I'll come back when I PCS again! These guys are the best!
Description of Work: Moved from San Diego, CA to Grat Lakes, IL. From the initial estimate and pack out, till the last box was unloaded, these guys were on point! The staff was safe, friendly, and FAST! PROs! Remember, a delivery "window" is just that....a Window. They will work with you as best as they can but be flexable when doing a cross country move.

These guys were absolutely terrific. I had two pickup locations and three dropoffs, and they did it all in one day. Completely professional, courteous, great to work with in every way. They made moving (which I usually HATE) almost enjoyable. I even added items to the move on the fly, and they handled it with no problems. I recommend them 100%.

They showed up late (as I recall) and had to work until 10 p.m. to fit everything on truck. They did not seem to know what they were doing as they loaded & unloaded the truck several times.
Description of Work: This was 7 years ago so I am not sure it is relevant. We moved from CA to KS. They were unqualified (in my opinion), broke, damaged and scratched many items. It took forever to get reimbursed and they did not care. The truck they brought was insufficient for the load and they spent many hours re-arranging the items to fit everything in.

They were mostly good. They did ship a car for me, which is hard to find somebody willing to do. That was a good thing. They created a little crease in the fender, though, and by the time I filed a claim, they told me it was too late to do anything about it. That was pretty bad. A couple things were damaged, and the national agency wasn't really willing to work with me at all about it.

We initially hired a company in New York called Moving Man, who took care of the move in New York and then acted as the agent who hired Wheaton to do the rest of the move cross-country. A Wheaton rep came to our New York apartment and discussed the details with us prior to the move. The morning of the delivery, prior to Wheaton's arrival, someone from Wheaton called us to take the entire payment by credit card over the phone. In a voicemail he left us, the Wheaton rep specifically stated that this was the complete and final bill that we were paying in full. Our items were delivered to our home in the southwest by three movers from Wheaton. One of the movers was rude and condescending. He also did damage to our wall when moving our piano. Plus, Wheaton lost an expensive ladder. The following month, we received another bill from Wheaton stating that we owed yet more money, even after they had said that the amount we paid the morning of the move was the entire balance. Wheaton did in the end admit that we did not owe any additional fees, but it was unprofessional and irritating that they attempted this, especially as the bill stated that they would begin charging penalty fees if we did not pay this extra money by a certain date, which was only a few weeks after they sent us this new bill. But the nastiest part was that they completely went back on their word on at least one item charge. The Wheaton rep who initially came to our home said that we would be charged $140 to move a piano over 6' in length. This was also confirmed by the movers from Moving Man at the time of the move. But on the new bill that came after the move, Wheaton now claimed that the charge for a piano over 6' was $280, DOUBLE THE ORIGINALLY STATED RATE. They also itemized other charges; who knows what other fees they suddenly now decided to jack up as well. Unfortunately for us, the only one we paid attention to when the Wheaton rep first came was the piano, since that was a special concern for us. In addition to their losing our ladder and damaging our walls, a dish was damaged in the move, which was part of an expensive and collectible set of antique, pre-world war II German china. The set was worth about $500. Now, it is worth nothing. Wheaton, thanks a lot for your rude empoyee, for our losses and damages, for doubling rates after the fact, and for trying to charge us another $343 after saying that we had already been billed in full. And thanks to your Team Leader, Debra, who sent us a reply to our Claim Sheet, a reply that did not even bother to respond to my request for a refund for the doubled piano fee, while she managed to find the nerve to say that she hoped we were satisfied and would use Wheaton in the future. No, we are not satisfied. No, we would never use this company again. Yes, we'll be sure to tell our friends and acquaintances about our experiences with Wheaton anytime they mention to us that they will be moving.
Description of Work: We will NEVER use this company again.

Dear Member, thank you very much for your feedback! I am sorry to hear your move from NY to NV was not completed to your satisfaction. I have reached out to our local agent Moving Man and they provided me a copy of your original signed Order for Service which reflects the discounted cost of moving the piano as $185.43. I can understand the confusion since our invoices reflects non-discounted items and then your discount is deducted from the total charges. I apologize if we did not make every effort to explain that clearly. We will consider situations like this when we review the set up of our invoices in the future. In reference to the ladder and your antique plate, we have received your claim and recently sent the settlement offer to you on 01/23/13. Our claims department advised me we did honor the amounts you claimed on the claim form for reimbursement. I hope this will be to your satisfaction. Unfortunately, the damage to your walls was not listed on the claim form. We take our customer's satisfaction seriously, so I would like to address this for you directly and see how we can help resolve these issues. I would appreciate the opportunity to resolve any other outstanding issues as well. My name is Tabitha Lowery, Corporate Move Manager. Very poorly. Very unprofessional.
Description of Work: I arranged to move my 90 year old mom with a Wheaton company out of Pittsburgh PA, I advised the manager to go ahead with the reservation by email, which she said that she would do. One week prior to the move, I phoned for the contract which had not been received. The mover told me that Wheaton did not have the dates that I had asked for, but never called to tell me that it had fallen through. They did not even try to help when I had no mover at the last minute! They simply said "sorry." I was very disappointed, but found an independent mover in Vermont (where she was moving) to help at a reasonable cost.

I will be much more attentive than I was on this particular move, making sure all the boxes are labeled are labeled, packed properly and I will rely only on myself. When the furniture and boxes arrive at my new destination, I will be sure to check the labels myself and check all boxes. The crew was courteous and friendly.
Description of Work: As I had a couple of boxes missing (and still not recovered) and notified the company right away, I felt I did not receive adequate service to fix the problem. As with most companies the service up front was excellent, but once the shipment arrived, any further service slid down the drain. Companies need to be trained on sticking with their client(s) helping them. They may forget the problems but the client doesn't.

We selected Wheaton from the reviews we read on Angie's List, and received quotes from two different moving companies. The local agent from W. Palm Beach was very nice and accommodating. About two days before our move several employees of the local agent came to our home, and packed fragile items, such as glass table tops, lamps, mirrors, and framed artwork. On 1/3012, the van came and loaded our belongings, which included our furniture, the professionally packed items, and many boxes which we had packed ourselves. On 2/17/12 the van arrived at our rented condo in Las Cruces, and unloaded our belongings into the two car garage, attached to the unit. Our plan was to store items there until we found a permanent residence in Las Cruces. We knew that the mover was responsible for the delivery to our rented garage, and not to any subsequent location. When unloading our furniture, I noticed several items, which were damaged, and was told by the driver that we couldn't take the time to inspect every piece, as this would take too long. My first mistake was signing the inventory sheets stating that we had checked the items, stating they were fine, except as noted. At the end a long day we overlooked this, and it was never brought to our attention. When we moved to our permanent residence in Las Cruces, I contacted Wheaton and suggested they have an agent at our garage so that they could see any damage that was caused by their movers, before the items were transferred into the next moving truck. They said that this was not possible. I contacted their local agent who was very hesitant to get involved with our second move for fear that he would be blamed for the damage. After he was contacted by the head of claims at Wheaton, and we assured him that he would not be responsible for "any damage", he agreed to move our belongings. On 10/1/12 their local agent moved our goods about 2 miles to our new home. As they moved the items from our garage they were careful to point out damages as not te be held responsible. Some of the items were a dining room chair with a leg broken in two, numerous chips to bedroom furniture, scratches to a wooden Grandmother's clock, a walnut server with scratches. There were 10 items that they noticed were damaged. When unpacking at our new residence we found a couple of more pieces, which included two items that we paid Wheaton to 'professionally' pack. One was a lamp that was broken inside the box and taped together. We filed a claim with Wheaton, and was told that they were not responsible for any damages beyond the first delivery address. They actually attached " a written settlement offer of "we're not responsible!" We then threatened to post a negative report on Angie's List. This prompted them to send a furniture repair company to our new home. The repair person spent over an hour inspecting all the damages, and taking pictures of same. We were subsequently offered a settlement of about $400. This is a copy of the email I sent in response to this offer: As you may recall your driver hurriedly unloaded our furniture into our garage/storage facility never explaining, or giving us an adequate opportunity to inspect our furniture. The furniture was stacked as in the truck so it was not visible to us. Therefore an accurate assessment of the damage could not be done until it was moved from the garage. That is why I suggested that you have an inspector present when the furniture was moved to our new home. You declined this. You did however speak to you local agent, All Around Moving & Storage prior to the furniture being touched. All Around was very leery of being held responsible for any damage, and was very careful to immediately point out all damages before loading the pieces into his truck. I am also aware that you spoke with them prior to our move. We were horrified and saddened to find our Directional dining room table with a section of wood veneer scraped completely off, and a dining room chair with one leg broken in two! Our grandmother's clock also has a chipped right front leg. These are high quality solid wood pieces. These items were ones brought to our attention by your local agent. We expect you to pay to repair these. We paid your employees to professionally pack many of our fragile items, and showed your repair agent, Ms. Nixon the box from a picture where the glass was broken in two and the label written by your packer where we found a broken table lamp taped together. We paid you to pack these items AND for extra insurance to cover damage. It is unconscionable for your company to deny responsibility for the above. We will pursue further action unless you agree to repair these items. You can also expect this email to be posted at Angie's list. After this brought no response, I sent a "request for discovery" for the furniture repair agent's report including all pictures, by certified mail, return receipt requested. They responded stating that the report was their property, and they would not release it. I felt strongly that this would be seen as an admission of guilt by a Judge. However, at the bottom of this refusal to supply the report, they requested that we accept their settlement, which was now increased by 400% to $1600. We contacted two furniture repair companies, who quoted us an amount to repair our furniture for about this amount. We have signed a release accepting the settlement. Lessons learned. 1. Don't use Wheaton. 2. inspect your furniture carefully when it is unloaded regardless of what the driver states. 3. Send certified letters suggesting legal action

Excellent service and advice from the local agent in Texas. Excellent performance and professionalism from the loading and unloading crews. Good followup enroute by very pleasant customer service rep, but a couple miscommunications with the moving teams' supervisor about scheduling pickup and delivery times--service rep told us it would be delivered Tuesday; she was apparently not advised it had been delayed to Thursday, and crew's supervisor did not call us to advise either--we didn't find out about the delay until I called him late Monday to check on delivery time. Other than that, very satisfied.

Everything was great. I had a great experience with Bell moving (the part of Wheaton that's in columbus). They were proactive, up front with everything I needed to move and very patient (I had never moved cross-country before, so I had a lot of questions). Movers showed up on time in both cities and were very careful with my belongings. Nothing was lost or damaged in the move. I will definitely use them on my next big move.

(see above) (I do have some pictures, but do not know how to attach them to this)
Description of Work: I am writing a review for Hartman Relocation Services, 272 Whitney St., Leominster, MA 01453. They are a Wheaton affiliate. When we sold our house in MA and moved to NC, we contacted three moving companies. One never returned our call, one sent us a lengthy on-line form to fill out listing all our goods before they would issue an estimate (it took hours to fill out and we had no personal contact with anyone from the company), and Mr. Billy Hartman of Hartman Relocation Services not only called back, but came out to our house (an hour trip from his office) and gave us a free estimate in writing, saying that the final cost would not be greater than that. As it turned out, the cost was actually less than he estimated, so that is what we paid. Mr. Hartman always returned our calls and emails promptly, which was very important to us, as we are an older couple, who found the moving process somewhat daunting. When the day for the movers to come arrived, four workers and a truck showed up on time and began to pack the truck. At one point, the crew chief felt that the one truck might not be sufficient, so he called for another truck, which arrived an hour or so later with three more crew members. It turned out the second truck was not needed, but we were not charged. The seven workers emptied our three story home into the truck in four hours, an amazing feat, as it had taken us weeks to go through everything and pack up. The crew chief, Tom, was very supportive, as we were somewhat sad and stressed, and the entire crew was extremely careful with our belongings. My great grandmother's antique parlor organ, a gift from her new husband on their wedding day in the late 1800's was treated like the Hope Diamond, as were our other treasured family antiques. My grandmother's beveled glass china closet was heavily padded and carefully packed. Our belongings went into climate controlled storage until we could find and buy a house in North Carolina, which meant the items were off-loaded carefully into storage. The first month of storage was free. After we bought a house in NC, we arranged a delivery date of November 8, 2012, and explained that we had found a house off a gravel road, which could not accommodate a large truck (18 wheeler). We expected there would be an additional $1,000 shuttle charge, but Mr. Hartman asked Tom if he could get all our belongings in a smaller truck, which he did, so we were not charged the shuttle fee. When Tom and his one other crew member (his son Mark, who had been part of the original crew) pulled into our driveway, promptly at 8 a.m. on Nov. 8, as had been promised, it was like greeting old friends. They unloaded everything carefully and helped us put beds together. They were patient when we changed where items went, as we had labeled the boxes for which room we guessed they would go in, but we had not bought a house yet, so some of our quesses were wrong. The two last pieces off the truck were my grandmother's beveled glass china closet and my great grandmother's parlor organ, both in perfect condition. Tom and Mark were cheerful, helpful, and as pleased as we were that all our belongings arrived safely. Mr. Hartman and his crew went above and beyond to help us relocate as painlessly as possible.

Walter Keener kept his appointment on 9/21 to come to my house to give an on-site estimate to move by belongings on 10/4 from my home in Coconut Creek, Florida to Oregon. He competently explained what to expect and provided me with a signed "Total Not-To-Exceed" cost. The 18-wheeler arrived on the morning of the scheduled date. Edward Ashley and his assistant introduced themselves and proceeded to pack and transfer by belongings onto the truck. I watched them wrap items in blankets and carefully load the truck. Edward advised me he that he would be the driver who makes the delivery at my destination. He provided me with his cell phone number to call when I arrived at my new address in Oregon. Since I was driving cross-country, he would make the delivery after I arrived. I called him on Oct. 14 to advise him that I was ready for delivery. He said he would be there 9am the next day. What impressed me so much was the fact that the same driver and truck made the move. My belongings were loaded and unloaded one time, reducing the chance of damage. There was one piece, a ceramic floor vase that I asked him to put on the truck at the last minute that I did not include in the original estimate. Edward wrapped it in a blanket and put it on the truck. Upon delivery, every box and item was numbered and we checked them off one by one, every items was accounted for. Edward advised me the vase was damaged and he sent it to a shop to be repaired at no charge to me. The experience was exceptional beyond my expectations. I would recommend Wheaton to family and friends.
Description of Work: I moved from Florida to Oregon. A "packager" arrived before the moving van was scheduled. He pre-packed the larger belongings that I could not pack, such as mattresses, large screen TV and lamps. The van arrived as he was finishing and they started moving boxes on the truck.

HORRIBLE FROM BEGINNING TO END!!!!!
Description of Work: This was a horrible experience. They came to my home in Fl and did a complete inventory and also to a storage unit. First off, they showed up a whole date late. I legally had to be out o the house. This caused me considerable expense to the new owner. Then my delivery was delayed by a week (not due to weather).. They were extremely difficult to reach by phone this entire time. Finally when delivery was done they presented a bill over 20% more. My belongings were help hositge until I paid off. After all this, I had no money to sue them. I would rather hand carry my items to their destination versus hiring this horrible compnay. Last moved, I used Van Lines out of Green Bay, WI. They were absolutely wonderful.

with the people at C & C
Description of Work: Moving housewhole goods from FL to NC. After the packing was done, my items were loaded into a local truck. I found out later that the goods were taken to a whearhouse and stored. I was not told this would happen. Anytime you move items from one truck to another, things get broken or misplaced. I then had to get very upset with the people at C & C Moving then I would get my items in NC. I was told that the truck was in the shop and they didn't know when I would get my goods. Used many old boxes....some had been used several times. I was charged for new boxes. Many of the boxes were not labled correctly. Some not labled at all. We are still looking for items. The problem was with the management of C & C Moving in Tampa. They really didn't seem to care. That seems to be the problem in America today....nobody cares.

It was a good experience, the packers were great and the boys that moved me out of the house and into storage were really terrific! They should have had a driver on call though, because they couldn't find one for me for two weeks and my furniture had to be shuffled around. I would use them again but I would have to address this issue specifically.

They gave a reasonable estimate. I was promised 4 men and a truck at 8 AM. I had a driver and one worker that was a lady show up at 11 AM. The other guys showed up in the after noon. They did not finish up at my home until 5:00 PM and then they went to dinner. It took them another 3 hours to get the items to my new home which is only about 45 minutes in traffic. They worked through the night as they sent the additional workers home. They told me business is slow and they had a hard time finding workers even though I had hired them 3 or 4 weeks before the move. I picked them over anyone else as I needed a piano moved and they did actually do a good job with that. I would not recommend them to anyone however. They quoted $1,800.00 and it ended up costing $2,400.00. They never called to tell me they were running late and it was a big difference from getting started at the beginning of the day.

We were very pleased with the excellence and integrity of Wheaton World Wide Moving and White Moving and Storage.
Description of Work: Wheaton was planning to move our 2-bedroom apartment from Columbia, MO to Wichita, KS with a truck and semi, with other households. They gave us a range of a week for delivery of our goods. After more discussion, our contact at Wheaton decided to turn our move over to an associated company near Columbia--White Moving and Storage of Fulton, MO. Mr. White came to our home and did an on-site estimate. He said he would use a straight truck instead of a semi, and only our goods would be on the truck. With this arrangement, he was able to pinpoint the date and time of delivery, much to our satisfaction. White Moving arrived right on schedule, cheerfully and carefully loaded our belongings in Columbia. They arrived at our new apartment in Wichita KS right on time. Again, they were careful and cheerful as they unloaded our goods. They even rearranged furniture in our bedrooms after we realized our original arrangement would not work.
