I think Pools of Fun is good for mechnical issues with the pool, but would recommend other providers for chemical testing/service.

Everything is holding up great. They are very professional, they provided a lot of insight into the process, and they had great follow-up once they were done. They did a quality job with all of the work. The workers that came out were great.

They have always been friendly and flexible. My family's pool is out of the Indianapolis area and they are sure to schedule their area appointments when they will have multiple appointments in our area. They're flexible in bringing services to our area to test our water, and will always test the water if brought into their store. They're personable and remember us when we come back for continued service.

Our pool was installed in 2004. We had several problems, they put in deck drain but failed to put the pipes under the cement that actually drain the water away from the house and pool, so all of the water from the cement surrounding our pool was draining into our homes foundation, causing our basement to flood through the basement windows. They had to tear out a good part of the cement to correctly install the deck drain. Then the first year we closed we got another surprise. It cost us almost $900 to close the pool because there salesman had suggested placing the heater and pump at one side of our house and the pool on the other and when they close they fill the pipes with antifreeze instead of blowing out the water and adding some antifreeze like most companies do. You must use their service to close your pool or your warranty is voided - so they really had us stuck. The cost of closing was even more frustrating because we'd told the salesman that since we were first time pool owners we needed to rely somewhat on his experience to make our pool as economical and easy to maintain as possible. Instead of being honest and suggesting a closer placement of the equipment it seems he did everything possible to make our pool more expensive for us. The following summer our liner turned black (despite taking our water to their store and buying expensive chemicals every week). They came out in July and told us that the paramount jets on the bottom of the pool had not been secured and were blowing water under the liner - causing black mold. They agreed that is was an installation issue and came out in September to clean the liner and fix the jets. By then the liner was very black and the mold had spread. They lifted the liner and used muriatic acid and chlorine to try to clean the stains - this service bleached the liner and the mold returned within 48 hrs. After a lot of arm twisting they finally agreed to replace the liner, but replaced it with a lower quality liner than we'd installed the previous year. They did a very poor job of installing the liner by June of the next year is was badly wrinkled and coming untucked. Remember - this entire time we had also continued to have our water tested at their store and to buy their chemicals as required by our warranty. By July we had black mold again (but not a much). At this point they refused to address the problem any further and we paid them $800 to reset the liner and treat the mold again. 2 days after the reset the liner came untucked and had wrinkles again. The refused the reset it but came out and retucked it. Our pool was supposed to enhance our lifestyle and was instead a nightmare. In 2008 we switched the Angie's Pool and Spa and this spring we were finally able to have them replace the liner. They did a great job, it was perfectly smooth the day the installed it and stayed that way all summer. After years of struggling with an assortment of pool problems things finally seem to be straightened out. I would not recommend Pools of Fun under any circumstances.

Response from Pools of Fun
Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to Pools of Fun. We know and understand the value of each customer and will always do anything we can within reason to satisfy a long time and loyal customer. It is unfortunate that we did not have that opportunity to do so with the member. We regret that the member has parted ways with Pools of Fun and would welcome any future opportunity to renew that relationship.

We've used Pools of Fun to open and close our pool for two years. We also shop at the 116th street/Giest location for our pool needs throughout the season. The previous years, we've had no problems...they turned on all the equipment, inlcuding the heater, and when they leave, we're up and running. When we discovered the heater was not working, we called for an explanation. We were told that they have changed thier policy and that they turn the heater on, but don't leave it running due to gas prices. We were not aware of this policy change. We spent several hours trying to get the heater to work, without success. We called back and requested a technican come back out as we have no way to confirm they turned it on to begin with. After repeated attempts, we were told they would not send a tech out free of charge and that it was our responsibility to make sure thier tech's were actually performing all the necessary tasks when opening and closing the pool. Being in a sales/customer service environment, this is a horrible business practice to put the ownness on the customer and not on your own employees to perform the tasks that consumers are paying for. We will be going elsewhere for our pool needs and if you're not avaialable to "babysit" the techs when they work on your pool, I suggest you do the same. Very disappointing as we've been a loyal customer and spend thousands of dollars a year with Pools of Fun.

It went fairly well. They came out first thing in the morning to see what the job entailed. After looking at it they decided to let water pump out from under the liner since we had received a few inches of rain unfortunately the 2 days prior to the repair. The rusted wall spots were primarily on one side of the pool but they checked all four walls and sanded and put rustoleum on a few other spots as well. They helped with the water trucks filling up the pool as well. They also repaired a hole in the liner and replaced the glider on my automatic cover at no charge. I have to say that I have not had the best experiences with Pools of Fun, but they seem to be turning around when it comes to service. This was the best experience I have had with them in years. Darren was very professional and also helpful.

Brady Wilson came out that day to address the issue. He placed an aerator to try to put the oxygen back in the pond. They said they would do whatever needed to make it right. In the meantime, I retained an attorney, which I have since released because he wanted to involve our neighbors. After I contacted them letting them know it was in our best interest in handling this as business owners. Mr. Bruce Holmes and I talked on or about November 13th and tried to work this out with attorney's involved. I received a letter a week letter saying they would replace the fish with bluegill, catfish and carp, not Coy. Pools of Fun never retained a permit in the beginning to drain the pool. We are just asking them to make it right. We had a whole summer without using the pool due to the smell coming from the pond. To date, they have not resolved this. I called and spoke with Brady Wilson advising he did not place any type of settlement in the letter as requested. I also advised him I had made a third party claim with our insurance company. He told me I could forget about it that they were done.
Description of Work: In July, Pools of Fun drained our neighbors pool causing the water to run into the city's sewer, 48,000 gallons worth. This caused the oxygen to die in the pond from the chemical in the pool. This resulted in killing most of Coy that was in the pond.

Their professionalism wasn't always good they didn't always call ahead of time. The one time that they did call ahead of time, I let them know when I wouldn't be home and it seemed as though they made an effort to come when I wasn't home. They did try to come one time when I was home and instead of trying to get a hold of me they took the liberty of letting themselves into our pool area. When I confronted them, they got defensive and wanted to leave and when I expressed to them I expected to be treated as a better customer they chose to stay and apologized later.

The warranty person came out and showed up 1/2 hour early while I was at work. When I arrived home, he was still there. He put his hand in the liner hole and that is the extent of it. He took a few pictures though I don't know of what since the liner hole is about 16-24 inches under water. He said he felt the liner and wall behind it and it was surface rust. When asked how this would happen, he tried to say that a "pin" sized hole in the liner from "something" could have started the hole and rusting, but the walls were not corroding and it wasn't a warranty issue. We don't typically have sharp objects in our pool, and when the pool skimmer is used, the net is on it, so there is not any way this is the case. After he left, I decided to put on goggles and look very closely myself. Upon very close underwater examination, the hole in the liner is corrosion in TWO areas, not just one, which shoots their "pinhole" theory. And the steel is etched and corroded in both spots, NOT surface rust. I called and left the warranty person a message stating that fact July 3rd; I have yet to hear back from them. I drained the pool down below the rusted areas so that Brady could get a better look. After much discussion and a closer look Brady assured us that the issue would be taken care of. He is planning on contacting the steel wall company, as well as detailing the agreement in a letter to us.
Description of Work: I have a regular pool service I use; however, I noticed a rusted portion of my liner in the deep end of my pool. When I called my normal guy, he felt and looked at it and said my steel wall was rusting through. This was obviously what caused the corroded 4 inch hole in my liner. I called Pools of Fun since the steel walls are lifetime guaranteed. They made an appointment to come out after about a week of phone tag. Met and looked at areas more closely.

The pool looks terrific and we are thrilled with the result. The pool came in on budget and way ahead of schedule. In March we were promised to be swimming by Memorial Day, but we were already swimming in April! Allen Duros was the Sales Person and Design Consultant and Mike Arnett was the Project Manager. Allen was very professional and very competent with steering us to an appropriate design that met our needs. We appreciated that he promised no more than could be delivered and we couldn t be happier with the result that exceeded our expectations. Mike was excellent at keeping us informed throughout the process. He was always accessible and constantly was checking in to insure our total understanding and satisfaction. The level of service was unexpected and greatly appreciated. Rarely am I so thrilled with a product or service. We highly recommend Pools Of Fun to anyone that asks.

Our sales representative, Rick Kendall was outstanding and patient with us through the design phase and coordinated construction with another company who installed the retaining walls. Rick was very fair to deal with and very personable and did not try and sell us anything more than what was necessary and what made sense for our budget and our vision. Our project manager, Mike Arnett took over from Rick and effectively managed the excavation of the area (including the tree stumps) as well as the installation of the pool while having his crew navigate our challenging landscape. The construction process was completed in about 2 weeks and we were able to begin enjoying our pool before April ended. Mike has been great to work with and has responded to questions following installation and has come out to address any concerns/questions on site. Both Mike and Linda at the Carmel store have been helpful in guiding us through caring for the pool on a daily basis. We are novices to caring for a pool and the Pools of Fun team has walked us through pool ownership step by step including taking care of our pool for us on a recent vacation. Even the removal and replacement of the fence was handled professionally and with care.
Description of Work: Installed a 16x32 in ground liner pool along with 900 square feet of concrete, a slide, two fountains and an automatic pool cover. Our installation required work above and beyond since our yard had a pretty steep grade that needed to be excavated and required retaining walls to accommodate the pool (retaining walls installed by another service provider). Access was limited to our back yard requiring the removal of approximately 20 trees and a portion of our fence as well as the need to pump all concrete to the back yard.

My experience with Pools of Fun could not have been better! They were professional, thorough and a joy to work with. They are in the pool building business, and certainly know what they are doing. Everyone knew there job, and performed it well! I never saw anyone standing around wondering what to do next. Even the guy sweeping the dirt off of the street as each truck drove off with my dirt, did an excellent job! I did a lot of research and got quotes from several other pool builders before deciding to use Pools of Fun. After checking references, I had some concerns about using them, and they were very responsive to my concerns and went over and beyond to make sure I was happy. I am happy with my decision to use the most experienced pool builder in the area!
Description of Work: Installed vinyl 18x28 in-ground diving swimming pool, with automatic cover, in-floor cleaning system, and heater. They did not lay the concrete. I hired my own concrete company (which saved me money) to do the pool deck and patio.

3 important areas SALE: Rick Kendall was excellent. Placement complicated by a septic system, but plan to utilize our space well was made. CONSTRUCTION: Mike oversaw the efficient construction of pool but I wondered whether they rushed too much due to problems noted. Adjusted pool when septic distribution box was hit; ensured that our septic system was not damaged and functioning properly. SERVICE AFTER CONSTRUCTION: Pools of Fun (POF) significantly has failed here. Significant time was not devoted to adequately educating on pool maintenance. Within three weeks of pool completion, a large crack developed in our pool deck. Despite Mike stating that he would be willing to fix this, trying to get this done was unsuccessful. In fact, the CEO, Bruce Holmes, stated that it was not warrantable and this is the way the construction industry is: "built by human hands". We also questioned whether what we thought were wrinkles in the liner were normal. POF says they are normal.
Description of Work: Pools of Fun installed a 20 x 40 foot inground pool with 1100 sq. ft. pool deck in our backyard. This pool is a vinyl lined pool, is 8 foot deep, but non-diving.

Response from Pools of Fun
In response to the member's complaint, it appears from the sale through construction went OK. It was after the construction that he has issues. He stated "significant time was not devoted to adequately educating on pool maintenance." All Pools of Fun Customers are given a Pool Orientation with the Project Manager that managed their respective pool along with a Pool Care Manual. The member's Pool Orientation took place on September 20, 2007. If he would like a refresher this spring we would be glad to arrange this or he could refer to his Pool Care Manual for assistance. In regards to the crack in the concrete, we immediately offered to tear out that section of concrete and re-pour for the sake of good customer service; however, the homeowner was adamant that we must guarantee that it would match the existing concrete, and that is something we cannot do. Pools of Fun abides by standards set forth by The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis and will promptly repair and or replace any concrete that exceeds these standards within the warranty period. Pools of Fun has, at his request, inspected the liner and found no wrinkles in the liner. The liner will conform to the textured finish of the concrete under the liner and this is normal. Pools of Fun will be glad to work with him regarding any and all issues but must respect warranty standards in place for all of our customers.

Rick Kendall was the sales rep. From the start he was very knowledgeable and creative with our design. He spent all the time needed to come up with the pool we were looking for. The hand-off to Mike Arnett, the project manager was as smooth as we could ask for. Mike was on top of the project from the first day to the last and was very responsive to questions. The pool went in without a hitch thanks to Mike. Though not the 'cheapest' pool company we got our money's worth. I would highly recommend them.

They were asked to leave half of the dirt from the building process yet they removed all of the dirt. They had to pay another firm to bring dirt back in and are using this as an excuse not to fulfill their contract. Since not enough dirt was brought back in we had to pay someone else to finish the job. They included a gas line in their contract but after realizing it was more expensive than planned they are deducting this amount from the damages they caused. They threatened not to complete or warrant our pool unless we paid an additional $400.00 for their losses. We were supposed to get a $70 store credit after the pool was completed (never received) and they never told us about a $75 rebate we could have received on our pool cover. Every time we have spoken to them we get; "we paid for your gas line (agreed to in our contract) and dirt (that they took away when shouldn't have) and gave you a $1600 value free" thus they refuse to repair any of their damages.
Description of Work: They installed an in-ground pool for us. The concrete around the pool started cracking and crumbling within the first 2 months and it is much worse after 7 months. Pools of Fun refuses to even come look at it. The pool liner is coming out of the retainer wall. There is a large crevice in the pool floor. They did not plan for any drainage around the pool. When they poured our concrete they did not insert any drainage between the new concrete and existing concrete. Now all of the rain water from around the pool flows up to our home.. A landscaped mound was removed after specific instructions not to during the building process.

Response from Pools of Fun
Pools of Fun's contract is complete. Previously, member called in law enforcement and put our employee through harassment; therefore, Pools of Fun will not take further action and place any employee on the Petri property. Pools of Fun is a referral based company committed to the satisfaction of all their customers and finds the terms on which this job ended unfortunate. John Tumey is top-notch an has handled this job as professional as possible given the circumstances. No threats were made to the homeowner and repeated claims otherwise are unjust. In reference to a $75 rebate for pool cover, Pools of Fun is not aware of any such rebate and has confirmed through the cover's manufacturer, APC, Inc., that they neither authorized nor issue any such rebate as well. Landscaping was torn out at his specific request unbeknownst to her. All financial matters are being resolved through a litigation process. Tim Colon - Director of Operations

We had pools of fun come out to give us a quote as well as 2 other pool companies. We were impressed with their presentation. A week later they came back out with the drawing of our backyard. It was exactly what we had envisioned. We signed the contract that night. They started on our pool about three weeks later. It took 12 days to complete our pool. We were amazed! We did not have one complaint during the project. Any questions or concerns we had were handled immediately and professionally. Pools of Fun was a pleasure to work with!
