They showed up on time. Everyone was professional and courteous. Anything special I asked for they did when packing. The person in charge of the packing made sure an inexperienced packer did not pack delicate items in our home. The supervisor at the local office stopped by to make sure everything was going well with the packing as well. When it was time to deliver, there was an issue with our house closing which delayed for 2 days. Instead of putting our things into storage 3 hours away, the supervisor worked to have corporate hold off for a day so we could still take delivery. Not one person was rude or disrespectful towards me. I have had many many military moves and have never experienced such a wonderful experience and stress free move.
Description of Work: I have no idea how much it cost as it was a military move. They packed everything and delivered it to the new address.

Getting the quote and all payments were very easy. scheduling times and driver was efficient. The driver gave us his cell number and told us to call him any time of we had question or wanted to see his progress. our furniture was delivered to out new house only a few days past scheduled not a big deal. he even refunded us some money because the weight we were quoted and actual weight was less!

Awful. The crew did not bring the appropriate amount of boxes. We ended up having to buy exta boxes from U-Haul, including a flat-screen t.v. box. They packed things we had separated because they were trying to rush, added too many people to the crew, then did not communicate. This was also scheduled to be a door-to-door move from AZ to VA. Instead, they took our goods to a lot, unloaded then all to another trailer, repacked several of the boxes (therefore, the boxes were not marked correctly), then let our household goods sit for almost two weeks in Arizona. They compensated us for the delay, however, the inconvenience was ridiculous. The time I took off from work was wasted. I had to start my new job and my children had to start their new school without being settled. We were very clear that we wanted our goods delivered timely, but they totally disregarded our schedule, including the time my husband and I scheduled for leave from work. My husband had to take off more time so the goods could finally be delivered. We are prior military and have moved several time, but this was by far, the worst move ever.

I am sorry to see that we did not have a driver to directly load your shipment. It is always our goal to have a direct driver to load and deliver on time and within the agreed contract dates. However, in unforeseen situations where the shipment is going to be delayed, we do honor delay compensation. Normally we would require receipts for hotel and food expenses, but given the circumstances and inconvenience your family was experiencing we did make exception to this and paid the maximum daily amount for a total of $1500 in delay compensation. They were great! They were the most economically priced company. They were very reliable! I had some antique furniture and everything arrived in tact and un-chipped. The driver, Rob King, was great! He brought two men to help with loading, unloading and wrapping. They were very respectful and great! He kept in touch with me and kept me posted on where they were. He also told me where there was bad weather coming in route so that I could take an alternative highway. It was a very personal touch and he was very professional about everything that they did. They were great with my pets. They knew they were closed in the bathroom and they made sure they did not get out to escape. They were very careful with fragile belongings. He was so personal and professional. I have nothing but great things to say about them.

Communication was lacking from the beginning, no confirmation on finalized date for packing was given. We had to call the morning before they were scheduled to start packing to confirm timing. Upon delivery several items were broken including a leg on our dinning room chair. We asked the delivery team about disposal of our boxes and we were told that they could be picked up when we were done, only to find out that there is an additional charge if we wanted this done. I called Crown Moving in Indianapolis and was told that someone would get back to us-no one did. I felt that the customer service was not professional and the response to our concerns were not addressed.

Bad. We were told that our goods would be delivered in 3 to 8 days after pick up when the estimate was received. We were also told that Wheaton would be able to narrow the delivery date estimate as we got closer to pick up. Pick up was scheduled for Thursday, May 30. I called re the delivery date on May 27 and also asked the packing personnel and loading personnel and was not able to get any information. I called again on June 1 and was told the delivery would be on June 13, 13 days after our furniture was loaded. The furniture was finally delivered on June 14. The delayed caused many problems!!! The local offices and personnel were good, it was Wheaton Van Lines that made the decision not to deliver as promised and agreed to

They did an excellent job. They were competent, courteous, and conscientious. The three C's I was looking. We got great service from them, and they took amazing care with our treasured items - not a scratch on anything. They came exactly when they said they would and delivered exactly when they said they would. Their original estimate was within $100 of the final cost - fantastic for so large a job.

Excellant follow up by Corporate office. Movers Ed and Bev Worthen handled it all with experience and care on both ends. They were on time, under estimate and no missing items for damage. Given horror stories about movers in general we were completely satisfied and pleased.

They have been great and they did well in LA to Orlando. They showed up on time with nice people and all the furniture came out just great. Nothing has been damaged on the antiques furniture and it’s just great.

I like that the person in charge was in contact with me the whole time. She made sure that everything was going to be okay. The things that I did not like about it is that the staff that came out was a little unprofessional in terms of asking me to help with the move and pack boxes. There are three guys that came out and one of the guys pretended to be sick so he can't help with the packing.

I contacted the provider for an estimate on moving from Illinois to California. I scheduled an appointment and the agent arrived on time and fully prepared for the estimate. He conducted himself in a friendly and professional manner. He discussed our options, the costs involved and the advantages and disadvantages of those options. He provided advice on how to minimize costs. This was no high pressure sales job. Since we couldn't afford the service, we cannot speak to its quality, but based on the presentation by the estimator, I would assess them to be a reputable company. This company was one of only two that did onsite estimates. For that reason alone my assessment of the company was raised. I don't see how you can give an accurate estimate without seeing what you are transporting.

Company was fantastic. I've moved several times but this is the 1st time I've used Wheaton and I would definitely use them again (unlike the others). The estimate provided ahead of the move was almost exact and the driver of the van was extremely pleasant to deal with. Everything arrived on time. Thanks for making my move go smoothly this time!

The initial contact with La Habre Moving, a division of Wheaton, seemed to go quite well. Packers came on time and were prepared until last minute issues intervened. I was informed that they could not provide a driver and that my possessions were going into storage with no sure date of delivery. The packers rushed at the end of the day, saying someone's mother was ill. They left items, such as an expensive vacuum which I had to leave, as my car was full. I take my kids and my animals and drive to Idaho. At this point we still have no driver. We were inconvenienced for about a week but the worst part was that many of my possessions never made it to my house. The driver was rude , actually angry. Two expensive items, an antique mirror and a Haitian Oil painting, both quite large went missing, as did about five other framed prints, also large, a floor lamp, exercise ball, exercise mat, and a new mandolin (for slicing) in a sturdy case and probably a few other things. Aside from the mirror and the painting and one primitive print(which I cannot replace) the items were not valuable. It was as if someone went shopping while the items were in storage or on the truck and took what happened to appeal at the moment. I have moved several times in the past few years, and have never had anything missing. I have had some things broken or damaged, but not missing. Wheaton's attitude was dismissive and curt without an attempt at an explanation. Had I known I was going to put things in storage, I would have taken out some additional insurance. At that point in the move, it was not time for logistical planning. I didn't put in a claim because I didn't want to go through what I thought would be a painful process. I did send them descriptions and a picture of the Haitian Oil painting.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond to our customer’s concerns. We strive to meet all of the expectations and commitments to our customer and are disappointed that we were not able to do so. Our efforts to resolve her concerns have been as follows: Delay Compensation – Customer was mailed $600 in delay compensation on 10/12/2012. This waived the normal requirement to mail receipts of th3e expenses incurred and instead paid the contracted $150 maximum daily rate for the 4 days delivery was delayed. The contracted delivery spread was 08/16/2012-08/21-2012. Her shipment was delivered on 8/25/12. Please see the copy of the letter we mailed below. Missing Items/Claim- We are very disappointed to hear (deleted member name) items were not delivered. We have exhausted all measures to locate the items listed as missing and have been unable to locate them. The driver’s truck had nothing left over, the agency checked their warehouse thoroughly, and we contacted the other 3 customer’s that were on the same truck as she and none reported any additional items delivered to them either. We are happy to review her claim for a settlement offer on these items, however, we do require the claim form to be completed. I have emailed her the claim form directly, and have also attached it to this response. We must receive the claim form by 05/25 as the customer has 9 months from the delivery date of 08/25/12 to file claim. In order to expedite the receipt of the claim form, she is welcome to email it back at claims@wvlcorp.com and also copy myself Tabitha-lowery@wvlcorp.com. My interaction (from inquiring, to hand holding) and total satisfaction was with McCARTHY STORAGE AND TRANSFER in San Diego. (A Wheaton Company) principleably what worked was Truda Petrea Move Specialist. Truda was outstanding! There was an unfortunate death in my family and this was an emotional move. I was hesitate at first to pick McCarthy - I did not see any reviews of them. They move a lot of military in and out of San Diego. Truda was efficient, and kept in contact with me as my material goods were on the move. Meaning - I was concerned about my small amount being put on a truck that obviously was going to have many other households on it. Would my precious stuff get intermingled? She assured me it would be ok. There was a incident with the driver upon delivery of the load, but Truda made this delivery happen. With a phone call to her, in five minutes the driver was unpacking, and delivering. I did receive a call from Wheaton on my service, which I also thought was good. Wanted to know the plus's and the minus's of my experience. If you need a mover in San Diego - McCarthy Transfer and Storage is the only one you should choose. Their crew that picked up my belongings were respectful, efficient and knowledgeable and very careful. My only regret that the driver that helped with the loading on a shuttle to the warehouse in San Diego - wasn't my driver. My load sat for a few days before another driver picked it up for delivery. Would I use them again - absolutely, highly recommend them. Truda is their asset!

We were pleased. After hearing about so many moving horror stories, it was nice to just have the truck arrive on schedule, unload and leave without any issues.
Description of Work: We contracted Bekins for our move from Florida to North Carolina. Wheaton was contracted by them for the second truck. They arrived on time and working diligently until the job was done. Damages were kept to a minimum as some are to be expected.

It went very smoothly. 2 workers packed everything in one day and movers loaded everything in one day. Movers even helped my husband move furniture that we had previously bought in our new location into the house. They moved a sectional sofa, large chair and ottoman, a recliner and other miscellaneous objects. No neighbors complained about the large moveing van on the court we live on. Overall, it was not as stressful as I thought it would be. All the staff worked hard and efficiently and were very personable.
Description of Work: All glassware packed by moving company all arrived without breakage or chips. Forgot to take one item on their inventory list. My husband did a walk through with moving manager and said the company had taken all it was supposed to take, so, partially our fault that the item was overlooked. We packed most of the soft items, like sheets, towels, bedding, etc. We pack all our memory items, e.g., our son's ashes, special cards, etc. We should have been better organized in sorting what stayed for an estate sale and what was to be moved to our new location. They disassembled all furniture and wrapped it for moving and reasembled at moving site. Most boxes were placed in the garage, so we could unpack them one at a time without having to live in a lot of clutter as we were settling in.

The packing from start to finish took two days. On the first day their were four packers and things were moving quickly and they worked from 9am - 5pm. On the second day only two packers were sent and they worked from 9am - 9pm. I really wished they had sent more on the second day but was told they had numerous jobs going on so people were spread thin. So far we have about 80% of our goods unpacked at our destination and nothing is damaged or broken at this point. Everything we have unpacked has been packed well.
Description of Work: Full packing of our home in preparation of moving. Just over 13,000lbs of household goods.

I just finished writing a glowing review for Wheaton's local agent who arranged the move, (Breda Moving) but wanted to also write a review on Wheaton Van Lines itself, and especially George, their fantastic driver. We moved our belongings after having stored them in our Oak Park house for six months. I wasn't able to be there for the walk through and estimate and delegated to a friend. Breda was understanding and gave me a "not to exceed" estimate but included a little extra weight "just in case", so when I had to call, several times, and say I just remember something to add (the ladder, kayak paddles, duffle with scuba gear), this wasn't a problem. Even with that, the shipment weighed about 1,000 pounds under the estimate, so everyone was happy! Breda and Wheaton were also very willing to arrange the move on short notice and with a smaller delivery window than any other mover I spoke with, critical because there was only a fourteen day window between when I could get out to supervise the move and when we had to take delivery before we went out of town. As it turned out, the shipment was loaded on the 2nd and delivered on the 8th! Both Breda's crew, who did the packing of fragile items and loading, and the People Movers, here in California, who did the unloading and set up, were professional and extremely pleasant. And I don't know where to even begin with my praise of their driver, George, who is one of the nicest guys I ever dealt with. Wheaton, take note - he is a real asset to your company.

Courtesy Moving of Fresno the Wheaton Van Lines agent loaded up our household goods in Fresno, then held everything in the truck in a secure building for four weeks then delivered it promptly on time in Henderson. The owners of the franchise here in Las Vegas even came out to help unbox everything. Charles the truck driver was excellent. All the people on both ends of this move were very professional and courteous. They cleaned everything up after themselves. I would highly recommend them for any kind of move

My wife and I have moved both internationally and within the U.S. for work, and we've never been this pleased with a mover. Their quote was accurate -- no surprises. Staff were much stronger than any other moving companies we've worked with (we've worked with at least 4 others). They cared, and they were very good at communicating. Wheaton provided services through Capitol Movers in Verona, WI.
