I was told multiple times that the providers we're going to be coming out within a designed time period to clean out the gutters. Unfortunately, that never happened. I sent repeated messages and called several times - only to receive the same assurance that service would be performed shortly. Again - that never happened. Finally, as snows are threatening, my husband went ahead and did the work himself as it became clear that the service was not going to be performed in a reasonable time span. I've requested a refund twice now, and am still waiting for a response to my request. My next step is to contact Angie's List to make a complaint. Very very frustrating and disappointing experience.

An administrative or scheduling nightmare for Wellman to perform service prior to freezing weather. One of the worst experiences I have had in dealing with home service. I have two recommendations: 1. Do not use Wellman for a time sensitive job (getting gutters cleaned before freezing weather arrives). 2. Do NOT prepay for services on Angie's List for time sensitive work--even though service provider has an "A" ranking. For me, the savings were not worth the aggravation. In addition because I had prepaid, I could to pursue other service providers without paying twice. I joined Angie's List to find the high quality service providers. This experience was very disappointing and I will never prepay for a home service.

I'm guessing Wellman Exterior had an unprecedented response for their gutter cleaning special as it took about two months from payment to completion of work. The crew of four workers arrived Sunday afternoon and completed the job in about thirty minutes. All gutters and down spouts were blown out and cleared. Two were on the roof and two cleared away all the leaves and muck extracted from the gutters. The crew did a great job cleaning up before departing. I would recommend Wellman Exterior for this service, but be prepared to wait for a while if purchasing this service at a special price.

Purchased "Deal" on 21 November. Received e-mail stating I was scheduled for 1st week in December. NOTHING! The second week I received a telephone call that I would be scheduled later. 3rd week when I called, a sarcastic-tone reply was, "I am answering them in an orderly manner." As of this date, the firm has not done the contract! They either bit off more than they could chew, or they just do not know how to manage a business OR it was a scam. My wife is ready to call Channel 8 Investigative Team to see if they will respond to that! Their actions (in-action) is a discredit to them and to Angie's List.

Purchased the service on 12-07-14 and contacted Wellman immediately. Was told it would be one week until service could be provided. Wellman has made approximately 7 appointments and has failed to show-up for all of them. This was purchased as a housewarming gift for my son and daughter-in-law. My daughter-in-law spoke with them this morning and they promised to call back in an hour. Two hours later she called them and guess what??? No ANSWER!!!! Totally unprofessional. Do not purchase!!! I think these small companies underestimate the response to the promotions. They need to be held to a limit that they can actually honor.

Hello [member name removed], I would love to clarify a few things. I think there was a misunderstanding somewhere and I want to hopefully get things figured out so we can make things better. Pleas understand that there is no way for us to predict the weather. We make an educated guess, but as we all know the forecast isn't always accurate. When we tell a customer when we will be out "the week of" that is simply an estimate at best because we do not know if the debris will be frozen in the gutters at that time, or at anytime before that. When this does happen, all other jobs get pushed back and therefore push yours back. We are a small business and do not have the manpower to call everyone every time the weather changes. We are working on ways to make this communication better between the office staff and customers. As for the 7 appointments, I am not sure where that number is coming from, especially since we keep a very detailed record of every conversation we have with a customer. A week from the appointment we did receive a call from [member name removed]. I explained our situation and told him that weather permitting we will be out as soon as we can. [member name removed] understood. Trust me when i say this is not a run around, we are doing the best we can to get to all our customer especially under the circumstances we have been dealt with when it comes to the weather. As for the call, like I said we do not have the man power to call our customers every single time something changes. Also try understand, that if we do not answer the phone it is probably because we are on the phone with another customer or away from the desk and that we promptly and always return calls back as soon as we can. One of the main reasons why we have a live call center to take all our missed calls and report them back to us. As a small business we are constantly growing and learning and sometimes we make mistakes, but we work extremely hard to make things better. It is hard to explain to someone who doesn't work here and know the in's and out's of exterior works, but hopefully now you have a better idea. Thank you for your suggestion about how we should handle our business. We will take it in for consideration.

I purchased the service in early November and scheduled it for the week of the 10th or 17th of November - they were to select the date. They never showed up and finally called in December apologizing for not coming out due to "weather". They promised they would be out the following week. This did not occur either. Finally after numerous phone calls and an email they showed up and completed the work on Dec. 22. I would say that they completed 90 % of the work as the gutters are still not cleaned out fully in certain areas. The company claimed weather, which I understand when we had the early snowfall followed by cold temperatures. I am sympathetic to this, however, the lack of communication did not help the situation.

While the quickly and efficiently cleaned gutters from our house, they didn't clean up the leaves and debris that fell to the ground during cleaning. They left 30 minutes after arrival. We're pretty disappointed with the lack of professionalism and attention to detail. I won't use this company again or recommend them to friends and neighbors.

It went very well. Cameron was our service person. I told him I wanted no leaves on the ground because I had cleaned up the yard already, so he went up there with bags and put the leaves in the bags as he cleaned them. He went above and beyond.

When I bought the deal, they scheduled to be at our home the Monday before the Thanksgiving to clean our gutters. They didn't show up or give us a call. When we came back from vacation after Thanksgiving, I called and they gave us the run around. I have since called them every week and they state "we're on their list" to have service. We still do not have our gutters cleaned and are now asking for a refund as we wanted them cleaned in order to put our Christmas lights up.

Update: Discussed the situation with the owner today and my gutters are now cleaned and they tell me they issued a check for my partial refund which I should receive in a few days. I have updated my previous ratings. They did a good job on the gutter cleaning. We bought the $99 deal based on the square footage of our home being under 3,000 square feet. They said they needed additional money due to our house being larger than that. We sent them our MLS sheet showing that our house was less than 3,000, it is over if you include the basement. Although I did not understand how a basement impacted gutter cleaning we agreed to pay the additional fee. The bill included the $99 we already paid through the deal with Angie's list and we paid it in total which was our mistake, they agreed to refunding part of the money but we have not received it. I have sent multiple notes stating that it has not been received. They keep telling us that we are on the schedule for X day and then never show and also never call to say they can't make it. They have our money and also never did any work. The vast majority of the communications with Wellman Exteriors has been through Angie's list messages so we do have that history copied below. I have removed our names, phone numbers, email addresses and address but other than that this is our history of exchanges. I mailed your check today. I processed the refund weeks back through our Quickbooks accounting software and I was told the check would be sent through Quickbooks. I just checked and it hadn't been issued so I mailed a hard check today. As for the other issues they are 100% our fault and we apologize for them. I am going to explain what happened but am by no means making excuses as I just mentioned we are 100% at fault. There is no way for us to predict the weather. We make an educated guess, but as we all know the forecast isn't always accurate. When we tell a customer when we will be out that is simply an estimate at best because we do not know if the debris will be frozen in the gutters at that time, or at anytime before that time where all other jobs get pushed back and therefore push yours back. We are a small business and do not have the manpower to call everyone every time the weather changes. And the square footage is for everything above ground only, so you were correct on that. We have never had anyone ask our rep, who is relatively new, about the basement square footage. We have also never, ever had to issue a direct refund. So those two issues, coincidentally happened at the same time, to the same customer, you. We have thousands of gutters to clean every fall and everyone, justifiably, wants them done after the leaves fall but before winter, which typically leaves us with around 15 actual days where we can clean. We average about 20 complaints/upset customers out of those two thousand-ish. Nevertheless, we always try our best to get everyone's gutters cleaned when we schedule them, but sometimes our best isn't good enough, as evidenced by this situation. We will always continue to attain perfection for all of our customers and hope to eliminate these issues in the future. Again, very sorry. I would be very upset as well if this had happened to me personally.

I explained the same thing to him and said The rogers family is on the schedule for 12/16/14. He said he would pass that along to [Removed member's name]. I then called [Removed member's name] and left a voicemail explaining everything again and told her we would be out the following day. Later in the day i received a call from [Removed member's name] who wanted to cancel. I explained to him that I have talked to his wife before and told her the situation and that we will be out as soon as we can and that even earlier in the day i talked to angie's list and left her a voicemail concerning her appointment. [Removed member's name] still wanted to cancel even though i cleared up all his issues. Again, i would love to clear things up and make things better for you and I for the future! It took several calls because the weather turned unexpectedly cold and service was delayed. Never called me to tell me they weren't coming and never called me back to reschedule. I made 2 calls and after the third call I asked for a refund saying I had someone else lined up to clean. They said they would come the next day. The next day by 5:00 they still hadn't come so I called again. They said they would be here in 20 minutes, which they were. It took them about 10 minutes, using rakes, to clean my gutters. I don't know if the downspouts were cleaned but they did clean up after themselves.

Hello [member name removed], Would love to clear a few things up and hopefully resolve the issues you have with the company. As you may or may not know we ran into some pretty awful weather over a period of 2-3 weeks, which inhibited us from doing any work period. The office staff was just frusterated as you may have been during this time. Even when the weather was nice for a day or two we did out best to get as many workers as possible together to clean out gutters of various customers. Also during the time you call to schedule and the weather issues, two other ladies join our staff. I was doing my best to manage the office as well as train the new girls during our busiest time. I am sorry no one called you, that is a policy we have set in place from now on so as not to cause problems later on. As far as the day of service, you call saying you were in California and your ill sister was at the home when the guys called saying they were coming. You told your sister to tell them not to clean the gutters even though they were on there way. Not sure if there is a confusion on my end or if the story is different from what I heard. As for the service, I know and trust our works, especially the gentleman that was at your house, they would never leave a home without completing the service. If that was the case, we want to hear back from the customer right away so we can fix the problem - free to charge. Please let me know in what way we can make this better for you! Thank you

Allow me to add my F to the chorus of Fs accumulating for this hideous business. My first call to Wellman Exteriors was on November 11, 2014 to schedule gutter cleaning--"we'll be there this week or next" was the response. Two weeks went by, no show. The second call I made asking why service is taking so long to complete was on December 2, 2014--"we'll be there this week or next" was the same response. My third call was December 10 (Wednesday) asking why the work had not been done. According to Megan, "We will come out tomorrow." Now it is Friday, December 12, 2014, after dark in the p.m. STILL NO SHOW. I really dislike being lied to, strung along. Wellman Exteriors is incompetent, inept, irresponsible, rude, thoughtless. If you like aggravation, insulting and arrogant disregard of common courtesy, not to mention utter absence of professionalism, and add to that ongoing frustration, this is the company for you. *UPDATE* January 3, 2015- After my review of December 12th, 2014. I recieved 3 calls from Wellman Exteriors, despite my telling them to take my name off of any lists and NEVER to contact me in any way ever again. In the third of those calls, the caller hung up on me in mid sentence. Today, Wellman Exteriors showed up to do the work, which was never completed in the first place and naturally I chased them out. It is hard to believe such stupidity can exist in the modern world.

Purchased a big deal on October 29th for a gutter cleaning. Called weekly regarding the date the service would be performed and was constantly told "you're on the schedule for this week". Finally, after 5 weeks I called to cancel the service since it was clearly not going to be done and I needed the gutters cleaned out before the weather got too cold. Receptionist was quite rude as well and had a major attitude when I explained why I was canceling. In fact, she hung up the phone on me. Super disappointed in the lack of customer service (and lack of actual service, in fact).

Which was true every time, but every week we were hit with unexpected and unwanted weather and every time that happened we moved your appointment to the following week. As for the receptionist, which was me, I take grave offense to your rude comment as i tried so hard to be nothing but pleasent. I have also never hung up on anyone ever, especially in a professional setting. I am sorry if you felt my attitude was uncalled for and rude, please understand that i am under a lot of pressure to please customers and do the best i can to get everyone served. When I get calls from customers who proceed to raise their voice and accuse me of something of which i have no control over, I do what i can to make the customer happy and get back to working on what i can do to get things done.
