 + -1 moreWe called A-1 due to the write-up on Angie's List and because of recommendations from people we know in the building trade. Due to our tight time frame, the owner came out for the appointment to provide an estimate. Unfortunately, the sellers tried to address the problem first by tuckpointing the bricks and sealing the cracks with mortar. This was not what we wanted but we do not have any other choice since it cannot be slab jacked unless it cracks again. A-1 was very professional and informative and I will definitely use them if/when they settle again. Excellent process and a VERY FAIR QUOTE.
Description of Work: We are purchasing a house that has settlement on both the side stoop and front stoop/entryway. In negotiation, we asked that both stoops be corrected because the bricks were coming apart and it was not attractive to the eye.

Description of Work: Our front porch was sinking toward the house allowing water to hit the foundation. A-1 raised the porch and leveled the attached sidewalk. No more water and what a difference in the look of the house!! This was much less expensive than replacing and re-pouring the whole kit and kaboodle.

 + -1 moreA-1 Concrete Leveling said that leveling would not be the appropriate remedy and gave me the name of another contractor, who, he said, would know what could be done. I used A-1 in the past to raise a walk. Although the sidewalk sank again in a few years, they came back and repeated the procedure at a reduced price, saying that if it happened again they'd do it again at no charge.
Description of Work: One section of our 5-section patio has risen 3/4'' in the center, fallen slightly at the foundation of the house.

 + -1 moreExtremely good company to deal with and great job. We're amazed that they were able to save the garage! We had arranged for the work to be done in early December but weather delayed it until mid-Dec. They were ready to do it but we had a medical emergency that required family to stay in the house they would be working on. They agreed to wait until after the 1st of the year. They finished the job on Jan. 13th. We are very happy with them and the job.
Description of Work: Both side walls of a large double garage and workshop (daylight entry but primarily underground) had bowed inward causing cracks and water leaks. Heavy concrete floor above was too heavy for the walls. (The house was built in 1941 but the garage and room above were added later but before 1985.) A-1 excavated the dirt along both side walls to floor level, pushed the walls into proper position, drilled holes in the cement blocks, filled the blocks with rebar and concrete, braced the walls from inside the garage, tarred and wrapped the entire underground exterior with waterproof polywrap, backfilled the walls. Braces remain for 4 weeks to ensure proper setting of the concrete.

 + -1 moreTHEY CAME OUT ON TIME AND LOOKED AT THE CONCRETE PAD AND TOLD US THAT BECAUSE THE PAD WAS ONLY ABOUT 4'', IT PROBABLY WOULD NOT WITHSTAND THE LIFTING PROCESS AND WOULD CRACK. HE GAVE US A SUGGESTION TO LIFT IT OURSELVES. WE WERE VERY APPRECIATIVE OF HIS HONESTY AND HELPFULNESS.

Description of Work: TWO PANELS OF DRIVEWAY WERE CRACKED DUE TO SETTLING AT ONE END. AND, A NUMBER OF SECTIONS OF SIDEWALK, IN FRONT OF HOUSE; AND FROM DRIVE TO FRONT DOOR, WERE SETTLED; CAUSING WATER TO POND AFTER RAINS. DRIVEWAY WAS RAISED TO MATCH LEVEL OF GARAGE FLOOR. SIDEWALK SECTIONS NOW SHOW NO INDICATION THEY EVER SAGGED. AND, IF I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR, I WOULD BE PRESSED TO EVEN SAY THEY HAD EVEN BEEN HERE.
