If you can tolerate a totally unresponsive sales and office staff and long delays in start of construction the work performed by the actual workmen was superior. In April provider completed an estimate and submitted contract. We paid a significant deposit. Work was to commence in June. It took until August to begin work, and until first week in September to complete. Sales representative and office staff were woefully unresponsive to our requests for information on date construction was to begin. After many e-mails and phone calls we were told the delay was due to the city not providing a building permit. Checked with the city and were told no request for a permit had been submitted by contractor. After 3 months of non response, we asked for a refund of our deposit. The company refused. However the request for a refund resulted in delivery of materials and start of construction the next week, mid August. During construction the office staff failed to tell the workmen that screening was to be installed which resulted in an additional delay. The workmen were top notch. The completed tear down and removal of the old structure promptly. The final product was what we wanted. It is recommended that anyone using the company insist that a start date be noted in the contract and agreed to by the company.
Description of Work: Reconstructed upper and lower deck. Added screening and roof to lower deck.

When I first contacted Scott Otto, he is very responsive, professional and easy to work together. He is very knowledge about his products and services. He quickly provided excellent consultation and quotes to me. I decided to construct the under deck ceiling first before the concrete patio. We signed the contract on the July 4th holiday. I am surprised to see Scott is willing to come out on a holiday. The original scheduled under deck ceiling was a little later this month. But I stated I'd like to get it done as soon as possible. Two days later, I received a surprise phone call from the installer - Al Adriance. He wanted to come on Sunday afternoon to put his tools in my yard and check on the job site. Again, Al is very polite, professional and easy to work with. Al started his work on Monday and finished on late Wednesday during the rain storm as well. He works to hard and did a beautiful work. He also thoroughly clean up the job site better than any other professionals that I worked with. I highly recommend All Weather Deck (Scott Otto) and the installer Al Adriance. they are the true professionals.

We had a 30 year old deck that needed to be replaced. Installation went smooth except for a few short delays due to weather, had lots of rain in June. I worked with Warren, always returned calls and emails promptly, always willing to answer questions. We had a small clean up issue with cement water staining cobble stone patio below the deck, was quick to clean up. Roof leaked in a couple of places. Al, the contractor from Rain Out Deck Ceilings, was quick to come back and fix and followed up yesterday after a real bad rain storm to check leaks, of course there were no leaks. I am well satisfied with the work, and professionalism and would recommend All Weather Decks to my friends and neighbors.

Very impressed with their work. The rep helped us solve some logistical problems, stay in code, and maximize our patio space. He also saved us a significant amount on our interior railing while using sturdier materials. Would definitely work with them again.

Our original deck was a good size and shape but it had been poorly installed and the decking material was of inferior quality. Cass inspected the supporting structure of the deck and decided we could save that part and just resurface it. He did some structural repair to make it more sound, removed the old decking and laid down a new composite decking material. We also added an arbor on two sides and changed the railings. Basically we rebuilt the entire deck except the frame. Case was great to work with. His crew was very professional and the overall results are terrific. I highly recommend All Weather Decks.
Description of Work: Removed existing decking and handrails from old deck. Installed new EverGrain composite decking, including one set of steps with a gate and new cedar handrails with black powder-coated aluminum spindles. Built a rough cedar arbor over 2/3 of deck. Power washed and stain/sealed new cedar handrails and arbor.

Deck looks great. The clean up was less than desired so I had to have them come back to clean up. The return clean up was better still not what I thought it should have been. Granted they did the work in January during one of the coldest stretches this winter. Alex and the crew worked hard in that cold weather and even on some holidays and weekends when the weather was better.

Quote response was great, was able to meet with us within a week and provided a quote via email within a few days. We had considerable questions and adjustments which were responded to quickly. Existing deck tear down took a day, then we had bad weather and deck construction was delayed a week. During this time there really wasn't much communication on when and what would be done. I think because it is outside and they don't need the homeowner there they just sort of come and go when the job demands it without any communication with the homeowner. Didn't bother us, but reading some reviews on Angie's List there are clearly people that don't like that type of arrangement, so just pointing it out. Also to note, on a few quotes we received, they stated the existing deck tear down would NOT include removing the existing footings or that it would be an extra cost. All Weather does not have any such statement in their contract, and I can tell you they did not remove our existing footings. So be aware you may have to deal with the old footings after your deck is finished. My suggestion to them is to include a statement in their contracts or in the quoting process on what will be done with the footings. We chose to go with Evergrain composite decking, the framing of the deck is pressure treated with the vertical posts being cedar. Railing between cedar posts was powder coated metal. Our deck is a second story deck in the back (walk out basement) and the size was 19' x 14'. Overall it took a little longer than anticipated due to some extreme cold weather. They do pull permits for their jobs which means the city will come out to inspect the deck. We're in KCMO and there are two inspections; one to view the holes for the footings before pouring concrete, then a final inspection of the overall deck. Our footings inspection failed twice. All Weather didn't get the pre-pour inspection done so it was being done afterwards and there were issues proving to the inspector they were the correct size. In the end All Weather was able to get it resolved. After the deck was completed we noticed two minor issues, contacted All Weather and they had one of their guys out within two days and he fixed those two issues. Overall we are happy with the finished product and would recommend All-Weather to other homeowners.

Scott was the only contractor we talked to that offered suggestions on how to build our deck and pergola. We knew we wanted the trek type decking materials and he provided samples and suggestions. the other contractors kept telling us we wouldn't be able to do the full 21 feet length of back of our house, but Scott worked out a plan to 'box in' the boards so we had no seams on the main floor. The only seam of the box was hidden along one of the massive posts he put in to support the deck and pergola. Scott was very professional and easy to work with. The deck looks awesome and we are very glad to have it completed in a timely fashion.

Price: I would give All-Weather Decks a better grade given more time to see how the patio holds up. Their pricing was competitive though, and they were excellent at helping to shape the quote to meet my needs. Craftsmanship: When the relief lines were cut into the patio, there was some chipping right near the doorway. This was unfortunate because it is near an area that receives plenty of visibility. I likely still would not have noticed the chipping if it had been anywhere else. That said, I love the job that was done on all other phases (stain, stamp, masonry, etc.) of the patio, firepit, and sitting wall. Responsiveness: I never had an issue with having to wait to hear back from my rep (Steve). He was helpful in meeting some very minor requests after the initial work was completed. Punctuality: I was not available to gauge the exact time of work starting and finishing, but my wife reported no issues. Professionalism: I downgraded here for two reasons: Their ability to provide me with an image or sketch of what my patio would look like was lacking (other companies had a very nice sketch set to scale). Additionally, I was assured that their wouldn't be heavy equipment in the yard, and some piece of equipment with tread was moved through the backyard when the yard was extremely wet causing destruction and deformation of the sod once dried. Overall: I really liked working with All-Weather Decks. I feel like my concerns listed above are all minor and due to chance or poor luck. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a competitive bid for a deck or patio.

Initial impression was good, but the service that followed was a bit disappointing. Overall, long drawn out process, minimal communication or follow through, but after a few headaches and a long wait a nice quality deck in the end. Details: Delay in starting with no notice. Project took over 3 weeks, when we were told it would be 5-6 days. Deck torn down and left without one for 10 days and no where to let our dogs out. Our only communication during the project was with the worker, not Cass, the owner. He (owner) never checked in to see how the project was going. Presented with design challenges such as column positioning and stair design during the project, which could have been prevented with more detail in the design phase, prior to building. Had to figure these out on the spot with the worker. There were days when no work was done, further delaying the project. Received a phone call at the end, asking about payment. I requested a walk through to discuss punch list items. During this meeting, he did not inspect the work, but left it to us to point out what we were not happy about. There were areas that had screws that had popped through while drilling, were re-screwed and holes filled with putty. Since it looked like a patch, we wanted that portion of the railings replaced. Punch list items finally completed, but again no call to see if we were happy with the project. Just a call for the final payment. We love our new deck, I just think the process to get there could have been much better.

Steve, the sales and project manager, was extremely helpful in design ideas and took all our questions and ideas into consideration, incorporating those that were both financially and physically feasible. The laborers were extremely skilled and were very prompt in arriving on time and working diligently on our project. They were also very considerate in asking our opinions and ideas for even the most minute detail. They worked during the most horrendous conditions of cold and wind on the north side of our house, during the earliest and coldest November on record. I told Steve at the onset we wanted the deck completed in two weeks as per the contract. However, it took them three weeks, through no fault of All Weather. We kept adding details and adding things so the extension was totally our responsibility. We love the new deck and are having a hard time waiting until Spring to share it with friends and family.

My experience with Cass and his company was very positive. Cass handled things very professionally throughout the process. He was on time for the initial appointment, provided a detailed bid, and was receptive to changes I wanted to make in the contract. Crews were delayed by the weather, but the company let us know when to expect the different crews. The quality of work done was excellent. The crews made sure to communicate with us to see what options we wanted, and were willing to make adjustments as necessary. They used high quality materials and the workmanship on all aspects of the project was great. Some minor damage done to window frames while deck was constructed, but Cass was willing to have that repaired by the window company and deduct cost of repair from agreed amount. Overall, I was very pleased with Cass and his company and will use them for other outside the house projects.

The work turned out excellent! The corner fireplace was done with detail and consideration to tying with stone walls and previous feel of deck. It is an enhancement and wonderfully increases ability to use deck in cooler/colder weather, however it was thought out and ties so well that it looks like it was part of the original construction. The Super Screen and patio door were also meticulously installed, providing increased functionality and higher-end look.

Although hampered by rainy weather, Cass Brinkman kept me in the loop and ended up building a great deck. I had several special requirements--build around a tree, match the deck to meet up with my side porch, build it tall enough to park under, etc. All Weather Decks met all my requirements with no complaints. In the end there were a few things I wasn't 100% in love with and when I mentioned them, they were changed immediately. The deck is lovely, exactly what I wanted, and I'm loving it. Cass is great to work with, very customer service oriented, and just a nice guy. The price was high, but worth it in the end.

Because of high demand, our project did not get started until 8 weeks after we signed the initial contract. All Weather Decks (AWD) was upfront with us about when they could begin. The entire project took about 2 and a half months from start to finish and involved demolition crews, concrete crews, deck and pergola construction crews and painters for staining the pergola and posts on the deck. Scott Otto was our AWD contact and project manager. He was excellent at getting back to us with detailed cost estimates, changes in our project plan and keeping all the crews moving. We were very satisfied with All Weather Deck and the way they professionally managed the project.
