+ 0 moreDeposit paid on 4-10-12 of $1,200 Work performed on 5-13,14,15-12. Work was good and does appear to now have stabalized the porch and steps. The know their job. I am unhappy with how they returned dirt to hole. Instead of using water to melt the clay back in the hole, they filled in and attempted to pack. This left mounds of clay about a foot high. He said it would settle. The only thing that settle was the drain tile connected to the downspout? I called for help and I don't recall receiving response other than I will check it out as soon as i can. 5 months later the mounds are still not settled in and I have watered them a lot. They have still not recommended my downspout
Description of Work: 1. Level two concrete steps. 2. Jacked the corner of my porch about 3 to 5 inches.

+ 0 moreRon came out for the estimate, showing us that we didn't need a pier system but rather some mudfill to level the porch. Set the work date for about a month later due to schedule conflicts but they could have done the work about 2 weeks later. They drilled, filled and patched and were done in about an hour and a half. Two year guarantee on the work.
Description of Work: Our front porch was sinking. A1 Concrete came out and drilled holes to backfill/mudfill to bring it back to level. They were prompt and professional. They answered all my questions and we discussed prevention and possible additional repairs needed. I still need to resurface for cosmetic reasons.

+ -1 moreThe sidewalk had settled approximately 3 inches below the driveway. In addition, the steps leading to the porch had settled and pulled away from the porch. A-1 not only assessed and extimated the work, but also gave me a lot of information on how to prevent future concrete and foundation issues. The work was done a week later. The workers were very courteous and professional. All the work was completed and the area cleaned up in about an hour. The sidewalk looks terrific!

+ 0 moreA1 Leveling was at the service address on time and went right to work. They were efficient and professional. I was able to comfortably ask questions. They were careful to clean up in the living room where the leveling took place. On the driveway, they did an excellent job. They leveled it most of the way, but had to wait for Metzinger Construction to reconcrete the garage so they could finish leveling driveway without it being higher than garage floor would be. Cost was as shown on estimate. Crew was courteous and professional. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Description of Work: Our large front steps had fallen approximately 8-10 inches. A-1 gave us an estimate to repair which was far below the cost of replacing. He was very honest in stating this would not be a permanent fix, but should last for several years. A-1 would drill holes in the existing concrete and insert a substance that would raise the steps to the correct level with the porch.

+ -1 moreThis is one of the service experiences that seem too good to be true, but I am really glad Ron came out and gave me his professional opinion - not a sales pitch. I had heard horror stories of homeowners spending tens of thousands for foundation repair systems that didn't work. This experience was the exact opposite, and I'd recommend this company to others seeking honest advice and top-notch professionalism in a foundation repair or concrete leveling contractor.
Description of Work: I had noticed a small crack running around my home's cinder-block basement walls. To me, this was an indication of a potentially costly foundation repair. Wanting a professional's opinion, I called A-1 based on the positive nature of all the other reviews I had read here on Angie's List. The office manager set an appointment for an estimate and on the estimate date, Ron Bowen, the president/owner, showed up right on time and inspected the crack. He looked at both the inside and outside foundation areas, pointing out issues I had with the drainage and grade of soil surrounding the foundation. In the end, he acknowledged that there was a foundation issue due to hydrostatic pressure, but it was a small one that could be stymied or corrected by making relatively inexpensive adjustments to the downspouts, soil and grade to help improve the drainage around the house. The best part of this whole experience was Ron's honest and assessment and advice during the free estimate - no sales pressure, no scare tactics and genuine empathy about the concerns I had about the foundation.

+ -1 moreSeveral years ago we had our rear garage wall stabilized but the floor was not addressed at the same time. Ron came out and gave us a quote for having the work done. I also appreciated that he asked me to have a plumber check out the plumbing to make sure that there were no undiscovered leaks that were causing the problem (which there weren't). The A-1 workers showed up and were very courteous. They explained what they would be doing and did their work efficiently. Did a good job cleaning up afterwards too. I would hire A-1 again and have already recommended them to a friend.

It created a lot of problems for them but they didn’t increase the price; they stuck with the first price. They seemed to know what they were doing. They got in, got it done, and got out.
Description of Work: We used A-1 Concrete Leveling last fall in early November. It cost $7200 and we got a 10% discount because we used Angie’s List. It was actually an $8000 job.

+ -1 moreI called for an estimate, someone from the company came out and left the estimate at my front door. I did not have to be home for them to do the estimate. They followed up a couple of days later, at which time I indicated that I would like to have the work done. The day the work was preformed, two men showed up on time and proceeded with the job. They drilled holes in the areas that were to be leveled and then pumped the leveling compound into the holes. Then they plugged the holes and sealed them with concrete. They were very professional and courteous at all times. They cleaned up the work site so that you would never have known that they were there. They even explained to me before they started the job that there was one area that probably would not level all the way, I appreciated the honesty and was glad that I was informed ahead of time and not after. Overall, this company and it's employees preformed excellent service from the receptionist at the office to the men who did the work.
Description of Work: They leveled five sections of concrete on our front walkway and one concrete pad outside of the entrance door of our garage.

I saw what a great job they did and so I asked one of the workers if they did the kind of work that I needed. He was so nice and polite, and answered yes. Then I called the company and set up an appointment. The lady that answered the phone was very professional and nice too! Then an estimator came out and he was really nice and professional and then the guys that did the work were nice and professional too! I think that this company's name is spot on, A-1. They certainly do A-1 work!
Description of Work: The chipmunks had tunneled under the apron between the garage and driveway and caused it to drop about four inches on one end. A-1 lifted up the apron and restored it to perfectly level. It looks fantastic!! There was a discount for Angie's list too!

The job ended up being more involved than what they knew they were getting into and they had to dig considerably deeper than what would be considered "normal"...but they held true to their estimate and did a great job cleaning up. I can't speak highly enough about the quality of their work - and clean-up. If we run into any concrete issues again in the future - A-1 will be the one and only call we make.

+ 0 moreOutstanding experience from start to finish. Josh of A-1 showed up exactly when expected, performed mud-jacking services on front step and along huge patio in back yard. The concrete had settled approximately 4.5 inches toward the house and had become a safety and drainage concern. A-1 worked for around 6.5 hours through finish with no breaks and completely cleaned its work area when finished. The price paid matched the quote. Hope to avoid further concrete settling, but I'll be glad to refer their services around.

+ -1 moreThe stone tiles were not laid directly on the concrete steps beneath, making this job much more complicated than expected. They removed stone tiles and worked with my mason, making a repeat trip until the steps were perfectly leveled. I did not have to ask them to return, they told me the steps weren't perfect and they would come back after the mason had removed the stone tiles they could not remove themselves. Even my mason was impressed with the mud jacking job! And, they still honored the original estimate. Would use again!

+ -1 moreThe came out and gave me an estimate of $250.00. When they came back to do the work, they realized that the structure of my from stoop would not allow them to complete the job as intended. They were able to lift the back part, but the front couldn't be lifted as high as it should have been. They were very honest and offered to not charge me since they couldn't do what had been promised. I offered to pay half as they did come out and were able to perform part of the job, which did help the situation quite a bit.

+ -1 moreThey had one problem with a drill sticking under concrete but they were able to remove it with persistence. One of the workers gave me tips on how to calk and and add sand to fill cracks, in the event this procedure needed to be done again in the future. The finished raising and leveling was guaranteed for two years. They finished the repair in a reasonable period of time despite the problem with the drill bit sticking in one of the holes.
Description of Work: They raised step to front porch and leveled first concrete walkway leading from that step. They were polite and professional and cleaned up all work areas.

+ 1 moreOverall, everything went very smoothly. At one point in the project, they ran into an unexpected issue which required Ron to purchased some additional hardware. However, Ron told us that his additional expense would not result in any increase in our final price for the job. Ron and all of his crew were very professional and courteous. Although nobody wants to deal with foundation issues, if you ever have to, we would definitely recommend using A-1!!
Description of Work: We were experiencing some settling issues on one corner of our home. Ron, the owner, came out and gave us an estimate to use push piers to raise the foundation back up to its original position. We obtained several estimates, but it was apparent to us that Ron had extensive experience in foundation repair, and knew what needed to be done. He and his crew began the work about 1 month after we signed the contract, and they completed the job in 4 days. They dug a trench, installed several piers, raised the corner of our home almost all the way back to its original position, touched up the remaining cracks in the mortar, and cleaned up the worksite.
