The packing was sloppy and incomplete. Many items were damaged and/or broken. The Wheaton national company called on our moving day to find out how it was going. I called them back twice to request packers and supplies and they never returned my phone call. The movers helped us to figure out what still needed packing (lamps, garage items) and my husband and I worked hard to finish the job (and also purchased more packing material) so that things that were not packed yet would not be damaged. The movers were actually from Bekins and were lovely. The helpers on both ends were hard working as well. They even moved some furniture when I decided I wanted it in a different place. Really nice guys. About 2 weeks after we settled in and got unpacked, I contacted John from Hi-Tec movers and told him about my experience with the packers. I requested a partial refund for our expense for packing supplies and our efforts on moving day. After emailing back and forth, it was clear that John did not know that the national company calls clients on the day of the move, and he did not know that they do not return these phone calls. He told me that I should have called them (the local company) rather than leaving messages at the main company's office. He did admit that it was unreasonable to expect a client to make several phone calls to get help however, he would not offer to reimburse us for our time or expense because we did not call his office to complain on the day of the move. He called my experience an "unfortunate chain of events." Summary My Bekins movers were wonderful- although two things were lost. My Bekins and Wheaton furniture lifters were wonderful My Wheaton packers were terrible- incomplete and poor care for our things (and also didn't know what to pack and not to- one admitted that he packed up some matches...) Customer Service- inconsistent, poor communication- especially between local and national office. We are in the process of submitting a claim- I'll write more when I figure out how that goes.
Description of Work: We hired Wheaton (now merged with Bekins) to do a move from Denver (Hi-Tec movers) to South Lake Tahoe CA. We hired them for all services including packers, and purchased their insurance plan as our (excellent) homeowners insurance did not cover damage to items during a move.

Dear Member, thank you very much for your feedback! I am sorry to hear your move from CO to CA was not completed to your full satisfaction. I have reviewed your charges to ensure you were not charged for materials you had to purchase yourself, and found that we only charged for the packing the crew actually completed prior to the movers arriving. I am glad to hear that those movers and their helpers were so nice and accommodating after you had difficulty with the packing itself not being completed as you expected. In addition, I want to extend my sincere apologies that you had such a lack of response not only at a local level, but also at our corporate level. My name is Tabitha Lowery, Corporate Move Manager. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if you would like to discuss this further. I can be reached via phone 317-558-0279 or email tabitha_lowery@wvlcorp.com. Thank you and have a great day!

We started the process with a company called Olympic Movers in Federal Way, WA. The reason we selected this company over the competition was the personality and knowledge of the sales person who came to our house to give us an estimate. They were neither the least expensive nor the most expensive of the proposals we received. The plan was to have the company handle packing, transport, unpacking, and debris removal so we didn't have to deal with a house full of boxes on the other end. The logistics of the situation were to be a crew in to pack on Thursday, and a truck & crew in on Friday to load up and haul away. The crew showed up on Thursday 1-1/2 hours later than scheduled. They kind of jumped around in the house, rather than starting and finishing each room before moving on to the next. The missed several things in the upstairs bathrooms (items which were not prohibited), which we did not discover until after they were gone. At 4:30, they decided to stop work, and indicated that they would be back in the morning to finish packing. On Friday, the crew showed up with the truck (1-1/2 hours late as well), but the packers from Thursday were not with them. We asked the loading crew about completion of the packing, and they told us that it should have been completed on Thursday by the other crew. After a walk-through of the house, the loading crew foreman was upset at the amount of packing left to do, and had a heated conversation with someone on the phone regarding the previous day's efforts. The foreman assured us that the truck would be loaded and gone that day as promised, and he and his crew got to work finishing the packing. Unfortunately, due to the late start and the unexpected additional work, the crew was at our house until after 9:00 PM. The loading of the truck started off very well organized, getting everything in proper safe secure positions. However, as the hours wore on, I noticed that many items were just being thrown in and stacked on top of one another in precarious positions. It was clear that these guys just wanted to get the stuff in the truck and get out of there. A week later, a Wheaton truck showed up on front of our new house and a crew emerged ready to off-load. The driver and crew foreman started telling me about what a horrible packing job had been done and that he basically had to unload and reload the trailer himself when he received it. The off-load crew got to work moving items into the house, and staging them room by room as instructed by us. Once the truck was off-loaded, we started going through the paperwork and I inquired about the unpacking and debris removal that we were expecting to take place. "We don't really do that, and you don't really want us to do that. You're better off unpacking and putting everything away yourself." That was the response I got. Also, they were supposed to assemble the furniture that had been disassembled on the other end, but they couldn't find all of the fasteners to do so. We have a very large and very heavy Dining Room Table, which they never did assemble due to the missing fasteners. So now the offload crew departed, and we were left with a house full of boxes, and some unassembled furniture. I contacted our Wheaton representative, and she said that her records did show that we paid for unpacking and debris removal, and she would resolve the issue. Well we got a call from the local Wheaton contractor, but they couldn't schedule a crew for unpacking for several days. So, we ended up having to unpack most of our stuff ourselves. By the time the unpacking crew showed up, there wasn't much left to unpack, but at least they hauled away all of the boxes and packing material. Oh, and guess what...even the unpacking crew was unable to find the fasteners for the Dining Room table. What I wasn't aware of was that the offload crew was only able to find fasteners for one of the wood beds we had (we have two), so rather than tell us that, they just put half of the fasteners in one bed, and the other half in the other bed (only using one fastener per joint when there should be two). The way we found that out was when we sat on the bed, the boards split and broke apart because of the missing fasteners (awesome). So I had to go buy fasteners for the beds (and repair the wood with screws and glue) and buy fasteners for the Dining Room table, and assemble it all myself. I was in communication with our Wheaton representative via email, and she kept assuring me that they were working to resolve the issues, but they never did. The last communication I had with them was a few weeks ago, and I'm sure they've forgotten about us by now. I did eventually find the Dining Room table fasteners in a plastic tote filled with plumbing supplies (after I bought more). There was never any mention by Wheaton of issuing us any sort of refund for our trouble. Needless to say, I'll not be using them (or any of their agents) again in the future.

Dear Member, thank you very much for your feedback! I am sorry to hear your move from WA to CO was not completed to your satisfaction. I have reviewed your move based on the feedback you provided, and was able to have a refund of $134.55 sent back to your credit card for the difference in what we actually unpacked and what was charged based on a full unpack. I am very disappointed that your delivery did not go smoothly and you had to reassemble your furniture yourself, but I noticed you mentioned damages that occurred to your bed and other items. I do not see that a claim was submitted for those damages and would be glad to send out a claim form for your use. Please contact me directly if you wish to discuss your move in more detail. I would appreciate the opportunity to resolve any other outstanding issues. My name is Tabitha Lowery, Corporate Move Manager. Since I never even received a call from Wheaton, I did receive two calls from other national comapnies. In the end I decided to rent a 26 foot truck from the Penske iffces in Garden City Georgia. I packed and moved my self. If you are moving and have a large family use another srvice. Wheaton is not worth your time or money.
Description of Work: I requested a quote from Wheaton prior to moving back to Louisiana from Savannah Georgia. Since I read some positive postings about Wheaton I thought that I would give them an opportunity to provide service. Since it was after business hours I spoke to a central call center.I was told that I would receive a call from the local Savannah office the next day. Well the next day came and went. I did call back to speak with the Regional Manager, Eric, since he offered his assistance. He at least answers all of the customer surveys. I called his office and he answered. I explained to Eric that I can appreciate his concern for customer service nad that I have been in the hospitality service for 10 years, he let out a WHEW!!! on the phone. He tehn went on to try and cut our conversation short. Next he took my number and told me that the local Savannah office would call me. Well I never heard agin form Whaeton or the local company who goes by another name. The cusotmer service is terrible. Prior to my move I did happer to see a Wheaton moving truck in Savannah. they probably specialize in local moving. This truck was old and trust me, I would and did not even call them again.

It was terrible!! The driver and his assistant took more than 36 hours to load our 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath townhouse. They hired local (VT) crew. One of the guys only lasted about 2 hours before he left. The remaining 3 worked about 13-14 hours and then left. This loading process took about 12 hours more than had been estimated. There were several items damaged. Wheaton has denied our claim for damages and this has been going on for weeks/months. Overall, their claims process and adjusters have absolutely no idea what they are doing and are completely unprofessional! I would not recommend Wheaton to anyone, based on our experience!!

I was told my furniture would be loaded on the same truck that would drive it across the country and would not be put in storage (unless a truck breakdown). My belongings were loaded on a small truck and taken directly to storage.Pick up did not occur on the scheduled day. I was told my truck would be weighted and I would be notified of weight before my belongings left my city. I was not notified until after my card was charged for 4600lbs vs the expected 3100lbs. I added two items (a dinning room table a mirror with foam frame) so my initial estimate was void.My heavy dressers where slid down my wooden stairs on their sides, bumping every stair as they went. When contacting customer service for an expected delivery date I was repeatedly told they could not reach my driver.I was told Wheaton would handle 100% of my move. Two days before my 10 day delivery window was up, I was contacted by a company I had never heard of letting my know they had my things and would be delivering in 2 daysI was told they HAD to deliver within my window or they would compensate me. They delviered one day afer my window with no compensation.I went to the trouble to label every box with the room it belonged in. The movers dumped every box, upside down in the middle of my living room. I was told the movers would disassemble and reassemble my furniture. Disasemble yes. Reassemble NO. I was told "Sorry Ma'am, we don't do that. My boxes came in upside down, ripped open, had puncture holes, totally smashed or all of the above. One box was ripped open and the contents were unaccounted for. My couch was ripped. When I pointed it out to the mover he pulled out the paper work I signed at pick up and pointed to a slew of abbreviations next to my couch and said 'it says here your couch was marred, stained, stretched, ripped, soiled, faded and frayed at pick up." My couch was in perfect condition, less than one year old. I was not told at the time of pickup the movers were doing an assessment of my couch nor was I asked to verify their findings. My dresser had two holes in the top of it. My Ikea room divider had two holes in it because they stacked all the pieces together and the wooden pegs punctured the top.In one box, every single item was smashed in to a hundred pieces. It had fragile in red marker on all sidesThey forgot part of my bed then proceeded to argue who was responsible. This was my experience after much research and picking what looked to be the best company. Hate to see what would have happened had I used someone else.

Wheaton Van Lines was one of the companies suggested to us for moving. When calling them without giving my name or number, my call was dropped. Within minutes Kathy (from the sales department, ext. 417) called me back asking if she could assist me in anything! Wow!! What other company does that?!!! Amazed, I went on to explain that we had an awful experience with a move just 2 years earlier and that I was not going to repeat that! I told her I had gotten their number from Angie's LIst and that I would be writing a review...good or bad. We received nothing but the very best treatment ever! She took all the necessary info, said she would contact a company in LA and get a representative out quickly to give us an estimate. Kathy was true to her word!! The first company she provided me with didn't work out, but when I called her back she got to work right away and found us the perfect company!

Relocation from Indianapolis to Iowa City, Iowa; friends and family had all told me their horror stories about their inter-state moves so although I have used moving companies for moves within the city, I was concerned about the out-of-state move. My new employer provided me with a list of three moving companies with whom they had established contracts for relocation, however when I conducted research (not using Angie's List) on the three companies, none had favorable reviews, so I contacted the "best of the worst", but never received a response. I then decided to check Angie's List for moving companies, and identified three companies that indicated that they do nationwide moves. One company confirmed that they provide nationwide moving services, but stated that they do not go to Iowa (the last time I checked, Iowa was still in the nation!); the other companytold me that they could provide an estimate over the phone without seeing my home. Wheaton however, responded right away and the service throughout the entire process was top-notch! Shellie Law, Director of Sales arranged a time/date to come to my home to conduct a walk-through in order to provide an estimate of service; Shellie was extremely thorough and asked questions about items that I had not considered. Shellie also explained the process from start to finish in terms of what I could expect., but there was no high-pressure sales, it was clear that Wheaton was all about customer service. Once I received authorization from my new employer to use a company that was not one of their preferred providers, I confirmed with Shellie. I was assigned a Move Coordinator, Britany Felix, who kept me apprised throughout the entire process, called to let me know about delivery and then checked in after the move to make sure everything was satisfactory. While Britany was my Move Coordinator, I also knew that I could contact Shellie at any time, and when I did she always got back to me in a timely fashion. Wheaton was also extremely accommodating; first, when I purchased furniture after I had my walk-through, Wheaton agreed to pick up my items from the furniture store the day that my move was to occur; and secondly, when I learned that the condo into which I was moving in Iowa would not be ready as originally scheduled, Wheaton readlily agreed to re-schedule my move dates without penalty. The personnel who came to do the move, were professional and on time, as a matter of fact, I went out to get breakfast for the moving crew and as I was returning to my house, received a call from Britany telling me that the crew had arrived early, and they were waiting for me at my home! The delivery process and unpacking in Iowa went just as smoothly, with everything accounted for and only one "casualty" - one of the caps came off from one of my dining room chairs which I can replace for pennies. I cannot say enough positives about Wheaton, they were wonderful; I have raved to my family and friends about the company and have strongly urged my new employer to establish a relationship with Wheaton so that they will be listed as a preferred moving company in the future. Thank you to Shellie, Britany and the moving crew at Wheaton; moving can be stressful, but everyone at Wheaton with whom I had contact helped to make my move as stress-free as possible. I will definitely use them in the future!!

The packers arrived Thursday morning, just about on time. The proceeded to pack up 52 boxes. We paid for 87 boxes, including two flat screen TV cartons at just under $160 each. Only one flat screen TV carton was provided, and they put a 55" TV in a carton that clearly said for TVs under 50". The 46" TV was wrapped with paper, and packed by wrapping a couple cut-up boxes around it. The van arrived to load up on time also. Loading appeared to mostly go okay, though I cringed when they managed to bang a dresser against the garage door, and then quickly looked around to see if I had seen it. We had originally requested delivery on Tuesday the 31st, as we had planned to close on the 30th. As it turned out, we ended up closing early. The driver told me delivery would be towards the end of the week (the 3rd or 4th of August), as the 1st was his daughter's birthday. He did call about half an hour after leaving to ask if we would be available for delivery on Sunday the 29th (which, since we closed early, we could do). Unloading went much faster than loading, and most items were put where I wanted them. Just about everything arrived in working order (one lamp was broken during loading, luckily it was one I didn't care about). However, upon closer examination after the truck left, most of the furniture and other big items (tool boxes, etc.) have scratches and/or wear/rub marks on them. On the order for service I did indicate that I wanted to know the weight of the load. When I asked the driver, he said "it's out in the truck somewhere". I never did find out the weight. So while I'm happy everything arrived working, and quickly, I wish it had arrived unmarked too. Pricewise, I think the estimate was fair as far as the estimate goes. But I feel like we should have gotten money back on the packing, since I paid for a lot of boxes that weren't used or delivered. I also suspect the final weight was much lower than the estimate, since we sold a number of large items that were included in the estimate, and moved quite a bit ourselves on trips over to see progress on the house. (I marked the price as "B" because I think it was a fair price for what was seen during the estimate). After contact with David Allen, I've raised my overall rating to a C. Apparently the weight, even after all the stuff I sold and moved myself, was still well over the estimate (two of the other estimates I got were higher, one was even lower). Wheaton is taking care of the discrepancy between the actual and estimated packing costs by sending me a refund check.

They were A+ from start to finish. Both Britney and then Sherry, the estimator, anticipated problems and were prompt in answering questions completely. The move was extremely efficient. They arrived when they promised to pick up the items, they packed them efficiently, and delivered it when promised, to the exact minute. Nothing was damaged or lost.

I had used Wheaton a few years earlier for the move from Seattle to Maryland and was even more pleased this time. They came promptly for an estimate which was very close to the final bill. They arrived on time to pack. Loading was delayed from Saturday to Monday by mechanical difficulties. The delivery was as stated and the goods arrived in good shape. Todd, the driver who delivered our furniture, was courteous, efficient, and extremely professional. I hope to never move again, but if I do I will certainly use Wheaton.

I could not have possibly been more dissatisfied with a moving company when my wife & I relocated from Tennessee to Indiana. I paid extra for some basic items to be dropped off at an apartment I would be living in temporarily (the bulk of our items went into storage for a few months). The guy who dropped off the stuff at the apartment was in a hurry. He was rude and nearly threw my items off of his truck. On the truck they weren't even secured and were just strewn about in the back when he showed up with all of the boxes have some level of damage. When we were finally ready to have our household goods delivered to our house the extent of the incompetence and utter lack of consideration for our home and our possessions was fully recognized. The guys were putting our furniture onto two-wheelers with no padding or protection from the metal bottom which left marks on virtually everything. They were taking no care when unloading items from the truck just shoving things aside and tossing them off the truck to one another. I had a large fastener organizer full of drawers that contained screws, washers, bolts, nails, etc. It had been wrapped in plastic to keep the drawers in, but when they unloaded it I saw they were holding it upside down. Hundreds of small pieces spilled out into my driveway which the Wheaton employees found to be very funny! At one point a mover came to get me and showed me that they had ruined an end table by breaking the top off of it where it connected to the side. He laughed and said, "Make sure you turn that in and get you a new one!" When moving some heavy items into the office they scratched our recently refinished 45-year-old original hardwood floors. They offered no apology and simply told me to note that with my other damage claims. In an effort to protect some of our more fragile items as well as save some money my wife and I packed quite a few boxes ourselves prior to the movers coming. They were all VERY clearly marked with "this side up", and if applicable, "fragile". If I didn't know any better I would think the guys unloading intentionally set those boxes in the house upside down because virtually all of them were left that way. Additionally, at least half of the Wheaton boxes were placed in my home upside down. When we started to unpack the boxes things only got worse. We tried to stay out of the way when the movers were packing our goods in Tennessee, but I wish I would have paid more attention. They just shoved items into boxes with no rhyme or reason. Some boxes would have single, small, non-fragile items and TONS of paper while others would have so many items shoved into them there wasn't even room for packing material. One particular box even had some decorations and a clay pot in it with no paper to separate items or protect anything - with no surprise the clay pot had broken into several pieces. My wife had an artificial flower arrangement that had literally been shoved into a Wheaton box, upside down, completely destroying it. When we got it out of the box it was in pieces. Similar scenarios played out time & time again while we were unpacking. I could go on and on about damaged goods, but I'll spare you. I had several items missing, including two expensive sets of impact sockets. Wheatons response was as such, ?According to our records, everything we received for shipment was accounted for at delivery and signed for as being received. There was no notation that anything was believed to be missing and there is nothing in our file confirming any loss. We have no basis on which to assume liability for any loss and this portion of your claim must be denied.? So, what they?re saying is that after the movers unloaded everything then told me I needed to sign the paperwork so they could get going I was supposed to have gone through absolutely everything to determine if anything was missing. That would have taken days. Was it my right to go through everything? Yes. Is it reasonable that I would have done that while four guys sat there and waited for me for hours and hours? No. I had two heavy-duty storage racks in my garage that I personally disassembled prior to the movers arriving. I organized the pieces and left them laid out for the guys to pack up. All they did with the heavy steel components was to wrap them up with a little plastic & tape in the center. Upon delivery the wrap was broken on one the bundle and the parts were loose. When I tried to reassemble the racks I discovered some of the components were missing. I turned that in on my claim form and received the following note, ?After review of the inventory we found the racks both had notations that they were disassembled by the owner. Therefore, we must respectfully decline liability as we cannot confirm the pieces claimed were tendered for shipment.? Now on to the billing. My employer reimbursed me for my move. As part of that process they required a finalized receipt of funds paid in full. Despite the fact that I paid for the move immediately when required (in Mid-July 2011) I still had no receipt from Wheaton by early October 2011. I requested this time after time so that I could get my $5,400 back that I had personally put into the household move. I kept getting excuse after excuse about the accounting department needing to audit the move and not being done with that yet. At some point I was finally put in touch with the Move Manager Supervisor in the Customer Service Department. We had some phone & email discussions around my complete dissatisfaction with every aspect of dealing with Wheaton. One of the emails states, "We recognize this is an upsetting situation, and regret the actions that have taken place." Now, fast forward quite a few months when my claims forms were due. I turned everything in with detail about the damages, included the email correspondence noted above, and photos of most of the damage. When I faxed it in I asked that someone call me to verify receipt. No one did. I knew there would be discrepancies between what I thought I was owed and what Wheaton was willing to provide. I assumed someone would contact me to discuss this. Instead, what I got was a small check (compared to the damages) and a letter a few weeks later. The letter indicated that they would not accept any liability for the hardwood floor damage since, ". . . there were no notations made on the day of delivery." The moving guys specifically told me to turn the floor damage in with my goods claim... With Wheaton (and perhaps all moving companies?) you have a choice. I could either have paid in excess of $500 (non-refundable) to insure me from damages or I could forgo the insurance and get $0.60 per pound for any item damaged. So, essentially, you pay them extra for them to take full liability for damage they cause, or they give you next to nothing for damage they cause. As required, on the claim forms I included the weight of the items that were damaged. On the list I received with the reimbursement check they lowered the weight of the heavy items and increased the weight of the lighter items - thus providing a smaller dollar amount. The letter states, "We are concerned that any damage occurred and look forward to providing you better service in the future." These people are all talk. From my experience they don't really care about providing good service or taking care of your worldly possessions. I regret ever having used Wheaton for my move. UPDATE: After making an dissatisfied phone call they are apparently entertaining the idea of reibursing me for refinishing the floor they damaged. I will update this review appropriately.

Wheaton is the national company, but the local branch was Bekins A-1 Moving. They are a company owned branch, not a franchise or affiliated mover. We had a fairly complicated move, in that we were emptying out our mother's house about 2 hours away and distributing the contents to three different cities. We were also on a very tight schedule and could not pack anything in advance, so we needed them to pack everything in 2 days. And to make it even more problematic, we had only about a week to schedule it and get it done, and the Memorial Day holiday was in the middle . We had already interviewed a couple of different movers, but were not pleased with either, when we called Bekins. Due to time constraints and the remote location of our mother's house, Bekins agreed to use the inventory prepared by another mover to get an idea of the volume and decide if they could do the move so quickly. They agreed to do it. There was a minor (although it seemed major at the time) problem about 3 days before the move, when they had overbooked and thought they would not have a truck, but after a meltdown on my part, they managed to rearrange and got what we needed. The packers arrived on schedule. They were very pleasant and professional, and more important, focused. Once everyone was clear on how we had staged everything to go to the different cities, there was no time-wasting, chit-chat, or long breaks. The packing was accomplished with time to spare, all the boxes were clearly labelled and the staging maintained for the next crew to come in and load it on the trucks (we needed 2, one for 2 of the locations and 1 for the 3rd). The moving crew arrived on time, the team leader quickly formulated the loading plan for the different locations and the crew went to work. Like the packers, they didn't waste time, they were focused and got the load-up finished in excellent time. Everything remained on the trucks over the holiday weekend, and my shipment was delivered first. They unloaded in record time. I had absolutely zero breakage. At no extra charge, they also picked up several additional pieces of furniture here to be delivered to the next location for storage. That shipment, about an hour away from me, was the largest and most difficult with 3 floors, but they finished up by early afternoon. There was no breakage in any of the boxes. There was some minor damage to furniture, but was probably due to the condition of the furniture (almost all antique). The only real glitch was that several items that should have been delivered to me got delivered here. The team leader had a large van, and solved that by loading those items in the van and taking them back to my house when they finished. They even came in and moved some things around for me. The third shipment was several days later, about 600 miles away. As before, there was no breakage, and no furniture damage. Given the painful nature of this move (Mother passed away, siblings dividing up all her things, the things we grew up with etc.), this was as positive an experience as it could have been. They were very respectful of her belongings, and made every effort to do the best job with very short notice. I will most certainly use Bekins in the future

We used Wheaton Van Lines to move from Florida to Colorado a few weeks ago. We interviewed four companies before we selected Wheaton because they were the cheapest and the agent that came out made us feel comfortable able using them to move our belongings. May 30th the movers arrived to pick up our items. The movers were very polite and were very careful about loading our items and made sure to write down the number assigned for all of our boxes. After our belongings were on the truck and gone I received a phone call from the agent who told me that a driver has not been assigned for our shipment and she has no idea when it would be delivered, but they were going to try and make it in the delivery window. Sadly, this is when the service went completely down hill. On June 5th, I received another call that our belongings were going to be stored in their warehouse and that a driver was *still not assigned for our delivery. I asked if this was normal and the response I got was "it's our busy season," and that her hands were tied and that there was nothing she could do. I was told it was up to me to contact the national customer service line to see why a driver had not been assigned because she couldn't do anything. On top of that the estimate she gave us was over a thousand dollars more then what was quoted. We couldn't do anything about it, we were in Colorado waiting on our items and our stuff was still stuck in Florida. After calling the national number we were told a driver would be assigned, but we were still not given a date. The date written on the estimate was for June 10th, and on June 8th still no driver and nobody could answer when we could expect our stuff to arrive. We called the agent again who did our estimate and she told us not to call her anymore because she couldn't do anything. Finally we got a call from a driver that was assigned for our delivery who told us that our agent has known he was coming and that our new estimated date would be June 15th. The national number said they would reimburse us for the cost of a hotel and food if we provided receipts. Keep in mind our estimate had all ready gone up over a thousand dollars, we had to suck it up and buy and air mattress which we slept on for two weeks waiting for our belongings to arrive. The driver was very polite when he arrived on June 15th, and he informed us when he picked up the items our agent told him that "we were in a hurry," and that we were mad that a driver hadn't been assigned, even though she lied to us from everything from the price, to our delivery date. The crew that helped unload were great, very polite, they didn't put any marks on the walls and even covered the carpet while unloading. Our boxes were a whole different story, I'm assuming when they were moved from the truck to storage they were thrown off the truck. We had several broken items, some of the boxes were smashed to half there size, some of the boxes looks like the side had been kicked in. Both beds that were loaded were missing parts. Overall, it was one of the most frustrating moves I have ever experienced. We were going to call customer service, but after our previous experience with them we decided the chances of anything actually being done were very slim.

The move was nearly flawless! Despite our delaying the move twice during their busy time of year, Miami Valley & Bekins practically bent over backward to make it happen! We could not be more grateful for their efforts. Everyone we dealt with from estimators, packers, local and the long distance drivers was friendly, courteous and professional; keeping us informed every step of the way. The final price actually came in a little under the original estimate We would not hesitate to use them for another move.
Description of Work: We used Wheaton's affiliate, Bekin Van Lines, for moving two households from Ohio to Arizona. Bekin's local representative, Miami Valley Moving & Storage in Dayton, also provided some packing service for the more fragile items. The road drivers were from Wisconsin.....sorry that I don't remember their company name.

Description of Work: Unfortunately, the locall representative in Niagara Falls left a VERY BAD taste in our mouths. Two weeks ago we scheduled an appointment with your affiliate, Bekin Movers for an estimator to meet us last Thursday at 12:00 noon. When 12:30 came and went and no one showed, and worse, no one gave a courtesy call to say they were running late, I called Bekin and gave them a piece of my mind. I also told them not to come. If they could not arrive on time or even call to apologize, what guarantee would we have that the van would arrive for both loading and unloading.

Overall it wasn't a good move, but there were some good people. This wasn't a corporate or government move. I paid for it out of my own pocket. When the Wheaton schedulers split up the load from one truck into two, they greatly inconvenienced us. I thought they would pay us something for the inconvenience, but it turned out that was only if we were unable to live in our new home and could document hotel rooms and meal receipts. They did offer to give us $40 toward the purchase of a Christmas tree because it was Christmas and our tree was on their truck, but I never filed a claim for it. I give them an F overall and can't recommend them. The price was average, no less no more then everybody else.
Description of Work: I used Wheaton Van Lines Inc. to move all of our household goods from Oklahoma to Nevada. They sent out a team of packers, maybe six. Wheaton diverted our scheduled moving van in order to pick up another load, so when it arrived at our house it was already too full to hold all of our belongings. They sent a second, smaller truck to pick up the rest of our things. The packers worked until two hours after dark on a cold and windy night before they finished. The contents were put in storage until another cross-country moving van was available, about two weeks later. We thought we would have one truck and it would arrive before Christmas, but that didn't happen.

Dear Member, I am sincerely sorry for the inconvenience you endured by the unfortunate situation that occurred with your move. What we term an "overflow" does sometimes occur when previously loaded shipments take up more room than anticipated causing another customer's shipmen to not have enough room to finish loading. This is unfortunate and does not benefit us as a company and surely not you as a customer. This is especially true since your family was without special items during a holiday season. Upon review of the notes and details of your move, I found that we offered you $40 a day for each day you were delayed in the completion of your delivery between 12/16-12/28 and $20 towards the new tree. We had agreed to deliver no later than 12/16, and in order to honor our offer and extend our deepest apologies we will be mailing you the agreed upon delay compensation of $540. I welcome you to contact me directly to discuss your move in more detail or if you have any additional questions or concerns. My name is Tabitha Lowery, Corporate Move Manager, and I can be reached at 317-558-0279 or via email tabitha_lowery@wvlcorp.com. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day.

The local agent delivered paperwork the day before our move at the time promised. The agent from Wheaton in Indiana called to confirm time of pick up, provide contact numbers, etc. The actual driver Will also called to confirm time and arrived with two helpers promptly as scheduled at 8 AM on Saturday. Everything was meticulously wrapped and thoroughly inventoried and tagged. Loading took a little less time than anticipated. All of our household furnishing arrived at our Out of State destination promptly as scheduled time on Monday morning. There were slight complications with access to our new home, but the driver cheerfully came up with a solution and was careful not to damage adjacent home's landscaping, etc. Unloading took less time than anticipated, everything arrived, and NOTHING was damaged in the slightest way! Will and his helper Brandon were helpful and personable as they positioned furnishings in our new home.I selected a moving company with much apprehension, but I am so glad I used Wheaton.

As stated previously they did everything they promised.
Description of Work: We moved from a 3 story home in Philadelphia to a 3 story home in Asheville, NC. The owner of the local affiliate in Moorestown, NJ, Anchor, Mike Jenkins came and did a walk through. He was professional, polite and thorough. He spent a lot of time with us answering our questions. He gave us a not to exceed estimate which was extremely reasonable. On the day of the move a crew of four arrived. They were really professional, well mannered men. They shrink wrapped all upholstered furniture and wrapped blankets which they secured with tape around everything else that was not a box. They arrived at the other end exactly when they stated they would and kept in contact with us along the way. Everything arrived with no damage and nothing was lost. These guys, John, and his crew were truly amazing.

I am pleased to hear our local agent Mike Jenkins was "professional, polite, and thorough, and it would appear this carried over to the crew and the driver as well as they secured and protected your belongings. I am so happy that your belongings and precious items arrived in such great condition. I will be sure to forward this on to Mike and John, as I am sure they will appreciate your positive feedback. Please be sure to remember us when you need to move again. Also, please recommend us to your friends/family/acquaintances, if they will be moving. My name is Tabitha Lowery, Corporate Move Manager.
