The original contact was positive. There was no charge for measuring and the salesperson assisted us in choosing an appropriate carpet to be installed by McCool's. After the carpet was laid, we visually checked the "job" and noticed carpet fibers everywhere. We contacted McCool's and were told there was a sweeper problem. After most fibers were later removed, we noticed seams that were unacceptable. These were eventually re-worked, although one is still more noticeable than I would like. We also discovered marring of the paint on the walls in one bedroom (this room is painted in a darker color) and grout missing between two marble tiles that abutted the carpet. McCool's agent led me to believe the marks are common and she took no responsibility for the missing grout. The installation problems were troubling, more disturbing was the fact that the company did not notify us about the problems (i.e., we had to discover them ourselves, which necessitated many phone calls). Most disturbing was McCool's failure to take responsibility for the damages. Bottom line: We paid a premium price for, at best an average product.

They were fabulous. They did a price quote and the actual price came in right on the money. The workers were prompt, they cleaned up and they were professional.

It went very well. The price was right and it was a good quality product. Their installers showed up on time, worked quickly, were clean, polite, and professional.

They did the usual fine job. We had to move some of the furniture ourselves to make it a little easier for him to do his work. He finished in a couple of hours and the job was done well.

Service was good in the store from Doug. Had some quality year end deals on both the carpet and laminate. Visited the house/basement for measurement etc. Installation completed 10 days later after the laminate floor. Looks great, work was done tidily and professionally. We're pleased with the work.

Sean was the sales rep that I dealt with. Very helpful in determining the type of floor that would be good for me. It was economical but still up to date.

They didn't have anything, but did refer me to another company which I appreciated.

Salesman Bob Owczazck was a pleasure to deal with when I purchased flooring. He was very knowledgeable about the product, helpful in giving details about installation (even though a private contractor had been hired). In addition, Bob assured me he could be contacted for any questions or concerns at the time of installation. When I did call him several weeks after the purchase, he remembered me. I had checked McCool's on Angie's List and knew the installers seemed to be "iffy" (that's why I hired elsewhere). However, had Bob been doing the installation or even overseeing it I wouldn't have had any concerns about the quality of the work that would be done. Bob's sales style is very nice, not pushy, answers questions but also answers what you haven't thought to ask. The flooring arrived sooner than expected, too. Bob was great; recommend him highly.

Found them very responsive. Didn't waste anytime and finished up. Were very professional. Would definitely do business with again.

There were no problems. The overall quality was good, but nothing outstanding. The price was reasonable. One thing that I was impressed with was the fact that the salesman in their showroom actually pointed us towards a LESS expensive option. The installers arrived on time and were courteous. They did warn us that there would be some scuff marks on our paint, though there were a few more than I had expected.

We had good service from their sales manager. We brought samples home for appearance trials. The installer was on time and did a meticulous job. Our only complaint was a minor thing that they have not followed up.

We provided measurements and got a rough estimate of cost for installation of hardwood flooring. We went with a slightly lower cost company for the install.

McCools (Carmel store) had previously carpeted one room for us, and we were very pleased. We thought the price was a bit high, but weren't members of Angie's List at the time to compare. To carpet a second room we chose a large home improvement chain. The carpet they laid seems fine, but the savings were negligible and the service was terrible. The stress wasn't worth it. This time we went straight back to McCools (2 stores now, same measuring & installation crews). They know carpets, give excellent service, work within your time frame, answer all questions, and back up their work. The installation team is unfailingly courteous, to us and to each other (no swear words or raunchy jokes). We recommend McCools 100%.

I think they were very good. The quality is very good and did a good job installing. They were also very helpful in choosing the right carpet.

The sale was pleasant and smooth, the people in the store were nice to work with. The installers were courteous and professional - except for one thing. The installers didn't have a vacuum cleaner. On the first day of installation, they used our vacuum cleaner. On the second day, they claimed that they don't like to use customers' vacuum cleaners. Then I found out why. They had clogged up my vacuum cleaner completely. But they left without vacuuming the second day's carpeting. I had to spend over two hours vacuuming up all the fuzz from the carpet after repairing my vacuum cleaner. Also, I had to vacuum the stairs, and there was so much fuzz that the stair attachment to my vacuum broke. I asked for $100 in compensation - less than a 5% discount off the price I paid, and they flatly refused to offer me any discount. They claimed that vacuuming the carpet is NOT part of installing it. Unbelievable! I would never even so much as look at samples from McCool's again.

The sales associate was very nice and knowledgeable at the Carmel Drive location. Helped me in selecting a good color and carpet selection. They did a wonderful job meeting the carpet up to all of my tile flooring and I can't even tell where any of the seems are. I am very happy with the quality of the carpet and how well the installation went.

Terry was the best! She offered so much assistance when needed that I can't thank her enough for everything. We frequently visited the store prior to installation to coordinate all the work and materials and to obtain samples to coordinate other work being done at our home. She answered all my many,many questions without hesitation. And there were many!!

OVERALL, WE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE. AVN (RECOMMENDED BY MCCOOLS) INSTALLED THE FLOOR, AND THE SEAMS DIDN'T MATCH, SO THEY CAME BACK OUT TO LAY NEW PIECE IN HALL AND PART OF BATH. THE SEAMS ARE VERY VISIBLE, AND WE ARE NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT. ALSO, TWO WEEKS AFTER THE REINSTALLATION, WE FOUND A GOUGE IN KITCHEN FLOOR. WE HAD PURCHASED THE BEST "CONGOLEUM EXCLUSIVE" SO THIS WAS GOOD VINYL. WE JUST HAVE TWO PEOPLE LIVING IN HOME AND ARE VERY CAREFUL, SO WE DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO GOUGE THE FLOOR. WE BELIEVE THAT EITHER IT CAME WITH THE DEFECT THAT WE DID NOT NOTICE AT FIRST, OR IT WAS DONE DURING INSTALLATION. WE REPORTED TO DOUG MCCOOL AND ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS SEAL THE GOUGE, BUT YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO SEE IT. WE SPENT ALMOST $3000 TOTAL FOR MATERIAL AND INSTALLATION, AND FEEL THAT WE SHOULD HAVE A FLOOR WITHOUT DEFECTS. WE ARE VERY DISSATISFIED AND WILL NOT BUY FROM THEM AGAIN.

THE CARPET LOOKS WONDERFUL AND THEY GAVE ME A GREAT GUARANTEE. THEY ARE VERY BUSINESS LIKE. I NEED MORE CARPETING FOR OTHER ROOMS AND IF THEY HAVE WHAT I WANT I WILL GET IT FROM THEM. THEY PUT EVERYTHING BACK JUST RIGHT. THEIR MEN WERE VERY NICE, CLEAN, AND FAST.

DID A NICE JOB. SHOWED UP ON TIME FOR BOTH ESTIMATE AND INSTALLATION. PRICE WAS FAIR AND WORK WAS DONE WELL. LOST THE KEY TO MY HOUSE, HOWEVER.

THIS IS MY THIRD FLOORING PURCHASE FROM MCCOOL'S. FOUR YEARS AGO I HAD THEM CARPET STAIRS, AN UPSTAIRS HALLWAY, AND 4 BEDROOMS. SINCE THEN WE MOVED TO A NEW HOME 1 1/2 YRS AGO AND USED THEM TO RECARPET FINISHED BASEMENT. BECAUSE MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN SO WONDERFUL WITH MCCOOL'S, I PURCHASED CARPET AND TILE AGAIN FROM THEM. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN FLOORING INSTALLERS AND AS USUAL, THEY DID FANTASTIC WORK. I WILL NOT USE ANYONE ELSE.
