I am usually not a 100% kind of person. Whether it be food, movies or service I can usually find one slip-up or one area that can be improved. I had a very different experience than most of the reviews here, which I would like to share. I met with Doug Mitts to discuss selling my house, which I had been renting since I moved out of state shortly after the housing market crash of 2008 and had been unable to sell at that time. The house needed a bit of work, mostly replacing the carpet and some painting. I was fully willing to put in the necessary work before listing. When I met with Doug, he told me that he thought my house was unsellable on the market (this is in 2018 when the housing market in Kansas City is quite strong) and encouraged me to sell it to an investor for less than I had paid for the house 13 years ago. Upon hearing this, I was quite discouraged and agreed to have some investors view the property. Fortunately, after giving the situation some thought, I decided I needed to get a second (and third, fourth and fifth) opinion. The other four realtors that I met with told me my house would easily sell and everyone said it would sell in less than a week. Hearing this, I was confident that my house would sell, so I went ahead and contracted with one of the other realtors and after replacing the carpeting and painting as I originally intended (which cost under $10,000), the house sold in 2 days for $50,000 more than Doug Mitts had advised me to sell for to an investor. When I mentioned this to my realtor, she said that it sounded like Doug was trying to pull a fairly well-known within the industry real-estate con where a realtor convinces someone to sell their house to an investor for a very low price, the investor than puts a little work into the house and then lists the house for sale at a much higher price using the same realtor, thereby allowing the realtor to collect a commission on the house twice. To be clear, I do not know if this is what Doug was doing, but even if not, he clearly had an extremely poor understanding of the current real estate market, thereby either way I feel like he very much deserves the F rating that I have given him for my experience.

Doug was very professional and prompt in the sale of our home. He met with us at times that worked for myself and my husband, followed up promptly by email and sent all documents by email as able to respect our time. As first time home sellers, he was available for all questions and walked us through the processes so that we were comfortable and confident going into the sale of our home. I would recommend The Mitts Home team for honest, prompt and customer service friendly realty team, and would definitely ask for Doug to represent us in future sales.

From the beginning working with Doug has been so easy to work with and made us feel confident since he is so knowledgeable on home buying and home values. We usually rely on my dads advice during our home searching but this is the first time we went through the process since he passed and it made a huge difference having a realtor that genuinely cared about what’s best for our family. Doug went out of his way to include our kids and make them feel comfortable as well. In fact after we got to the house last night Graham asked when Doug was coming since he’s only been in the house with Doug. ☺️ Buying a house is an extremely stressful and emotional process and we greatly appreciate having you to help calm us down (ok just calm me down Chris is calm all the time ha ha). You answered every question and never made us feel rushed in making a decision. We have several friends looking for realtors and there seem to be a million in KS but we will always refer people to Doug & his team. He does not rush you into making a choice. I can’t begin to express my appreciation for the work Doug Mitts and his team put into selling our home and working for us to land a new one. Communication was absolutely top notch. He and his team did a fantastic job of setting clear expectations and informing us of everything that was involved in the process. They relentlessly marketed our home across a variety of real estate and social media platforms to ensure maximum interest before it was officially available. In the end, we received several above-list offers within 24 hours and had a contract that far exceeded expectations within 48. Doug valued our time, and was punctual with scheduled meetings, both during the selling and buying process. If he couldn’t be available to show us prospective homes (with our crazy work/family schedules!), he arranged for others from his team or office to assist, always meeting our needs. We cannot say enough wonderful things about Doug Mitts and his team. Doug and Caroline exceeded our expectations from the moment we first met with them. As first time home buyers they were patient to listen to our questions and concerns while also looking out for our best interests. They were professional, made themselves very familiar with the neighborhoods were interested in, and quickly responded to our needs. Doug Mitts did an unbelievable job! When listing our home, we did a thorough walk-thru and made a punch list of all items needing repair that would impact our sell price! He knows his stuff! We completed all of the items and listed the home for what we thought was a fair price! We ended up receiving 8 offers and sold for $60,000 over our asking price! He and his team did an incredible job of managing the offers and helping us through the process! I would HIGHLY reccomend him and his team!

Doug and his team made selling the only home we have ever owned (36 years) very comfortable. They answered all of our questions, were very respectful of our home and our time and protected our interests throughout the transaction. We wanted to do some updating on our home ourselves before putting it on the market so we could maximize the selling price and they never pressured us to sign a contract, but did stay in touch with us along the way. They provided an amazing photographer and videographer and a wonderful lady to help stage our home for a quick sale. We worked directly with Kevin Conway with the Mitts Home Team. I can't say enough good things about Kevin, other than he was stuck with us for about a 1.5 years. We did not make things easy on him and he must have shown us around 60 to 80 homes during that time frame. I think most agents might want to have cut their losses, not Kevin. He was always available and ready to go. Seemed like he may have been more interested at looking at the homes than I was at times. He was always in a good mood and never made us feel pressured into purchasing a home. He would even remind us that you want to buy the right home and you should never just settle. Needless to say, we really appreciated everything that he brought to the table as an agent. He also has invaluable knowledge when it comes to the structure of the home from his years of appraising experience. Overall, I will miss him helping us out. We really appreciated everything he did for us and I could not give him a more solid recommendation.

It went great. Our house was listed quickly as we requested since we need to move out of the state in a very short time. All the staging, listing were done professionally. The team is very responsive. We will definitely recommend them.
