It went great. The work they did was terrific. The only problem was the weather, which no one could control. They did the tear out, then had to wait two or three weeks before they could pour. They then poured and got the color in, but the weather got bad again. They waited again, but came back and finished once the weather warmed up. They communicated well with me, which was appreciated. Everything, that they could control, went smoothly and the results are wonderful; it looks terrific. They were doing such a nice job that some neighbors that were watching the work, decided to hire them to do their front porch.
Description of Work: They removed my old concrete porch, then poured a new, decorative, porch and steps.

There work was very professional, fast, and thorough. The new sections of sidewalk have been attached to the porch and the color match is very close. My wife and I are extremely pleased with the results and highly recommend Mason's Northside concrete.
Description of Work: Mason's Northside Concrete replaced two sections of sidewalk leading up to the front porch. The sidewalk had settled and become detached from the front porch leaving a jagged unsightly gap that was an uncomfortably high step.

Went very well. Mike and his crew are real pros. It did take a bit longer to get the work done than I anticipated [a month] but I judge things by the finished product and I am 100% satisfied with the work. Well worth waiting for the level of quality.

I had them come out. I had some cracks in my concrete patio. He told me it was a small job. I waited 2 weeks and they called one morning to come out and I couldn't do it until 2pm that day. They never called. The next day they just popped in early in the morning. I called the owner to inform him of this and that it looked like they didn't clean the cracks out before putting the silicone. The owner told me that he asked the employee and yes they did clean out the cracks. I went to Home Depot to ask if it would actually work and seal the cracks and they did tell me that yes it would work. If I had known that they were just going to do that then I could have done it myself for $15. I was under the impression that they would actually be sealing my cracks not with just silicone. I did not like the fact that they did not call before they came and just showed up to my door. I would not recommend them and wish that I was better informed about the work they did.

Response from Mason's Northside Concrete
[removed member name] When Mike came and quoted an estimate, he fully explained the process of what Masons Northside Concrete would do to fix the cracks. You were in agreement with what Mike spoke with you about and the process our company uses. As far as the miscommunication on when the crew came out, I would like to apologize. The 2 week time frame, was in order of the work schedule already in place. Once a customer gives our company the go ahead for work, the customer is placed in the schedule queue, and in fairness to all our customers we try to keep to this scheduling.

It was a good experience. They promptly responded to my call with a detailed estimate, had years of experience, and did a very thorough job. Specifically, they moved all of the furniture from the patio before pressure washing and sealing it, and they filled its cracks with silicon. Ultimately, they did a great job for a competitive price, and I'm very happy with the state of the patio.

"No Job Too Small" is their motto and a true one. Many other concrete firms quoted a price over the phone that obviously indicated their preference for larger jobs, as I expected when I started this small project of appx. 100 square feet from the front porch to the driveway. All three had been replaced at the same time, but the sidewalk portion was poured last from the truck after it was too old. thus, over the next ten or so years, it started to crumble apart into flakes and stone. A skim coat lasted about five years, but it too began to deteriorate. Mason himself came out and gave the estimate, and it was obvious from his questions that he knew what he was about. He explained all that was wrong with the prior pour, including how it was off line, not slanted to drain the water from rain (hence the mildew spots in the middle), and had no rebar in it. His crew is definitely old school as I watched two strong, robust men break it apart with sledge hammers being careful with the landcaping to either side, including digging up plants to close and putting them a safe distance away. They resighted the alignment with the front porch, carefully graded the underlying stone, framed it, put rebar in, poured and sealed it. Two months later, I can safely say it is a thoroughly professional job no faults observed to date. Worth every penny.

After I contacted Mason's Northside Concrete they promptly came and estimated the job. House steps which had settled needed to be removed and new ones poured. There were four steps with approaches at 90 degree angle and a large landing at the top. The base under the steps needed to be reinforced with rebar to prevent slippage of the steps. The work needed to be coordinated with another contractor who was going to repair damaged siding. They were very accommodating. During the project an additional problem became evident as old brick ( that part of the house was built in 1856) near the steps needed to be tuck pointed and reinforced. This had not been in the original bid, but it made sense to let them complete what needed to be done. They went beyond what they had to do to complete the job, designing a better solution to the walkways approaching the steps. They had to remove two railings and replace them in the new steps...no damage was done in the process. They put a coating on the steps that adds to the attractiveness of the new steps. Couldn't have asked for a better outcome.
Description of Work: We needed to have steps torn out and replaced which had settled back against the house causing a drainage problem. We had put new railings on the steps a few years ago and did not want those damaged. We needed to have some repair done to siding that had been damaged and the two projects had to be coordinated.

I was very pleased with them, and I would use them again.
Description of Work: They patched some cracks in my concrete driveway and porch. They also sealed everything-the porch, sidewalk, and driveway. The father came out to give me an estimate. He was very thorough and very professional. We scheduled a date for him to begin. His son did the work, and he was professional. He was neat; I cannot say enough good about him. He was very polite and worked with us on some things that popped up that we didn’t talk about previously.

We called Mason's Northside Concrete, and we received an estimate appointment within a week of the initial call. The owner, Mark Mason, came out and provided me with the estimated cost on the spot after looking at where we wanted the concrete pad for the basketball court installed. He was very knowledgable, and the price was excellent! We hired them the next day, and they were out within two or three days to begin the preparation of the site. They worked around the trees, sloped the pad beautifully, cut isolation joints with a saw to minimize the deflection of the basketball, sealed it, etc. It took about 3 or 4 days to complete the project. The crew was wonderful and just a delight to work with. We will definitely use them again if/when we decide to do another concrete project.

This company was very hard to communicate with and poor professionalism.
Description of Work: I have called Mason's Nortside Concrete many times about paint remove and resealing a step. Usually they do not call me back. When he did call me back they said that he wanted to wait till it was cooler out. I have been calling the business and leaving messages. When it past 5 months, I decided to hire someone else to do the job. I had to do this because Mason's wasn't replying to most of my messages and I felt like the job was not going to get done before winter. The first time I called them was 5/23/2012 and decided to hire someone else on 11/2/2012. He originally told me that he would start within 3-4 weeks.

They did a good job. The weather was not helpful in scheduling but they did the work as quick as they could. We decided to use them as we had used them in the past. The work could have been quicker if they would have used more than one person. The work was done to our satisfaction but they could have made it go a lot quicker. The quality of the work is good. The young man that came was very professional and knew what he was doing.

Response from Mason's Northside Concrete
Member Masons Northside Concrete would like to thank you for the work opportunity. Even though our estimate was higher than the company you selected, I would like to point out standard practices Masons Northside Concrete implements on each and every job. Our company uses a 4000PSI mix, fiber mesh, rebar re-inforcement, on a compacted base. Although this makes the cost a little more, Masons Northside Concrete implements these practices to ensure the integrity of the concrete. Once again, thank you for the job opportunity, and have a good day. Lynda Office Manager

I requested a quote through the new Angie's List feature from 4 concrete companies. One company informed me they didn't do repair work. This company called me and offered to come out and bid on the project. He visited two days in a row, the second day was to show me a sample of the deck coating. I signed a contract and asked when he could start. He said he would call on Saturday or Sunday to let me know when he'd be out early the following week. I didn't hear anything for two weeks. Then one of the employees called me out of the blue and asked if he could come by and get started. First visit was to power wash and chip the concrete to solid material. Then he left. He eventually came back the same day and patched the area. He let me know to stay off the porch while the patch dried and left. He never mentioned when he'd be back. 2-3 days later he returned to coat the porch, at which time he finally let me know my porch wasn't level, but he would do what he could to build up an area where water was pooling. I paid him, he coated the porch, returned later in the day to seal the porch. The price was okay and the job was well done, but communication was lacking. They also smashed some of my plants and left alot of small bits of debris around the porch.

Mike Sr gave me an estimate that was in line with others, and his explanation of the process was thorough. It was clear they were not going to hurry the processes required to let materials and repairs set prior to the decorative surface. Angies List reviews also gave the impression they would follow up well. Mike Jr and his assistant were professional and did a good job on the repair. The decorative surface developed white patches as soon as the rain cleared, during the weekend after they completed the job on a Friday. I called Mike and he said they could fix that easily. Their schedule and the weather did not allow for the correction to happen last fall. I called the office in late February and spoke with Mike Sr who told me to call to remind them in late March. I called March 23 and spoke with Linda, who said Mike Jr would call me. By March 30 he had not called and I called the office. Linda explained they were busy with sealing jobs and would get with me after April 15. I explained that my job was a sealing job and had been paid for since September. We agreed that Mike would call me. It's April 25 and I have not heard anything.
