch, steps, and sidewalk mudjacked to correct setting that had happened over the year. A fairly large cavity underneath the structure had caused sections to drop 3-4 inches. KC Concrete promptly returned calls, showed up on time for the estimate and service call, and their estimate matched the final invoice. We received 4 estimates for the work. KC Concrete Care was in the middle cost-wise, but we were very comfortable with them from the start.

They said they could do it. They blew my driveway up and didn't move anything, not even half an inch. When the guy came out to look at it after I complained he said he didn't know why the guy thought they could mudjack it, Then they wouldn't give me a refund. I had plenty of evidence I just didn't want to take it to small claims court. They offered me half and I settled for it. It was still a ripoff. The kid that came out to do the mudjacking was good, but the expert and owner were not.

I would like to respond to this review. When we bid this job the driveway had massive cracks in it and lots of them (I have the original photos). We gave him a bid to raise the porch and landing pad and stairs. The porch, landing pad, and stairs had a huge void under them that we filled and stabilized so they wouldn't continue to sink or break apart. The already broken up driveway was binding the steps and wouldn't let them lift so we tried to lift the driveway just enough to get the steps to lift. One of the large cracks that was already there stated to open up so we stopped trying to lift it. We did NOT put any additional cracks in his driveway. He paid us and did not complain about anything for a while then called and demanded a refund. We had already did the work and he paid us upon completion of the work. I went out and looked at the job and told him that he'd need to have some foundation work done before we could get the porch to lift any further. I even gave him 1/2 of his money back to him. We went above and beyond for the customer on this project. I am a little shocked that he says that we cracked his already severely cracked driveway. Please feel free to call me directly at 913-626-7267 if you have any questions. My name is Richard and I am the owner of KC Concrete Care. Thanks Rich

Very responsive in coming out to look at the work and provide a cost estimate. The only issue that I had was the actual scheduling to do the work. It took a little while to get up on their schedule, and then, they had to reschedule twice which wasn't great for me as I had taken off work to be home. The first time was due to cold, wet weather which was understandable, but the second time, another more profitable project caused mine to be rescheduled. One piece of the equipment did breakdown so they had to finish up a couple of days later since we were going into the weekend. The crew was professional and hardworking, and I was pleased with the final results. They cleaned up after the work was completed. KC Concrete Care was much more reasonably priced than other area companies that I had contacted for cost estimates. This was a relatively small job so other companies seemed to apply additional polyjack material costs to the pricing.
Description of Work: Polyjack two sunken concrete sections in front of the garages as well as a concrete patio in the backyard area that had started to pull away from the foundation.

We hired this company because they seemed professional. They were middle of the road, price wise, not the least expensive, but not the most expensive for the job we needed. Kent gave us the bid at the end of June and said the job would begin at the beginning of August. We were OK with that, but in actuality, it took them 10 months to complete the job. It was not completed until May. We would not have hired them if we had known it would take that long. We felt like we had to hound them about the timing and getting over here. They did give us a 10% discount for the length of time it took to do the job and the inconvenience. The end result is very good, but it took way too long. We would have appreciated being informed of when the job would be performed without having to continually calling, asking, and getting frustrated, and the reason for the delay.

Other than confusion on the start date, they ended up showing up on time and completing the job to our satisfaction. Professional, informative and friendly. Less than a day job. It has been six months since the work was completed and the concrete is still in place. The price was competitive with two other bids. I would use their services again.

We needed to have the stoop area by the front door mudjacked, as it was sinking down and sloping toward the door. We had more than one estimate, but were most impressed by KC Concrete Care. Our estimate was done by Mark Miller and he was very thorough with his estimate, which included measuring the void under the stoop. In addition he noted that the steps also had a void needing to be filled. He completed his estimate with a detailed printout including photos. We were happy with the price quoted, especially since we were offered a discount for signing the contract that day. The work was completed on the day scheduled, and we are pleased to have a level stoop. If we have any future need for mudjacking, this will definitely be the company we use.

Description of Work: I was given an estimate by another company and was told I needed to replace my whole sidewalk. KC Concrete said my concrete was fine, but needed to be lifted. It was suggested that I do poly-jacking as opposed to mud-jacking. Poly-jacking has a 5 year warranty vs a 1 year warranty with mud-jacking. Heather was wonderful and answered all my questions. I tried to get several estimates on some driveway work, but KC Concrete was the only company that actually showed up. Mark provided great advice on which repairs to address and which weren't actually a problem. He arrived on time for the estimate, as did the team that performed the work. They cleaned everything up before they left and wrapped the area with caution tape. They were able to do the job within a week of the estimate, the work performed was exactly what I expected and the final price was on target with the estimate. Received a 15% discount for meeting booking and payment options. Very happy with the results and would definitely use them again.

We had some concrete failure on the corners of the approach to our residential driveway. The rest of our driveway was in excellent condition, so we only wanted to make repairs to the damaged areas. Several contractors gave us estimates, but most of them insisted on increasing the scale and cost of the repairs we were seeking, i.e. tear out and replace the entire approach. KC Concrete Care gave us an estimate to cut out and replace only the damaged areas. The repairs were accomplished over two days and the results are outstanding. We presented them with a discount coupon (published in a recent Angie's List newsletter) and were pleased to get an even larger discount because we scheduled the project within a limited time after the estimate was done. We highly recommend this company for their honesty, professionalism and quality of work.

They showed up on a Sunday to complete the work since the weather was at a temperature they could do the work. They drilled the holes and came back a few days later to mud jack. It took two loads of mud since the job was so big, but they completed that part in a day. They sent a crew back the next day to concrete the sides and fill the cracks on the floor.
Description of Work: Originally had a bid to poly jack our garage floor, but the gaps were too severe and we decided to mud jack instead. The cost would have been more than entire replacement, so the owner only charged us a day rate to complete this job.

[member name removed], thank you for the great review. Sometimes we have to think outside the box as we did with your project. It's not always about making top dollar for a project and in your case the Polyjacking was going to be way more than the replacement due to the 14" void under your garage floor, but we were able to make the switch to Mudjacking and get the project completed as promised. We injected over 16 yards of material in this floor so it was a very sizable project. Thank you for your business. We greatly appreciate it. Richard Tooley Owner KC Concrete Care LLC

Found the company on Angie's list (which I always go to find my services). Called and made an appointment to talk with the salesman. He arrived on time ready to show me the products and explain the benefits of each. He was very professional. Then Gary went around the house taking pictures of the areas that needed work. Gary made an estimate for us to look at both mud jacking and polyurethane jacking. Gary answered all my questions and left a copy of the pictures and estimates with me. I did some research on both types and decided to go with the polyurethane which the highway depts. have been using to level roads. It also had a much longer warranty with it. The following week Richard and his crew showed up early in the morning to complete the project. Unfortunately, our gaps under the driveway was much worse than anticipated so the estimate went up on the job. I'm ok with that I want it done right. Richard presented what he found after drilling the holes. He also assured us that they would monitor the amount over the original estimation closely and only charge what was used. They worked hard and moved outdoor furniture for us to do the job. They were here all day since the job was more extensive that first thought. They made sure to keep me updated as the job went along. The end product looks great and Richard promised if any problems arose to call and they would come back out to fix it. It was great working with Richards team would recommend them to anyone. They are a very professional group and do a wonderful job. Big thanks especially since Richard showed me how the driveway went down at least a foot when the car was backed out of the garage. Its a wonder the slab had not broken off. Wow! Oh and did I forget to mention I received a 15% discount. I am very satisfied!!! Thanks KC Concrete crew. Tanya Vail

I did not select KCCC to do the work
Description of Work: Mark came out, surveyed what I wanted done, drilled some holes in my garage floor to determine void space, explained the process and provided an estimate for mudjacking or polyurethane raising. I could get a 10% or 15% discount off the estimate if I decided within 1 to 5 business days. That wasn't practical for me since KC Concrete Care was the first of several estimates I'd scheduled and some of the companies couldn't respond as quickly as KCCC.

Richard and his crew arrived as scheduled and began process. They were very professional and completed process in a timely manner. They cleaned up as they had drilled the holes in the areas that needed leveling. They started the leveling process and then cleaned up. They then patched the holes they had drilled earlier. One could hardly tell they had worked in the area other than the driveway was now level with the garage entry and the steps were now parallel with the entry way steps to front door. I plan to have them do some work for me on rental property that I own as well. Great job!

Communication was terrible with this company as well as within this company among the managers, workers, and sales person. When my concerns were voiced I spent entirely too long on the phone with Richard where he was extremely defensive and arguing why he was right. No concessions were ever made. I wasted a Saturday away from my family waiting on them and they didn't end up doing the services that day. Due to cold weather, days were limited to perform the services. I was waiting to install carpet until this service was complete and waiting to move in until the carpet was installed. So the longer it took the longer I was paying rent somewhere else. When they finally were able to do it they left a HUGE mess in my home. Muddy handprints on my newly painted walls and brand new windows and blinds. They left the screens to the windows on the ground outside and left piles of tack strip outside my home and inside my home. When I told the salesperson Gary about it, he had Richard call me. I deleted all his messages because all of the times I spoke with him he was defensive and never apologized which is all I wanted. He blamed me for not having enough light in the house. There was one room that didn't have a working light fixture but I did have a floor lamp (which was also covered in mud ALL the way up). There were muddy footprints in my dining room and kitchen and there was no reason they should have been in either of those rooms. They told me they would come back out and clean but I honestly didn't trust them enough to be anywhere near my house. However, the job did get done so I am happy about that. I was told by several friends though after the fact that this company is overpriced compared to competition and spoke with one person when voicing my frustration who also had a bad experience with them and knew the owner by name before I even said it.

Response from Focus Handyman
My name is Richard Tooley and I am the owner of the company. Anytime we have a less than positive review it is very concerning to us as we do try very hard to make sure that all of our customers are nothing but happy. We apologize if we did not meet your expectations. A large portion of our business is referrals so I was a little confused by this review and I would like to respond to this and tell you how this project transpired from start to finish as we keep excellent records of our jobs. On Friday January 17th at 3:00pm our Salesman Gary went out and gave the customer her proposal for the Mudjacking of the interior slab floors inside the home. On the same day at 4:38pm, Gary sent in the paperwork telling me that “Customer would like to have the work completed next week”. The weather was very cold during parts of that week. On January 22nd at 5:14pm I emailed the customer and informed her the job was scheduled for Saturday January 25th and the estimated time of arrival would be 11am-1pm. I also informed her that we did have a prior job that morning and we never know how long they will take and that these times are approximate times. I informed her that we would call her ahead of time prior to arrival letting her know that we were on our way there that way she did not have to wait around. That first job ran a little long and we finished it up at exactly 1:10pm and called her at immediately and told her that we were on our way and that we were only about 10 minutes away. She informed us that she had another appointment that she had to be at and said that we would have to reschedule. We had very cold weather for the next few days. I emailed her on January 28th at 7:53pm and asked if we could do the job the following day on January 29th since it would be warm enough and that we should be there around 2-4pm for the estimated arrival. She responded at 8:40pm and said “That’s awesome thank You”. We arrived on time at 2:45pm and had plenty of time to get the job done prior to dark. We went inside to check out the project and she had NOT removed any of the carpet and pad which was required to do the job. She was told by Gary the carpet must be removed prior to our arrival. Instead of rescheduling the project I knew she was in a hurry to get moved in so the 4 of us spent almost 90 minutes ripping out the carpets and all the tack strips. She told us to pile them up in the living room so we did. We did not even charge her for this service. By then it was about 4:00pm when we began the Mudjacking and it would be dark by 5:15pm. We noticed that neither of the 2 rooms we were working in had any lighting in them. There was a 40 watt floor lamp that she told us we could use for the light. Then we discovered that we would have to bring the hoses through the windows in order to reach all areas of the floors. We carefully moved the hose in and out of the windows and we did replace the window screens upon completion. When we finished the Mudjacking and proceeded with the cleanup it was 5:45ish and dark. The 40-watt bulb was not much better than a dim flashlight. We did the very best we could with the minimal light we had to work with. The next morning I informed the crew that we would need to go back and do a final cleanup for her. Before I could get her called I had already received a call from Gary our salesman stating that we did a very horrible cleanup job. I called and left her a voice mail immediately and was very apologetic and told her to give me a time and I would have the crew back over there to do a good final clean up. I informed her that since there was no lights in the home in those 2 rooms that we could barely see to clean up.I called and left her 4 messages over the next 3 days but she would never return my calls so we could get it cleaned up. All 4 times I was nothing but apologetic and trying to make the situation better. At no time during this transaction was anyone at our company less than professional. We were very courteous and even put her job ahead of about 25 others due to her moving situation. I apologize that we did not meet your expectations and I wish that we would have had a little more daylight to get the project cleaned up better. Other than the cleanup we did everything by the book with this project and I would say that we went above and beyond for her.
