A nightmare from beginning to end. Our initial meeting was promising - lots of promises. The contract ended up being all about the fine print and write-ins. The inference of what was said, or not said, and what was on paper were two different things. After that point, our communications were very unpleasant. My good furniture, many antiques, were crated as promised, but most arrived damaged at the other end.
Description of Work: Let me be clear that the Wheaton Movers we used were Gold Movers out of Valhalla. This is a big company and I can not speak beyond our experience with Gold Movers. Gold Movers packed up my house, stored my belongings for 4 months and delivered them to another location in the same town.

The driver was on time (early) for both the pick up and drop off. They were efficient and quick. They were also fairly friendly. My only complaint was on the back end when one of the movers dropped a box marked fragile, right in front of me, but pretended as though nothing was wrong.
Description of Work: We used this company for a cross state move. They only had to load and unload (we had already packed). They did also help with disassembly of beds and assembly once on the other end.

This was our 4th move since we were married 48 years ago. Most people don't move very often and it had been 38 years since our last move but this one went much better than any of the others. Wheaton went way beyond what we had expected. The first 2 contracts we had on the sale of our house fell through, and we had to change our move date twice, once with just 24 hours notice. Wheaton took it all in stride, rescheduling us as if we had given them 2 weeks notice! Great company, and everything turned out just fine. We are very happy with Wheaton and with Rick.
Description of Work: We packed the small stuff, but we weren't finished when they got to our old house, so they all pitched in an did a remarkable job! We had them pack the large pieces (flat screen TV's, dressers, chests, mirrors, tool chests etc.) and EVERYTHING was wrapped in moving blankets; the driver, Rick, had 500 moving blankets in the van! When we arrived at our new home in NC, Rick had hired 4 local moving professionals to help unpack. Nothing was damaged or broken.

I absolutely cannot recommend this moving company. They understaff their moves (they had only two men on a move for a move into a 1,500 sq ft townhouse move). And their staff is not professional. One of the movers tried to quickly move the headboard from my antique bed upstairs before I could notice that one of the bed posts had completely broken off. When I saw and pointed it out, they were completely unapologetic and acted like I was acting unreasonable. Then one of the movers damaged my antique love seat by carrying by himself upstairs. Multiple joints were separated on the wood frame. And this is after having spent $1,500 to have it reupholstered and refinished. After the movers left, I found that they'd also broken the foot off of my cedar chest. But they hid this damage by balancing the chest on top of the broken foot. I understand that items can get damaged in a cross-country move, but at least have some decent customer service skills and apologize for damaging people's personal property. When I mentioned what had happened to some friends of mine, they said they'd also used Wheaton and had also had furniture broken and damaged by them. A few weeks after the move, we received a letter asking if we had the mirror box for another family that had shared the same moving truck. Hopefully they received their items back. My advice is to disregard the bogus Good Housekeeping seal of approval and do not use this moving company. You will not have professional movers moving your furniture.

We only had a driver helping us, and he moved some things into our storage unit for us. He did not utilized the space very well, and kind of just threw everything in there. I will have to take the time and hire more people to help me clean it up and better organize it. He was however on time in terms of delivery, and picked up when he was supposed to.

The person who gave us an estimate walked around the house and looking at furniture seemed to know what things weighed. They were okay, but we thought the quote was pretty high. Furthermore, they didn't give an itemized list of the furniture, so I will call them and make sure they do that.

Used a local agent in Round Rock. Texas ( Willis - Permian). Movers were incompetent and did not wrap what was left for them properly. Complained about their employer the entire time. In excess of 12 hours for a 1800 sq foot house. When all was to be delivered they tacked on almost 2000.00 more than estimate. Many lost items and damaged furniture. Everyone in the entire Wheaton corporation lied and was unaccommodating. Very Stressful move, mostly due to Wheaton - Bekins. Mr John Willis of Willis Permian ( Round Rock) rude, arrogant and condescending.

Wheaton's agent All Brunswick Van Lines, in Dayton, NJ, were referred to us through the Weichert Gold Services program--Weichert was the listing agent on our condo. Steve Morgen, owner of All Brunswick, orchestrated a multi-state move for us, consolidating furniture and other household goods from both our condo in NJ and our home in Raleigh-Durham, NC to our new home in the Charleston, SC area. This involved difficult logistics, including two separate move-in dates, and the dropping off of furniture in NC on the way down to SC, as well as multiple stops in SC. The Wheaton agent in both Raleigh and Charleston is Mathers Brothers- very high caliber agents. All crews at each of the multi-state sites (whether move-out or move-in) were excellent and very professional. Pricing was competitive. We highly recommend Wheaton.

First of all, they were days late on the last scheduled delivery date as quoted to me. This necessitated my having to change airplane reservations at the last minute which cost me $700. Then when the truck finally arrived in Houston, the local movers that were to assist the driver in moving the furniture in did not show up.. This meant that the driver, who was wonderful (the only wonderful thing about the move) had to move all the belogings himself on a very hot and muggy day. This caused the move to last over 7 hours. This compaes to approximately 2 hours it took to move the things out of my previous house. Also, the lack of communication from Wheaton was exasperating.

The packers that showed up did not pack all that was supposed to be packed and then they took advantage of my 85 year old, recently widowed, grandmother on the walk through. But the biggest problem was the and quot;leadand quot; guy, Bob, on the moving crew. I have never in my life seen anyone be so incredibly nasty, rude and down right mean to a paying customer. It was an attitude from him from the minute he walked in and saw what the packers had not done. The entire day all we heard from him were things like and quot;I dont need the s@#$and quot;, and quot;who do they think they f@#$^and ^ areand quot; (not sure who he was talking about on that one), and quot;im just getting the f@#$% out of here and taking the truckand quot;. This guy was unbelievable. It was like the fact that he was the only one allowed to drive the truck gave him a rush of power and that was all we heard about all day, how he was just going to leave and take the truck with him. To anyone looking for a moving company, PLEASE look elsewhere. The rudeness of this guy made a very hard day many many times worse than it needed to be. The boss at the company headquarters was contacted (not sure if he is owner or not) but nothing was really done. There was a small discount given and an apology, but it definitely did not make up for having this fool yelling at my elderly, recently windowed, grandmother when she asked him if there was room on the truck for a lamp!!! Just a lamp and that idiot totally went off on her. This day was very hard for my grandmother, and all this horrible company did was make it that much harder. If this is the kind of people that are employed here, I have SERIOUS doubts about how they run all of this business. It was the most HORRIBLE experience moving I have ever been involved in!!!Shameful really!!! Look to other companies for your moving needs!

This company packed up our belongings to ship cross country on Monday and Tuesday July 28th and 29th. We called them months in advance and scheduled them to move our belongings from Manhattan NY to Los Angeles CA and they said the window they would get it delivered to us by is August 5th through August 11th. The company made it seem like they would start moving our things across the country the day after they had it all packed up. We called them on July 30th after everything was packed to find out the status of the delivery date and about the driver who would be moving our things so we could contact him throughout the trip. They did not give us a ship date when we called on July 30th. They just made it seem like it would start being shipped right away. When we called on July 31st they then told us the date it would start moving would be August 4th. We were kind of shocked that they didn’t have a driver yet for this because we had scheduled this months in advance but we just let it be and trusted that it would be to us by the window they originally told us. We then called on August 4th to see what the status of the shipment was and the weight of the shipment because that is how they do their pricing. We were told that the woman who was in charge of our case was not in the building and no one knew what was going on with our stuff. So we were told to call back tomorrow morning August 5th. We called back on the morning of the 5th to find out our things are still sitting in New York and haven’t even started the move. Now they are saying that our belongings will not even start moving until August 8th and will be delivered on August 15th. We are unsure if that will even happen now. They had never even called us to keep us updated on the status of our move or to tell us they would not have the shipment here by the original date. If I had not called them yesterday I would not even know that it was still sitting in New York. We are nervous now because this company has misled us and lied about the procedure of how this all was going to go and where our things are.

Their estimate was a little bit higher and was $9158. He was just estimating the weight higher than the others so perhaps that is why his estimate was higher. He was estimating about 1000 pounds more than the others. He was very professional. I wouldn’t have gone with him just because it was a high estimate.

We coordinated two long distance moves with Wheaton. Part of our things were moved to our primary home and the rest are in their storage facility until our second home is completed. They provided a detailed explanation of the process, accurate estimates, flexibility to allow us to pack items and them to complete anything remaining. Everyone we dealt with was professional and friendly. They followed through on commitments. They use a detailed inventory tag system for all items, furniture and boxes. They successfully moved our belongings without losing or damaging anything. We are very pleased with the level of service and highly recommend Wheaton All Brunswick to anyone contemplating a move.

They seemed to pack everything fine. They wrapped up all of our furniture and we were happy with that. The original arrangement was for them to pack on the 17th and load it on the truck on the 18th. There was miscommunication so they packed and loaded the truck on the same day which lead to a 14 hour day. Two of the movers left during the day so my husband ended up helping. We haven't yet moved in to the new house so we don't know the condition of our belongings.

Mathis Movers gave us an estimate and gave us a great team of movers to assist our main driver Santos. All of our precious antique furniture and other goods were handled professionally and delivered the same way. I realize each move is depended on the crew that puts everything together and for this we had a great team on both sides of shipping. The key man in this was our driver Santos, who personally supervised and packed the van. He deserves the most credit.
Description of Work: I contracted Mathis Moving Company in Newark, Oh which is an affiliate of Bekins/Wheaton to move us from Oh to TX. We had a great experience with this company and highly recommend them for long distance moving.

The movers were right on time and quickly started cataloging every thing. Wrapping furniture in moving blankets and Saran. I had most things already boxed but they did my paintings, lamps and some art pieces, some of my pieces are very old and they were very careful and wrapped them with extra care. My only complaint is that they took longer than I thought they should. They came I the morning at 9:00 am and didn't leave until 11:00 pm., My furniture will be delivered in 3 weeks and we will have to wait and see how long it takes them to deliver.

We had a 3 bedroom / 2 bath house and sold most of our furniture. We came with our dining room table, 6 chairs, a recliner, sofa, coffee table, end table, two armoires, king size bed / mattress, two night stands, a desk and office chair. We had 286 items packed onto the truck, including the furniture, boxes, and various other items. We were originally quoted $1,700 for the packing and it wound up costing us $2,610, as the person conducting the estimate did not include packing all our paintings, mirrors, pictures, or wardrobes for our clothes. It was supposed to be around $7,000 for weight / distance and wound up costing us $8,910. Besides the difference in the pricing estimate, I would highly recommend this company for the promptness and professionalism of their workers. I would say to make sure that everything you are taking is included on the estimate worksheet, and be honest about exactly what you are taking. Our packers made sure everything was packed safely and everything arrived with no breaking, knicks, or anything that you would normally expect from another company. All of the boxes were labeled, which made it easy to find what we needed to get started in our new home. Our driver / mover, Bill, called us multiple times to ensure the correct addresses and arranged times that would suit us. He wrote down everything that was packed onto the van with a sticky numbering system, which ensured that all of our items arrived. The gentlemen hired to help Bill with loading and unloading the trucks were absolutely fantastic. Again, I would highly recommend this company.
