I felt they went above and beyond by showing up on a Saturday with no additional cost and making the calls to Trane to find out what was covered by the manufacturer rather than just selling me a new one. I plan to use them for the repairs and would highly recommend them for your heating and cooling needs.
Description of Work: I bought the $49.00 Big Deal which was a 20 point tune up on my air conditioner. I called them on a Saturday morning expecting to leave a message to schedule the visit. A live person answered the phone and said she would have a technician call me to schedule. About an hour later they called and asked if we wanted to schedule for same day. I didn't want to pay extra for weekend service and he said there were no additional charges and he could be there by 6 or 6:30. Upon arrival he found that mice had chewed some wires in our unit. He replaced them and cleaned everything. He also said there was no coolant so he went looking for the leak. He found the leak in our A Coil. The unit had a sheet metal cover that was too close to the coil and the vibration eventually wore a hole. His estimate was that it would be around a $2000 job to replace the coil since they were aluminum and couldn't be repaired. He took down all the serial numbers and said he would call Trane to find out what was covered since the unit was not very old. The called me first thing Monday morning to let me know Trane warranty covers the parts but not the labor.

+ -1 moreTechnician was very courteous and professional throughout the visit. He also replaced our filters as part of the service which is very nice because I never get around to doing it. One of the filters is a very odd size so the technician actually went to his truck and made a customized one with no complaint or signs of annoyance. In the end I was pleased to learn that they were not tr,yang to scam me into overhauling the syste because he only mentioned that that the water pump on the heating unit would be in need of replacement soon. The technician also gave me documentation of his findings including the cost of replacing the pump but did not try to pressure me into buying it at all. This alone was a great deal for what I paid but they will also come out and do it all again before winter. I hope they offer this deal again next year.
Description of Work: Examined every facet of our heating and cooling systems both when running and while unused. Gave me complete breakdown on the entire system complete with parts in need of replacement and parts that were getting old and may need to be repaired/replaced in the next few years.

+ -1 moreI purchased the Spring/Fall maintenance agreement and Santa Fe gave me the Angie's List deal. The technician was on time. My air conditioning unit was having difficulty cooling the house so I expected repairs. The technician was surprised at the state of the unit both inside and out. I bought my house 3 years ago and have had it serviced every year, but no one has ever reported the issues that were discovered by Santa Fe. Some of them were serious safety issues. The service and repairs took a couple of hours and the technician stayed with it until things worked and looked great. I have confidence that Santa Fe will help me extend the life of my existing unit as long as possible. I also use Santa Fe at my place of business and they are very responsive and thorough at the commercial level too. This is a great company.

+ -1 moreMy husband was home when they came. They actually came early, having called first to make sure it was okay if they came out earlier than originally scheduled. They determined there was something wring with the air flow, and fixed it on the spot. They made a few other adjustments, which have improved our overall experience with our air conditioning. We were so pleased, we signed up to have them come out 2x a year to look at the furnace (in the fall), too.

The install and setup of the new Solar array was flawless. Duane handled everything that needed to happen with the energy company for me and set up my monitoring software to help us keep tabs on our new power creation! We are absolutely using them again when we expand our array.

He explained all pertinent facets of the tune-up and service and did so very appropriately. I have always been pleased with the service provided by Santa Fe Air Conditioning.
Description of Work: This was a spring tune-up of the air conditioning unit. It was covered as a part of my service agreement with Santa Fe. The air filter was also changed at the time of the tune-up.

+ 0 moreDuane and the Santa Fe team are fantastic. This wasn't the biggest or the easiest job (we have a steep roof with a small yard for staging), and it was handled smoothly and professionally. The panels work exactly as advertised. I really appreciated Duane's candor during the bidding process, as well. He did not try to sell us on an unnecessarily large system, and was completely transparent that, for example, partially-shaded panels just wouldn't work well. He also directed us towards high quality equipment that should run for decades. With the hoopla over solar credits and such, some other vendors we got bids from were less forthright. Since the install, Duane has been responsive to any questions we've had, and even replaced a dud IP-over-power box that flaked out after a few months of operation. We couldn't be happier with our solar experience and highly recommend Santa Fe.
Description of Work: Installed 10 300W Solar Panels and all required support hardware (micro-inverters, router, conduit, etc.) Managed all interaction with the utility, permits, etc.

+ -1 moreSince they couldn't find the leak, we were told it could be very expensive. To start the process would be a minimum of $150.00 with no guarantees.. We asked for a bid to replace the unit which came in over 5K. We called another company for a competitive bid on a replacement unit. The leak was in plain site in the line going to the unit, not even in the coils. The new company fixed the Heat Pump for $140.00. We also found out they had been over filing and over charging with Freon. One of our pumps was overfilled by a pound. On a different unit we had a major repairs to Heat Pumps within a short time of their routine inspection. Our home is all electric so the missed problem added over $800.00 to the electric bill besides the $400.00 charge to repair the heat pump. Please interview other HVAC companies before using their service.
Description of Work: They added more coolant to our Heat Pump for the 4th time. Last year they added and we paid for Stop Leak without success. We also pay them for routine unit checks. They inspect our units 3 times a year.

+ -1 moreI am totally disappointed with both Santa Fe and Goodman. I certainly would not deal with either of them in the future, nor would I purchase any HVAC system component that claims to be an authentic Amana product.
Description of Work: In September of 2007 I purchased an Amana heat-pump and furnace system from Santa Fe without being advised that Amana no longer offers these products. Instead, I find that the name is licensed to one Goodman Airconditining & Heating for use with their products. The system had multiple problems from the first day of operation. The thermostat had to be replaced, the humidifier didn't work, a valve in the coolant line malfunctioned, the condenser fan failed, etc. Finally, after a period of sub-freezing weather and a 5-inch snow-fall the temperature rose into the 40s and system failed when it switched to heat-pump service. The problem was that the condenser was completely filled with snow and ice. The service tech was unable to get it back on line and advised me to use the back-up gas heat till the ice melted naturally. For this call I was billed $79 on the contention that the problem was an "act of nature." When I objected to this, the reason for the warrantee not applying was changed with reference to an obscure item in Goodman's warrantee document and I was told that I should "find another service company for any future needs."

+ -1 moreWithin a matter of months the thermostat had to be replaced, the humidifier didn't work properly, a valve in the coolant line malfunctioned, the condenser fan failed... etc. Finally, in the winter of 2009-10 after a long period of sub-freezing weather and a 5-inch snow fall, the temperature rose back into the 40s and the system automatically switched to heat-pump heating mode.. and immediately failed. The technician who responded quickly discovered that the problem was that the condenser unit was filled with ice and snow. He tried to thaw it out that failed and he told me to use the furnace heat till warmer weather thawed the condenser. Later I was billed $79 for this service call on the basis of it being outside the warrantee terms as "an act of nature." When I complained that the problem did not meet the standard terms of an act of nature the bill was issued again, this time with reference to a fine-print provision of the warrantee... and that's when I was asked to use another company for maintenance of the system.
Description of Work: I have never had to issue a negative evaluation of an Angieslist company. Unfortunately this is the exception. In September of 2007 I purchased an Amama heat-pump and furnace system from Santa Fe based based on being shown Amana brand literature but without being told that the Amana brand had been sold to Goodman Airconditioning and Refrigeration for use with their products. The system has had multiple problems from the first day of operation requiring repeated visits by technicians. In the end the manager of Santa Fe told me to use another company for maintenance of the system, despite some of the warrantee period having years to go.

+ -1 moreEstimate was provided in a straight forward, plain language manner. There was no inflated retail price with a variety of "this week only" discounts. The salesman was helpful in getting the credit provided by our local utility. The installers arrived on time, performed the work and left with a clean work area. The thermostat originally installed did not work properly and the installer returned the next day to install a new one, which is working. The only problem we had was the installers started their work truck and left it running in our driveway with our garage doors open. We had exhaust fumes in our home for a couple of hours. At this time we are very satisfied with the work and responsiveness to our needs.

+ -1 moreI felt that the trip charge was a little bit unreasonable for how close we are to their facility. I know that the Freon is expensive and all but I think they charged us too much. I haven't had any problems with the unit since. They were quickly in and out. I was very pleased with the service that I received. It was just the trip charge that got me. I felt like they were responsive in coming out and they diagnosed the problem correctly. I was satisfied with their work. I'll be calling them again in the future.
