We ordered and paid for the washer and dryer online. We paid for the delivery and all of the equipment we needed. We got it on their delivery schedule. My husband even took the day off of work to be here for the delivery. Two days before it was supposed to be there we got an email saying the order did not need the equipment we ordered. They said they had to refund the whole order and recharge it. They must have just canceled it because they never recharged it or showed up. We got a survey in our email two days later asking us how our washer and dryer were working. It was a terrible experience.
Description of Work: We tried to buy a washer and dryer from Sears online.

I was very dissatisfied with them. I was having problems in less than three months. It was a six hundred $ mattress which they sold to me for 200 $ but they should have treated me like it was sold to me for 600 $. They mattress did not hold up quality wise. When I called them to complain about it they said that since I did not buy it from them they will not deal with the company directly and it was my responsibility to. I would not use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Sears for non-home warranty. I last used them for a warranty on my mattress.

The cost for the repair was covered under an extended protection agreement. It's really not the same as the warranty. I would tell them not to invest. I had a bad experience. It was something that wasn't fixed properly and the customer service over the phone was hideous. The guy that was here was pretty okay but the service on the other end was bad. My blood pressure is boiling when I say that. Unfortunately, I have the extended agreement with them and I have to use them again. A matter of fact they are coming out next Monday. Actually, I want to get rid of that appliance. The number of people I actually had talked to get my issue resolved and I probably talk to 4 different people and 3 of them I could not understand at all on the phone. It seemed they may have connected me to a different country.

Everything seemed to go good, and they appliances seem to work great. They salesman and service at the store were great. However, something went terribly wrong with the delivery process, and I don't feel that they handled that process very well.

Ben was super nice and placed my order quickly so that I could get it the next day. He said he would call on Saturday to make sure that I got the adjustment that we discussed. I never received the call, but he said he did try to call a few times. He never mailed me the sales receipts that he said he would. When I called to ask questions about the washing machine and the problems with it, he wasn't sure about the water temperatures on the new HE models as well as several of the Sears employees that I spoke with. It didn't give hot water, only lukewarm, 85 degree water, at the hot setting. He said to call a technician, but upon calling, someone finally asked and found out that the new HE washer will only give 85 degree water as the hottest! Sanatize gives too hot of water at 150 degees and taking 3 hours! I'm just wondering why Sears does not educate their sales reps on the appliances that they are selling. That would have saved me much time and effort. This new washing machine is being returned.
Description of Work: Sears Castleton appliance department filled an order for a new Kenmore washing machine and had it delivered to my home. They answered questions about the washer over the phone.

Sears was very punctual and professional on the phone and when the technician arrived. the repair was completed, and he said he tested it. 3.5 months later the dishwasher is leaking water again. I found the receipt, but most of the ink had faded. I called sears and they said they only guarantee parts and labor for 3 months. There are 2 adults in our household and the dishwasher is run at most once a week - only if we have company. otherwise, I wash them by hand since there are minimal dishes and it is faster. While the tech was great that day, I am upset at their warranty of the part after the fact. To get it fixed again, would require me to spend over $100 for a tech to come out and view the problem plus the cost of a new part. That is dissapointing.

They didn't come out; we took the dehumidifiers to them. We transported the dehumidifiers out there ourselves, which was northeast at the Sears appliance repair facility. We got an estimate initially on what the repair would cost. It took a little longer than we would've liked. When they were ready we went out and fixed them up. The two dehumidifiers that were repaired have been working fine since. Our experience with them so far has been satisfactory.

I had the repair man come out to see why my Fridge was having issues staying cool. I was not there when he came out to perform the diagnosis. He called me and told me that the condenser and the thermostat were going bad and it would be about $800-$900 for the repair then tried to convince me that it would be cheaper and easier for me to go to Sears and purchase a new unit. The entire time he was on the phone with me he was putting back together the plates on the fridge that he had unscrewed. He didn't seem too convinced that he really knew the issue and I found him very unprofessional.

The sales representative at the Castleton Sears was very helpful and easy to work with. There was a huge sale on Kenmore ovens at the time and no one could come close to their price. All items were in stock and ready for delivery. I had the installation company Sears uses come to my house to measure and inspect before I placed the order. I thought that fee would be applied to my final installation cost, but it wasn't. However, the installers were very knowledgeable and helpful. They communicated well and worked efficiently to get everything installed and working. The appliances look great and work great too.

We've were very happy with them. They sales force is very minimalist. We have a second home in Valley and we went down there and found what we wanted. The sales staff was knowledgeable but just that they have a low number of sales reps. Sometimes it could be hard to get the information you needed but they were knowledgeable. I understand they are trying to keep their overhead low but it's been a very good quality product and very durable. It's maintenance free and it's done everything they said it would.

With Sears, you have to make your appointment using an automated phone system -- no "real" person to answer any questions that you might have in advance. I gave my cell phone number to this automated system as my preferred number, but they later claimed that they did not have this number. Then, when they didn't call me before their arrival and I tried to straighten out the problem, I could only talk to the international "phone bank" -- but got cut off twice and put in a long que twice. When I finally reached someone, they were completely unresponsive ("Yes, I understand your frustration, but there is nothing I can do.") When I asked for a phone number that would allow me to speak with someone locally, they gave me the same number I had been calling. This experience with Sears was an absolute nightmare -- never again! Finally gave up and joined Angie's list and found someone who called me back immediately to schedule for the next day. I was completely happy with this local repair person. Yeah Angie's list!
Description of Work: I had scheduled a repair appointment, but they did not call my cell phone in advance as requested, so I missed them because I was in the back yard with my cell phone in my pocket.

Well, I have used Sears twice, and I have been pleased both times. They are very quick to get your car in. If they do have a wait, you can shop at the mall during that wait, which is so much nicer than sitting in a waiting area somewhere. Usually I try to time my oil changes for when I need to go to the mall for something. They do quality work, and the staff is very knowledgeable with any questions you might have. This last time when they were rotating my tires, they found a nail in one of them, and offered to patch the tire. I have a warranty on my tires with the dealership, but they were nice enough to change my tire out to my spare so I could take it to my dealership. They called me on my cell phone to ask me what I wanted to do, and if they notice something while they are working on your car, they will do that. I think their price is really reasonable for the synthetic oil, and it lasts so much longer than regular oil, plus my vehicle seems to run better with it. I will continue to go back to Sears. They have been great, much better than other places I have been.
Description of Work: I went in for an oil change and tire rotation. I use synthetic oil in my car which is why the price is $70.

They did a nice job. They were supposed to be here in the afternoon and he was here in the afternoon. He replaced my heating element; he had the part in the truck. That involved an additional service also and it was all good. He seemed very knowledgeable and he worked with Sears a very long time. I called and they sent him after 10 days. He was running really later.
Description of Work: I used Sears for large appliance repair in February. I had several problems with my dryer. They replaced my heating element which was burned up.

Some of the sales staff know more than others. The second time I went there I was satisfied that I was dealing with someone who was knowledgeable about stovetops. Sears sent two men to my home to see my present unit and price the installation.9this is standard procedure). These men told me that I had to find a unit with the dimensions they gave me or they would have to cut into my present counter at an extrta cost of a $75 dollars for each side. But these dimensions did not exist in any product I or the salesperson could find. The salesperson then told me that the person who evaluated the install said it would be difficult to do at all, and that we should just order the unit and see how the installation went. After I walked away from that , I was called back and reassured that that was not the case and that I would be dealing only with a 'standard installation' plus the extra for cutting into the counter. That was good but not great news because Sear's 'standard' installation rate of $175.00 is the most expensive of the three other places I shopped. And after all that headache it turned out that when the installaers came, the unit was a perfect fit! No cutting necessary, I did pay $50.00 extra for them to nidufy the gas line to one that would fit my new unit. The installers were very helpful and easy to work with. The displays at Sears were not as helpful as those at other stores I went to, and they did not have my stovetop on display, except for a twice upgraded model. I purchased at Sears because I found the salesperson the most knowledgeable and helpful, and because of Sear's reputation in the area of applicances. The salesperson did try to talk me up to a higher model, but that is standard, and for the most part he seemed honest. It is very important to know the product and the price before buying. Also, I got my stovetop at a good price, and it was a Kenmore, which is well regarded. I have a kenmore double oven that I am happy with. As well, it was easier for me to get help at Sears than at other stores I shopped at, Stores such as Best Buy, Lowe's and Sears have internet sites where you can compare features and prices. It you don't go in with this knowledge, it can make your purchase more expensive. I was lucky because appliance sales started the week after I started looking (when the old models were going out).

Employee arrived on time. He explained what he would do to replace garage door opener, completed the work in a timely manner. He explained specifically what he had done, pointed out specific procedures from installation manual that might not be easily understood (example- opener track was installed at an elevated angle, not level), explained operation/features of the opener, and removed old opener.
