Bob came out to look at my chimney chase because there was a musty smell coming out of my fireplace. A previous company had said it was a mold problem and recommended tearing down part of the chase and rebuilding. This would have cost thousands to do. I contacted Bob for a 2nd opinion. He discovered that it wasn't a mold problem, rather it was a result of shrews entering into the chase and their droppings carried a musty odor (as strong as skunk) into the home through the fireplace. The shrews and the smell are now gone. I am very grateful for his services and would definitely recommend him!

Friday after work I went to my old house, currently vacant and for sale, to find that it had been broken into and all the copper pipes in the basement had been stolen. The criminals had turned the water off to steal the pipes and then turned the water back on before they left and flooded the basement. By the time I got there, the water was about 4 feet deep. I immediately called the police and my insurance. My insurance provider said they would be happy to call a service professional for me since I was busy with the police. About an hour later a young man from ServiceMaster by F.E.S. called to say they would be out in the morning (Saturday) to pump the water out of the basement. I met 2 young men from ServiceMaster at the house on Saturday morning. They were professional, courteous and right on time! They got started with the pumping right away and I started seeing great results within 10 minutes. They said it would probably be a few hours and I didn't have to stay if I didn't want. I felt very comfortable leaving them in my house alone. Later in the afternoon they called to say they were done and had left several large fans in the basement to help the drying process and prevent mold. They would have to come back once per day to check on the progress and then pick up their fans and equipment after about the third day. They brought a lock box to put on the door and I provided a key. They made sure I was able to operate the lock box and had the code. The entire process worked exactly like they said it would and I was well informed during every step. It really could not have gone smoother! Thank you!

I called ServiceMaster by F.E.S. needing a fast turnaround which I got. They were about the third carpet cleaning I've used in this area and they are by far the best. Their price was equally competitive. They were fine. They gave me good information, gave some advise in going forward with the area and I was very pleased with the service. They seem to owrk with me in terms of the timing, meeting and service being done quickly. They re-arranged the schedule to accommodate me. The morning of the service they called because they had a cancellation so that they can do it for me earlier.

We had a water leak while we were away that resulted in significant damage on the upper and lower floors of our house. The response time of Servicemaster was very fast and we were relived to start the clean up process within hours of the discovering the leak. They carefully explained what they would do to minimize the damage and stayed until late into the night to finish the initial dryout work. They were courteous and professional -- just we needed in the midst of a stressful situation! We received daily texts on the status of the dryout and had our questions patiently answered both via phone and email. Once the dryout was complete, FES worked with both us and our insurance company to minimize costs and have a rapid repair. They provided us a timely quote for the repairs that would not be covered by insurance and were flexible to adapt it when we requested additional work be done. The folks that did the work completed it quickly. The retexturing of the ceiling was masterful and it isn't evident that we had even had water damage. The total price was less than we were expecting given the extent of the damage. Everyone we worked with was patient, courteous and very professional. We would definitely recommend them.

We returned on a Saturday evening from being out of town and noticed the water damage. We called Service Master right away and they were at our house within an hour. Not only did they start drying things up, they were able to isolate where they felt the problem was (within the walls) so that when the plumber got there he was able to fix the problem quickly and efficiently. Which saved us some money on that end. The follow up with the crew was fantastic. They either called or came out every day to check on the dry-out progress making sure the fans weren't in our way so we could function around them. They worked with our insurance company who was able to pay them direct. This is the second time we've had to use this Service Master. While I hope I never have to call them again, I wouldn't hesitate to do so if the need arose. They were always professional, knowledgeable, and friendly.

It was an insurance claim. I don't know about the price because I was billed directly to the insurance company. They actually were very quick to come out which was good. Bringing the insurance claim and trying to make the insurance companies happy always helps. They seemed to do a really good job. I was happy with the quality of the work that they did. The workers were fine. The supervisor guy who oversaw the project was very personable. He was very nice, easy to work with and very accommodating. Overall, they were good. I would use them again in the future if need be.
Description of Work: I used the services of Servicemaster Clean By FES towards the end of March to early April as I had some water damage in the home and they did the clean up. They also did the final vacuuming after all the work was done in the home. They came back and did the carpet cleaning.

They came over promptly; they offer 24 hour service. They made me feel like they had everything over control. They brought 2 guys, realized it wasn't enough and then brought more, realized that wasn't enough, and then brought more. They didn't look very professional. They came in and started packing up stuff, unorganized, and wet, and put it out in the garage. They took my main box of electricity to set up enough equipment to dry out my home. It took a month to dry the home. He claimed that we could maybe save the carpet and tile to my insurance guy behind my back. He never checked the carpet or the tile to see if it was plausible to save this carpet. It turned out during the two weeks of drying I had another opinion and he told me that with this kind of water damage that it probably had leaked to the sub floor and it probably wouldn't be saved. We had a really hard time getting the home dried out. They ended up having to leave the equipment there and stop billing my insurance because they reached their limit with how long the job could take. The workers pretty much letting me know that they were incapable of doing the job. They were actually complaining to me about wanting to go home. They do a lot of back door dealing, they kept on complaining that the home had a lot of pre-existing damage and they didn't want to fix it. The head guys have no idea what they are doing. They are very expensive for what they do. They ran my electricity bill up and didn't put anything back right, I ended up having a short in my main electrical box because they unhooked everything and were using different generators to dry out the home. They never put back the breaker switches and they had to come and put it all back together. They still haven't finished my intercom system and are not responding to me. It cost me approximately $22000 to dry out my house. UPDATE: They did not check the carpet or the pad under the carpet to see if it had padding for pet protection. When they did check, they found out it had the pet protection barrier padding and when the checked the tile between the grout they found moisture there as well. They then found out they had to remove all of the carpeting and pad and tile throughout the whole house and it extended the dry out to be more than a month and they nearly reached the maximum amount the insurance company would pay for a water-dry-out.

This was an emergency that came in late in the night. We always dispatch the on-call crew to asses, and from there we will call in any additional help as needed. Come to find out the source of the water intrusion was multiple freeze breaks on opposite ends of the home on the second story. The square footage of the home was just short of 5,500 square feet and I would say that about 90% of the home was wet from ceiling to floor. This is a 2 story home with a basement. From a remediation stand point, it is in most cases more cost effective to dry the structure than to tear out the materials. Because the source of water was clean water, we attempted to dry what we usually can dry. As the drying process continues we determine what materials are reacting to drying and what are not. When working with customers and insurance companies we do our best to take care of both while handling a large loss like this. Knowing that the cost of this dry out job is going to be expensive we always do our best to minimize cost. We do usually check the carpet pad to make sure nothing is going to prevent moisture evaporation, and in this case the pad did have what is called a pet pad and has a barrier that keeps urine or any fluids from penetrating the top. Which in turn is better to remove than to dry. We did not check this on the first day and figured this out during the drying process. Everything we chose to do on this water loss needs to be documented, backed up with reasoning, following IICRC guide lines and approved by the insurance company. My company did make a couple of mistakes which resulted in the drying to take longer than normal But this was not a normal job. For that my company thought it was only fair to cap our bill and continue the drying until all materials reach 4 points of dry standard. We presented this to the insurance to be reasonable with pricing in this situation. The prices for all work that was performed are industry standard and in this case we were using the same pricing system the insurance used. In the case of the tile that was wet, we monitored it daily and it initialy was showing progress, then after a few more days we were getting no progress. At that point we needed to inform the insurance that the tile would have to come out to make sure the subfloors were dried out properly(Also known as bound water). Once approved We also had to remove the drywall from majority of the door headers to allow moisture to release on the main floor. In the end result the home was dried out properly preventing secondary damage and also preventing additional costs to the insured and the insurance company.
