Summers' installer tried to use wrong elbow covering for the air conditioner line. When I objected, he got the right style but the wrong color and was going to spray paint it. Again, I objected and he eventually installed the correct one. Even though Summers installed a whole house humidifier, the house felt very dry. Therefore, they rewired the furnace fan to run whenever the humidistat called for humidity, regardless of whether the furnace was on. This unacceptable arrangement made the fan run constantly, circulated cool air continuously, and still did not provide adequate humidity. I complained to Summers in an email. A manager then inspected the work and discovered I paid for a new humidifier, but the old unit had been reinstalled. It was removed and new one installed. My house was still much too dry. Next, the new humidifier started leaking water onto my floor. Summers' solution was to partially cut the humidifier's water supply, which did stop the leak but also further reduced my house's already inadequate humidity. I determined the humidifier was out of plumb by 1/4 of inch, which caused its shallow drain pan to overflow. That in turn produced the leak I had earlier observed. In addition, the half of the humidifier's pad located on the unit's high side was dry, due to the feed water concentrating on the low side. This is evidence that the unit's leak and its failure to produce adequate humidity was caused by the out-of-plumb installation. I gave up on Summers and am negotiating with another company.
Description of Work: Installed new furnace with whole house humidifier and air conditioner.

The technician arrived as scheduled for the routine furnace maintenance. He was polite and professional. He checked and identified the blower motor's capacitor was leaking and suggested to replace it to prevent the motor from damaged. I agreed. The charge was $78 with the part costing $40 and labor $38 after discount. The labor charge was high I think with the fact that the technician was already on site. Replacing it took about 5 minutes. The part cost is way to high. The price I found on internet for a 440w capacitor should be about $10. I did not argue with the technician since he was just following Summer's policy. Not sure if all pluming service providers have the same policy but I hope Summers can explain why they charge so much to customer in this case.

Unfortunately, our AC/heat pump AND our air handler/furnace motors BOTH quit within 24 hours of each other during the negative temperatures of the Polar Vortex our area has been experiencing. We called the local Summers office (Noblesville) for a quote to replace both systems. BEN K. arrived in the evening after a long day of repairing units for folks that were without heat. He was a delight to work with! He was professional, extremely personable, and while I'm sure he's heard the same questions from hundreds of other customers, Ben was very thorough when explaining the difference in products, how each unit works, etc. He really helped us feel comforted and relieved during such a stressful situation. Summers was the most competitively priced, and when you're buying both systems at the same time, the total expense is important. We felt that the products available through Summers was superior to the other HVAC companies that provided us with quotes. In addition, the Summers team provided us with the exact model numbers/names of the units we were looking to purchase so we could do some research on our own----another company we asked to provide a quote specifically told us that they DO NOT give customers specifics of their products so the customer is unable to and quot;price shopand quot; or look for comparable products with another company! We're so happy Summers did not take the same approach. Customers should feel comfortable and confident in the company, the products, and the services provided....and that's exactly how we felt with Summers. As the Noblesville branch as swamped with calls the day of our installation, they had 2 gentlemen by the names of DALTON and ERIC come up from the Columbus, IN office to install our new AC/heat pump and air handler/furnace. Both men were professional, personable, polite, and we were quite pleased with their service! They answered all of our questions, and stayed as long as necessary to make sure that the job was done right and that were were pleased. And to top it off, both men worked outside (well into the negative temperatures) ALL DAY LONG without complaining once. Their dedication to their work was impressive! (I WILL be writing a review on the Columbus branch, as well!) Honestly, competitive pricing and quality products aside, another reason we chose to go with Summers was how Ben presented himself as a representative of the company when providing the quote. When the gentlemen were here replacing the systems for us, both my husband and I felt very comfortable having Ben, Dalton, and Eric in our house. Their personalities were warm and inviting, they were honest, and didn't seem as rigid or standoffish as the other companies' representatives. Being a housewife with 2 small children at home, I need to feel comfortable and safe when there's a company in our home to provide a service......and Summers did not let me down! We will definitely be using Summers again! VERY PLEASED!!

Arrived home from work to fnd the furnace wasn't working a week before having its yearly tune up with another service provider. Because it was going to be in the lows of 18 degrees and was 6pm, I called Summers knowing they had after hours service. Vinnie was at our home w/in the hour. He diagnosed the issue and replaced the capacitor, which did work, however the air was not very warm. He had suggested this to see if it would take care of the issue, and would cost less (he was conscience of my budget being the holidays). Vinnie installed a new motor, plus checked carbon monoxide levels. We have been very happy with the result. Like many companies, it was less money if a maintenance agreement was purchased, which includes a spring and fall tune-up, and discount on parts necessary during the year. Agreement is good for HVAC or plumbing service.

I scheduled a winter furnace tune-up with Summers (first time to use them) for 12/6/13 to arrive between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM. They had an emergency call that morning and arrived at 10:30 AM. Upon showing Brad to the basement he started a disparaging dialogue on the furnace which included the typical lifespan of your “construction grade” furnace, the illogical duct fitting, the expediency that others clean a furnace with, uneven flame burn, etc. I left him to do his work and he shortly came upstairs to advise me of a major issue with the furnace (I have never had an issue with other than a minor part replacement) and that he had already called his partner “Vinney” (seriously – Vinney??) to come over and confirm. The stench of a confidence scam to sell a new furnace now was overwhelming. I advised him Vinney was not entering my home and to finish the cleaning and that I would NEVER purchase a furnace from Summers if they were the last company on the planet selling them. He just could not understand my not wanting him to do his best for me – the scripting was so obvious, it was laughable. He returned to the basement and I later went down stairs where he now had my furnace completely dismantled and spread on my floor (I was shocked) and wanted to show me more issues (obviously looking for any possible reason to expand the bill) I advised him to please finish the cleaning and returned upstairs. He came upstairs about 45 minutes later to ask me to come down. He had completely disconnected my gas furnace from the incoming gas line and now could not get it back together and offered to have a plumber come over for free to complete the repair or a partner of his to help him get this back together. I was on vacation waiting to go shopping and to lunch - I am livid (always in the past a cleaning is like 45 minutes and the company is in and out). I advised him to have his partner come over – much to his obvious dismay. I returned upstairs, called Summer’s and advised they needed to get Brad out of my house - NOW. Another tech from Summers came to the house, used a flexible gas-line to fix the issue and they collected their money and were gone after 2 hours and 40 minutes. A horrific experience – I will never use Summers again – once is way more than enough - such an obvious scam – they might as well just where a tag on their hat –“ Here to sell you a furnace”. I left N/A for the quality for I in no way trust what was done after seeing my furnace in pieces on the floor of the basement.

The tune -up went very well and I was impressed with the thoroughness and professionalism of the tech. I told him I wanted to wait on signing a maint contract and would call when ready. He followed up in August while I was away and I promised to call back. I called him back in Sept, bought the contract, and he said someone would call me back within a few days to schedule the winter tune-up. I waited about a month and when I did not receive a call I called Summers to schedule. The customer service rep while polite was not helpful. I was told I was on the call back list but they just hadn't got to me yet. The next available appt. was the day after Xmas and if I did not want that maybe sometime in January, no other choice. I chose Summers because I trusted the tech that sold the contract even through I paid a premium for not buying on the spot. I called back because of this trust. I found customer service is not really customer service but a and quot;schedulerand quot;. I told them I was disappointed in the time to get a winter tune-up. I said I wondered if I needed emergency service if they had enough tech to service customers in a reasonable time. No response. While Summers continues to advertise for new customers and promises an initial tune-up in a few days, they do but seem to care about existing customers. When this initial service contract expires I will look for enough company that backs up what they promise and provides service in a reasonable time frame.

We did reach out to the (removed member's name) and have explained how scheduling works for those with cleanings vs those that need immediate service. (removed member's name) was very understanding of our scheduling practices. Also, we were able to find an earlier appointment for their furnace cleaning. We appreciate (removed member's name) comments and willingness to discuss his experiences with us.

My toilet was flushing on its own during the night. It was determined that lime was at least partially to blame, so the plumber did a VERY thorough job of cleaning the tank out in addition to replacing the fill valve and supply line. There have been no problems since then.

We use the Summers in Noblesville. Have used Summers to replace A/C about 3 years ago. We have a maintenance contract with them and they call us to schedule appointments to check heating, air, plumbing every year. They don't push replacements but do inform if something should be replaced or when it should be replaced. Never feel pressured into anything. We knew our furnace needed replacement being it's 20 years old. They came out and inspected it first, then gave us a quote on furnace and water heater on Wed. Told us about all the rebates available. Came out 3 days later and install furnace and water heater. Arrived on time, stayed till they completed the job. Three guys and they were so friendly, courteous, hard working, and clean. They were very respectful of our house and even took out an old water softener that didn't work for us. Definitely would recommend them.

I called for the and quot;cleaning specialand quot; as we have several rental homes. I wanted to use them on my husbands office to check the quality of work. The tech and salesperson I originally called both wanted us to sign up for their and quot;plansand quot;. I hired Summers to clean a furnace. A tech arrived on time and completely dismantled the furnace. then went outside to make calls than came back and told us the unit was unsafe and he would not turn it back on. While the furnace was lying in parts on the floor. He gave us an estimate of , $2317, with additional discount if we joined their plan, to repair. He advised us that the furnace was not worth the repairs and we should purchase a new one. He gave us three options and quot;good better bestand quot; that ranged from $3988 to $6018. It took a strong conversation to get the parts put back together. This is a 14 yr old unit. The better part of it's life is gone but it is still workable and usable. I did not call Summers for a quote on a new furnace. The whole interaction just smelled like a bait and switch tactic. I am not questioning that he cleaned and inspected the unit. In all fairness it is due to be replaced in the near future. However, I do not think he should have dismantled the unit and then try to scare us into purchasing a new unit. I do not think he should have gone outside and made a cell phone call to the office after dismantling the unit. Additionally. I had made an appointment for three of our rental homes. I called and cancelled those appointments. The lady stated a manager would call me, that she would not cancel those appointments. I called again the next day and told her no one called and I wanted to make sure those appointments were cancelled. Again it took a strong conversation to cancel those appointments. I then called another HVAC person who came over within two hours. He restarted the system. There was no flames rolling out. The Inducer motor sounded fine and was working properly. He did not note any crack or issues with the unit other than a safety switch which had been bypassed. he did state the furnace was 14 yrs old. When I did ask him what a new furnace would cost he offered a more economical alternative.

My husband made an appointment for a serviceman to arrive at our home between 2-4 PM on Oct. 14th. When no one showed up by 4 PM, we called Summers - only to be told the call was for the 21st and not the 14th, which was certainly not the understanding my husband had when he made the appointment originally. The customer service rep was pretty snippy on the phone and we decided that it wasn't worth the hassle of dealing with an impolite and defensive customer service rep over a mistake they'd made. We had heard good things about this company, and had received a letter with good service offers from them, but this appointment snafu was a real turnoff.

We have tried several times to get a hold of this member and have left messages. We have been unable to get a return call so we can take care of this customer. We do our best to make all our customers happy and satisfied with our services. We would be more than happy to schedule an appointment at the customers convenience. Unfortunately sounds like there was a communication error and we apologize for that and would love the opportunity to take care of it.

I had been out of town for a few days and, upon returning, found that my air conditioning was not functioning. I called for help and Summers came the next day. As I called late in the day, this was actually a very rapid response. My lawn person had cut the wire to the air conditioner. The technician discovered this very quickly and repaired the severed wire and had the air conditioner up and running, much to my relief. I have used Summers' services many times and recommended that my daughter and son-in-law use their services also. The service I have received has been exemplary and I have a service contract with them. They check my air conditioner, furnace, and all the plumbing in the house once per year and the service contract is a fantastic deal. The contract provides discounted repair services in addition to the annual AC/furnace/plumbing checks. Great company with great peopl

I have a maintenance contract with summers . I called them for a water leak . The leak was outside my home. My sump pump was pumping out water and the outside pipe was clogged . So the water was leaking and coming back and the sump pump was running 24/7. The technician who came home from Summers was pretty rude and said nothing could be done . He collected money without performing any service. I will discontinue their maintenance contract .

We have tried responding to this member several times Both phone numbers we have on record have been disconnected. We then called the number listed in the white pages and have left a minimum of 6 messages with no response. I am not sure where the miscommunication came into play. We went to the customers house in April and gave them a quote to repair the water softener drain to code and then went back in July for a plumbing inspection and everything was in good shape. We will always try resolving any issues to the satisfaction of the customer. Unfortunately we need a response back from messages in order to take care of the issue.

when the tech heard we were talking with my father in law he got nervous. we asked Summer's for a quote on replacing the condenser and for replacing the entire hvac system - as the tech repeatedly told us that a 9 year old system was due to break down soon. almost ONE MONTH later and no call or quote from Summers. makes me think they are either professionally incompetent (no follow up) or were trying to rip us off (scared off by my father in law). we had another HVAC company from Carmel come in and they said that the condenser leak could not have been diagnosed the way the tech claimed to have done it, that there is no chlorine in the coolant so no risk to my family and that the system would have lost cooling power IT HASN'T the house is as cool as can be and no sign of Summers. I really believe they were trying to rip us off - we won't be dealing with Summer's any longer.
Description of Work: BEWARE OF THESE GUYS! as part of a service contract with Summer's they came July 3rd for a review of our hvac systems. the tech was 45 mins late for the appointment - the least of the problems. during the inspection, the tech who was personable and chatty found 3 problems: the base of the furnace was cracked, the motor fan was dirty and should be cleaned and (the biggy) the air con condenser unit was leaking. he almost raced upstairs to show me his fingers which appeared to be wet, which he claimed had coolant from a "small" leak in the condenser, and which he claimed to be able to hear. he said the coolant could not be refilled, had chlorine in it which was dangerous to my family and I and required a replacement of the condenser to the tune of over $1500. my father-in-law owned and ran a commercial (read skyscraper) HVAC company, so we called him and he was suspicious - he said the tech must be pretty amazing to be able to HEAR a condenser leak

It was really rather picture perfect! Dave, the salesman, arrived to give a and quot;second opinion, and quot; after we had an estimate by our long-standing service provider. Dave was professional, clean, knowledgeable, and courteous. He was to-the-point, and didn't mince words. He told us exactly what we needed, showed us the different-sized units available and the pros and cons of each. We decided on our unit, and Dave called the office to determine when installarion could occur. Two days later, bright and early, the installation crew arrived ready to work, There were three of them, and they seemed to work together well. They spent almost the entire day here, and they cleaned up well after themselves. My only probably nit-picky complaint has to do with the fact that at least one of the crew chewed tobacco. Although he spat into a container, and not all over my property, it was most unappealing to and quot;catch him in the actand quot; of spitting on a few occasions. Other than that, I could not have asked for a better experience. And so far, the units are dependable and performing well.

My first experience with Summers was with the installation of a new furnace and A/C unit on a cold December day. Our furnace stopped working on a Friday afernoon, just before our 2 young grandchildren were to come for the weekend. Summers' technician discovered a dangerous situation with the gas furnace which was approximately 27 years old. This news came as no surprise, and he showed me the clear evidence of overheating. Quite scary, especially when we'd relied on another local HVAC company on and quot;inspectionsand quot; twice yearly. I'd also had headaches recently when at home - apparently due to carbon monoxide from the faulty furnace. The representative sat down with me to carefully review and explain all options for replacement. I never felt pressured or given a and quot;sales pitch.and quot; Ultimately, I chose to replace both the furnace and a/c units which offered a better price point, plus rebates were available. At no time was I hurried or rushed to make a decision by the representative. In fact he encouraged me to read about each model and make a fully informed decision. Once I decided on the purchase, I paid in full with a a check rather than opt for financing. As part of the purchase, we receive the first year's summer and fall inspections at no charge. He assured me that we would have heat again in just a few hours. His word was excellent, and in no time there were 4 (FOUR!) Summers trucks in our driveway!! These guys were amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. They worked as a team and had the new furnace installed and operational just as the grandchildren arrived with their parents. Our son is an engineer and when he arrived with the grandkids, he checked out their work with glowing reports! I could not have asked for more courteous, responsive and professional work. In fact, had I relied on the previous HVAC contractor for another and quot;inspectionand quot; of the furnace, I might not be here today to write a review. The dangerous situation didn't develop overnight, and evidence of overheating became clear with Summers' thorough and complete inspection. I am completely satisfied with their work and products. Consider this a highly recommended company.
Description of Work: Spring inspection of air conditioning/heating units which were installed by Summers in December 2012. The inspection was free and came with the purchase of the new HVAC system. He inspected the units and connections.
