Cheryl Nichol was our salesperson at the Sears Store in Castleton. She is amazing. She knew all the appliances, how they worked, could compare one to another, was excellent in helping us find something that was in our price range. I wish she could be my personal salesperson at other stores we shop in. We purchased a front loader washer and gas dryer, plus 2 pedestals. She arranged for delivery and the service they use is wonderful too. They arrived on time, were very careful with the appliances and my home. Chris and Ingnasious were a father/son team and they made sure both were hooked up and working properly before they left. They also explained how each worked. This entire experience was outstanding, especially after not having purchased a washer and dryer since 1997.
Description of Work: Sold us a front load washer, dryer, and 2 pedestals. Delivered them and installed them, including the gas dryer.

They did not get all of the dryer vents cleaned. I had a contractor out later on and they found a bird's nest in there. I only had 30 days to them come back out for for no charge and they wanted to charge over $100 to come back out. The two guys were great, they seemed to do a fantastic job and they were very nice. I just wished I had more than 30 days to call them back out. I was not living there at the time to check it out. But overall the job was good.
Description of Work: They cleaned the air ducts and dryer vents.

They were referred to us by a neighbor. We didn't research anybody else. It was more than what we paid at that time. They were quick. They were in and out which was great. They also had a scent that you could have. It almost like they were deodorizing your home. It almost smelled like the entire house was scented with Breeze. It lasted for a long time. When the scent wore off, the house didn't have any scent to it. It was clean-smelling.
Description of Work: We used several years ago Sears for carpet cleaning and air duct cleaning service.

My appointment time was originally set up for a window of 8-noon, then it was changed to 10-2. At 1:30, I called to see if I was still going to be seen and the customer service rep said the repairman was running late so my appointment had been changed to 1-5. At 5pm the technician himself called and said he wasn't going to make it -- Sears had scheduled him to complete 11 repair calls that day but he said it's only humanly possible to do 6. He wanted to reschedule but the first available appointment would have been ten days later. He said that if I didn't book my appointment for 8-noon, there was a good chance it'd be bumped once again. Because my original appointment had been for 8-noon and I still got bumped and I don't wish to waste another day - plus I'd like to have a working dryer - I am taking my business elsewhere.
Description of Work: An appointment was set up through their website for the repair of my clothes dryer but Sears repairman was a no-show.

Sears has avoided all responsibility for the contractor that THEY sent to my home under the SEARS name. It took $6000 worth of damage to realize that the sears name means absolutely nothing.
Description of Work: We purchased a washer and dryer Kenmore Elite set from sears in July of this year. The crew that installed the set failed to position the drain pipe at the correct depth or angle so the maximum capacity washer filled all the way to the top, then dumped out all 5.2 cubic ft of bleach water onto our carpet and the entry way ceiling (our laundry room is on the second floor). We immediately called sears and they sent the same crew back out to our home to investigate. The crew immediately said it was not their fault and the machine must have malfunctioned. We asked for a different crew to reinstall- they explained to us what the first crew did wrong. They also told us that the crews have to protect each other so we shouldnt expect them to incriminate one another. Sears subcontracts to a company called Top Hat in this area. Both companies keep pointing fingers at each other and no one is claiming responsibility and we have over $6000 worth of damage. Thank God for home insurance!

They finished it one time and didn't take very long and they're working fine since they explained what the problem was so I can adjust it if it happens again. They showed me how to do that. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I was having some problem with the door then they came in and adjusted it. I used their warranty service.

They were quick and had the work done within one day. They were by far the most reasonable priced. The technicians were very nice and friendly. They seemed to do a really good job. They even wore booties on their feet to not make a mess.

It was the worest experience I have ever had. The delivery people tried to get out of assemblying my furniture even I paid extra for it to be done. Then when I went to put the umbrella together, I noticed it was damaged. I did not pay for the umbrella to be put together or delivered. I call Sear's, and was told I needed to return item to store. I did that. The sales associate was willing to refund it, but could not exchange it due item not being in store. The problem came about it that I had applied discounts, and I was only going to receive the amount I paid for then required to purchase online again myself. This would have caused me to spend more than I did when previously purchased item. I just wanted to exchange item. They did not offer any other items, or call Sears.com. I had to contact them myself. During this process I did make the return, but had to purchase a different umbrella and had 2 pending charges. 1 being a return and the other being a purchase. I explained that was not what I wanted to happen. The sales associate was extremely rude, disrespectful, and raised her voice to me. I actually filled a complaint with corporate. Not to mention, manager would not really address me about the situation. By the way this was at Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, Indiana, and the sale's associates name was Corky. Sear's tried to make me pay for their mistake. I did not damage item. I just wanted an umbrella for my patio furniture that was not damage. After this experience I would rather shop at Target, Lowes, or Home Depot and pay a little extra but received good customer service than save money at Sears. I NEVER plan on shopping there again!

The technicians were friendly and nice. Scheduling an appointment was very easy and they were responsive. The results of the carpet cleaning were initially good, however some spots have come back since then.

The 2 guys were very professional. Installed new water heater. Did not take long.
Description of Work: Removed old water Heater and installed new one. There was a guarantee on my old heater because it was less than 5 years old. I thought they would replace the leaking old one for a new one at no cost to me. I was told I still had to pay the 279.99 which is almost the cost of a new one. Cost was for removal of old one and tax.

I suggest asking before hand what the discount is going to be for using them through Angie's List. Don't assume there will be. Also, try and get a gurantee or your money back. Shop around for different repair services. Lesson Learned.
Description of Work: Repair was originally set up in December. They came and fixed part of the problem ordered a part. Service took 2 months to get completely done. Now a month later the washer is doing the samething again. It will not complete the cycle. The repair was almost the same as I paid for the Washer 12 years. On top of that, there was no Angie's List discount.

We had actually won something at a home show and hence we didn't spend any money. They did a very nice job. We were very pleased with the service. The people seemed very attentive and listened to what I had to say. They did a Berber carpet that had never been done before. They didn't pressure me into buying something that I didn't want. I would probably use them again.

Sears charged my credit card for a total of $1374.95 for what was an agreed to charge of $274.99. Then they failed to show up for the scheduled appointment which pretty much caused me to waste at least 1/2 day so far. Their customer service / support departments will transfer you from one rep to the next, to the next. Each with a 10 - 20 hold in between. At that point the entire conversation starts from scratch. This has been a HORRIBLE experience. I just hope that I can get my money back.
Description of Work: I called Sears to schedule repair appointment for the refridgerator. Expensive Kenmore Elite unit that has not been that good. So far 3 prior repairs. Anyway, scheduled for Friday 11/1 btw 0800 and noon. After a pretty intense sales pitch, I agreed to purchase the extended service plan from Sears for $274.99. This would cover the cost of the repair plus any other repairs for one year. Imagine my suprise when the next morning I looked at my online bank acct and saw that there were 5 pending charges of $274.99 from Sears. I have spent about 4 hours on the phone with Sears trying to hae these removed. Their claim is that I have only been charged once. However my bank disagrees and says that I was charged 5 times. That's an almost $1400 hit on my account. To make matters worse, I stayed home from work this morning for the appointment and at around 10 am received a message that they would not be on time and be here by noon. I have had 1/2 day of my time wasted not to mention the issues with my credit cars. While the Sears customer service and customer resolution reps are good at appologizing, they are useless when it comes to actualling correcting these issues. They cannot understand why I am upset.

We had signed the Sears Protection Agreement, which then relieves Sears of any problems customers may have. Sears the store then claims that there is nothing they can do. Where is the customer satisfaction that they claim to have?

At recommendation of contractor, I contacted Carla Erber in commercial sales to purchase kitchen appliances. We set up an appointment to select appliances. She flexed her schedule to accomodate a weekend appointment. Carla asked if I had anything specific in mind and I told her that I researched Consumer Reports and provided her with a list. Prior to our appointment she located the appliances of interest on the floor so she could show them to us. We arrived a few minutes late to the appointment, but Carla was ready. She showed us the appliances and some cheaper/costlier alternatives. We made our selections and placed the order. It took a some time to do all of this. She coordinated the delivery date and appliance dimensions with the kitchen contractor. Prior to delivery, the credit card get's charged. My credit card fraud alert was triggered due to a purchasing pattern change so I had to work with the credit card company and Sears to get it straightened out. No big deal and not Sears' fault. There was a misunderstanding with the delivery date and the appliances were delivered on time according to Sears and a week early according to me. This wasn't that big of a deal except that I was not home to accept the appliances so my contractor did. I also paid for installation, but the appliances couldn't be installed yet because the flooring wasn't finished. Also, I only had 48 hours to examine the appliances for damage, and I couldn't access and move the appliances to tear open their boxes for inspection because they were too heavy for me. I called Carla and she worked with my contractor and sent out Sears Servicemen to unpack the appliances and move the refrigerator into the house even if it couldn't be hooked up.
Description of Work: Purchased stainless steel refrigerator, electric smooth top range, dishwasher, over-the-range microwave/hood combo, and protecton plan on refrigerator. Delivery, too.
