I bought 3 hours of handyman service from them. They did a great job!

Steve returned my initial call with a few hours and came to my home within a couple of days to begin the estimate process. I received the written estimate within one business day. After we signed the contract, the work was scheduled and performed within one week. Steve was very diligent about staying on schedule. He even delivered the flooring to my home on a Saturday to ensure that he didn't get behind schedule. The actual installation took approximately 1.5 days. Steve and his crew were very professional and did an excellent job. Our floors look fantastic and the work shows a high degree of attention to detail by the crew that did the installation. I can highly recommend Schaefer Improvements with no reservations. We could not be happier with their work.

The company and the gentlemen are great. They come in, they were very professional and they do a wonderful job. Schaefer Improvements are very reasonably priced. The boys are wonderful. I will definitely use them again.

Steve & Sean came when expected, professionally installed the kitchen sink reusing the existing faucet and disposal, and adjusted a bi-fold door I could never make stay on the track. He also emailed me a quote to fix some other plumbing projects.

It hasn't gone anywhere yet. I hadn't been in any particular hurry, but do not appreciate the "radio silence" over the last month.

The company was very courteous and quick to contact me. Unfortunately, I had to cancel the work. That had nothing to do with the company, though. Some big, unexpected pet expenses meant I could not afford the needed materials for the projects. They were understanding of the situation.

I purchased a Big Deal from Angie's List on 2/10/2014 for 3 hours of handyman work from Schaefer Improvements in Indianapolis. I am requesting that our money be refunded as we absolutely do not want to work with this company and are shocked to have had such a bad experience with an Angie's List-sponsored company. The original terms of the offer from Angie's List stated that the company would contact us within two business days. They did not. I had to call myself after nearly 1.5 weeks, left a voicemail, then received a return call the next day. We scheduled an appointment with Steve Schaefer on the telephone. My wife took a day off work to be at our home for the appointment and we rearranged everything in our extremely hectic daily schedule to be present for the appointment. Steve Schaefer told us that he would be here between 9 and 10am. They did not show up. I called at 1045, then texted and asked for an update on our appointment. I did not receive a phone call. Nearly 1.5 hours later, I received a text message that he was held up due to one of his crews being in an auto accident. We understood the unexpected circumstances and asked for an update on if they would still be coming or not and when they would be here. Instead, we received no texts, calls, or correspondence of any kind. When my wife told Steve that we just are asking for an update on whether they would be showing up at all so we could go about our lives (we have twin infants and arranging for this some kind of thing is a big deal for us), he sent text messages with an extremely rude and abrasive tone stating "Im not sure how I wasn't clear", without ever telling us if he was coming or not. Let me know if you would like me to forward you the messages he sent. Quite simply, I find this kind of service absolutely unacceptable. I do not want to do business with anyone who would communicate like this and show such a poor level of professionalism. I would like for our money to be refunded from our big deal purchase so that we can find another handyman service. I have never written a review on Angie's List in the past and am new to the service, However, after this experience I will be reconsidering how I use Angie's List and will likely be ending my membership.

Steve gave me a call when they were on the way. We did a quick walk through of the projects and they got to work! Not only did they remove the shower door, but provided caulking for the holes left from the removal. They worked quickly but were very efficient and left no mess at all. I thought I needed to replace the tracks on the kitchen drawyers but they only needed adjustment. Steve answered all my questions about possible upcoming projects. I am so very pleased with the work done and looking forward to using them in the future.

It went very well. The blinds were custom made for unsual windows. They were installed and fit very well. I had two men for one hour. The coupon was for one mban for three hours but I had everything done within the hour.

Steve and his son arrived on time. Explained what they had to do and got right to work. They cleaned up afterward and under the estimated time. The deck still looks good, and has more stability. I will hire them again for repairs around my house.

They were knowledgeable, efficient, timely, and pleasant. They earned my strong recommendation and continuing business.

He called on the 18th and said he was on his way. Since it was a little bit earlier than the appointment I called my husband to make sure he was home. I called Steven back and told him my husband was home and he could go on over to the house. He said he had stopped for lunch and was not feeling well and he would call me later in the day to see if the next day would be okay to come. He did call and we made an appointment for Wednesday. He didn't call or come over on Wednesday or Thursday. I called him late on Thursday and left a message but I never heard anything else from him. I asked Angies List to help refund my money on Friday so he never did any work.

He didn't even offer to come out and look at our job to give us a list of materials to purchase. A representative from Angie's List reached out to the provider to prompt him to call us back (that was last Thursday 2/20/14) and to this day I have yet to hear from him. I have contacted Angie's List for a refund of this Big Deal and to help me find a replacement Deal.

The door was installed perfectly, nice tight fit and sealed. Very fast service, completed in about 1 to 1/12 hour. While on site Steve and I discussed other future projects primarily replacing windows in the house. I will likely use Steve again for work.

They worked very quickly and repaired the molding/dry wall, then followed me through the house spackling all the spots and holes that needed to be spackled. I needed a room painted, and I was sure it said on the angie’s list deal that they also did painting, but I was told that they did not do painting, so they completed the other tasks in 40 minutes of the 2 hours paid for in the Deal. They said if we hired them back at full price, they would throw in the 70 minutes of time I had already paid for. This was frustrating because I had wanted the painting done, which they said they did not do, but I thought they did. What handyman doesn’t do painting?

They were wonderful. The "Big Deal" price took care of everything.

They were prompt, efficient and did quality work. They actually went to Menards to pick up the replacement storm door and brought it to the house. When the work was done, they cleaned up everything very well.

They arrived on time, walked-through everything I wanted done, then started in. They worked really fast and efficient. Cleaned up their mess, were very professional. We didn't get everything on the list done simply because I wasn't 100% pleased. Not that they did anything wrong, it's just that I'm a designer and angles and lines are important to me. They mounted my TV, which I'm thankful, but they didn't put it exactly where I wanted it...it's neither centered on the wall or on the bed, not sure what happened. It's fine though. I would have them come back and do other small stuff in a heartbeat, I just would need to make sure I was totally clear with my expectations.

My experience with them went really well. I had a list and they came in and did it right. They did it within the time period and did a really good job. They were very efficient. They came out and did what needed to be done. I didn’t spend anything extra for the job. They were on time.

I had ordered an Angie's List Big Deal for 2 pickup truck loads of junk removal. I contacted Schaefer Improvement, mentioned the Big Deal and we agreed on a scheduled for the pickup for that was a few days later. They called 30 minutes before arriving, loaded up the mixed pile of junk and were done in about 10 minutes.

I ordered the Big Deal in July 2013. There was some initial confusion regarding how the initial communication would take place. After several months I contacted the company and left a message in the beginning of December. I was contacted on the 29th of December by Steve who stated that due to some turnover in the office there had been a delay in returning communication. He stated that he would be happy to schedule the appointment with me and asked me what services that I would need while he was at our home. I informed him of the requested services and we made an appointment for 9AM on Monday the 13th of january. The 13th of January came and went and I did not hear from Steve. I called their office at 10AM that morning and did not receive a return phone call until Thursday the 16th in the late afternoon/early evening. The message stated that I must have been confused as he had me down for the 20th of January and that is when they were planning on coming to the home. Monday the 20th of January came and went and still no sign of Steve and hies company. After one more phone call that day I received a return message later that week stating that he thought that I was going to call him back to confirm the 20th and that is why no one again came to the home to complete the work. I called back again on Tuesday the 28th and as of the 31st of January still have not received a return communication.

Unprofessional. Won't finish job, won't respond.
