The technician came and told me that I needed a new garbage disposal and that he couldn't get it until a few business days. Later on, I was able to fix it myself, and it still works to this day.

Dear [member name removed], Thank you for the positive responses for Punctuality, Professionalism, and Responsiveness, we are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the service overall. We are happy to hear that you were able to get fix it yourself. Our record show that we stopped out at your home on 8-17-05 to unclog your kitchen sink for you and that your garbage disposal had jammed. A note was made that you would call us back if you wanted the disposer replaced. We also show that you called us on 6-18-05 to clean out the kitchen drain and to cable out a bathroom lavatory sink drain and all were draining normally when we left. Thanks again for the business, please let us know what we can do better in the future to serve you.

Korte did an excellent job overall. I rated the price a B because the cost was somewhat high, but I chose them based on their excellent ratings and they were able to replace the water heater the same day I called for service. They removed an old water heater and replaced it with a 75 gallon water heat. I had them also install an expansion tank. My water heater is plumbed with a recirculating system so they re-plumbed everything to fit with the new heater. The service provider was extremely polite, courteous and committed to doing a good job. He arrived promptly as promised and stayed until the new water heater was installed correctly. He found an original plumbing mistake that was not to code, so he updated everything to current code. The water heater was inspected by the city inspector's office and passed without any problems. I highly recommend Korte, especially for quick service.

Saturday, October 6, 2012 When we turned on the tap, no water came out. At this point, we?d been in the house about three months and had no local Yellow Pages, so we went online and Googled ?emergency plumbing service? and found Korte. We called and Josh said it was likely our well pump, but that there was a chance it was the pressure switch. He said it would cost $290 for him to come out and replace the switch and warned us that might not work. Facing an entire weekend with no running water, no flushing toilets, no showers, we told him we wanted to give it a try. He came out and replaced the pressure switch. As he feared, it didn?t fix the problem. He recommended replacing the submersible well pump and said Korte could schedule us for first-thing Monday morning. (He explained that it would cost thousands to do that kind of work on a weekend.) Monday, October 8, 2012 Korte?s ?well experts,? Mike and Neal, come out to replace the submersible pump. They have no idea what kind of well head we have, nor do they have any idea how to get it open. But they assure us all the while that they are experts. They tell us, ?We have 75 years of well experience between us. This is all we do.? They spend hours on the phone, consulting with their fellow ?experts? and supervisors, even going so far as to text a photo of our well head to their most expert guy, but no one has a clue. It?s all so very unusual, like nothing they?ve ever seen before. They decide that we have some sort of special, customized well head. They tell us that it will need to be cut out and replaced with a standardized well head. They bring in a backhoe, dig up half the front yard, cut out the existing iron well head and replace it with a PVC well cap. The cost is $3250. Noted on the invoice is the fact that our water table was at 4 feet. It?s important that Korte made this notation after the worst drought in Indiana in 50 years. At this point the well is working, so we hired a landscaper to come in to re-landscape the front yard to cover up the giant mud pit left by Korte. This cost several thousand dollars. Sunday, April 14, 2013 The well head starts spewing water. (Why do these things always happen on a weekend?) We turn off the pump at the breaker and call Korte. The tech we spoke with, John, insisted that if we had turned off the pump, there was no way that water could be coming up out of the well head. On that and two subsequent phone calls, he was condescending and rude, refusing to believe that we had turned off the pump. He kept insisting that what we were describing was ?impossible.? He said the best he could do would be to come out and verify that the pump was off, but that it would cost $111. We declined his offer of ?help? and spent a sleepless night worrying that the house was going to flood with all that water gushing out front. We also spent another day without any running water or flushing toilets or showers. Monday, April 15, 2013 Neal from Korte shows up and verifies that the ?impossible? is happening and that everything we had been telling John was correct. He replaced the wire-nut electrical connectors inside the well head with waterproof crimp-and-heat-shrink connectors. He said that nothing could be done to stop the water from gushing. He said that once the water table went down, the well head would stop gushing. When we noted that no one else in the neighborhood had a well head that was gushing water, he said that we should be proud of our well head. He actually said, ?Enjoy your water feature.? He suggested that if the gushing water, which was continuing to flood the front yard, started to get to us, we should ?stuff a towel down in the well head.? He said the charge for waterproofing the electrical lines was $180. When we protested, asking why they hadn?t installed waterproofed electrical lines back in October, he said he ?didn?t anticipate? at the time that waterproofing would be needed, and he insisted he should be paid for this call because ?the situation has changed.? Saturday, April 20, 2013 We notice that water is coming into the garage through the electrical conduit coming from the well head. The water is traveling up through the conduit, down the electrical wires and into the 220-volt junction box for the pressure switch, exposing us to possible electrocution. The breaker for the pump is clicking and humming as though it were about to short out. We try to relieve the water pressure ourselves by turning on a hose in the already-flooded back yard and running the faucets indoors. We let the hose run outside for four days straight. Doing so does keep water from coming into the garage. The well head continues to gush. It?s been seven awful, extremely stressful days of water gushing from the well head into the front yard, with no end in sight. Saturday, April 27, 2013 It?s now been two weeks and the water continues to flow from the wellhead. It shows no signs of slacking, much less stopping. The front yard has several very large, puddles of water that look to be going stagnant. It is starting to smell, and we feel it must be a health hazard. We decide to do our own research on Google. After doing very little reading, we discover that our original well head WAS distinctive precisely because it is designed to alert well specialists that they are dealing with is a naturally pressurized well: 1. Ours is a flowing artesian well, one in which pressure from within the aquifer will, left alone, actually push water right up the well casing and out its top. 2. Our old well head was a spool, a very distinctive, easily recognizable well cap designed expressly for flowing artesian wells. In addition to keeping naturally pressurized water from coming out of the well head, the spool prevents the well casing from cracking in the winter. 3. The water coming out of our well head is not unusual, nor is it something that cannot be fixed. In fact, it MUST be fixed before more serious, permanent damage is done (including well and/or aquifer damage and contamination, biohazard conditions, flooding, property damage and even sinkholes). We discovered these facts in about 10 minutes with Google. Sunday, April 28, 2013 After doing more research we call Korte. Like the previous Korte ?experts? we?ve dealt with, Brad has no idea what we?re talking about. He does not know what a well spool is, what a naturally pressurized well is, that water flowing out of a well head can be stopped. He asks us where we got our information. We tell him Google. Brad says that he will have to get with the people involved and they will call us back on Monday. When I ask when we should expect his call, he replies late afternoon. With our confidence in Korte at zero, we decide that it?s best to try to find an actual well expert, someone who knows what we are dealing with. Monday, April 29, 2013 On Monday morning, we start calling well specialists from the Yellow Pages. (We have a phone book at this point.) We got through to someone who was familiar with flowing wells and explained our situation. He calls right back and says the part he needs is in stock and he can come out and fix the problem right away for $450. Less than a half hour after an actual well expert arrives, the water that has been flowing out of the well head for fourteen excruciating days is stopped, completely and permanently. He estimates that had we called him to swap out the pump, the job would have been $1500-$1600 total. There would have been no need to dig up the yard, no need to re-landscape, no need to replace our solid iron well cap with a plastic PCV model. And most importantly, there would have been no two weeks of water gushing out of the well head, no two weeks of stress and worry and sleepless nights, no spending our nights and weekends trying to figure out what was going on. We cannot speak about the quality of any other Korte work, but it is our feeling, based on our experiences with them, that they are NOT well experts. The last time we allowed Korte to come out on April 15th, as far as they were concerned everything was fixed; they did not care that water was shooting out the top of our well and flooding our yard. It was two weeks later, after WE called and told THEM what kind of well we had, that they said they would check into the matter. When our new well expert went to pick up the proper well cap, Korte was there asking the supplier questions, trying to learn all about flowing artesian wells and how to stop the flow of the water. We decided we were done with Korte?s ?earn while you learn program.?

Response from Korte Does It All, Inc
10/16/12 Our service technician came to the stated residence and replaced the pressure switch. Unfortunately this did not repair the issue which the homeowner was aware could happen prior to the tech arriving to the home. The work was paid in full and [member name removed] signed the invoice accepting the work and the charges. After this service call arrangements were made to install a new submersible well pump and remove the old. 10/8/12 Our service technician came to the home and excavated down to the pitless and removed the upper part of the casing above the said adapter and replaced the adapter and casing. The existing adapter was extremely corroded and did not allow for the pump to be pulled leading to its removal being necessary to utilize the existing well and not drill a new one. The static water level was at 4 foot at this time. Static ground water levels can change with weather and others drawing water. A new pump, drop pipe, electrical cable, pitless adapter, and brass fitting were installed. The system was then tested and the excavator brought everything to rough grade with the very moist dirt that had been surrounding the area. The Invoice was then signed accepting the work by [member name removed] and payment was made for the job. The budget estimate of the job prior to work was signed for by [member name removed] was between $3000 and $4000. The total for this work after completion was totaled $3250. Prior to the next service call on the matter, [member name removed] called into our office and stated that water was shooting up from the well casing 20 foot and flooding her yard. The customer was told to turn off the power supply to the well and an appointment was made to send a technician to the home ASAP. 4/15/13 Our technician went back to the residence due to a breaker tripping on the well system. Up on investigation the static water level overflowed the casing and shorted out the electrical connections between the pump and the supply of power from the house. Due to evidence of the ground water level raising we installed heat shrinks connections on the wires in place of the standard wire nuts. This work was signed and accepted by [member name removed]. After this service call we never returned to the home. A long conversation took place between myself (Ray Abbott) and [member name removed] where I stated I would locate a well head seal that would remedy this issue and have it installed at no charge. I located the part and called back to leave a message and no return call was ever made to our office. Korte Does It All takes pride in helping our customer with their mechanical needs. We do our best to respond to our customer’s needs. We feel that the well failure at this residence was handled professionally and even with the unusual circumstances with the well and its original components our company did everything we could to serve this customer. The desired refund of all services proved does not seem called for. In summary, we provided a new well pump, drop pipe, electrical cable, pitless adapter and other fitting. [member name removed] signed accepting the work and made payment. [member name removed] has a very unusual ground water level fluctuation which can cause water to rise over the casing. Once Korte Does It All was made aware of the situation a sealed cap was located and offered to be installed. The customer never contacted us to install this at no charge. Since my A/C unit is 15 years old, the technician MIGHT have tried to convince me that the entire unit needed to be replaced (at a cost of thousands of dollars). But he didn't. He was honest. He showed me the burned-out capacitor, and he checked the rest of the A/C system. I think Korte is probably somewhat more expensive than other HVAC companies, but I've been very happy with them. I appreciate their honesty and professionalism.

They're excellent. We've used them for several years. Their price was certainly reasonable. What stands out is the basic professionalism of the employees and the guys that come here, we always talk the whole time, it's the situation where they know I'm a media person so we talk about media and we find out what's going on with their lives, and that they work on cars in their spare time and some do carpentry work and so forth. You feel like you get to know the people a little bit, it's not just a manner of somebody coming in and going about their business. They're personable and the other thing is, they very much explained to you what they're doing, why they're doing it and that sort of thing. I can also tell you that upon occasion, there had been things that they came up on, they would quote me a price initially and they would come up on something extra that needed to be done, they said they'll just go ahead and do that and don't worry about it. They like to set appointments over a window of time, I don't like to do that so I always schedule them first thing in the morning so they can't say they had another appointment or anything. There was at least one occasion when we did have a first of the morning appointment and they'd show up like an hour and a half or 2 hours later, and they said their manager manager called a meeting and I said well, that's between you and your manager but you and I had an appointment for 7:00 this morning. They know at this point that when we schedule something, I expect them to be here. We had that understanding and it's actually sort of interesting when they put in the water heater, I didn't know at that time but after the heater was installed, they had to have a building inspector from the county come out and make sure their work was good and they said well, on this particular day, building inspector would be here between 8 and noon, and I said no, he'll be here at 8:00 because at 8:30 I am going to leave here. And they said, okay, we'll let them know, and yes they were here before 8:00. They're very cooperative but I think sometimes you have to encourage people a little bit. They know that we're a long time customer and they want to keep it that way. There's a lot of competition in that business in this town a lot. We have a contract for them to keep coming back every 6 months.
Description of Work: Korte Does It All installed a water heater. They put in our air conditioner, they've done our furnace, repaired toilets, anything we need done here, they write a quote on the spot, they're very good, and very professional.

The ceiling light and outlets in my bedroom quit working. When checking my circuit breaker I found it tripped. I reset it and it tripped again. I unplugged everything in the bedroom and went back and reset the circuit breaker, which tripped right back off. When trying to reset it, it sparked. At that point I knew I had to call in an electrician. I checked here on Angie's list for an electrician and upon reading the reviews I called Korte Electric. They were at my house within a couple of hours (on a Saturday). The serviceman found where the short was and fixed the problem quickly. (My outdoor pole light was tied into the circuit in my bedroom and that is where the short was coming from.)

Our home is a year old and we decided to add additional electrical lines and ceiling fans. I asked Korte prior to the service to get me a quote on the work. I also asked an independant electrican to quote the work. I chose Korte because thier price was lower and the had wired the house when it was built. Korte had two elections come and they were done in 1/2 day. We also signed up for thier discount plan saved us $50. The discount plan cost is $185 and includes a furnace check in the fall and AC check in the spring. It alos gives you 10% off for any future work up to $50. We were satified with the work that they did for us and they were very professional.

Korte plumbers Mike & Craig responded quickly to call for repair & then recommended a leak specialist to pinpoint leak instead of them just starting to tear up the floor. That ended up being a great course of action due to location of the leak in a corner of the living room. After the leak was located, repairs were done quickly as Mike & Craig ordered our repairs to be top priority. Then repair cementing of hole in floor was done by them & done so well that carpet repair person did not need to do any further leveling of floor before replacing carpet. The whole process of AWHR finding that there was a leak, Korte coming to diagnose, leak specialist pinpointing leak, Korte repairing leak, & carpet repair took total of 12 days. That was over 2 weekends and everyone had to be scheduled so I am not sure it could have been done any quicker. Most time was spent waiting to get leak specialist scheduled & carpet repair done--because of the weekends.
Description of Work: Had hot water leak under slab in house as detected by AWHR (hot water heater rental). Korte came, recommended leak specialist, and then came to repair leak after it had been pinpointed to corner of living room. Korte drilled hole in cement, found leak & repaired pipe, filled hole w/cement & recommended carpet repair (CR Carpet) to replace carpet.
