The movers where over an hour late, but they made up for it by being very quick. They where careful with our furniture and finished a full hour sooner than anticipated. They two men where very friendly also.

They were giving me a quote for moving service. They were rude. I didn't like there estimate and I didn't like there attitude. They acted like they were too good to move me. I would tell them to not be so rude to people. The price was too high. There punctuality was okay.

They showed up on the packing day and told us they were not only packing us but moving us that day as well. They had decided to lock our things in their truck at the destination and then deliver them early the next day. Unfortunately, they had not advised of this change in plans, and we were not prepared to have our beds, refrigerator, freezer, etc. moved that day. We had nowhere to sleep and had to get a hotel room. Despite the written estimate, they showed up with trucks that were too small to accommodate all of our things and could not get everything in one load. (Considering they moved us into the same house with the same furniture, etc. this was quite a surprise-- especially since we shared the previous move inventory sheets with them.) They pretty much stopped packing in early afternoon and starting throwing our things into boxes however they could get it in (I found hanging clothes -dresses and a leather jacket- stuffed into moving boxes --on the hangers still!). At the end of the day, they told us they did not have room for the rest of the items in the house or the storage unit and that we may have to wait a week or more to get them as they were fully booked all week. We protested as we had already given notice on both the storage unit and the rental home. They devised a plan to send another truck back up the next day to get the rest. When we got the bill, they had added in the cost of the additional trip to get the rest of our things moved. We asked to speak to the owner, who screamed at my husband and threatened to sue us if we did not pay the higher bill. After much debate and discussion over the inconveniences we experienced (my husband and I also both lost work time from having to move a day sooner), they eventually covered the cost of the unexpected hotel bill and reduced the bill to the original estimate; however, we will NEVER use this company again. The actual moving team (other than the leader - who had a strange habit of not acknowledging questions or comments) were very pleasant and good workers. They did a nice job of taking off doors to get things in the house and mostly put everything in the correct rooms. Also, the first two times we used them, we had pleasant experiences with great moving teams. This time was a terrible experience that we will never forget.
Description of Work: Had them come to do estimate. The plan was to pack one day and move the next due to the amount of things we were moving (an entire household and storage unit). This was our third move with them, and we felt comfortable with the plan.

Chris, Steffan, Blake, Dustin, and Ryan did a really good job moving our belongings recently. I thought the price was fair for the work performed. We had some heavy items as well (piano, gym quality elliptical machine), and the team problem solved and moved with ease. They probably cleared out our two story house with basement in two hours. There was some minor damage to some of our belongings and walls, but some of that is to be expected when moving. Overall, I was very pleased and would not hesitate to refer this company to a friend.

They were punctual to the minute. They estimated 2 hrs and it took 2 hrs and 5 minutes from arrival to departure. Three very nice (and strong) men who took all necessary precautions to not damage anything. Kudos to: Troy, Alex and Micheal.

The person who gave us the estimate for moving assured us of several things: the movers wouldn't be "kids;" the movers would be completely professional in their dealings with us; the movers would treat our household belongings as if they were their own. Only the first statement proved to be true. The movers were not "kids." On the first move from the house to storage, the team leader was crabby, impolite to both my husband and his crew, and generally not very attentive to the moving of our furniture, etc. The crew he brought with him was pleasant and responsive. On the second move, same team leader, different group of movers. Movers pleasant; team leader more pleasant than the first time, but crabby to his crew. We have now unpacked all of our boxes--two weeks after moving in--and the movers did not treat our "stuff" as if it were their own. One box--clearly marked "Fragile" in many places, had surely been dropped, and several family glass pieces were broken--some even in shreds. Two leather chairs were scraped; I think I can fix those. One lamp was scraped, and the red surface of the lamp is now scarred. I can't fix that. I was just disappointed in the whole process. We paid about $1500 to move from our house to the storage unit four miles away, and about $1800 to move two miles from the storage unit to our house. We were told by the estimator that we would not have to pay the men during their lunch break, but on the second move, we were charged for that hour. I'm not angry--just disappointed that we didn't receive what was promised. I'm glad I'm not moving again any time soon.

I scheduled them about 4 weeks out from our desired move date and provided me with the Angie's list discount when I mentioned that was how I found them. The week of the move I called a couple of days ahead to confirm we were on the schedule. They did and unexpectedly were able to give me an arrival window already (I was expecting to not get that until the day before). The team arrived on time and got right to work. We had everything fully boxed, packed, stacked and ready to go so that made it easy for them to get going. They were very deliberate and careful with our belongings and furniture throughout the move. Upon arriving at the house they toured to see where all the rooms were and throughout the move-in process communicated with me to make sure boxes and furniture were going to the correct locations for us. I would use them again for a local move (but hoping to avoid that for many years to come).

I hired this mover on two occasions to perform local moves within Indianapolis. The first time, a year ago, they did an excellent job. They seemed experienced and handled my move carefully and efficiently. The second time did not go so well. The move took far longer than I was originally quoted, clearly due to the inexperience of the crew. All of the guys on the crew were very friendly and wanted to do a good job, but they were simply inexperienced. The crew leader had been in the business for three years, but the other two had only 2 weeks under their belts. The results were (1) a slow move, which because you're paying by the hour means you will pay more than you should and (2) some damage to furniture and walls. For example, one of the rookie movers tried to force a chair through an opening scraping the wall and the chair badly. The administrative person I dealt with at their office is very professional, and upon receiving my complaint about the move credited me back one hour of the crew's time. They also proactively documented some scrapes they put in my new hardwood floor, and sent a repairman out to fix them. So they're trying to run a good business here. I rely heavily on Angie's List reviews in hiring service providers, and I feel obligated to share my experience. I unfortunately cannot recommend them.

They arrived on time, they got everything moved in and did a phenomenal job. They didn't even take a lunch break! We had to postpone the move date. They worked with us, kept open communication and were able to accommodate us.

The three men worked hard and quickly finishing the move in two hours less than the estimated time. The only problem was a desk was damaged in the move.

I had used John Mitchell moving in September 2014 and was very happy with the move. At that time they moved me from a ranch house in Irvington, and a storage unit, to a ranch home on the westside. I was charged $1100 for that move. During the September move they even stopped by my storage unit that was about 10 x 10 and loaded everything on the truck on the way to the new house .They finished in the afternoon, probably about 4:00 PM. I moved again August 11, 2015, the very same stuff, much of it in the same boxes without stopping by a storage unit, up to Fishers. They came out to my home, looked around, and gave me an estimate of $1100. They also knew we had used them in September for the previous move. When moving day came they were supposed to arrive at 9:00 and they were late by over a half hour or so. They also seemed to move much slower than the previous group. Instead of moving several boxes at once on a dolly they would pick up one at a time. 3 guys showed up for this move. They did not finish until the evening it was probably at least 8 PM. The bill was over $1400.00, over $300 above the estimate. Needless to say I was surprised given it was the same stuff, without a stop at the storage unit. I did not hesitate to use them a second time. I was pleased with the first move. But I can't say I would recommend them now or use them again.

I am very impressed with John Mitchell Moving "Two Guys & A Truck". Unfortunately, due to scheduling and logistics we are unable to use this company for our move but boy do I wish I could! The good reviews on this company is amazing! We called them for an estimate at 4:30 and Shawn Green came out the next morning to do a written estimate for us. His price was right in line with the other 3 movers we have contacted but what was so impressive to me was that his movers & packers are employees vs. contractors. The same people that load your belongings drive them to new location AND unpack. You know who is moving you. Thank you Shawn for your professionalism. I will recommend your company highly.

They were professional and very understanding. They made sure to stay within my budget and where very careful with my belongings and furniture. The only issue was that the couch was broken during the move because of the way it was stacked in the truck. They kept the couch on the truck and explained that they would either fix it if they could or replace it. Within a week they delivered the couch back to us all fixed. I will certaintly go with this company again if I decide to move later.

Very disappointed with John Mitchell Moving. I scheduled a home move with John Mitchell based on Angie's List reviews. I scheduled for an afternoon appointment. I received a call the day prior to confirm my appointment and they moved my scheduled time to first in the morning! Who does that? When I originally scheduled, it was never explained to me that my appointment time was flexible and could change on a days notice. They were unable/unwilling to make it right. Very unprofessional and very poor customer service.

We are sorry we were not able to accomodate this customer. His move was estimated for 2-3 hours. Small moves such as this are scheduled along with larger moves. Most companies that schedule appointments for in-home work do just what we do - prepare their schedule the day prior, based on estimated time , location and logistics. When booking jobs, we ask our customers what their PREFERENCE is as far as morning or afternoon, but we always let them know we can not guarantee arrival time. When he was called the day prior to confirm move information and arrival time, he was unwilling to accept anything other than a 1:00 start time. We offered to change our schedule and have a crew to him 11-12:00, but that was still not acceptable. While we strive to meet our customers' needs, but we are not willing to sacrifice one customer over another. It is our mission to provide the best possible move for each and every customer using our services!

The team of three movers arrived a few minutes early and got started prepping doorways and carpet. I was in awe how quickly they had our entire house loaded. It was an extremely humid and rainy day but they didn't let that slow them down. They took great care in moving the smallest box up to a large chest freezer. They were friendly, polite and extremely efficient. They unloaded and placed everything exactly where I requested at our new house. The final price was much lower than the quote so we were very pleased with that. We did opt for the insurance since we had a lot of appliances and furniture that we were moving. The day after the move we noticed our recliner wasn't working properly. We weren't too upset about it as these things happen and is why we opted for the insurance. My first phone conversation with the office manager I didn't have much confidence in her professionalism in dealing with claims. Was told someone would call me back. No return call. Second phone call made to the office I was given pretty much the same response. No return call as promised. Over a week later I called for a third time and spoke with Shawn who was attentive and scheduled a time a couple of days out to fix the recliner. I did give a C for responsiveness due to the office manager not returning calls, not trying to offer solutions, nor taking the claim as valid. But overall it was a good experience. The moving crew was awesome!! Shawn was extremely pleasant to work with.

The entire move experience far exceeded my expectations. We originally scheduled the move for a Satuday afternoon. Five days before the move, the landlord from the new apartment called to tell us the apartment would not be ready on that date. Ann, who was my contact at John Mitchell Movers, found another open date 5 days later that worked out well for all parties. The moving crew arrive just a little bit early and managed moving everything into the truck from the 10th floor with elevators that were having some problems. Considering this issue, they did a great job getting everything down in a very timely manner. The move into the new apartment took less than one hour. The entire move, including travel, was completed in less than 3 hours. I was very impressed with how professional Ann handled the entire process. She helped me find a solution that worked perfectly after I was put in a very difficult situation by the new landlord. The moving crew worked very hard and were polite, careful and professional. There was no damage to any of our possessions or to any doors or walls. After doing many moves myself over the years (children in college apartments), I will certainly use this company again. The cost was very reasonable and the wear and tear on my body was zero!! I highly recomment John Mitchell Movers.

The in-home estimate seemed accurate to other estimates we got, plus the price was better with the Angie's list discount. We were supposed to have three movers but apparently one decided not to show up that morning (we were told that), but that actually worked out to our advantage because we probably just needed the two movers anyway and then our hourly rate dropped. The guys showed up on time, were courteous, worked hard, and got the job done! They padded the doorways to the doors and to the stairwell they used. They offered suggestions for how to make the move go faster. Only had a few furniture nicks and marks on the wall (which we expected)--nothing major. We ended up moving some boxes ourselves the day prior to the move, so the 2 Guys took less time than we had estimated, so that's what we paid for--we didn't get charged for the time estimated. Great service; would use again.

It was a great experience from start to finish. When I called them initially, they held a truck for my desired move date and sent an estimator out to my house. Bob did a great job of explaining how they billed and what they would be doing, giving me tips on how to keep the costs down if desired (keeping what they move to one truck would save me an extra trip charge; having movers set all boxes in a common area would save on the time charge, as would directing traffic at the front door so they wouldn't have to find me and ask where things go), and what services they could provide (just moving or moving and packing). He left me a detailed estimate. I called again, placed a deposit, and waited for moving day. Todd, Todd and Timbo showed up promptly at 9 and let me put them to work. I hadn't prepared the house as best I could, so I was still moving not-ready things into corners and deciding which things didn't need to go just yet, but they easily worked with me to move just the things I indicated in each room, taking apart larger items as needed and carefully wrapping glass (which all made it safely). They were very personable and would make conversation as they loaded the truck. They made sure to check with me after each room was finished, and again after the truck was loaded, to confirm that there wasn't anything else I needed them to take. They had brought a van as well as the truck, in case I wanted them to move everything (Bob had estimated I had a bit more than one truck could hold; this turned out to be true), but because we ended up not loading the van, they didn't charge me for it. When they arrived at the new house, they'd bring items in the front door and I'd point them or show them to the correct room. I'd labeled each box with the room name, so for the boxes it generally only took once or twice (depending on who was loading the hand trucks) per room and then I didn't have to worry about those boxes again. (I chose to have them put the boxes in the right room - given the amount of weight they moved, it was probably a good decision!) They put smaller objects where I asked, and for larger furniture, they'd have me direct them to the precise spot I wanted it, and didn't mind going back to adjust something a bit if I'd realized it wasn't quite where I wanted it. They were done quickly, in less than three hours total (including drive time!), and I ended up spending less than half of what the estimate said, mostly because of the items I decided they didn't need to take (saving on both time and the trip charge for the van). I might regret not having them move all the items that will end up in my new house, but I don't regret using them, not at all. I was very happy with all the people I worked with and with the service - I haven't found any damaged items yet and don't expect to - and I would not hesitate to use them again in the future.
