Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling - Noblesville

Summers first came out in June to do an AC inspection Tune-up. After completing the Tune-up the tech came in the house and let me know that I probably had a little leak and the AC was down a little on freon. I should be sure to keep an eye out for any problems. I was informed they had a special and if I paid an additional amount up front they would schedule and do the furnace inspection / tune-up for a reduced cost. Inspection scheduled for 22 Aug and tech did show up and immediately pulled out the heat ex-changer and showed me it had a couple small cracks and that it needed to be fixed / replaced. I felt he knew what he was going to find as the furnace was 12 years old and put in the CP Morgan house when it was built. It was decided to have Summers back to give us a quote for both a Furnace and AC Unit. He returned the next day with no literature to provide us as to what equipment was being quoted. Quote had a couple of items listed (G61 Furnace - XP 13 AC) and then he read their motto on the back. I felt the quote given me was high. After receiving some quotes from other companies I decided to go with a Gas Furnace and Heat Pump instead of AC Unit. To be fair I called back the tech from Summers and asked his opinion on installing a Heat Pump in place of the AC unit and he let me know he had the same set-up at his home. I asked for him to give me an updated quote with the SL280V Furnace and XP13 Heat Pump. He said he would get it to me that evening. I never heard anything back and did not feel it was my responsibility to call and remind him I was waiting for another quote. I had a new Lennox Furnace (SL280V) and Heat Pump (XP14) installed by a small individually owned business last week for much less then the original quote by Summers.

The tech that first came out was very punctual, conducted a full inspection and recommended some alternative courses of action. After discussion, we elected to go with a full system replacement. This was scheduled for the same day. The installation team arrived on time and were efficient, courteous and tidy. As they were leaving, a chance remark led to some discussion about the original system and why we had elected to do a full system replacement. It turned out that the original technician had made an error in his assessment, mistakenly believing the entire system to be old, whereas in fact, only the furnace was original and the a/c unit outside was just three years old (we have only owned the home for 18 months and were not aware of this). We spoke to one of the managers at Summer's, explained the situation and, naturally, expressed concern that we had spent a lot of money on replacing the whole system when this had not been necessary. The manager was polite and understanding. After checking the facts, he admitted the mistake and said he would get back to us with a proposal. He called back promptly and offered a significant refund -- which we accepted. The check was received in just a few days. Everyone can make a mistake, but with a lot of contractors, getting any kind of recompense for issues such as this is a difficult, long drawn out process and often ends in dissatisfaction. We were immensely impressed by the way the situation was handled by Summer's. Not only are we very satisfied with the system that was installed, the professional way in which our complaint was handled singles out Summer's as an exceptional company to do business with.

I discovered the leaking water heater on Saturday. I had already scheduled an air conditioner tune-up with Summer's based on a flier through the mail. I tried to call them but their phones were down. I called a local plumber who came out on Sunday and by Monday it became obvious the job was more than he could handle. I again called Summer's late Monday this time I got through. They acknowledged and apologized for the phone issue which I appreciated but it really wasn't their fault. They came out within the hour and worked out the estimate and we scheduled the work for Tuesday. Early Tuesday morning they called and ask if they move the appointment up and of course I was happy to do so. Shortly two young men arrived and started working. In very short order they had the old water heater out and the new one in it's places. They purged the air from the water lines and also checked the gas lines as they had to replace a gas shut off valve. The young men were very polite and professional. I also appreciated the fact that each time they entered the house the placed protective covers over their shoes. I think the total job took less than two hours. I was impressed enough that I signed up for their annual maintenance program.

They kept me informed about what was going on. They were working with a unit that they weren't familiar with but they kind of taught themselves how to repair a device like that. They called the manufacturer with any questions and they ended up getting the job done. I would use them again.

We had a geothermal system. They put in a new system. It was blocking access to the sump pump, so they put it closer. AS they were leaving, they heard a noise. They found out the shower valve was leaking. If they had never moved the water heater, we would never have found out about that. They were able to shut off the access without turning off the water to the house. They will be installing the new system for us. They were efficient. They were very neat. They were out of here before they said they would be. They charged me the original estimate. They did not charge me more for the additional problem.

Routine maintenance found freon leaking from the coil. The technician thoroughly explained the options for fixing or replacing. Due to the age of the system and energy efficiency decided to replace the whole system. Compare-shopped and determined to go with Summers and Lennox systems with consideration of the price and product quality. The installer came in as scheduled and completed the work within a day. The work site was kept clean and no waste was left behind. The system worked well so far. Summers office mailed all needed documents for several different rebates and tax credits within 2 weeks. Overall the experience was excellent. After a week noticed the new outdoor unit was blocking a sprinkler head. Called Summers and they came in to have it fixed the next day. Also had a plumbing inspection done this week. Requested to also check the anon rod that was replaced in 2007 in the water heater. The rod was almost completely rusted. Glad it was found in time and replaced. Spent $125 for this. Comparing to the cost of replacing the water heater, this is well worth it.

Originally, I called Summer's Plumbing Heating and Cooling to repair work done by another company. The original appointment was scheduled for between 8:00 and 10;00. At 10:15 I called Summers to find out why no one had shown up and no one had called. I spoke with someone in their office who informed me that I was and quot;at the top of their listand quot; and someone would be out soon. Someone eventually called and showed up around 11:30. The service tech who showed up was professional and evaluated the situation, explaining what their approach to resolving would be and, after I told him that I was not in the market to spend thousands ($4-6K) to fix the problem with new equipment, gave me an estimate of ~$1700 to fix it as best he could (without installing totally new equipment.) He then promised to call me back to let me know when I could expect them to show up (the next day or the day after.) I had told him that I had a drywall (Glick's Drywall--GREAT service from another Angie's List provider) guy waiting to come back and replace the ceiling that had to have been pulled down due to the prior firm's issues, and that I would wait to hear from him. He never called back. I called him back once reminding him of my need to get a timetable so as to get my room (and house -since I had to clear out an entire bedroom) back to normal after the drywall portion of the repair completed. I also told him that if I didn't hear back, I would be forced to find a different firm that followed up when they said they would. They never called, and I have moved on to another provider who has been prompt, professional and I expect to complete the job (tomorrow) for less than the estimate Summer's provided. They were very professional and very nice. Their prices are very competitive.

They are very diligent. I had a problem and they could not find the problem easily. The technician kept searching and they called a top professional to help him and he fixed it promptly.

We have a contract with them. They are very knowledgeable. They come on time and they seem very knowledgeable. We would use their services again in the future.

The first time they scheduled, they called me ahead of time saying that the technician had a family emergency and they needed to reschedule. I understood this. The second time, they gave me a time for an appointment, and I waited at home. After the time slot had come and gone, and they didn't show up, I called them back. They told me that the tech called me at my home phone number before the actual timeslot, when on the way. They didn't call me on my cell phone, for which they had the number. They called before 2, and they didn't bother to call my cell. They decided not to show up because I hadn't answered. When I called them about this, they didn't apologize for not being there when they said they would be. The third time that we tried again to set up an appointment was yesterday from 2-4pm. Once again, they didn't show up. I called them after 4 and the explanation I received was that the tech had encountered a technical difficulty. I asked if someone should have called me to tell me this, and they said yes. At 5:20 Heather called me asking if I'd like the tech to come over after he'd finished his job. I said no at that time because 1) I was waiting for management to call me, as I'd requested, and 2) It was getting late and I was afraid they would run out of time to do the job. And still today, no one has called me back regarding this work for the Big Deal service.

They were excellent! I was thrilled.

It was an online special for $49. The worker was efficient and got it done in a hurry. I didn't like that they got overwhelmed and had to postpone and reschedule at least once. They rescheduled for about 1 1/2 weeks later. The price was great. They did show up when they said they would. They were friendly and the quality appears to be good. I would use them in the future.

They charged me about $12400 for the job. They had to take out the old systems. They did some air duct work. They took a lot of time to explain why I did not like the old system. The coil was undersized. They explained the improper sizing of the input versus the output. I found an exposed shaft that went from the garage all the way up to the attic, thereby, denting out all the hot air. They did some modifications and adjustments. However, they were very good at explaining what needed to be done differently. There was no pressure to it. It was a very attractive sales pitch. They got the job done and got out quickly. I will use them again in the future.

They waived fee to come because we also had them do the plumbing inspection. They were very friendly and helpful. They explained everything very thoroughly. We were very happy with the service. They even went to Lowes to get a new part so we didn’t have to order one.

The labor was quite expensive but we found the outage was due to a manufactures problem. I called Dave, the owner of the company, and he refunded the cost of the repair except for the diagnostic fee. I thought this was very good customer service, he didn’t have to do this. I really appreciated it.

As part of our regular maintenance check on the furnace, the service man noticed there was a leak which was causing the interior to rust and damaging the motor and other parts. Dave Ely gave us 2 estimates to replace either the motor and experience further issues or replace the furnace. We decided to go ahead with the new furnace. I called and they were able to schedule on the day we requested. Dave arrived as scheduled to complete the paperwork and then it took half a day or so to complete the installation. We are very happy with the new furnace and would recommend Summers.

The men who were to install my new washer were unable to do so because they couldn't shut off the hot water. They did get the cold water off, but it was dripping enough I had to leave a bucket under the faucet all night. I called Summers the next morning and told them about the dripping faucet. They were great — they got me into the schedule within a couple of hours. The plumber even offered to install the washer for me, but since I had a dryer to be installed too, I had to wait for the appliance company installers.

THE SCHEDULING WAS ABOVE AVERAGE, THE SERVICE WAS PROMPT AND FINISHED WITHIN A NARROW TIME FRAME AND EXACTLY AS SCHEDULED. SERVICEMEN WERE ESPECIALLY HELPFUL AND TRUE PROFESSIONALS. THE WERE VERY WILLING TO GO THE EXTRA STEP TO SATISFY ME (LITTLE EXTRAS NOT DIRECTLY COVERED IN THE CONTRACT)

Summer's couldn't install the closed loop system but they recommended Indiana Geothermal, the gentleman from Summer's came and waited for 45 minutes for the Indiana Geothermal to come. He was so patient and helpful. We will definitely use them to service the system. They were prompt and professional.

I have no problem with the way the new unit was installed. The big problem came when they failed to hook my water softener discharge back up to the drain which they disconnected when installing the new furnace. A few days after the installation my basement was flooded with 40 gallons of discharge from the softener. They sent out a contractor to take care of the water damage and other than the hassle of putting up with that, we seem to be back to normal. My main issue is that we NEVER received a call from the owner/manager apologizing for their error and for our inconvenience. No offers of a free maintenance visit...no "hey I'm really sorry that happened", etc. Nothing. I give people the benefit of the doubt. This was a simple (but extremely important) oversight that they made, however, this wasn't even enough to make us stop using them for service. More recently we asked them to come to our house to look at a leak under our kitchen sink and talk to us about replacing some fixtures in another bathroom. The guy shows up and was very nice....he claimed to have tightened something under the sink that would fix the problem. He left us with several catalogs to pick out a fixture and said that he would get back in touch with us the next day to order the fixtures and schedule a time to install. Guess what? The leak isn't fixed.....still leaks all over the place....and we never heard back from the guy regarding the fixtures that he asked us to pick out. I guess Summers is too busy for us so we'll go elsewhere from now on.

The price seemed very high for the work performed. They seemed like simple fixes as he was only here for 4 hours. The worker was punctual and friendly enough, but the price was just too high.

We originally heard about Summer's from a neighbor who recently used them. I double checked Angie's list and decided to go with them. They sent Dave out for the Tune-Up and I couldn't have been happier with the service he provided. He was very professional and I am 100% sold on Summer's if we would have any major repair that would be needed in the future. THANKS!

My husband thought he was the best plumber that we had had out previously. We did think the price of the pump was a bit high, but the plumber was excellent.
