The Mad Hatter Chimney Service

Mad Hatter's technician arrived on time, was courteous, and stayed focused on getting the job done. Very good experience, start to finish.

They did a great job. The duct was cleaned in about 30 minutes and has been working great since.

Everything went great. They showed up on time, cleaned out the chimney's, inspected them, advised us of repairs that need to be made, etc.

It went very well. They were on time and they werer very clean about their work.

The young man was very pleasant and courteous, and did his work in a professional manner and was respectful of the property.

Was told by phone receptionist that instead of an estimate on repair work on the outside that a chimney sweeep would be needed to determine if there are issues inside. That would cost $149. If we wanted just an estimate on outside work it would be $99 just to send someone out and look because "this is our busiest time of year." There are free home estimates only in the spring and summer. They are booked two weeks out and it is getting too cold. This is our second attempt in trying to use them and each time they were too busy.

It went great - just as it should. They were on prompt (on time), polite, clean, and did a thorough inspection with the cleaning. The tech even took the time to show me which direction would open the flue. I was very pleased that my fireplace got a clean bill of health, and thrilled that no one tried to sell me something I didn't need.

They said that they were busy and that I would need to pay them $99 for an estimate. Their Angies List page indicates that they offer free estimates or I would not have bothered to call them.

Punctual, efficient, quality work. Answered our questions about other services, but did not try to push other services.

They arrived early. We showed them the chimney and they went to work quickly. After the cleaning, they cleaned up after themselves very well and provided an inspection report that not only warned us of damage found, but the likely cause. They were extremely professional and helpful. Great job!

The owner was involved and completed and issued an estimate. He was very knowledgeable and even fixed my flue vent which was dislocated and allowing heat and air to escape at no charge. Very professional and would have liked to have used him, but the cost of the repair was too high and I am going to have to either wait or find another solution.

Great service - quick/prompt to schedule the service, chimney sweep arrived on time. He was thorough and let me know of issues that he found and provided honest recommendations and pricing. He was clean - you couldn't tell he had been there. The appointment took as long as they told me it would, efficient! Will definitely be using them every year!

We had told him that we expected an animal that had come down, and that there was a strange odor. Chimney sweeper said there was nothin in his vision, did not check behind the damper, which is where two animals had died. He did his job, but it would of been nice to know we had dead animals in our chimney. Cannot really blame the guy because they animals were not in his direct line of sight

Needed to removed air duct covers to perform all of job, couldn't do it - we live in a historic house and some ducts are behind molding that they would have had to remove. Not that big of a deal. The main issue is that we didn't expect that some duct covers would be left hanging off, screws stripped so they can't be put back on, etc. We also didn't expect to be cleaning up dust and debris all around the house. Some places are way worse than others, but overall, we expected Mad Hatter to remove the debris. They accessed our HVAC room via our walk-out basement, tracked in mud across carpet. Didn't bother to clean. Overall, not satisfied with our service from Mad Hatter. Maybe our expectations were incorrect from the beginning. However, I feel that we should have been informed that we would be cleaning debris and fixing air ducts after they were gone. Nice folks, but not a complete job in our minds. If you're up for fixing your air ducts and cleaning up blown out debris, then you may want to use Mad Hatter. I would suggest with whoever you choose you ask the questions we didn't know to ask so you can have the correct expectations.

It went great, they were able to do the work right away and they did a quality job and cleaned up.

We ended up having the change the whole furnace and flue. He was very good on the spot and I don?t have any complaints. He was very informative, professional, and easy to deal with. I would definitely use this company again.

They did exactly what they define their level 1 inspection to include. The gentleman was on time, nice, polite, knowledable, explained issues, etc... I was only disappointed due to my own expectations: I assumed the process would include sweeping ashes out of the pit under the grate as well as cleaning the fireplace glass. I can certainly do these things, and have in the past, I just assumed that after sweeping the chimney/flue, that all of the ashes would be swept out (even in the pit), and that the final clean-up before leaving would include the glass. I called the company and they explained the definition of Level 1. And I agree, they did exactly what it includeded and exactly what I paid for. So, I better get my gloves on and finish cleaning out the fireplace.

I had originally gotten my chimney swept and inspected by another company. They reported I needed costly repairs, ($5,000). and that my chimney was unsafe. I got a second opinion which disagreed with the first. They made some recommendations of work that did need done. I got a third opinion from The Mad Hatter. I needed a camera inspection but not a sweep. This posed a problem but Sean called the owner and we were able to come to a fair agreement. They told me what the second company did but with a more reasonable solution. I went with them and I am glad.

It was terrific. He was very professional and very knowledgable of his craft. He answered any questions that we had.

They came out when they said they were going to come and did what they were supposed to do. They also gave me a $10 discount.

It went great. They arrived on time, and the manager went out of his way to fix some parts issues.

They are very courteous, clean and we are very happy with them. They gave us tips on how keep the fireplace clean and how to check the cracks which helped us a lot.

I liked the fact that he was very clean. He was punctual and he was knowledgeable. I would give him an A across the board.

The representative was able to come to my house the day I called because of a schedule cancellation. When he arrived, he was very professional and courteous. I showed him where I took the dryer vent apart myself in the basement and found it 1/2 way blocked with lint as far as I could see or reach. This was too much lint for my vacuum or to remove myself, which is why I called in a professional. He sealed the dryer vent back up in preparation for the cleaning. He disconnected the dryer from the vent and put a blower in that side. Then he went outside where the dryer vents and removed the outside panels so he could access the vent easily. He put a series of very long, flexible rods into the dryer vent with a rotating brush on the end and proceeded to clean the dryer vent. Lint flies everywhere but the dryer vent gets really clean. He removed so much lint that he filled a 5 gallon bucket with it all. This explains why my dryer was taking so long to dry the clothes. The dryer vent will have to be re-routed in the future because it is too long. The long vent causes the lint to accumulate inside the vent and eventually clog it so your clothes will take too long to dry.
