Description of Work: Provider was unable to honor his Angies List deal for mulch for a variety of reasons he explained in an email. he faulted angies list for not checking how many commitments he could make. he is a one-man band. his overall evaluation should not be graded since the work was not done. angies list found another mulch provider for us.

Description of Work: After several messages, I finally received an email from Carl at CNS explaining his situation. I had already come to believe he had been overwhelmed with the response so was not surprised. I do understand his situation and am not upset about the company not being able to complete the deal. Mistakes happen. Owning a small business is hard and he probably did not have a complete understanding of what would happen. However, after this instance, I am not a fan on Angie's List deals AT ALL. I have had nothing but bad experiences when I have taken advantage of them. Companies get overwhelmed and then send whoever they can find to do the work whether they are qualified or not. I will never sign up for another one again.

Description of Work: My last communication was just a couple days ago, when he said he couldn't honor the deal. I had contacted him and got an email saying they would be call within 24 hours. After 6 days, I hadn't heard from him, and sent him another email...and got the same reply. That's when I responded saying, 'This is the same message I got before and you never called." That's when he contacted me by email saying he's had a string of bad luck, truck broke down and costed him a lot of unexpected money, etc, etc. and apologized for not being able to fulfill his obligation.

Description of Work: Provider was a no show for appt on June 5th. Received attached email when I contacted him. **** Hi Erin. I thought I had communicated with everyone who purchased the big deal, but apparently I haven't. I'm going to copy and past below an email I had to send out because of a series of circumstances I encountered after I signed up. Unfortunately with all the bad circumstances I encountered after I signed up, I'm going to be unable to perform the service. The email below will give you all the details. Once again, I'm sorry and I hope you can accept my apology. Here is the email: I'm writing to you this evening, in reference to the Angie's List Big Deal Mulch Coupon. First off, I'd like to apologize to you for the way the Big Deal went. I'm a new advertiser with Angie's List and this was the first Big Deal I've ran and will be the last. I'm just as disappointed how things went as you must be. I went into this with a can-do attitude. I'd like you to know, I'm not the kind of guy, you might think I am. I do care about my business and the clients I serve. As proof of that, before the Big Deal hit the street, I was working 8am to 9 to 930pm, 7 days a week. I'm 48 years old and was and am still for the most part, working those same hours. That's over 90 hours a week. I'm serious about my business. As proof of that, look at my reviews before the Big Deal. After the Big Deal came out, I had a series of unfortunate issues that played a part in how things went. The differential went out in my work truck and I had to rent a U-Haul to continue working. Between those two things, it cost me almost $1500, which left me with just enough money to purchase gas to save my lawn mowing business. I had no money to even purchase mulch. The guy who was working for me, quite without notice. I was contacted by the Big Deal rep late in the week, and rushed into making a decision so the sale could go out that weekend. Furthermore, I was not told I could sale as many or as few mulch coupons as I wanted. He said 34, so I thought that was typical. Yes, I made a stupid decision. But I do believe, I'm not the only one who has fault here. I'm not asking for you to forgive me, but try to put yourself in my shoes and understand the decision I was left with. The situation was to the point, if I purchased mulch for one more coupon, I couldn't have even purchased gas. I don't believe I've ever been in such bad shape. I hope this email gives you some kind of idea how things went so wrong. I hope you have a nice weekend and once again, I'm sorry Thank You, Carl P****** Owner, CNS Lawn Care & Handyman Service, LLC

This is a terrible example of a provider who should be banned from ever advertising on Angie's List. He has no concept of how to plan his work so that it can be fulfilled. I waited over a month to have him cancel at the last minute. I caution anyone to avoid this company.
Description of Work: The provider did nothing. He set up a time to mulch, then the day before informed me that he could not do it and blamed it on Angie's List for not warning him about overcommitting.

I did not blame Angies List. I do think Angie's List needs to do a better job of interviewing before selling any kind of Big Deal to a company. I was also never informed that I could limit the number I could sell. I'm a brand new advertiser, and this is not the way to throw a company under the bus. I would ask that you read my reviews BEFORE this Big Deal. I do care, regardless what this member says!!

I entered a work date as I coould not process this without it, but the work was never done. You even asked if the services were provided, and I answered no so I could not put in a date the work was done as it wasn't.
Description of Work: They responded immediately to our request for delivery and installation of the mulch we purchased, and since they were overwhelmed I told them we did not need it for a few weeks. They were very happy to hear that. I never heard from then again. I tried calling several times, left messages when I could as their mailbox was full on several attempts to reach them.

Like the other reviewers---I bought the mulch Angie's List deal and Carl kept putting me off and then did not deliver on the date he said he would. I'm asking for a refund. This is the 2nd Angie's List deal where the contractor has not delivered on services. I think a bigger problem is the Angie's List deals. I'm not buying them anymore. It seems like the goal is for a contractor to offer something cheaply and then to try to get you to buy other services, and if you indicate you don't want the services, the contractor just ignores you. Also, if a contractors has 25% F reviews, how can their average review be a B?

Ordered a big deal for two yards of mulch delivered and installed for $87. I contacted them and asked what it would cost for an additional yard. I agreed to the price, and he said it would be two to three weeks, due to demand. At the end of three weeks, I got a message asking if I could wait until June, which would have been about 7 weeks from the initial purchase. I called back and said I would prefer he honor his original estimate. He called back and asked if Thursday of the next week would be OK. I agreed. On that Thursday I tried to call since I hadn't heard anything. Then I emailed him asking when he would be there and to arrange payment for the extra yard. He wrote back and said he apologized, but could not follow through on the deal and said he was in contact with Angie's List to find another provider. His reasons were that he was not told he could limit the number of deals he sold and the money from the Big Deals through Angie's List did not come in quickly enough to allow him to pay for the mulch. Plus he is a two person operation, his truck needed expensive repairs and he had to rent one, money was tight and he has been working 80 - 90 hours per week. I have contacted Angie's List for a refund, and ended up buying and putting in the mulch myself. It sounds like he got in over his head and did not respond well. He should have contacted me (and probably others) prior to the date he scheduled the service.

3 times the service provider asked to reschedule the work and then did not show up on the day it was to be performed. I had to reach out to the service provider and had to ask what was going on and he said that something happened with his business and he is not going to be able to do the work. This did not go well, I had to get a refund of my purchase and get the mulch elsewhere.

I'd like you to know, this is not the service I pride myself on. I've had some circumstances beyond my control that has lead to this being a decision, that should have never been made. Sometimes things happen, that we don't expect or can plan for. When I took this special on, I had help and the funds to get through them. SInce I ran this special, I've had to let my help go and I've had a $1500 in truck repair and rental truck fees so the work could go on. I understand the frustration. I'm frustrated as well. I'm a very hard worker, who cares about his clients. To show that, I've been working 7 days a week from 8am to 9 or 930pm. Please forgive me for the bad impression this mulch special has given you. As a side not, I did not run the second special. I made it clear with Angie's List I did not want to activate the second mulch special. This was a situation that was out of my control. I'd like you to get an accurate impression of my company. I ask you to read the previous ratings and reviews prior to the big deal. I'm trying to build my business, so I do care about my clients and the work I provide.

I've had no problems with them. He always does a good job and my lawn always looks really neat when he's done. He cleans up the clippings and even if the grass is a little long he doesn't complain or anything and always makes it look great. He can get pretty busy at times, but once I do get a date from him he sticks to it and every time he's shown up he has been very professional.
