AAA Mudjackers Inc

Our neighborhood association hired Mudjackers to work on the sidewalk around our neighborhood pool in May. Mudjackers agreed to provide a discount to any homeowners if they needed work done since they were going to be there which was a nice incentive. My driveway and pathway to the front porch had settled quite a bit since the house was built and I knew it was something I wanted to address and this sounded like a great opportunity. A representative came by and did a walk through and provided an estimate for the work. I thought $500 was a fair price so I asked them to work on it. We were notified the day before they were coming and just as advertised, the driveway and pathway were leveled when we got home from work that night. Initially, my impression was they did a great job. They were efficient, prompt and cleaned up the work area with no problems. I was completely satisfied with the work. However, a couple of weeks after the work was completed, I came home and the slab they leveled was cracked all the way through. I contacted Mudjackers who sent the gentlemen who worked on it on June 21th. He was baffled as to how this could have happened and wasn't sure what could be done to make this right. He ran through a couple of different options but ultimately told me he was going to have the owner come out and look at it and contact me. I let him know I would be out of town the following week and would appreciate it if the owner would contact me the next Monday (7/1). When the first week of July came and went and I hadn't heard from anyone, I called. When I did, a man answered bluntly "Hello". After a brief silence, I asked if this was Mudjackers. The person who answered said, "yes". I introduced myself and provided a summary of what had happened up until this point. The person who answered the phone turned out to be the manager. It seemed as though he was not familiar with my situation, but clearly he was. When I explained the gentlemen who came out and looked at it informed me that he (the owner) would be in touch with me, he acted surprised. Then immediately became defensive and talking over me making comments such as "I don't know why concrete cracks", "Are you assuming this was related to our work because it didn't happen at the time when they were working on it???" and "I'm just not sure what you expect". His final offer was to return to my house and level the...again...where it was sinking at the site of the crack. He ended the conversation as though he was reading off a cue card, "I'm sorry, this was supposed to be an enjoyable experience and it was not. We will do what it takes to make you happy". It was like watching a child forced to apologize for something they were clearly not sorry for. So, for future reference, let's run though some general customer expectations: 1. Learn/exhibit some basic customer service skills: when you answer the phone, identify yourself and ask how you can help 2. treat your customers with respect 3. when you tell a customer you are going to contact them...contact them 4. you may not know how to explain what went wrong, but don't get defensive. It looks poorly on your business 5. as the owner, you have the power to FIX IT, so make it right ***update 9/24/13 I called twice since the above encounter to follow up and and spoke with the receptionist who insures that the owner would contact me. Unfortrunately, he has not. I am not sure what happened in this case either, but clearly the owner of this company does not value me as a customer enough to make it right and stand behind his service. This was a more than disappointing encounter, especially since it was the owner. I would NOT recommend them for this reason alone, no matter the quality of work.

The estimate was performed the day after I called and service was scheduled very quickly. I explained my situation and they were able to fit my project in between other jobs to meet my timeline. I had called another mudjacker in the area and they weren't even able to provide an estimate for 3 weeks! The timeliness of service was exceptional and very appreciated. All employees were very polite, quick to respond to requests, and courteous. The owner, David, called after the job was complete to make sure that I was happy with their work. I am very pleased and would use them again.

Owner David McDonald was very gracious and promptly responded to our call. His touch-up work was quickly and professionally done. We are very pleased with the results.

First they had to reschedule the appointment. They just showed up the next day instead of calling me. They raised it too high and now there is a 2-3in raise, and a hump in the middle of the garage. It looks awful. He tried cover with cement and it looks terrible. There is a dip you can trip over if you aren't careful. There is a section to the right that they just left without fixing it. I was supposed to get a new garage door and now I can't due to their services. Now I need to find someone to jack hammer out the work that they did. I wouldn't reccomend them to anyone.

They were recommended to me, so I called them. They were a couple of hours away and I had e-mailed them pictures of my front step, immediately called me back, gave me an estimate, and knew right away what was the cause of the step dropping. It was because of a water spout. They came out and the step looks very good.

Very knowledgeable guy, answered my MANY many questions with no problem. Surprisingly, did NOT recommend mudjacking for my particular situation, but DID recommend a cement specialist that would be more appropriate. Also was able to confirm that the section of sidewalk that has a 4-5 inch height gap is actually on my neighbor's property, not mine.

Mudjackers were responsive and timely. Good value given other estimates I'd received.

David called and came over within 25 minutes of talking to the office. From 9:30 to noon, my sidewalk was fixed! It was extremely efficient and prompt! The price was very reasonable. I was even given a one year guarentee that the sidewalk wouldn't heave or move again.

I was pleased with the service of Mudjackers from the very beginning. The appointment response was very prompt and they were able to come out the very next day to review the job and provide an estimate. I thought the price was reasonable. They were very responsive to my needs and were easily able to accommodate me when I needed to change the date for the job. When they arrived they had a great crew. They arrived exactly on the time I was given. They were very professional and went right to work and it was obvious by how they went about the job that they were skilled and knew what they were doing. I was curious to know what they were doing, and they were pleasant to inform me the purpose of each step as they went along. They were careful to ask me if I was satisfied with the result before they finished up. They were very neat and cleaned everything before they left.

I called their office on Thursday. Dave came out on Monday gave me the estimate, and described exactly what they could do. At that time he said that they would probably be back to do the work the following week. However, Mark and Chet came that week on Friday afternoon. It all went very quickly with the total time of about 2 hours work. The process is amazingly simple and very efficient especially when compared with other methods. It looked pretty messy as the work progressed, but they cleaned up so well at the end I could barely tell they were ever there except my sidewalk was now level. Mark and Chet worked well together and did an excellent job. Thank you!

Dave came out a day or two after I requested the quote. He explained everything that they would do. I told him I would think about it as I was getting other qutoes. Dave's quote came in about the same as the others. He called me early one morning stating he would be in the area and asked if he could come work at my house. I gave the go ahead. When I came home, the steps are lifted and the hole was sealed and aggregate placed to match the rest of the stairs. Dave did mistakenly mark the bill a little higher than quoted. When I called, he quickly recognized his error. We also talked a little bit more about the edges being filled in to prevent vermin.. Dave came back out and filled in the gaps on the edges to the ground for me a few days later. I am very appreciative for this. Once this was completed, I sent in a check. I gave a B for professionalism due to the error on the bill and reminder phone call from Rhonda to pay the bill the day that I sent the check 2 days after the final service was completed.

There was some confusion since they were supposed to come on a day we not to going to be there. When we arrived home that day, it was obvious that they didn't show up. Rhonda called me a day or so later explaining that the job before ours was longer than expected and the man doing the work couldn't make it. So they ended up coming a different day and did a good job.

See above. After they did that work, my husband asked if they could straighten an area where the concrete had broken off. They cut it straight and it looks much better. We really appreciated the work they did.

Dave came out the day after I called to give me an estimate on a patio that had settled. It rained for the next couple of days, but as soon as things dried out they got to work. They did a great job.

The crew accomplished exactly what they had promised in an amazingly short amount of time. The floor was raised back up to the lip of the baseboard, and the gaps in the concrete surface which had been caused by the settling and erosion from water seepage were greatly reduced in size. Dave and crew did a great job of explaining the process both before and during the job. I would highly recommend this group.

Upon our calling them, AAA Mudjackers came right out, evaluated the jobs, and estimated they would be available to do the job within a week to ten days. Instead, they did it the next day. They were courteous and professional. The appearance of our property is much improved!

I was happy with the work My porch and drive way apron had sucken about an inch because of improper soil compaction when the house was built. I called a few places and Mudjackers was available to come do an estimate the next day. He wrote up the estimate after asking a few questions about where the problem areas were. I asked how this was going to be done and he explained about drilling holes in specifict locations and injecting water with sand in suspension. The water would drains away quickly leaving the sand under the slab. I said ok and asked him to put me on their schedule. He said it would be a few weeks. I got a call the nextweek and they had had a cancelation so they could fit me in. I was not able to be there when they did the work but they cleaned up well. I did have to caulk/seal the cracks so water did not void the waranty but this saved me money from having them do it at an additional charge. Again I am happy with the results

Arrived on time, started work immediately and did great job of leveling two driveway slabs and one sidewalk slab. Cleaned up the work area. Reasonably priced and gave a written warranty. Would definitely use again.

Dave came out at 9am prompt got right to work and was finished in 2 hours time. He explained everything he had done. Very pleased.

The decision had two choices: tear up and replace the existing concrete slab, or level it. The existing concrete was in perfect shape, putting in new concrete meant days of jackhammers, pouring the new slab and waiting to use it...and a huge price. My concerns regarding mudjacking were cosmetic. I did not want to see the little areas where they had drilled through the concrete and pump in the substance they fill with. I was also concerned with how long it would last. I went with mudjacking because of the price, and new concrete may not have blended in with the adjacent concrete, but primarily the price. Dave came with his crew , were very pleasant, cleaned up after themselves and did the job to my satisfaction. The area is tricky because it is within 5 feet from our pool. I was very surprised that the small drill holes did not show much at all. There are only two holes for each 9 foot square slab. Later that day we were able to put the furniture back on the slabs. Now that patio furniture has been placed on the area, the filled-in holes are not noticeable at all. I had Dave come back to caulk the edges. I knew the edges needed to be sealed to prevent the problem from coming back again. He did a very professional looking job and guarantees the caulk. I am SO glad that I went this route rather than replacing the entire two slabs! They also were very honest about another area that needs some attention, telling me that mudjacking would not be a good idea, and gave me some ideas on how to solve the problem. I appreciate the honesty.

Overall, the project went well. I had originally scheduled an appointment, but needed to cancel. David followed up with me to get the job rescheduled. I had two areas of concrete slab that were uneven evaluated for reducing a trip hazard. I also had a front porch step that had pulled away from the main slab. David was able to reduce the trip hazard with his work. The front porch was improved by filling the gap and patching with matching stones. Based on the age of the front porch, the repair is only known to us, as anyone else using the step would not think otherwise. I feel David used a good blending of materials to patch the gap. Short of replacing all of our concrete and front porch, the improvements that were done were more economical and less of a hassle. Unless planning on replacing concrete, I would recommend Mudjacking to make needed improvements.

Affable, punctual, solid work. Amazing - like a new decking!

I thought their bid was a little high. Their responsiveness was good and they were right on time. I got a better deal elsewhere. I would not use them again.
