Recently I purchased a "Rhythm Clock" from Nebraska Furniture Mart. Instead of going to the store myself, I decided to puchase the clock from their website. This every expensve (almost 500 dollar) clock was to be a Christmas present for my wife. During the checkout procedure I had the choice of "gift" upon checkout so I naturally assumed the clock would be in a plain box or wrapped as to not be obvious as to what it was. Well, lo and behold, the clock arrives in a VERY conspicuous box (a photo of the clock is on the outside with the words "rhythm" all over the whole box) and guess who gets home before I do? MY WIFE!!!!!!! ARRRGGGGGGG. So I write a complaint to NFM and get this lame email, explaining that "gift" only means I won't get a DAMNED PHONE CALL!!!!!!! Needless to say, I am now scrambing trying to find something else to surprise my wife with and you can bet it won't be from Nebraska Furniture Mart.
Description of Work: Bought a Christmas present for my wife. It was a Rhythm clock. Did it via their website and ordered it as a "gift".

We appreciated the sales help. For a large, large furniture store they really gave personal service, which is always surprising. The store is beyond huge and it is surprising how good the service is. We were buying bedroom furniture and I wanted to find some matching lamps so the salesperson told me to pull out one of the nightstand drawers and take it with me to lamps so I could match up the wood. I wandered around with my drawer and they were fine with that. I found what I wanted and then put the drawer back. We also bought two treadmills and they set those up for us. They also had a maintenance program where they would do the maintenance if we bought the extended warranty. The only negative thing is that they have put every other furniture store out of business or on notice because of their pricing.

Excellent. Placed the order by phone and they were very helpful. The delivery took place as promised. The two guys who did the delivery were so good that I gave them a tip. They carried the unit in so as to not damage my new wood floor. It is big and heavy. They took my existing refrigerator to my garage. They needed to remove the doors to do this and put them back. They also had to remove the doors on the new one to fit through the door. Highly professional and courteous. I had also purchased a gas stove from them a few months ago and was also satisfied.

They did a really good job. They tiled all of the floors. The work turned out to be great. It was really nice. They were here on time and they got it done when they said they would get it done. They were great. Nebraska Furniture Mart has good price and they have 0% financing for 24 months and that was a big draw. I had checked quite a few places and they had the best price. The quality was good. They put down canvas across the rugs and everything so that there was no damage to any of the carpet. There was a lot of cutting and so there was dust and stuff and they took care of all of that. Nebraska Furniture Mart is a huge warehouse shopping thing that has everything from electronics to furniture, appliances and they have it set up. It's not like a warehouse looking inside. It's a beautiful big store. It's an amazing place. They've got one here in Kansas City. They have one of the best prices because they buy in such large quantities and everything. They are highly respected in several states and people drive from different states to get to there. I would use them again in the future if need be.

The salesperson was very nice and helpful. He ordered the samples for us and they came in a timely fashion. The whole deal fell apart when we learned that removal would be a separate process. We ended up at Carpet Corner and were delighted with them. it is really too bad, because Nebraska has a very diversified selection of carpet.
Description of Work: We wanted to replace carpet in our house and had picked out several samples. We were about to place a large order when we learned that they would not remove the old carpet because we had stains from our cats. We would have to deal with that separately.They gave us a number to call for removal, but the whole process was a hassle. The sales person was very professional and nice, but the company needs to do something about their discriminatory carper removal policy.

They were all great! We had a warped door on our $1400 chest. Called and they were nothing but the nicest , ordered a new door sent to us at no charge. Problem was, it was warped also, so called again and explained the problem to her. She said that it was no problem what-so-ever, and she would have another new chest delivered out to us. It arrived and the delivery guys brought it out and exchanged them. They did a great job both times too! We are Very happy with our purchase.
Description of Work: We ordered an "American Traditions" bedroom suite [6 pieces] and had it delivered and set up in our bedroom. Everyone there that we spoke with before we made our purchase was helpful without being pushy like sales people usually are. We were looking at a couple of different American made sets so we kept walking back and worth numerous times to compare them before buying.

Delivery refused to take mattress and box spring. Delivery driver told me that he could not take because I did not pay for removal of 3 pieces. King size box spring is always split into 2 pieces. Driver considered the split box spring 2 separate pieces, I paid for removal of the box spring and mattress but he refused to take all 3 pieces. Never did he say the pieces were soiled (they were not, I have pictures). He reported to the company that he did not take due to dirty mattress. I am now stuck with all 3 pieces in my bedroom. Nebraska furniture mart was not helpful even after 3 phone calls to service. I am now stuck paying a separte trash service to do removal.
Description of Work: purchased mattress and box spring with delivery and removal of old bed.

We were very pleased with the quality and selection of carpet in the remnant room. We first bought 2 pieces of residential type carpet, and NFM sent their installers to measure the 2 small rooms, to be sure the pcs we selected would fit. They would. Then we set up an installation date. Scheduling got a little confused when we decided to purchase an additional piece of carpet for a third room, an office, and wanted it installed on the same day as the other 2 pieces. But we got it figured out. The installation itself went beautifully, the installers were real pros, they had some intricate cutting to get around a permanently installed desk, and it's perfect. They were polite, friendly, and cleaned up 100%. We have no complaints whatsoever.
Description of Work: NFM sold us 3 pieces of new carpet from their remnant stock, and installed them in our apartment and office. They installed all 3 pieces in one day.

I received a call a few days later from the sales associate and he told me the total square footage was going to be 226 sq ft. I told him the measurer at the time he was doing the measure told my wife it would be 204sq ft. He then went into some story about how they add an additional 5% to the estimate because not every board in the box is good. Basically they were trying to swindle me into buying more material and the cost of installation is based on how much material you buy. So if I have to buy 226 sqft that is the ft that they figure labor on. I will never go to NFM to have flooring done again. They were dishonest.
Description of Work: I was interested in having hardwoods installed in our hallway and daughters bedroom. I measured the space and brought that into the store 170Sq ft. I worked with a sales associate to pick out flooring I wanted and set up a time to have someone come out and do the measure. They came out and measured the space and the square footage that they told my wife at the time was 186 sqft with 10% waste for a total of 204sq ft. This was way over what I measured the first go around so I remeasured again and I still came up with 170sq ft.

They beat everybody else at prices. They always have the merchandise that I want in stock. They come right away and install. They haul away all the equipment and take all the packing materials with them. I am just very pleased with them and would continue to do business with them in the future.

They had the model we wanted as a "scratch and dent" and we were told price was reduced because of minor scratches and a small dent on the back. After we had it home my husband discovered it was actually because major repairs had to be made on the freezer door.

The store was good but it did not agree with the delivery process.
Description of Work: I bought two love seats. As part of the delivery they would move one piece of furniture to another part of the house. I just had knee surgery and they could not move furniture. They would not move a small bench were the love seat was suppose to go.

frustration, delays and confusion. Service ends with the sale at NFM.
Description of Work: Our issue is not with the sales but with service. when we equipped our new kitchen, I bought an extended warranty. All was well until our oven broke. NFM at first had no record of our coverage and it was only until I found the sales receipt that they agreed that we were covered. I was then transferred over to the warranty company. It took nearly two weeks to get an appliance repairman out and we were told they had to order a part. Two weeks later, after calling the warranty repeatedly, we were finally told that the part would not be available for at least 3 months. We stated that this was unacceptable and then were told that within 24 hours we would have an OK to replace the unit at their expense. Now, another three weeks have passed and blame shifts between the warranty company ("its is NFM's responsibility") to NFM ("Jenn-Aire has not responded") to Jenn-Aire (we can't get the part from China"). Finally, after 7 weeks, someone from NFM calls to say they are again trying to get the part. NO progress, just confusion. In the end, no one seems to take responsibility and we have spent countless hours being transferred back and forth to always hear the same response, "it is ________'s problem, you should call them." Although we have a 5-year warranty on the oven, no one seems to grasp the issue that we want an appliance that works. NFM needs to make service as pleasant as sales. Their system is bogged down in bureaucracy, confusion and finger pointing rather than one stop help. I would caution anyone to take pause about their service and dealing with the warranty company before buying appliances from NFM.

When the carpet was purchased, it was labeled on the back as a Stain-master Ultra life. They later pulled off the tag and said it was an Active Life, which would have voided the pet stain warranty and was the sole reason we were buying an Ultra life. When this was pointed out to them, Chris Kesselring the flooring manager wrote on the sale that they would honor the Ultra life warranty. It made us question what carpet quality we had really purchased, if we paid too much, etc. Chris was to get back with us and never did. Installation also had problems. One of the installers threw down the stairs pieces of the old jute-backed carpet and scratched our hardwood floors. He called us and returned later with his nephew who used a hardwood restorer on the scratches. The restorer made the floor shinier in that location than the rest of the floor but did not take care of the scratches. Carpet also has a place that pooches out and isn't laying flat. Stair step installation was so-so.
Description of Work: Carpet was installed on stair steps and upstairs hall and bedrooms.
