Bill arrived exactly on time and began work immediately. We outlined the patio and walkway. Bill was open to a change I made in the patio's original shape. He was very accurate in his measurements and outline. His crew was very professional. They removed the 2 planters and moved them to our burn pile. When they dug up the dirt for the patio, they asked me where to put it, they were thoughtful enough to fill in some uneven ground on my property. I felt they went out of their way to be accommodating to my needs. When Bill discovered the sidewalk that was already in place was uneven and would cause drainage problems to the patio, he had his crew remove it. They were very professional and took pride in their work. They worked quickly and in an efficient manner. I was extremely impressed with the finishing touches they made to our patio. If it is possible to be cement artists, I find Bill and his crew to be such, our patio is beautiful. Bill went the "extra mile" in all his work, from calling me in the morning confirming when they would be there to being open to a change in plans to going out of his way to meet my needs to an exceptional finishing of the patio. I cannot recommend Earth Creations highly enough, they are true professionals who take pride in the excellent job they do.
Description of Work: Bill and his crew removed 2 wooden planters, took out a unlevel sidewalk and installed a cement patio and new walkway. They removed dirt to do the work and put it in an uneven part of our yard. Bill was also open to changing my original plan to make a better looking patio. They worked quickly and professionally and had the work done by the afternoon. Bill and his crew paid close attention to detail and artistry, the patio is beautiful and the work is exceptional.

I know this is from a while back(but we just joined Angie's List), In May of 2006 we had a patio installed in our backyard by this company. One year after installation the stamped patio pattern crumbled off exposing the rock and color. We called the owner when we realized this, he came out and admitted he did not know why it happened but sealed it with sealer and a color powder to disguise the mess and charged me $110 to to it. The cover did not work and more crumbling occurred.. We called several times over a two year period, and the owner would not respond or call back. I would never recommend him,

After searching back 7 years, we were finally able to locate this contract. We found notes of what had happened and we also remembered this situation. The patio had been exposed to salt during the winter which caused it to crumble. We even found some in the general area. It will do this every time. You can not put salt on stamped concrete. We always go over this with every customer. We were not responsible for this. We did return the customers phone calls and did go to their home on a couple of occasions before we finally figured this out. We always return phone calls, even when there is a problem. To say otherwise, is completely untrue. There was nothing we could do to remedy something like this except a total rip out and re pour. If you read other reviews, you'll see that if our workmanship is defective, such as a bad mix of concrete, etc. we will re pour it. It is very rare, but we will take care of our customers.

Bill came and gave us an estimate and a tentative time for the job. He was very punctual, came on the exact day we had agreed upon and did the job in one day and a half. WE had some issues with the color since it rained very soon after the job was finished: they came back a week later and refinished the patio, no problem Only two things wee not excellent 1 : when the estimate was done the measurement taken were smaller that what we had requested (there was snow on the ground and it was not easy to use the tape measure). WE asked for the cost of the final job and In more than one occasion we were told that a few feet would not make a difference and the price would not change. The day of the job it turned out that the price had to change by about 10% after all. Again we were ready to pay more, we just would have preferred to be told upfront (we figured that 10% increase in the area we needed paved could not go unnoticed). 2 Our lawn was well protected with plywood, but the plywood did not reach the actual limit of the patio, so we had a coupleof yards that had tire marks form the truck. Also some finish coat was dropped in a round area outside the patio and we have had a round bald spot in our lawn for a while (we are starting to see some grass now after multiple reseedings)

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. I had checked Angie's list for reviews early this winter and they were all positive and some neighbors had used the contractor and were satisfied so we felt comfortable going with Bill and Earth Creations. The main problem we have is the complete lack of professionalism once the job was completed. The patio and concrete work they performed are fine. The patio ended up being about a foot thick because of the slope of our yard. We had some issues with the sealant that they came to address. Many people have complemented us on the patio but dealing with Bill has been a nightmare. We should have known to not use a patio contractor to alter our existing deck and we have learned that lesson. They replaced the stairs on our deck twice and both times they were not up to code. Bill left the stairs with different heights and tilted towards the patio the first day and had the nerve to ask for a check. When we told him about the issues with the stairs, Bill insisted they were fine until I texted him a photo. He came out the next day to rip out those stairs and try with another set of stairs they removed from the original deck. These stairs again were not at the same height and they were barely attached to the main portion of the deck. We have since had these stairs replaced by a deck contractor that did a fabulous job fixing the mistakes that were made. So we've learned our lesson but what is really disturbing is the reaction that Bill has had to our complaints about the stairs. We were always at fault, we were being difficult customers and had a horrible attitude. As someone who is providing a service to others, Bill failed miserably in customer service. I know that he will have many things to say to respond to this review as he has already told me he has spoken to my neighbors about us. What kind of professional does that? It's truly amazing he has had any repeat customers. Overall, if you want a rude, careless, unprofessional contractor working at your home, this would be your man. Update 5/22/13: It is clear from the response from earth creations that this issue will not be resolved. I would note that the company had a similar response to another dispute. It really shows a company's character how they respond when things go wrong. Instead of working to have a satisfied customer, they responded with condescension, rudeness and unprofessional behavior. After the company left the stairs completely unsafe, we were in a panic because Bill attempted to justify the installation and say that nothing was wrong with the stairs. Once he received a picture of the stairs and I basically broke down crying on the phone, he agreed to fix the stairs. I took another day off of work to be home. I never thanked Bill for fixing the stairs because I was still concerned about their safety. They had to move 4 posts to resize the deck and none of the posts are straight. When I pointed this out to Bill, all he said was "oh" and "posts warp." Given that the posts were not warped before they moved them, I suspect it was their improper installation that led to the problem. But again, we are wrong and unreasonable to ask that the job be done properly. After my daughter and neighbors tripped on the uneven height of the "repaired" stairs, we contacted another contractor to replace the stairs. Earth Creations clearly was not going to "make it right." Bill decided to cut corners and force the old staircase into a place where it could never fit. Those stairs were made to reach the ground and now there was a 12 inch patio at the base. The new contractor had to custom cut the risers to account for the height difference. The assertion that a parade of neighbors came to warn Bill about us is simply ridiculous. The contractors were at our house from 8:30 until 4 and I was with them until 11:30 the first day and the entire time they were there the second day. Most of our neighborhood works and beyond that, we have had no issues with any of them and consider many of the families to be close friends. I don't know what they are trying to accomplish with this false statement but it does go to show how unprofessional they act. As far as the worm on the patio, after the patio was sealed it rained and the sealer appeared to have bubbles in it. I contacted Bill to see if this is a problem and he offered to come out to reseal. The technician didn't take 5 minutes to brush off the patio and sealed in wood chips and several worms. It just goes to show their careless and disregard for customer satisfaction. This situation is clearly he-said she-said. Other customers can make up their own mind about this company. My only warning is that other customers have to hope that nothing goes wrong on their job because rather than working with the customer to ensure its corrected, the customer will be accused of being difficult and unreasonable. After looking at Earth Creation's response, we were certainly not trying to "scam" the company nor try to get them to discount their work. We paid them to change our deck and since we had to hire another contractor to fix the stairs because they were unsafe and not up to current building code, we simply asked for a refund for the amount we paid them to alter the deck. They responded with the rudest, most unprofessional email I've ever received. Earth Creations continues to be unreasonable, unprofessional and untrue in their accounting of the events. Customer beware.
Description of Work: We hired Earth Creations to place a textured concrete patio on the back of our house. When we consulted with Bill, we mentioned that we wanted to alter our existing deck which he offered to do for a small fee. We later added a border at the edge of the patio as well as edging around the patio creating a new planting bed.

Response from Earth Creations Inc
This was one of worst and strangest experiences we have ever had with a customer. At least they admit that all of the concrete work we completed at their home was perfectly fine, because it is. We have done work for eight homeowners in this edition and not had one single problem until this customer. We also have never said one single word about this customer to any of their neighbors. However, it was their neighbors that had much to say about this customer to us before we completed their job. As a business we would never discriminate, so we agreed to do their job. Upon agreeing to do their job, a stamped patio and edging, we also agreed to move a portion of their deck for them and to remove and discard another portion. It was not a big deal, as our crew members do custom home framing and decking in our off season. This was a simple task. We moved almost the whole deck in just a few sections. Afterwards, they mentioned the stairs were assembled some what crooked. We went out the next day to correct it. They said that it was fine and thanked us, but then asked us for us to deduct $350 because they were inconvenienced for ONE night with this. They were not even supposed to be on the patio anyways for 24-48 hours, so we did not understand. When Bill stated that he would not do this because he didn't feel that was fair, the customer started into extremely rude behavior with us. We barely even charged enough to cover our labor and dump fees. We did this as a favor to save the customer from having to hire another contractor which they stated they could not afford. After this confrontation, they begin calling our office out to their home on numerous occasions. One occasion even being that there was a dead worm on the patio. Yes, we went out to scrape off a dead worm! We felt like they were almost trying to make us pay because we didn't discount their job. Even though they admitted that there was no issues anymore. By the way, we didn't have them pay at this time. They actually mailed in a check a week after the job was completed. We always came out to correct any issues they had within a 24 hour time period in which they would allow us to step foot on their property. They treated us horribly, and spoke to us in the most rude manner we have ever witnessed. We never said anything to them about it, we just allowed it without any words back. Being that prompt and considerate to a customer is about the most professional you can get. They wrote this review the day that we told them we were finished. Over a month later than the job was completed, they stated they still wanted their money back, now because their steps were at different heights. That is exactly how the steps were installed from the original builder. We moved them in ONE whole piece. This had nothing to do with us. If they wanted us to make new steps, they should've stated it and we would've charged for that from the start. It would've been no problem. We treated this customer as well as any that we have ever had, even though they were the most rude and unbearable we have ever came across. We honestly feel that they were trying to scam our company, and when we didn't comply, they became furious that they did not get by with it this time.

The owner, Bill H., is very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. Bill was very friendly, informative, and easy to work with throughout the entire process. It was a lot of work to be done and it turned out amazing. There was no mess left around, no blemishes or cracks, not one single issue I can speak of. From start to finish everything went perfectly along with the flow of communication. I could not have asked for a better experience. I have had this done now for several years and it has held up perfectly - still no cracks or chips of any-kind and it has been well used. I have continued to use Bill to come back and re-seal & color the additions as needed. He has dome some work for my neighbors too on their concrete curbing that looks amazing. I will personally never use another concrete company - Bill and Earth Creations are mastery in their skill/craft and know how to run the business providing and excellent experience to compliment the excellent craftsmanship.
Description of Work: Ripped out old sidewalk, removed tree, installed new decorative stamped concrete sidewalk. Added on to the driveway an entire 3rd for additional parking that went all the way past the garage to the side of the home. It to was matching decorative concrete - very beautiful.

Based on the high marks from Angie's List we were not as vigilant as we should have been. We would have been better served to get everything in writing and not pay until we were fully satisfied. We believed the EC claim of always wanting to satisfy their customers, sadly that was not true in our case. -EC arrived and got equipment stuck in our yard. That can happen but they said they would patch it, yet months later we still have the ruts. -We raised issues as they were finishing with the color applications and followed up later with phone calls and emails, expressing our willingness to accept part of the responsibility for miscommunications and to pay for fixing it or starting over. EC reply was defensive and they refused to even come back to check what we were talking about. Unfortunately we had already paid in full, based on their promise of customer satisfaction so apart from going to small claims court we have no alternative -Requested bids from other contractors on what it would take to fix or do the work over. Without our soliciting comments they have made these observations: 1) concrete was worked when it was too wet, causing sunken joint lines and very irregular surfaces in some places 2) antique color was not washed off enough, leading to the gray splotches and overall dull gray look with no tan color coming through from the base concrete 3) in multiple places the joint lines are "squeezed", causing a ridge in the joint, which is usually fixed on the spot easily or can be repaired afterwards but nothing was done in our case 4) sealer was applied too thick or too early so moisture was trapped underneath causing the sealer to whiten and peel 5) concrete was splashed on the side of the house, with EC claiming that was for me to cleanup and there is nothing they can do to prevent it, whereas other contractors said there are methods of spraying the surfaces near the concrete with soap and then masking -EC trampled flowers in our flower bed and we picked up dozens of nails and pieces of concrete after they left -We allowed them to dispose of the small pieces of broken flagstone in the woods and showed them how to spread them out along the ground, instead they left them in piles that we had to spread out afterwards In summary the work was not done with care. EC did not live up to their customer satisfaction claim. Our front entry is now dull gray with splotches of red and peeling sealer, not what we wanted at all and EC has no interest in our satisfaction, nor in accepting any responsibility. We informed EC that we felt compelled to eventually post a review on Angie's List, giving them adequate time to work with us to make things right and turn around the situation and avoid a bad review. EC refused. If you work with EC be careful. Get it all in writing, request samples that represent the final work and do not make the final payment until you are satisfied. Specify that you expect all cleanup to be done by EC, including concrete splashes on your house. Do not be fooled by the congenial customer service claims. Talk is cheap, as they say. We believed it and it cost us thousands of dollars. Update April 13 after reading EC response: We would rather move on from this but the contractor reply has too many false assertions to ignore. Instead of replying to every single one, below is a summary, with his words and then our reply in capital letters. ----- The customer definitely has some issues that deserved to be taken care of, and they already have been. AT LEAST HE ADMITS THERE ARE ISSUES, BUT HE NEVER CAME BACK TO TAKE CARE OF ANYTHING. ----- Why would it be Earth Creations? fault when that is what the member had us do. WE NEVER HAD HIM SPREAD THE COLOR AROUND IN SPLOTCHES, THIS WAS AN ENTIRE MISCOUMMUNICATION. ---- The first picture where it looks gray is right after we sealed the patio which explains why it appears to look gray. Concrete does need time to cure to show the true color. ALL PICTURES WERE TAKEN FEB 2013, FOUR MONTHS AFTER COMPLETION AND AS OF APRIL 2013 THE GRAY REMAINS DOMINANT. ---- Yes, there was a squeezed joint, as shown in the picture. We did come out to fix that with a simple grinding, those can be removed. THIS IS ABSURD, HE NEVER CAME BACK, NEVER GROUND ANYTHING. HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THE PHOTOGRAPH AS EVIDENCE? THE SQUEEZE JOINTS ARE STILL THERE TODAY. ---- The picture with the dark spot could've been anything spilled on there. Who knows what it is. It is not all over, therefore not something involved with the pour. I COUNTED AT LEAST 40 OF OF THESE SPOTS. THEY ARE ALL OVER AND WE DID NOT CREATE THEM. IF HE HAD COME BACK AS WE ASKED MULTIPLE TIMES HE WOULD SEE WITH HIS OWN EYES. ---- Sealer was not applied to thick or early. Usually it gets that white haze when it gets wet too early. Maybe from the homeowner out watering flowers or spraying it off before it is fully cured? We did go out and fix that, not shown in a picture though. SORRY, TRY ANOTHER BAD EXCUSE. THERE ARE NO FLOWERS TO WATER IN THE WINTER AND WE DID NOT WASH OFF THE CONCRETE TOO EARLY. THIS PROBLEM AROSE WEEKS LATER. HOW CAN HE ABSURDLY CLAIM THAT HE FIXED IT WHEN IT IS STILL LIKE THAT. SORRY TO REPEAT BUT HE NEVER CAME BACK TO FIX ANYTHING. ---- We did not stamp concrete too early. THIS STATEMENT, AS WELL AS OTHERS ABOUT HIS WORK ARE CONTRARY TO WHAT TWO INDEDPENT CONTRACTORS TOLD ME WHEN THEY EXAMINED HIS WORK. THEY ARE EXPERTS IN HIS PROFESSION, SEE THE REVIEW ABOVE FOR OTHER COMMENTS THEY MADE. ---- When we were cleaning up the husband approached us and told us to just dump some of the excess concrete in a dip in his woods that he was trying to fill in. We did that exactly where he told us to, and he was even with us the whole time. THERE WAS NO DIP IN THE WOODS I WAS TRYING TO FILL IN. I WAS SPREADING IT OUT AND ONE OF HIS WORKERS SAID HE COULD SPREAD IT OUT. I WAS THERE ONCE IN THE BEGINNING, NOT THE WHOLE TIME. ---- We are sorry to have this kind of confrontation with this member, but really feel that there is nothing more we could've done to make them happy when you consider the main problem being the color THE MAIN PROBLEM IS HE DID NOT COME BACK TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES. THIS WHOLE REVIEW COULD HAVE LIKELY BEEN AVOIDED IF HE HAD RETURNED TO EXAMINE HIS WORK, INSTEAD OF NOW MAKING EXCUSES OR MAKING CLAIMS THAT HE FIXED SOMETHING ALREADY WHEN HE DID NOT.

We are very sorry that this situation has presented itself, but very glad that Angie's List allows both parties to state their sides. The customer definitely has some issues that deserved to be taken care of, and they already have been. We will discuss every issue in the order it was mentioned. Some of these pictures are old, and therefore are not fair in regards to the completed work. - Yes, we did get stuck in the yard. The driveway was wet that day and not real sturdy. We did fill in the spots that were messed up and we graded them out. The husband said that it looked great and thanked us. -There is a definite color issue as you can see in the pictures with the red splotches. The member states it is only partly their fault? Why would it be Earth Creations’ fault when that is what the member had us do. The wife was unhappy with the color choice before even giving it a chance to cure out and let the true color come out, a light brown. She wanted red re-antiqued over every single stone, which is not how it is typically done. This is the reason it looks terrible, it is not randomly applied everywhere, which is how it should be. It is over kill. The first picture where it looks gray is right after we sealed the patio which explains why it appears to look gray. Concrete does need time to cure to show the true color. -Antique was sprayed off enough, but as mentioned earlier the member requested more to be added to every single stone. -Yes, there was a squeezed joint, as shown in the picture. We did come out to fix that with a simple grinding, those can be removed. It is normal to have one here or there, and they are an easy fix. Also, notice in this picture, the color of the patio had already changed over a bit to a light brown, not gray. This picture was taken later. The picture with the dark spot could've been anything spilled on there. Who knows what it is. It is not all over, therefore not something involved with the pour. Something has been spilled on it? - All concrete will have uneven surfaces as shown in one picture. This is how all concrete will look. This is the beauty of concrete and completely normal. Only something such as a tile will be a smooth surface all over. - Sealer was not applied to thick or early. Usually it gets that white haze when it gets wet too early. Maybe from the homeowner out watering flowers or spraying it off before it is fully cured? We did go out and fix that, not shown in a picture though. - We did not stamp concrete too early. We do hundreds of jobs a year for reputable builders and homeowners, and do know the proper timing. All stamped concrete will have slight indentations and textures due to stamp mats being placed on slightly wet concrete to create an impression. Totally normal. -We did notify the husband that sometimes a small bit of concrete will get on the home. Even if you tape it off, this can still happen when things are wet and being worked around it can slip off. We asked the husband if he wanted to remove that trim until after job was complete. Husband stated no, and said he would just touch it up with paint later if necessary. -We never trampled any of the homeowners flowers. In fact, we moved them at the wife's request exactly where we were instructed to do so. She even thanked us afterwards for handling them so carefully. -When we were cleaning up the husband approached us and told us to just dump some of the excess concrete in a dip in his woods that he was trying to fill in. We did that exactly where he told us to, and he was even with us the whole time. We feel like the bottom line is that the issues were exaggerated due to the fact that the customer is just not happy with how their color came out. It was their choice, and they did go to our supplier to look at many samples to make their final decision. We cannot tear out and re-pour jobs at our own expense even partially when someone doesn't pick the right color. No company can do that, as it would be way too costly. The customer paid when the job was complete and stated that they were happy. We corrected any problems they had afterwards. The main problem here is the color that they chose, and that we cannot correct. It's up to the member to pick the appropriate color for their home. We are sorry to have this kind of confrontation with this member, but really feel that there is nothing more we could've done to make them happy when you consider the main problem being the color Sent from Earth Creations Inc.

Earth Creations came out gave me a great estimate and when I decided to go with them they were able to schedule me quickly. They arrived on time and were able to create the mold, pour the concrete, and do the design in less than one day. They came out the next day to put a sealer on the concrete. They did an amazing job and it looks great.

The experience was excellent (except for the delay) Earth Creations showed up on time to give a quote. They were professional and thoroughly explained the aspects of the quote. They designed a unique pad and helped with color selection. We made our decision and they scheduled us in a timely manner. They over scheduled their team which delayed our installation. They leveled the ground and poured the concrete. The team stamped and colored the pad. the next day they sealed it. The pad that was installed by Earth Creations is stunning. They completed the work in a very short time. They were pleasant and cleaned as they went. We constantly receive comments on this section of our yard.

It was very smooth from beginning to end. They were very efficient in their work and respectful of our flowerbeds, lawn, etc. We received regular updates throughout the 3 days they worked on our driveway which was very reassuring. We are extremely pleased.
Description of Work: Earth Creations originally did the path from our driveway to the front door. The work was beautiful, they were on schedule and the cost was very reasonable. We were so impressed that we asked for a quote to replace our asphalt driveway with stamped concrete. The quote was great and we opted to replace the driveway with them this fall instead of waiting until Spring. The driveway has a beautiful Heavy Stone pattern with a release color that makes it truly look like it's stone and not concrete. We had gotten a quote from another stamped concrete company but Earth Creations was much more reasonable, more professional, they actually listened to what we wanted instead of telling us what we should do and they worked with our schedule.

We were a amazed at the color selection and different patterns they offered. They colored the cement, they used their spreader to make the ribbon of cement, then they put the design into the edging. They then dust it with a second color to accent the stone pattern. They put a sealer on the cement to seal it from the weather. (The edging needs to be sealed every two years.) Bill and his crew worked hard and finished in 1/2 day. They cleaned up and even took the cut sod away. We had a very good experience.
Description of Work: We wanted an edging around our shrub and flower beds. I was tired of always digging grass out of the beds. It also gives a good definition between the grass and the bedding and keeps the mulch in the beds.

It went very well. The owner was very responsive to my initial contact. He was willing to work with me, in figuring out exactly what I wanted to do while staying in my price range. They were punctual when doing the work.

We hired Earth Creations to create a shaped stamped concrete patio in our back yard. They suggested a deck builder for the project, which we also used. The deck was done first, and all in one day, which was great. Earth Creations came in a few weeks later and spend two days pouring, stamping and glossing the concrete. The guys showed up on time, worked quickly and the patio looks great.

Ben arrived at my home on May 31, 2012. I had already interviewed two other companies from Angie's List. Ben's presentation, and willingness to go the extra mile, made my selection of Earth Creations an easy one and one that I am glad I made. My only reason for giving them a B on responsiveness is that I was promised an earlier date, but received a call that they were running two weeks behind on their work. That is understandable given the weather. So we established another date. I contacted my electrician and scheduled him for the 26th. I contacted Rosie's, from whom I had purchased a fountain, and scheduled them for July 27th (review of Rosie's is pending). The day before the patio was to be poured, Ben called and stated that they were running a day behind. I informed Ben that I had the other work and installations scheduled based on the new dates. He stated that they could do the work in one day and come out early, the day after the pour, to seal it. I agreed. Then, he called me right back to let me know that what they were waiting on was the grape stamps, which he had ordered weeks ago and which had not arrived. He said there is no reason they couldn't come out on the agreed upon date and do all the prep work. I was very happy! It is a good thing they did because the 2nd day was not just a simple sealing of the concrete patio. The head of the crew came out on the second day and did the additional colors, plus meticulously spent hours hand-painting the grapes and grape leaves. It is a work of art!! So, again, while I would hire them back in a heart beat, the scheduling was a bit dicey and caused me some mild anxiety. As I said, the work is pure perfection! The other companies might be good, but I cannot imagine any company topping Earth Creations. They even took some of the sod they removed and put it in a bare spot in my yard. They cleaned up the entire area. They ran conduit so that my electrician will be able to run lines for the fountain. THIS IS A TOP DRAWER COMPANY!!!!
Description of Work: Created a poured concrete patio and a separate 5' diameter base for a fountain. The stamped patio consisted of three colors that included a decorative border of grapes that they hand-painted in a beautiful purple and green. It is different from any other patio I've seen. It is better than I imagined!

We had several companies come out and give us quotes on a large concrete job. We chose this company based on pricing and when then could do the job. The only disappointment we had was when we were promised an earlier date than we ended up getting. We almost cancelled the job with them...SO GLAD we didn't! They came out and helped to dig up the rest of our decking a day earlier than promised for the 2nd date we were given. The team of guys were so professional and friendly. They walked us thru the project and we ended up adding more work than originally planned. We were provided a great price. I cannot say enough about the quality of the work and the professionalism of the guys. I HIGHLY recommend them! In fact we are going to use them again to work on our driveway and possibly our garage. Our home looks so much better thanks to all the work they did.
Description of Work: We had a front porch added...a double sidewalk area in the front...a patio in the front...a sidewalk around the side of the home and the back of the home and a large patio outback. We had it stamped and colored a two tone grey...gorgeous!

Set a date and time to meet to go over what was needed for them to create a quote. Received a call 30 minutes prior to meeting time, after already scheduling the time off work, asking to meet at least an hour later. Will not be using this company for any services. First impressions go a long way.

Response from Earth Creations Inc
Due to heavy traffic, or prior appointments with any other customer we can run behind 30 min to an hour. If we will be behind, we always try to give the customer as much notice as possible. We were only going to be 30 min. behind for this estimate, and we did give a 1 hour notice. This is not unreasonable for most contractors or even doctors office appointments. Considering the fact that we never even met with this customer, I believe it is pretty harsh to be so judgmental of our company. It is our policy to treat our customers to the best of our ability.

Bill Higgins and his crew did an excellent job!. Very, very easy to work with. Bill responded promptly to every phone call. The whole crew was very professional. We are very pleased with the finished product and would highly recommend them to anyone who would like to have this type of work done.
Description of Work: Removed and hauled away old flagstone patio. Ran gas line for fire pit. Poured concrete and stamped with field stone pattern. Colored concrete and sealed. Built fire pit out of stone. Installed gas ring and lava rock for fire pit. Built "benches" out of stone. Poured toppers for benches and fire pit out of concrete. Offered good ideas about where to extend poured concrete to make our patio function better.

First of all, never have your only walk-through with the provider when there is snow on the ground. Enough said there. Due to our early Spring, EC was able to come out a month early to begin my job. They called on a Wednesday and began work the next morning. Two subcontractors arrived as I was leaving. I asked them to remove the existing landscape trim rocks as they worked, and directed them where I wanted them placed. They agreed. The poured concrete area was to come up to the existing landscape beds, of which there were 6. To my surprise, at the job's completion, there were only 4. EC chose to connect some beds into a continuous one, incorporating grassy areas into the beds. In addition, they did not pout the concrete right up to the beds. Instead they expanded the bed size, once again incorporating grass into the beds. This means that I will need to spend considerable time to remove/kill grass in the beds before I can plant this Spring. This is time I had not planned on. In addition, all landscape trim rocks were dumped in a perennial bed, not elsewhere as agreed. I spoke with the job manager that evening about what my expectations were versus what had been done. He explained that his vision was that merging beds together and changing their dimensions should make it easier for me to mow. The lesson here: have VERY SPECIFIC discussions before any work begins. He did say he would have the subs move the rocks to the agreed upon spot on Friday, and also break up the grass now part of the beds. This did happen. They returned Friday to do trim and Saturday to seal. They asked me to leave a check for full payment when I left for work Friday. My assumption was that they would clean up after themselves when they were complete on Saturday. This didn't entirely happen. I found large chunks of dried concrete slurry strewn around the yard when I mowed, and an excess of it inside the landscape beds. The patio and trim are beautiful. They are as advertised and absolutely as nice as pictures I was shown in advance. The way the work was done and the communication while the job was being done need improvement.
Description of Work: Remove old paver patio and path, along with edge/trim stones, and re-grade area. Pour concrete in patio and path area, stamp, stain and seal. Add poured concrete edging to look like trim stones. Seal all concrete. The goal of the project: eliminate the need to fight weeds growing between pavers, have a more gentle slope to the patio, and an overall better look.

Response from Earth Creations Inc
We understand these grades are not too bad, but we would like to respond to the comments made, and the fact that the customer wouldn't hire us again. It is surprising. First of all, our crew members are employees not subs. The customer knew what time we were to arrive and was supposed to be there to meet with the crew to spray off the lines where the edging would be placed. The customer was in a hurry that morning so she insisted that the crew layout everything on their own because the beds were pretty self explanatory. They were also already layed out on the contract the way we poured it as one continual pour in some of the bed areas. We do take a sod cut around the areas where edging is to be placed. It is a 12 in. cut and she knew that it would widen the beds slightly, it is explained on every estimate. The customer did call and spoke with Bill that night at 7:30 p.m. EC said that we would move the rocks to the spot she wanted and we did so, it was a miscommunication. EC also offered to redo the edging just as she wanted it, BUT she said after she had thought about it, she liked it the way we did it. This made it easier for her to trim. As far as the excess in the beds, the machine spits out a slight bit on the back of the eding which must stay for strength and durability, we never remove it. As far as excess in the yard, it was never brought up or we would've took care of it. The grass in the yard was very long, so that may have made it harder for the crew to see while cleaning up. We did what we were asked to do, even took a customer call at 7:30 p.m. and offered to care of any issues. We just don't understand the comments made or why the customer wouldn't have us back to their home when they even said the job was beautiful, just as much so as the pictures we show on our estimates. We do certainly apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused, but we really feel we did try to do everything we could to make this customer happy.

Bill came out in June to give us an estimate for removing our old conrete slab and pouring a new patio. Earth Creations has a lot of different colors and textures to choose from. The company is very busy, so I recommend if you are interested in creating a new patio, to call early in the season before they get too busy. We were put on the schedule for August. The work turned out beautiful. We were also interested in a pergola, and Bill recommended someone who was willing to work with Earth Creations' schedule so that we could get the pergola installed before the patio was poured. The price was great and we were able to purcase a much larger, decorative patio. We love the patio and would highly recommend Earth Creations.

I thought as a whole the experience was very good. The patio looks great and pricing was terrific. Bill provided a no pressure estimated. It was about $800 less than my other estimate. It was obvious that Bill got my vision. I would say the only downfall was Bill gives a range on when the patio will be installed. I did have trouble getting a hold of him at one point in time. There was also a clerical issue but the lady who made the error was sincerely sorry and appologetic for this issue and corrected everything right away. The only issue with the patio is the border has visible brushmarks. To me it was rushed a bit. Everything else looks fantastic and blends well with our home. My wife and I are very happy with the project overall.

I found them on Angie?s List. We haven?t yet got the work done. Their quote was about $2800 or $2900. I only received two quotes and they had the best price. They were the most affordable and they certainly seemed to have a large portfolio of decorative concrete patios that they have done before. They were also highly rated on Angie?s List. They were easy going and there was no pressure for sales. They gave a written estimate on the spot based on the square footage that we were looking at and the type of materials that would be used. They were professional and had materials there that I could take with me. I didn?t have to go online and find anything. They were easy to work with and gave a quick estimate as well. We are probably going to go with them for our patio. We are open to get one more quote, but they are our guys at this point. We hope that the process is good once they get out there and start doing the work. They were spot on in what I wanted to do.
