Mason's Northside Concrete

Mike and his assistant helped me prep the area with draping of the door and window. Then they went to work and were thorough and professional. The process took 3 days to allow for drying time between steps.

They came out to give an estimate and they were pretty prompt with their response so I decided to go with them. Well after I decided to go with them I did not hear from them for weeks and weeks so I called them and let them know I was going with someone else. They really wanted to do the work for me so I gave them the chance to do the work. They did not come out when they were supposed. They randomly came out one day and poured the concrete when I wasn’t there and this was after it had been raining for about 3 days straight. It is starting to crack again and we have been unable to get in touch with them to get them to fix the crack in the driveway. Not only is there a crack, but this was a terrible job as the driveway is very rough which allows dirt settles in the driveway and it looks dirty all the time. One other thing is that we were concerned that they laid the rock that goes underneath the concrete wrong. They were supposed to have a compactor to flatten the rock on the driveway before they laid the concrete and we never saw the machine in the time they were here doing the work.

I had several cracks and broken concrete in my driveway and requested a quote for Mason's Northside Concrete. ( This was one of several quotes) Upon delivering the quote they reviewed exactly what the process was for replacing my drive way from start to finish. As I was going out of town that week I had asked a contractor friend to oversee the process and answer any questions they might have. He was very impressed with the process and detail to workmanship demonstrated by Mason's. As was I. I was also impressed with the fact they are a family owned and operated local company. I would strongly recommend getting a quote from them if you are thinking of replacing you driveway.

There was a week or so where I didn't hear from them after I initially told them I wanted their company to do the work for me, I finally got the phone call about doing the job and we scheduled a day for them to come out and replace the step. I wasn't in a big hurry to have it done, so I didn't really care about the delay. I may have felt differently for a different project around my house. After they got in touch and scheduled the work, things worked fine. The step looks great, and we've had no problems with it settling or cracking.

Price wise they were not the best price. Quality wise it appears to be good. They found the problem and fixed it. That was good because we had other people out here who were not able to identify what our issue was and they were able to. As for punctuality they took better than 2 weeks to get it done after they ripped up the porch. But if some were dependent and some were not dependent, they just decided to come. Professionally they were great. I would use them in the future.

The men arrived Monday morning with a Bobcat to remove the existing drive and walk which was accomplished in two days. After removing and framing the drive and walk, a layer of crushed shell was put down and compacted to give a good base for the concrete, and 1/2 inch rebar was placed around the edges of the drive which was then lifted off the ground once the cement was poured. On Friday the drive and walk was poured. (My wife and I are very pleased with the trile work that was performed on the walk and around the borders of the driveway). Saturday the framing was removed and the expansion joints were cut in the driveway. The men replaced the dirt that was removed for the framing and cleaned the area well before leaving. If there was at any time during the job they were not sure how I might want the finished product to look they would always ask before proceeding. I found the men very friendly, easy to talk with and very professional in their work. Over all I am very pleased with the men doing the work and the finished product.

They did a beautiful job. I had three people come before Mason's and they all told me that they could not do the work, Mason's got the job done and we are very satisfied!

This is a family owned company. The father was great about showing up on time for our appointments. However, the son wasn’t as timely, and he was in charge of the project. There were several times when I would have to call him to see if he where he was at. I disliked the complete lack of communication about being late the most. That being said, I think their work turned out very well.

The only complaint I could have is that they didn't start the work during the estimate time interval I was given. They were approximately 10 days late. I cannot fault them for the timing delay, as the weather in late June and early July was somewhat stormy and unpredictable. As it ended up, the crew worked during most of the current 90 degree hot spell. Their workmanship was first rate and cleanup was great. I would have no second thoughts about hiring Mason's Northside Concrete to do any of my concrete work.

Work done initially was OK. When complete project looked fine. It took a little longer than estimated, but not a big deal. I waited to submit a report because I wanted to see how the work held up over the near term. The main issue I have is their complete lack of responsiveness in addressing some quality problems. A section of the driveway began cracking within the first year and has begun crumbling away. I called Mason's several times and once spoke directly with Mike. Each time I was told that they would come and check-out the problem. First call was ~ 3 months ago with the last call ~6 weeks ago. Never showed.

Lousy- Mr. Mason did not show. Mostly feel frustrated as I too time off from work to be here. Call to our answering machine came way after the appt time- about two or three hours and did not help by then as I had missed time off work to be here. Did not get the message till late, and never got a bid. WOuld not use again.

It was excellent because of the quality of their work and their timeliness. They came highly recommended by Angie?s and some of my neighbors have used them as well. I didn?t take the highest or the lowest price; they were right in the middle.

Mike Jr. was responsible for powerwashing our driveway and front sidewalk which was completed while we were out of town. The job was done to our satisfaction. Mike was also responsible for epoxying out garage floor which had to be done 3 times. The reason for the problem was that the floor was not prepared properly to begin with. Mike did not feel that our floor needed to be acid washed to prepare it which turned out to be exactly what needed to be done. The first time that the floor was epoxyed and after waiting at least 48 hr. before we drove on it the epoxy peeled off on our car tires the first time that we drove on it. The second time the floor had to be sanded down to the concrete which was a dusty, dirty process which they started without covering anything so everything in the garage was covered with dust. Once that process was completed the acid wash was applied but for some reason the color on the 2 sides of the garage was not the same and so the floor needed to be sanded and acid washed again. The third time was the winner this time the epoxy stayed on the floor and the 2 sides matched. Because this entire project took at least 3 weeks to complete it was necessary to have all of the items in our garage outside which meant that it not only looked unsightly to our neighbors but everything was soggy from being left out in the rain for so long and damaged in some cases. Mike rarely lets us know when he would be at our house to work and sometimes would show up late in the day. He never called us to say when he would be here or if he would be late. Fortunately, the third time was the charm and the floor looked great. The epoxy stayed on the floor and not on our tires where it belonged and the color was the same on the entire garage floor. We are happy with the final result.

Project was a complete success. Mike and his team were prompt and professional. Kept the site clean during the job. Would recommend.

Everything was done as scheduled and in a timely manner. Cleaned up after work was done. Some landscaping stones had to be removed to pour the front sidewalk and they threw them on top of my day lilies and grasses while they worked so the day lilies were smashed and done for the year, and the grasses were beaten down. But side walk looks very nice and they relaid the stone properly. Everyone who came to work was very pleasant and courteous.

The old patio was removed and re-poured. My husband watched carefully during the installation and found that everything was done as it was specified and discussed. We requested a beige drain instead of a white one which Mike was able to find. They connected the drain to the down spout and trenched the hose out toward our ravine. We are very pleased with the way the finished product looked!!

We had two companies come and look, and we went with these guys. They came and took a look with minimal distraction. They tore out and old patio and put in a new one. It was very hot at the time, and they took out the old patio with sledge hammers--we were very impressed with the hard work they did for us. My husband liked them enough that he ended up sending tips for the workers.

I don't know how many crews Mike, the owner has, you definitely don't want to use the crew he sent to us. They don't show up when they said they will, sometimes for days. They didn't pay much attention to my concerns so they have to fix things after wards which mostly took them long time and some of the problems they can not fix because it was already too late. I can't not remember how many phone calls I made to them to address the problems and ask them to come back. Sometimes, the secretary just avoid my calls when she recognized my number on her caller ID. Very unprofessional. I asked for a paid invoice and never got it.

Workers were on time and very neat with careful attention to detail. Result was a beautiful, useful patio.

(06/12/2010) They were unpredictable from the get go. Once they did show up to do the work, the steps looked great but they spilled sealant on our sidewalk. They committed to cleaning it up but they failed to show at the scheduled time. They refuse to return numerous telephone messages and fail to respond to my emails. When I searched them on the list they had a very high rating... UPDATE (06/21/2010) In fairness to this contractor I wanted to follow-up to my June 12, 2010 report. I was pleased to discover this weekend that someone had showed up late last week to pick up the materials left behind on our front porch and to clean up the sealant they spilled on our front sidewalk. Everything looks much better.

He the seal looks great. But the cracks are now coming out and need redone. He won't return my phone calls.

They did my porch and a wheelchair ramp. At every step, they kept me informed of what they were doing. That was really good. When we made the original plans, they had to deviate just a little but they let me know about it and they did an excellent job.

Overall I was extremely impressed by the professionalism of Mason's Northside Concrete and the final work product has been great. Mike answered questions as they arose and was onsite during the project to supervise. His pricing was competitive and given the quality of the work performed more than fair. I would use this company again in the future with no hesitation.

It went very well. They cleaned up, didn't smear concrete on the brick foundation, and didn't damage the lawn in the process. I would definitely hire them again.
