Their rep came on 4/13/16 and gave us an estimate to move our belongings from a 1st floor apartment to a single story house. He was very professional. We were told that they would arrive at 9:00 a.m. and that it would take approximately 6.25 hours with three men to perform the work. Rep stated that it was common practice to slightly pad the estimate to cover unforeseen events. We paid the deposit and decided to move as many possessions as possible to the new house leaving only the furniture and approximately 20 boxes for the movers to help, lower the moving cost. My husband called and spoke with the company president about the possibility of a set fee for services. He was informed that the company does not do set fee contracts. The president informed my husband that the job looked as though it could be completed in 4.5 to 5.0 hours. Moving day arrived and we were called and told that the movers would not get there until sometime between 10:30 - 11:30, which was quite frustrating. When they finally showed up, they started by trying to remove a couch from the third bedroom. After one hour, they decided to move other items from the apartment and load the truck and think about how to move the couch later. My husband informed the crew leader that the movers who moved us into our apartment had removed one or more of the couch legs in getting the couch in question into our apartment. It appeared that the crew came to the job site lacking even the basic tools required take furniture apart for removal. After 3 hours, we were told the truck was full and they would have to take the first load over to the new house and come back for the rest of the items, including the above-mentioned couch. We were moving from Carmel to Indianapolis and this was at rush hour. We were stunned but had no choice except to do what they said since the remainder of our furniture was still in the apartment. The unloading at the house went well and I took them back to Carmel on back roads in order to beat the traffic on 31. The rep, on 4/13/16, evaluated the amount of furniture to be moved, but he never mentioned that two trips would be required with us paying for the time required for the extra trip. Upon arrival at the apartment, another person from John Mitchell Moving was there and we waited for someone else to deliver tools to dismantle the legs of the couch. At this time, we were approaching the amount of time it was estimated to totally move us and we still had to remove the couch and the remaining items and make another trip to the house. I was very upset. We are retired, in our late 60's and living on a fixed income. We had worked so hard moving boxes and clothes before the move and now it was going to cost us more than they estimated because they could not figure out how to move a couch out of a room. (This same couch was moved into that room 3.5 years earlier by another moving company and they had no problem.) I could not stand paying $135.00 a hour for 3 people to stand around and watch someone try to take the legs of of the couch. Therefore, I had them start loading up pictures that we had planned to take ourselves. Eventually, they were able to get the couch out of the room and loaded onto the truck. I then told the man who had come to help that I was quite upset with this whole day. I told him that we had moved from a 3 story house to a storage unit for 10 days and then to our new apartment for $$1500.00. I could not see how this move was going to cost me 2/3rds of that. He told me they would adjust the amount of time for the move. After arriving back at the house with the second load of belongings, we were told they could not get the couch into the room we had wanted it to go into. The tools had been taken by the other man when we left the apartment. We did not want to pay for them to try and get the couch in the room and had them leave it out in the garage. When I went to check on the freezer, I noted that it was uneven. Upon inspection of the freezer, I saw that it had been damaged. The area around the compressor had been bent. I told the head man of the moving crew and he noted it on our receipt. We moved on 5/24/16 and have twice called and left messages with them and have yet to hear from their insurance agent. I am very disappointed with this whole experience. I have used Angie's List for years and this is the first time I can say I would not recommend a company I found on the list. Use this company at your own peril.

Hello We do apologize for the confusion and difficulty of getting the sofa out of the bedroom. We had to utilize a specific drill and bit due to the screws in the legs of the sofa. As you will notice on the bill we did take 1 hour off of the time to adjust for the time we dedicated to the sofa. After making adjustments to the bill we did come in over $200 under the original quote. We apologize for any confusion or miscommunications. They did an outstanding job! They started the day on time. First, we did a walk through so they could understand the big picture. Next, they got started. They were efficient yet careful. The trip to my new home went smoothly, and the crew unloaded the truck equally quickly. They delivered boxes to designated rooms and set up furniture as needed. I would recommend this company and this crew to anyone planning a move.
Description of Work: Two Guys and a Truck movers moved my household goods from the west side of Indianapolis to my new home on the northeast side. Prior the to move, a representative came to my home to estimate the size of truck and number of men needed to do the job effectively. He was courteous and professional as were the employees I spoke with on the phone when scheduling and following up on the move date. On the day of the move the crew arrived on time. Chris, Steffan, and Ethan did a great job from start to finish. They were courteous, efficient, and professional. They loaded my entire household (over 2,000 square feet) in three hours. The men never complained even though I had several large, heavy pieces of furniture plus a washer and dryer.

The movers were nice enough. However they stored my things in a truck that leaked all over my furniture. They also broke an antique night stand and then attempted to hide it rather than bringing it to my attention. They did end up cleaning the furniture which turned out fine. But we were without our furniture for a week and a half. I would not recommend this company.

The 3 guys showed up to move things from our storage unit to our house and then move additional items from an old storage unit to our new one. They were all prompt, kind, and very efficient. The quickly moved the items and were done quicker than I had expected. It even started to pour down rain and it didn't slow them down a bit. They were great and we would definitely hire them again!

They listened and did exactly as they were told without complaint. They climbed stairs the whole time and nothing was damaged. They disassembled furniture and reassembled it perfectly. Great experience!

The work was excellent! Three staff (I do not have their names on hand right now, but will edit this to update it), came promptly as scheduled and worked efficiently and fast; all the while communicating with me to be sure they had the right items and that the job was done to my satisfaction. We received a detailed quote approximately two weeks before our move. We were told due to the size of the move it would take two days. The first day was for packing only. The second was for the move itself. We were given an estimate and told they would not go over that amount. Our house is approximately 4800 square feet in size and we'd lived there for almost 17 years. We were very nervous about the move and hoped we were in good hands. We were! Chris and Steph showed up on time the first day and got right into it. After an initial walk-through to size up the project, they got to work. They had almost everything packed late into the day and even took over a first load. Since it was a local move (12 miles away), we were able to drive back and forth to help provide direction. We ran into a snag on day two when one of the five helpers decided to quit. Chris noticed our concern and said "don't worry we won't stop until we are completely finished". True to his word, they kept at it until we were all moved. As we sat down to settle up at the end of day two, Chris asked for feedback and thanked us for using their company. We were very happy with the end result and would use them again in the future. This team worked very hard and kept at it constantly. If we hadn't sprung for lunch I think they would have worked right through! By the way, our price ended up being about 1/3 less than the quote. Nice job guys!

Troy Alex and Tim did an excellent job moving furniture from my moms condo to my home with some items also going to moms new residence. They were careful efficient friendly and polite. I would definitely have them again. A+ On the other hand...My initial contact with the company was positive when I called to schedule about a week ahead of time. Ann took all the info, was very pleasant, and offered to arrange to have some more experienced crew members who could handle our narrow hallway to basement scenario. I had the impression that they would be easy to work with and accommodating, and I was told to expect a phone call confirming the schedule the day before the move. I was asked if I preferred an am or pm start time and I requested a pm start time. Ann called at about 1:00 on Friday before our Saturday move and told me to expect the movers between 11:30 and 12:30 on Saturday. So, that was a bit earlier than I was hoping for, but manageable, and I made plans. Some last-minute stress was brought on, when, at 5:00 pm, Ann called to explain that the customer scheduled for Saturday morning had cancelled and that she wanted to start our move several hours earlier than 11:30 am. I explained that I could not do that, having made my plans already based on the earlier call, and instead of understanding my situation, she complained, saying she would be "paying guys to sit" and insisting that the pm move time we had discussed was "a preference that they would try to accommodate" but not guaranteed. Her tone of voice and manner of speaking made it very clear that she thought I was a problem for not accommodating the last-minute time change that she wanted. Moving an older parent is stressful enough! I suggested that I could cancel if the agreed-upon time no longer suited, and made it clear I was upset about getting the move started on the wrong foot, and she agreed to have them come at 11:30 as previously agreed. Whew! More drama than I needed the day before a move! So, movers A! Scheduling C!

This was our second move with this provider, having hired them about 3 years ago. Ann responded to my request for a quote promptly and made scheduling our move easy. The movers came on our scheduled date on time and were very professional and courteous throughout the process. Our move ended up taking much less time than expected, resulting in a much lower than expected bill. We were so pleased with services received. Our move went very smooth. Chris, Steffen and TJ came to our home about 15 minutes early and were ready to go. Chris did an initial walk-through to understand what was being moved adn the team went right to work. We had a couple of very large items in our basement but even under pressure the team had everything removed with zero damage. In the end they finished the job in less time from our estimate so the final cost was less than our budget. This was a great group of guys to work with and I would be happy to given them a reference. Thank you again for a wonderful experience.

They gave us a fair price, allowed a discount for Angie's List customers, and performed the work quickly and efficiently. Todd was the crew leader, and his willing to to tackle our king size water bed mattress, which could not be drained entirely, impressed me very much. Most movers can get the job done, but I was very impressed with the positive attitudes of the 4-man crew, the fact that none smoked, and the speed in which they accomplished the work. It also must be noted that every one of them seemed to care very much about the care of our goods. It meant a lot to us. At the new house, as my wife kept changing her mind about where things should be set, there was NO resentment. (Not sure I could have accomplished that! :) ) It was obvious that they knew that the customer was always right.

The men arrived and I showed them what I wanted moved. I moved out of a tri-level house, with three bedrooms, 1-1/2 baths, living room, kitchen, family room and extra room off the family room into a 2 bedroom apartment with living room, dining room,2 baths. They had to take apart my bed and two bunk beds and move the living room furniture, a desk and file cabinet and my computer stand and a book case. They were very quick and efficient. They moved all this furniture plus some boxes and chairs and other things into my apartment. The three movers were Chris, Steffen and Ryan H. I was very pleased with everything they did. They were polite and very professional. I chose this company because of their high rating on Angie's list and an A+ rating from the BBB.

It all started as normal and pleasant. Called them on the 29th and they said "to do me a favor" they would have a truck and 3 guys over to do the moving by around 11:30am. Told them that it was a tiny office with just some furniture and several computer servers--two persons would even be an overkill. Response was that they needed one extra guy to watch the stuff at the truck and the price difference between 2 and 3 would be about the same. Duh? Lying and red flag!! The office building has a commercial loading dock and I have two guys on my side to watch stuff. Why am I paying for 50% more labor and be told lies when they really want to give jobs to their three-man crew for a supposedly "Two guys and a truck" advertisement? At least it's false advertising. For 3 hours, each person would be paid $50/hr for a total of $450. I am quite upset to know that it could have been a $300 job for 2 to begin with. Since it's near the New Year's Eve, I decided to give it a try still. Told them and the company front lobby that they would come at 11:30am and made arrangement for packing in the morning. At 8 through 9am, several voice messages came and I picked up the phone to learn that they had a cancellation so that they'd come earlier. No!!! I told them. I wasn't ready to overpay for waiting time if they failed to show up at the right time. Still at 10:15pm three guys showed up and the frontdesk professionals (managing an entire commercial building of 40 tenant companies) stopped them, citing that they showed up early for their appointments. Frustrated, they called upon me. Me coming to their truck. Politely asking them to wait or return by their scheduled time to begin moving. And they left. At 11:45pm. There's no truck coming. Called their office. A woman manager answered. She was so rude and started complaining about me for declining service. Told them that they are supposed to give respect and honor their service reservation. She said that she re-assigned the team to the next job and they won't come back till New Year's Eve. Utterly disgusting. I asked for an apology and refund. She just hung up on me after indicating she's the only manager and this is the way her company operates. She said she would charge $50 for the "cancellation". Completely insane. This business is a liar. Stay away.

We do not have any record of a customer by this name. However, we did have a similar episode occur on December 30 for a different customer. He called in at 4:30pm on Tuesday, December 29 and spoke with the owner of the company. He was given a quote for 2.5 hours with a 3 man crew. The customer said he was desperate to get the move done, and we were able to work him in the following day. He was told that the crew would call him en route to the job site, as soon as their 1st job of the day was finished. The crew called, but was unable to get any response. The office also called and left several messages. Still nothing. When the crew arrived and was finally able to locate the customer, he told them he wasn't ready and to come back in 1 1/2 hours. He also told them he had "decided" that he wouldn't need 3 guys and we should only have 2 when we returned later at his convenience. The office then called him again, leaving another message. He was told that the crew was ready to take care of his move and would not be able to do it later in the day, and they guys were instructed to wait another 20 minutes. No response. The crew then went on to their next job. The customer called several hours later and expected to have his move done at that time. Obviously, this was no longer an option. We offered to, once again, work in the job the following day, Thursday, December 31. However, the customer was the one who was rude and threatening, eventually hanging up on the office personnel. This was an unfortunate and costly episode.

We got three bids for moving and this company was actually the highest price; however, they were the most thorough with their description. The nice man that bid the job said he would rather tell us too much time then not enough time. It should be noted that it cost less then the actual bid amount in the end. On the day of the move our home we were moving out of lost power. It was a dark/gloomy day and the three men showed up on time with a positive attitude and were willing to work around flashlights/lamps/candles. They were awesome! They moved large Amish furniture, mattresses, two additional bedroom furniture sets, sectional. futon, kitchen table/chairs and several random items. When we got to the new house they were very careful on our wood floor and wood stairs. They had to move a very heavy large safe to our basement. The three men worked together very well to get it done and didn't damage anything. Todd was the leader of the crew. He was very professional and touched base throughout the process to make sure everything was done correctly. TJ and Cody were very respectful to the entire family as well. While I don't want to move anytime soon, I would recommend them to anyone. They were honest and proud of their work, which is always appreciated.

Movers arrived a minute early (8:59 AM), and called us to let us know they were there. We were only 30 seconds behind them. Let them in and described details of what we needed done - based on the estimate, I had a quote for 2 hours minimum. We actually decided based on having to pay that minimum, that we could have them move more things that we intended to. So, we described the couple of locations we were going to (a house, storage unit, and Goodwill), and they took care of everything. They were really fast, but safe and careful, also courteous and very friendly. One shelf broke apart while they were moving it, but that was a cheap piece of junk anyway and it was already falling apart...we really should've just junked it instead of trying to save it. They offered to dispose of it for us, so that was good so I didn't have to bring it to the dumpster. They had everything loaded up in 40 minutes and I must say I regret that I didn't have them pack and move even more stuff, since I had about another 1/2 hour on my minimum and I had to load that stuff up myself that week! So, they moved the things that were going to my house, then dropped off at Goodwill, then to the storage unit. The final tally came in $50 under the estimate (or maybe that was the Angie's List discount). Anyway, I was very happy with the service. Will hire again if needed, and will recommend (in fact, I just did!).
Description of Work: Moved many household items, boxes and totes from a two-story apartment to a house, and some to a storage unit. Also took things to the nearby Goodwill.

Chris and his team were amazing. They came into a house that had more items than they expected and still did the entire job easily. I was quoted a price of 679.00, and even with a lot more things to move than we originally thought, the team barely went over and the total price was still under 700.00. On top of being incredibly efficient, the guys were pleasant and fun. Making the entire experience a good one
