Response from John Mitchell Moving/Two Guys & A Truck
This was one of the most unfortunate situations we have ever experienced at our company. At the first hint of concern by the customer, our crew leader stopped the job and called the office. The police were then called and all parties cooperated to determine what had transpired. The job was then finished, along with the assistance of the general manager, who immediately went to the job site. Prior to hire, ALL of our candidates are subject to background check and drug screen. This candidate had NO indications of past legal issues that would have red flagged him. As a matter of fact, he was, at the time, still employed by another very highly rated moving company in Fishers. With excellent work history and experience, he seemed a perfect addition to our staff. However, we do not hire just anyone, even if they do appear great on paper. As in this case, we were utilizing him in a trial period, prior to actually hiring him, to see what our senior crew leaders had to say about his work ethic. After reviewing the events, we are confident that all due diligence and standards were practiced appropriately in this matter. Unfortunately for all concerned, he was not as he appeared. However, we made EVERY attempt to compensate our customer, agreeing to waive additional cost for the move (over $1200). She even called after the job and insisted on getting her initial $50 deposit back, which was refunded 10 days ago. We are grateful that this individual was uncovered prior to his employment with our company and very sorry for the stress he caused. We do stand by our EMPLOYEES and are confident in our hiring practices, as this incident proves.
