Glenn was able to work the quoting process via phone and email as I was traveling - which was a huge help. His price was right in line with other bids, but his professionalism and knowledge of what needed to be done to save/replace my brick was bar none. Work was started very quickly, and was continous for about 2.5 weeks. His son and other employees were very nice and very good at their trade. The brick on the chimneys, walks and walls looks brand new, and not like a peice meal job. Very satisfied with this company and plan to use again for a large patio rebuild in the spring.
Description of Work: 2 chimney repairs, 2 decorative walls, repair front walk and side walk - details from quote: Driveway chimney * Remove existing cap and replace with new flat concrete cap * Remove and replace approx.. 30 brick Opposite chimney * Remove existing cap and replace with new flat concrete cap * Remove and replace approx. 40 brick plus top 3 courses * Repair shoulders (2) as needed Wing Walls (2) * Remove and replace brick as needed * Clean and seal Front Porch * Grind to remove all deteriorated mortar joints and replace with new mortar * Rebuild front step * Clean and seal entire area Garage side walk* Clean and seal

Glenn and his crew did and excellent job replacing countless bricks on my 1973 used brick house. He was able to find near perfect matches to the brick and tinted the mortar so they repairs don't stand out. Glenn then applied a high quality water repellent to the house. They did a good job keeping the work area clean and did a great job cleaning up when they where done.
Description of Work: Replaced 100+ spalled bricks. Tuck pointed house. Rebuilt top of chimney / replaced the crown. Sealed the house once complete.

Glen came out himself to do the estimate. He assessed the problem and gave what we thought was a very reasonable estimate. He started work in a short time after we gave him the job, and he did most of the work himself except for a couple of occasions when he was lifting the house and doing the most complicated sill plate and band board replacement. He uncovered the systematic coverup of the prior owner, and showed us the additional damage, which was worse than anticipated. To do the rest of the repairs he had to add temporary support posts and beam to be sure there wouldn't be damage from the sagging floor. He discussed options with me, and we decided that the repairs had to be done such that the repair would be a potential positive when selling the house in the future, not a cause for a decrease in perceived value. So, he gave us an additional estimate to cover the expansion of the repairs needed. He was very friendly and explained what was going on and answered all of our questions. The repairs were extensive and he did a herculean task in about 2 calender weeks total time. The external repairs to prevent future problems entailed removing some of the masonry steps and installing proper flashing and water sealing. We are very pleased with the quality of the work, his friendliness, the professionalism of his work attitude, and the cleanliness of the work area when he was done. We intend to have him come back to replace the subflooring that was also damaged and apply mold-inactivating enzyme to exposed areas, now that the dangerous structural problem and leaks have been fixed.
Description of Work: Glen did many repairs to alleviate the leaks that caused water to get into the basement. This included cutting out sections of rotted out joists; replacement/repair of rhe band board and sill plate; installation of reinforcement joists; installation of proper flashing and waterproof sealing under entry way behind the masonry steps; sand grouting of bricks for steps in the repair area. During the course of discovering the real root of the problem, he removed a large pile of insulation, cement and false sill boards put in by a prior owner to hide the problem (and which was also not uncovered by the house inspector at the time we bought the house). There is still some subfloor damage below the entry way tiles, which we will have repaired next.

Overall it went well and we were pleased with the work. Glen set up times to come out and stuck to schedule as much as possible - things come up for down - like rains so it helps to be flexible. I would recommended him highly.
Description of Work: Mr Mills repaired my front porch steps - which are clay tile. The tiles had to be special ordered because of non-standard size. Also areas of my river rock wall needed tuck pointing.

Mr. Mills was wonderful. He came to the house in a timely manner, and gave me an estimate on the spot. When I asked him if he could help us with our sunken concrete steps, he said no problem. He came up with a terrific solution that turned out better than I could have imagined. Glenn and his crew did a top notch job and went above and beyond, tuck-pointing our flower bed without me even asking! And when they cleaned up I am embarrassed to say he left it much cleaner than he found it. Glenn did a great job, I have already recommended him to my co-workers and would definitely use him again in the future.

We live in a 100+ year old home with a stone foundation. There were areas that needed to be tuck pointed. I contacted several people to provide an estimate. Glenn came out on a Saturday to provide an estimated. Very friendly and upfront about what work needed to be done. The quote from Glenn was the middle of all the bids (along with the Angie's discount), but Glenn was also going to wash and seal the entire foundation, which was not in the work described by the others. Despite all of the rain, Glenn found a few days when the work could be done. The work was completed with quality. Very happy with the results. I would recommend Glenn for masonary or foundation work.

Thanks to Glenn and crew in exceeding our expectations and turning our "eye sore" brick house into a beautifully restored home. We initially called Glenn to get an estimate on the tuck pointing prior to painting our three story brick home. Glenn gave us an option we had no idea was available with regards to restoring the brick in order to not paint the house. The crew arrived everyday rain or shine to complete the job on time. Glenn did a final walk through to ensure we were happy prior to finalizing the job. In my option Glenn and his crew did a stellar job that far exceed my wildest imagination!

We called Glenn on a Friday afternoon at about 3:30 pm, with a very large problem about the brickwork on the back of the house. We just that day finished up having our foundation repaired and because of the damage previous to that the brickwork and the blocks behind it were in rough shape. It was a very good sized hole. We had called two other masons to come out and look at the work but Glenn was able to come over right then because he had a spare moment and said he would take a look to see what could be done. Up until Glenn had come over we were pretty distraught about the problems we were seeing with all that brickwork broken and the huge hole we had. He showed up not really more than 20 minutes later, and was extremely personable and concerned with the problems we had. He showed true care with us when he began to go over what needed to be done to get the hole fixed and make the house whole again. He didn't try to up sell or add extras to inflate his cost, he told us why something had to be fixed and how it would be done. He told us, he goes into his job wanting to fix a house like it was his own, so it looked good and was solid work. He suggested to us to make sure we cover up what we could till he got out to start work on the following Monday for our safety. While inspecting the work he told me also the window wells we had should have some cover to protect the recent foundation repair because of the loss of glass that we had. I mentioned in passing about needing to find someone who could do the glass block in the basement windows and the security door and he said he would take a look at that as well if we wanted him to. He did and he came back with reasonable quotes for that as well as the masonry work we needed done. They were lower than expected, and he explained it would be him and not farmed out who would be doing the work, the whole time he also made us feel assured we would be ok and that even if we didn't go with him it all could be done and fixed. I knew pretty much right away he was the one we wanted to go with, he told us he would email us a formal bid later that night. He was spot on with the the estimate he gave us for the work and also the add on of a window sill that had to be replaced under a window on the back wall from the cracking it had all over it. It was a cosmetic as he said, but he knew it would look better in the end and we agreed. We really did luck out with him, because the following Monday he came out and started working. Glenn went fast, but he did not rush anything with his work, as I would come out during the day to see how things were going he would tell me what was happening and why he was doing something. He didn't hide behind technical talk, he spoke plainly and showed us the why's, what's and how's. I have to admit, I even went to the local home improvement store to see what the door and stuff would cost to get done by them to see if it was about the same, and Glenn was still lower. He didn't cut any corners with us, and we still came out ahead in our view. During the rest of the week we just loved the progress we saw and the work being done, he fixed all the problems we had. Our family now considers him our 'go to' guy for home repair.
Description of Work: Mr. Mills replaced the masonry that had fallen down or off from foundation problems and repair, he also installed glass block windows in the basement window wells and put in a new security door for the basement entry.

Glenn arrived on time (actually early) for the initial quote. He listened to everything needed and then provided a very nice quote through email detailing all the work that was to be performed. This was much better and more detailed than the scribbles I got from other contractors. We weren't certain of how much we could afford so he broke the quote up into smaller jobs and allowed us to pick and choose from the different options. Upon accepting the quote, he clearly communicated the date his team could start (he had a scheduled vacation which delayed the start of the job by a few weeks). The start date was delayed by a day due to weather, but we received an email and a call letting us know ahead of time. He arrived early to the job everyday by at least 10 minutes (which I appreciate). Upon leaving each day, he cleaned up the work area very well. As well, he cleaned up my little boiler room from all the debris that fell down the chimney (was not expected but was a pleasant surprise). The quality of the work is great. The new dry stacked stone wall looks fantastic and actually makes the older wall that is leaning a little look bad. We are considering having him restack that wall later on to make it match. The front steps looks good. He had to break down the front of one portion and re-pour the steps. It matches the other side well. While working on the steps, he had to acid wash them. He had some extra cleaner left over so he washed the entire front walkway leading to the house. It looks great and again was not expected. He was very professional and I felt comfortable having working around my house. The only things I would change is the old stone wall that he was not hired to work on had to be partially taken down to work on the front steps. The wall was restacked but doesn't look as good as it did. This is minor and I can easily restack this section but would have preferred not to have to. As well, some of the resurfacer was splashed onto the iron railing. I will have to clean that up. Overall, I was very happy with is quality of work, very happy with his professionalism, very happy with the way he left the job site and very happy with his punctuality. I would absolutely use him again and I would recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: We had them rebuild a dry stack stone wall, repair and skim coat our crumbling front steps, add a chimney cap to our chimney and seal up a couple of holes in our chimney down in the boiler room. As well, he dug out and removed a significant amount of dirt before building the dry stacked stone wall.

Owner, Glenn, came over to discuss project, submitted a formal quote and with his crew did an outstanding job. They were also a very clean cut crew, and always left the area clean after they would finish a days work. I was impressed with their professionalism. We elected to go with another company. His bid was within reason, we just liked the reviews for another company on Angie's List better. I looked up 11 different vendors on Angie's List and called every single one of them to do the project. Five or six of them came out to our home. He just didn't have the same chemistry as the company we ended up using. He was a very nice man, very polite and very professional.
