I called to have the drain lines fixed on my new sink since they no longer lined up with the old piping. They were extremely friendly and were able to come out within the hour. When the plumber arrived he was extremely friendly and helpful, explaining each step and what I can expect. He also broke down the pricing for me so I was able to understand everything. I will be using the company again for future services.

It was still covered under warranty.
Description of Work: I felt some air coming out. They checked it and it was the putty. I had moved the putty that was there. They fixed it with no problem. They added the warranty. I like that.

They were kind of average. I liked that they were efficient, but the negative thing was that they could've done a little more. We didn't get a good, trusting thing from them. They brought in a 20 something guy to do it. It really didn't exceed our expectations.

The technician did an excellent job with the repair, but seemed to have a bit of difficulty explaining the repair work and the actual cost of the repair. He showed me a catalog that offered a discount on the price, but only if I joined their club. I thought the cost of the repair was excessive; In an effort to cut back on the cost, I purchased the faucet to be installed myself instead of purchasing the faucet from Summers. Even with the $50.00 credit they offered and the cost of the service call being waived, the cost for the faucet repair was still more than $300.00
Description of Work: The faucet in my bathroom sink was loose and lifting up and away from the sink; water pressure was non-existent.

Awful!! Person arriving at my house had a order to repair a sump and didn't seem to know about the Angies Deal. He proceeded to dismantle the sumps and backup and claimed the backup pump was not working. He proceeded to tell me that the backup pump and the battery system would need to be totally replaced. After I challenged his diagnosis he went to his truck to work up an estimate and then drove away from my house. I called the vendors office and was pretty much told I was the problem. Subsequently, with the help of AngiesList I was sent a refund for the price paid. I later scheduled a sump pump system inspection with another vendor who concluded the backup had a bit of a clog that was quickly cleared and the pump worked fine. Also the battery backup and charging system was said to be in excellent condition. I was extremely disappointed with this AngiesList vendor and only hope for other customers sake this was bizarre and infrequent occurance.
Description of Work: This was to be a routine checkup and inspection of a sump pump and its backup systme and batteries as promoted through an Angies List Deal

He got the heater going and told me they WILL go out again. He didn't have the switches on his truck, would order them and he would be out as soon as they came in. This was on Wed. Dec. 14. I asked what I should do if the heater goes out again before he can come back. He said to essentially turn off the heater and start it up again and see if it starts. He DIDN'T tell me that meant I would have to go down into the CRAWL SPACE to turn it off on the heater. I then asked what if it doesn't go on???? He said I will just have to buy some space heaters. I paid a travel charge of $49 with their plan for that advice. Hummmm Not happy with that answer, I called AFFORDABLE HEATING. He came out that day replaced the switches total cost with travel $220. He said that pressure switches is an item that should be on any service truck if the truck had been check carefully daily. Anyway, looks like I saved $102. I find Summers to be extraordinarily high with their charges even with their "service plan".
Description of Work: Failing pressure switches (2) would have cost $273 with their plan plus a $49 travel charge.

I had a problem with my furnace making a loud noise just before it shut off, after having two companies look at it and not knowing what the problem was I had a third opinion. I called summers heating; my lucky day. They sent out Jimmy, he was excellent, he stopped the noise and found an unrelated problem that made the furnace unsafe. Jimmy fount 2 cracks in heat exchanger which I saw with my own eyes. He then plugged in a handheld piece of equipment to light up the heat exchanger so I could see the cracks better. After making a decision I called summers and they installed a new furnace the next day. All of the employees, Jimmy and the install crew, were great, professional, clean, on time, and worked in a timely manner. They left the work area clean and I could not tell they were here. The new furnace worked different from my old one so I called summers and the manger answered my questions in a manner I could understand instead of technical talk; boy what a happy camper.

Needed a new furnace, had several estimates, went with Summer's. The original estimator came right on time, spent a considerable amount of time with us, explaining options. "The estimator told us that two installation techs would come out to get started and then one would leave. However, only one came out for some reason. No matter though, the installation tech was very professional, very thorough, had to take his time because there was only one of him! Did a good job explaining the wifi thermostat, showed us all the features of the furnace and the humidifier. We ended up getting a 96% efficient furnace, so looking forward to some smaller gas and electric bills coming up!

The first technician was polite and answered our questions. When we began having problems with the A/C not working a few weeks later, we were concerned that something the technician did caused a problem. The second service technician, who came out the second and third times, stated that there was no way that the problem was caused by the inspection. The leak was discovered just above and connected to the port that was used to measure and fill the refrigerant. The second technician stated that we must have had a leak for a very long time, due to the marks on the cap. This did not make sense to us given the timing of the onset of the problem. After repairing the caps on the rotor lock, the second technician told us that the leak "pegged out" his leak detection equipment, and was the largest leak he'd ever seen. The technician cut the foam off of pipes both inside and outside our home, and left it dangling instead of taping it back up when he was finished. We were charged $370 for this visit, which lasted less than 1 hour. After discussing the situation for several days, my husband contacted Summers with our concerns that the leak had occurred so soon after the system was inspected and said to be operating normally. My husband asked how the leak could have been present for a long time and yet be 1/2 pound low, and then 2 pounds low within a few weeks. My husband pointed out that the system had been topped off, not completely evacuated and recharged, as per their price quote. The person my husband spoke to said that this is what they charge all their customers. At this point, a month later, the repair seems to be holding. We will not be requesting the inspection of our furnace, plumbing or water heater, although these are included in the service contract we purchased. We do not trust Summers to work on our home and would not recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Summers service technicians came to our home three times. Our heating and air conditioning system is 10 years old and we decided to have it checked. We were not having any problems with the A/C. On the first visit, they performed an annual air conditioning inspection per a coupon in the mail for $49.00. We were told that one half pound of refrigerant was added to our A/C unit on this visit, and that the unit was working properly. We declined to purchase a $159.00 service contract for our heating, A/C and plumbing at that time. Several weeks later we called the company and they returned because our A/C had stopped working. The technician said that the refrigerant was two pounds low, that there was a leak in the system, and that it would require another service visit to repair. At this time, we purchased the service contract, which lowered the service call price from $89 to $49 and provided a 20% discount on parts and labor. We were told that it could take up to 4 hours to find the leak, and the technician offered to put more refrigerant in the system since it would be several days before they came back. The cost of this was $185 and we declined. The following Monday the technician returned and found a leak in the rotor lock caps, where refrigerant is measured and added. This took approximately 20 minutes and we were charged $185 for the diagnostic. We were given an option of replacing the rotor lock for $876 and replacing and recharging the drier for $876 or repairing it with Teflon tape and pipe dope. The repair would not have any warranty. We chose the repair and were charged $185 to repair and recharge the system. We were not charged the cost of the Teflon tape and pipe dope or its application. This took approximately 20 minutes.

Tech. inspected my Lennox XC15 A/C, installed May 2010. He demonstrated with a volt meter that the condenser fan capacitor needed to be replaced. After replacement, condenser fan also no longer worked properly. Tech. determined this also needed to be replaced which I agreed to have done. Total bill was $529, but the tech. reminded me that the parts may be under 10-year warrantee. After the tech.'s departure, I checked my records and found the warrantee as well as previous years' maintenance reports and began contemplating what to do next. The next day, a Sunday no less, the tech. sent me a text with further suggestions as to how to get the parts refunded under the warrantee. I responded with data from the previous year's report so he could investigate further the reasons for the fan's failure. I still assumed I would have to call Lennox and do all the paper-work myself. But on Monday, the tech. called to ask me to bring the old fan (which he had left with me) to the Summer's manager so I could get my warrantee refund that same day. I did so and the manager refunded me $353, the cost of the fan, minus the labor. I was very impressed with the professionalism of both the tech. and the manager and the extra efforts both took to make sure this warrantee situation was resolved quickly and relatively painlessly. This convinced me to continue to use Summers for my cooling and heating needs.
