The Mad Hatter Chimney Service

I had an appointment for 4pm that day. Dave called and asked if he could come by earlier due to cancelations so the appointment took place at 1pm. Worked very efficently and took care not to dirty my house or slam doors. The whole process took about 30 minutes. Paid $139 with Reach coupon. Dave said I had a small crack but it wasn't anything to be concerned about until it became a certain size. Recommended to come back after burning 3 ricks of wood.

I called the company and explained that I had a home for sale and in response to an inspection report I needed the chimney cleaned fairly soon. They immediately contacted my realtor to set up an appt within about 2 days. They performed the work and my realtor reported that they did a good job and were very professional. I appreciated their efforts to do the work in a timely manner to respond to our preparations to sell our home.

Sean arrived precisely on time. He immediately began inspecting the chimney and was careful to not get the carpet dirty. When finished, he left a description of what he had done. He appeared to know exactly what to look for, and attempted to correct a problem he found that was beyond the scope of a cleaning. I had mentioned Angie's List when I called for a $10 discount, but forgot to mention it again when he left so I paid $149 instead of $139.

I called the Mad Hatter to have the chimney cleaned and they were able to schedule an appointment for the next day. The cleaner came exactly when they said they would, spent about 90 minutes cleaning and checking the fireplace. They were neat and the entire experience was excellent. I would recommend them to others.

They replaced two chimney caps with stainless steel so they will never rust. One chimney was not square so they had to reshape the cap to fit perfectly on our chimney. The other chimney cap went perfectly.

I paid them for the service call when he went 1/2 way up the chimney. They advised us they could not go all the way to the top of the chimney. They advised we needed to take the insert out, but we were able to get it working again without doing so.

I asked lots of questions to try to understand how everything worked and the man (I forget his name) walked me through everything and explained every detail. When they left, you didn't even know they had been there...left it cleaner than it was before they arrived!

Troy arrived exactly on time and was very professional. There was no mess from what could have been a very messy job. His equipment was well maintained.. He also was very informative about some general questions I had. I had also talked to them at the Indianapolis Home Show, and was impressed with their ratings from Angies List.

The Mad Hatter is awesome. It was a tough job for SEVERAL reasons, like the 2 additional raccoons the chimney sweep found as he was cleaning, but they charged us exactly the price quoted and went above and beyond the call of duty to help the guy from the animal removal company chase out the raccoons. I could not be more pleased with The Mad Hatter.

They were great to work with. They gave us a quote and the price turned out to be lower. They were easy to get a hold of and they cleaned up any mess they made.

Dennis Lamb, the owner, gave me the estimate and personally conducted the work. He was extremely prompt and professional. I am already recommending his company to colleagues.

Dennis called as he was running ahead of schedule and asked if that would work for me. It was about 30 minutes earlier than the appointment, but it worked out great for me as well. He was thorough, cleaned up the areas where he worked and explained what he was doing and answered all my questions satisfactorily. He was courteous, friendly, professional and thorough.

Overall - they were very professional and thorough. Did a good job explaining what they were doing and what they saw, as well as various items to keep an eye on. Also recommended I get a chimney cap. While I agreed to get the cap, they've yet to come out and install (however, they may be due to weather more than anything else).

Sean Anderson showed up right on time, explained the process, took care to cover the carpet near the fireplace, and did a very thorough job of examining and cleaning the fireplace and chimney. He also examined the exterior and chimney cap on the roof and made some suggestions for upkeep and maintenance. When I asked if some maintenance and repairs could wait for Spring, he was quick to agree and noted that the fireplace would withstand the season(no hard selling!). He also took the time to explain the damper, the ash door, and how to best build a fire(we are completely new to being fireplace owners). His notes were extensive and we got copies of everything. He was super-efficient and polite. The cost was exactly as quoted.

I loved the fact that I could schedule an appointment on line late at night. I was contacted promptly the next day to settle in on a time. On the day of the appointment, Dennis Lamb called to say he could come earlier if it worked for me and it did! Dennis was extremely personable and a delight to have working in my home. He was extremely clean about his job and very efficient. I also enjoyed being on his C-team! Thanks Dennis! I will be calling for service again next year!

I didn't realize how quickly a chimney can be swept. I didn't really shop around a whole lot, but it seems like they all charge about the same amount. The price seems high for how quickly the job is completed. The Mad Hatter chimney sweep was very helpful. He took the time to explain the parts of the fireplace and chimney, how things work, and how to start a fire properly without letting smoke into the house. He didn't seem to be rushing out the door. I would probably use Mad Hatter services again.
