Rick Remaly Painting

I received 4 text messages from them. They told me to check the message center on Angie's List for scheduling, but there was a never message from them. They only texted me instead of calling me. Due to trouble getting the deal scheduled, I chose to have it refunded instead. Due to the delay in their scheduling, it delayed me being able to hire someone else to do the work which was very inconvenient for me.

We hired Rick Remaly Painting to paint the upper level and one down stairs bed room of our home. This includes a front door, 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, a living room and kitchen.He was specifically told NO FLAT PAINT. His response to this was, "I know Benjamin Moore has a washable flat that has a sheen to it and doesn't leave marks." To which re reply- "As long as it isn't flat that's fine." The whole house was painted in flat the ceiling painted with Sherman Willaims paint. Contract states BM to be used. On 11/29/14 Rick and his crew started the work on our home. There was no one living in the home and we were told it would take 4 days to complete. As of 2/9/15 the job is still not complete. We have had many issues with Rick Remaly Painting. Some of the issues: The window trim and base: through out the upper level is all brand new primed trim and base ready for paint. Rick and his crew failed to properly fill in the nail holes. Some of the areas he did they filled in the holes then painted. While others he just put a heavy coat of paint over the holes leaving very noticible paint divets where the nails are. In the bathroom he used a roll that left the paint rough and bumpy. In other areas he sprayed the paint onto the trim and base in some spots so heavily that paint runs can be seen from across the room on white paint. Rick did manage to attempt to touch up one spot with wood filler. I know this because he painted right over it with out sanding leaving the trim looking chipped or broken. These issues were discussed with Rick but were left unfixed. The doors and windows: Same issues as above. Rick was to paint the doors and windows in the upper level as well as one bedroom down stairs. Little to no sanding was done on the windows. Heavy paint was sprayed onto the windows causing runs of paints on several of the window surfaces. These runs can also be found on the French Doors. We pointed these issues out to Rick during a walk through but like the trim issues they went unfixed. The walls: bathroom walls have large runs on them. This same wall also has what appears to be fibers from the rollers that were used. This is the room Rick and his crew used a roller to paint the trim. There are 2 spots of differant colors blue paint on the same wall which I have no idea what or how it happened but it looks horrible. The trim in this room's nail holes were simply painted over with little or no fill that I can see and large number of nail divets can easily be seen on the trim. Some of the paint around the ceiling is thin and you can see the old wall color. In other spots its fair away from the ceiling line so it These issues were brought to Rick's attention yet went unfixed. The Railing: Rick and his crew we to stain a newly installed railing. After one coat of stain was applied the color was uneven and very blotchy in apperance. The underside of the railing lacked color and several spots had no stain at all. There was also over spray on the stained base below the railing. We brought this to Rick's attention and like ALL the other issues Rick said he would make it right. Rick then added more stain and several coats of lacquer to the railing and base. Rick never bothered to remove the over spray from the base and it can be seen under the several layers of lacquer. The railing now shins like a bar top. The color through out the railing is blotchy and not uniform at all. Some spots still lacked stain and lacquer was apllied over it. The railing has dark black spots and several spots of dried drips hang from the lower edge. The railing that was going to be a beautiful addition to out home is now shiny like a bar top with spots of color missing as well as dark pools of color and drips. Rick was made aware of these issue and he refused to fix them. The ceiling: Rick and his crew attempted to patch up some of the ceiling issues. Rick patched some areas and instead of feathering it out and sanding he just sanded it. leaving the repair area sticking out like a sore thumb. Other than the railing this is the worst area of his entire job. Rick and his crew: There was to be no smoking in the home at all. Rick and his crew were aware of this prior to the beginning of accepting this job. During a walk through I found a half smoked Marlboro cigarette sitting on top of my daughter stuffed bear. I brought this to Ricks attention and he denied it. Until I mentioned it was a half smoked Marlboro then Rick knew who it was and that I did indeed find one. Cigarette butts in the yard are one thing. But on top of my duaghter stuufed teddy bear is plain gross. Rick and his crew also left 2 of the 3 doors in the home unlocked after leaving for the night after a days work. I brought this to Rick attention and he said it wouldnt happen again. It did happen again and Ricks reply to it being unlocked was "those doors are hard to lock". So instead of Rick checking to make sure the doors were locked he left them unlocked for anyone to enter my home at anytime. Taking whatever they'd like. Rick put my faimly in danger and his reply was "they're hard to lock". Rick and his crew deserves lower than an F. There will be costly repairs to fix the issues he has left. Rick said the job is complete and he isnt sure why we're having issues with the work. I did not have unreal expectation of Rick and his crew. I wanted a professional paint job in my home. I will be looking into adding some pictures to this review. If your in my area feel free to contact Angies list and come review the work for yourself and you be the judge. I have graded Rick Remaly painting fair and accurate. I have pages of text messages to support my grade. I also have to live with the finish product until I can get it fixed.

It was pretty good. We had some issues with scheduling but we solved it because it looks like he was very busy at that time but he accommodated us and came on a Saturday morning because my wife and I works full time. He was able to come on a Saturday and everything worked out fine. What I like is that he was very professional. He made sure that everything was covered and they didn’t leave any dirt behind. They made sure that they didn’t spill anything and they were very courteous. He did a very good job.

Repaired holes in drywall, very professional and polite.

We're very happy with Rick's work! Although Rick had to reschedule our original date, he communicated very well throughout the entire process and the painting was completed to our satisfaction. We're looking forward to having Rick and his team back to do more painting for us soon.

There were going to be extra costs.

I purchased 3 hours of dry wall repairs for $129.00 and communicated with Rick via the Angie's List messaging. Rick worked with me to schedule the time that was convenient for both of us to get this repair completed. Rick and Bob came on time as per the schedule. I requested that they cut the drywall outside due to my son's allergies and they complied. The work was completed without any mess. Rick and Bob worked well as a team and kept the entire area very clean with no need for cleanup afterwards. It took them a little extra time to complete the repairs but they did not charge anything over the $129.00 that I had prepaid. I would hire them again if I have a drywall repair needs.

VERY well. We are very happy with their work. Owner was on job entire time. Very helpful. Vey clean during job, took special care with everything. Cleanup when job was done was excellent.

Rick and his worker arrived ahead of schedule and got right to work. I had already cleared both bathroom and they laid paper down to protect my floors both in and out of the bathroom. They were very pleasant and considerate. Rick was even whistling and singing while working on a Saturday! The final product looks beautiful. It is hard to find someone who can plaster and plaster well and Rick is the person for the job! I would definitely use Rick for any future plaster work and painting. I asked for several of his business cards so I can pass them along to friends and neighbors. I feel he was reasonably priced (I did use an Angie's List special offer) and does quality work. They cleaned up the work areas which included wiping down the dust from the walls, tub and floors which is something I anticipated I would have to do. Rick is very busy but still offers specials on Angie's List and gives his customers the time and courtesy they deserve. Thank you Angie's List and thank you Rick!

Rick and his team arrived and got straight to work. They are very professional and didn't give me too hard a time for my horrible attempt to DIY some of the original patchwork and even gave me some tips. He was very efficient and did much more work than I expected in a short period of time. He was even able to do other repairs that I thought he wouldn't have time to complete, leaving everything looking seamless, as if I had never touched it. They also left my home free of dust and debris, which is more than I can same for some work I had done previously by another vendor. I highly recommend Rick and his team!

Short answer: my downstairs looks like an entirely different house. It's beautiful. I used Rick to do some drywall/plaster patchwork for a Deal I had purchased in the summer, so I thought of him first when it was time to paint the first floor open living area (kitchen/living room/dining/foyer and adjacent hallway). The night before the painting, I took down some pictures and shelving that I wanted to relocate after the painting was complete. Beneath were lots and lots of holes. Let's just say that I didn't know when I moved in that I had plaster (we only had drywall in the past) and many of my wall hangings and shelves took numerous tries. There was a lot of patchwork to be done. My perfect gray paint had also been discontinued, requiring a match. The match looked beautiful, but the paint I chose required additional coats. Despite all of that, he was able to get the additional patchwork and much of the painting done the first day and came back a second day (without charging me extra) to finish up. He even alerted me to a broken outlet that we had ignored thinking it was fine. It was not. So glad he let us know so we could have it replaced! The house looks beautiful. Rick and Bob finished the work and left behind no dust, debris, or little paint drizzles. We will definitely be using them again. Next time, no DIY patchwork and I'll let him pick the paint!

Steve and Ron of Remaly Painting did a great job! I have more painting that needs to be done so I will be using them again in the near future.

Everything went fine. Contractor and his helper arrived on time. They were pleasant and personable. He explained all aspects of what he was prepared to do. Photos were taken at my request. Receipt, photos and explanation of services were provided by email.

This company gave me 12/17/14 (8am) for the original service date through Angie's List .com. I took a day off work to welcome the painters and show them the job. I also purchased $300 in paint. They never arrived to do the job! At 6:30am on the day of service this company was emailing me for confirmation which I had presumed was already established. I emailed them back within that hour but to no avail. There was no response! I continued to email this company several more times to make them aware that I was still waiting and expecting them to arrive as previously scheduled. There was no response until the next day which is when this company refused to accept the job! I will never recommend or attempt to use Rick Remaly Painting Services again! sincerely, Mike S.

Went great!! Arrived on time. Painting job was beyond professional. Everything is perfect- can't find anything to criticize. Cleaned up completely (using their own vacuum!). And super nice guys to top it off.

I could tell Rick was incredibly busy, but he went above and beyond trying to help my client feel comfortable with the process of painting her cabinets. In fact, after she and I chose the colors, she was so comfortable that she had Rick paint not only the outside of her cabinets but the inside as well. He also was fantastic about getting it done before her daughter's baby shower, despite his busy schedule. He and his crew worked long hours, well into the night to have it ready for her party.

Because I had to list my house for sale at a time when Rick was unavailable for weeks out, I requested a refund. Rick's communication was great, and was very quick to respond to all of my attempts to reach him. I would certainly use him if I were staying in the area.

Rick and his crew showed up on the date promised, worked very quickly and very thoroughly, and completed a big job in record time. They fixed a stress crack in the ceiling, filled and/or patched countless nail holes, and patched two holes in paneling where sconces had been removed. They even added painting of an additional hallway after starting the job. Rick and his staff were personable and kind throughout the process. We would highly recommend this company.

Good work efficient, friendly and professional. Definitely will use again for future services. Rick and Bob have our confidence in the service they provide.

Great! Picked up paint, furnished all needed supplies, fantastic cleanup! They were in and out within a few hours. Will definitely use again - actually referred to condo association for future use if needed,

After running into some problems and deciding to cancel this Big Deal Rick was still understanding and nice about the situation.

Rick was very accommodating on scheduling. All done on time and as represented.

The painters did a very nice job. They did repair some of the cracks and holes in the walls. They missed 2 small nail holes. They cleaned up very well and my husband said they were very pleasant to work with. I think they did a nice job overall. I would say to use Rick Remaly painting if you do not work or are home every day. He scheduled the first time and emailed me that morning that he wouldn't be coming. The second time he scheduled he didn't show and didn't email me till 2 days later. If you have to take time off of work to be home when they arrive, this may not be the painter for you.

The job went well. The painters showed up right on time. They asked exactly what I wanted done. They were pleasant and friendly and didn't even mind the dogs not being locked in the kitchen (they stayed out of the painted areas on their own). When they were finished Steve walked me through the rooms, showed me what was done. They cleaned up, actually leaving the wood floor cleaner than it was because of the dogs. They were professional and pleasant and I would definitely hire Rick Remaly Painting again as well as refer them to family and friends, which I have :) Job well done!!!

He said he would be here between 8 and 9 am today and we were home until 11am and no one showed up.
