Schaefer Improvements

Impressed with prompt response, even on a Sunday! Quality job, will certainly call for next house repair.

This is a followup feedback I am giving. They did a good job initially, however the screen door they put in fell apart soon after it was installed. And they never returned my call nor came back to replace the door.

They did work on my house. There were a lot of drips on the bricks outside of my house which they apparently attempted to paint over and attempted in theory to wash off but it looks worse. When I hired the guy he was telling me that the previous guy had left drips all over my facade and he was like if I had hired him, that wouldn't have happened but it looks worse than it was before. I was actually really upset about it because I had it done right before the winter time so I didn't really notice it until the summer and it's bad.

I called steve up and let him know about the water heater. Originally I thought the water heater might be able to be repaired, but since it was an old water heater, it wasn't useful to repair, so he was able to get me a good deal on a water heater and install the next day. He showed up promptly with the new water heater and had it replaced very quickly. The water heater works great.

Steve was awesome. I needed 17 cabinets hung in the garage. That was the original job. After contacting him through Angies list, he was able to come out the next day. He showed up on time and worked fast. This guy does not sit around. The cabinets were new and one of them was pretty damaged out of the box. No problem for Steve. He repaired and installed it and it looks great. All the cabinets were hung beautifully in just a few hours. Thats when my wife decided she needed some things done inside the house that I had apparently failed to do. He hung 10 pictures,1large outdoor thermometer, and 2 curtain rods in less than an hour. Well worth it cause now I don't have to do it and my wife is happy! He was very friendly and professional the whole time. I would call him back in a heartbeat.

They taped off the floor boards and windows and doors. Covered a piece of furniture and the carpet. They applied 2 coats of paint that I provided. It only took about 3 hours. The painters were quick yet did a superb job. And I'm picky when it comes to painting! I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

I joined Angie's list to get a decent handyman to do some work for me. Boy did I get screwed.. I cant even get anybody to call me back....

We signed a contract on 6/11/15 with a deposit of 1800.00 and I haven't heard from him since 6/24/2015. I have been calling, emailing, and texting and he has been unresponsive. He's worked for me a few times and has done good work. Now all of sudden he is just gone with my money.

Realtor said everything was beautiful and ready for the market. Kudos, they did a great job!

I would highly recommend Schaefer Improvements. This company has improved my home on many levels from painting, AC installation, smaller jobs such as light sensors on garage doors. I think it was fine. I think they were prompt and they got in and out. I believe the price was good for the service I got. They did satisfactory work.

The two men were very helpful and patient with a tough light fixture repair. They were polite, friendly, and worked hard to successfully repair whatever I asked them to do.

The contractor showed up over an hour late on 2 occasions. Did not complete all of the work agreed upon. Did an unacceptable job on several of the work items and does not stand behind his work. Would not respond to my calls or emails after he received payment. I asked for a refund for the unfinished work and Steve would not respond to my calls or emails after he received payment. His assistants were extremely unexperienced and complained the entire time. Would not recommend to anyone.

The flooring and base boards were purchased earlier and arrangements were made with Steve to pick up the material and deliver to the house to let the flooring warm up. We set February 9 & 10th for the install. Steve was very responsive in the beginning about the date and time of the delivery as well as when he would be arriving to do the work. Steve and his crew of 2 arrived when promised on 2/9 and moved the furniture that was in the living room and dining room to one side. There were approximately 10-12 ceramic 12" tiles around the fireplace that needed to be removed in order to lay the flooring. He and his crew proceeded to hammer and chisel the tile, which scattered everywhere and left dust to collect on everything in both rooms. They never bother to cover the furniture or tv to ensure that the flying debris would not damage anything. They swept up but not enough, because when they were laying down the flooring, I found scratches in some of the sections laid that I had them remove if found soon enough, otherwise, the flooring was down for good and left with the scratches, that Steve's response was that I can buy something to fill them in to cover it. On the 2nd day of laying the remaining flooring and baseboards, he advises me that he needed more base boards because what he was using (purchased at the flooring company & picked up by him) was too warped and was not able to use it all. To add to that, the dips in the slap caused the wood flooring to show gaps between the floor and base board, so it was recommended that I buy new quarter round. That added cost was an additional $116.00. I had responded that if the base boards were that warped why use them. I could of returned them and bought where he would of suggested. He never checked the base boards when picking them up and delivering them. I had also ordered a 6 ft quarter round that matched the flooring to go along the sliding glass door. He took it upon himself to use the old unpainted quarter round that was there previously and cut the matching quarter round to put in front of the fireplace. The quarter round must of been left outside too long because when cut and brought into the house, it was too warped to put down at the fireplace. Steve stated he would have to use caulk possible. I was very upset because he never asked my opinion about what he did. The matching quarter round was not cheap. When the project was over, I asked that he come back and paint the base boards, since it was in the initial quote if I wanted to have it done when the flooring was put down at the time. I didn't but decided to work with him to schedule a time that that could be completed as well as some touch ups I noticed that needed attention: split threshold in hallway bathroom, base board and quarter round not nailed down in some areas, caulking touch up, fire place left unfinished, and other things that would be addressed when he showed up to paint. I heard nothing from him from 2/11 on. I texted him on Feb 20th about the painting and flooring issues., his response that day was that he was sick and would schedule for next week. I responded the same day of the dates I was available. I waited until 2/23 and texted him again about which days I provided him were good. He responded 2/24 that his kids were now sick and would set something up. I responded back to him that we can wait until the following week. Then on March 6th after not hearing from him, I called this time and got his voicemail and asked that he call me to set something up. I wanted to get this resolved. Still nothing. So I called him again on 3/24th leaving another message that was concerned about the lack of response and needed a resolution. Finally on 3/30, I texted him that I was very disappointed in him about the lack of communication and stated that I only wanted my flooring issues resolved and that the painting was off the table at that point. To this day, I've not received a response. I jdon't understand how someone that wanted the job so bad would call and text in the beginning and then just drop off the face of the earth so to speak. I have no other choice but to get someone out to fix the issues left unresolved by Steve.

They were very fast and I am pleased with the service. They did really good work and were very informative. The price was right and he was very courteous.

It went fine. Took two separate days to get the correct wood for the posts.

Steve's initial work was a B+. He did everything that we asked. He did the work right and he did it quickly. At the end of his work, I asked him if he could help me find a matching cabinet, as the contractor that was used before we purchased the house would not respond to any of our attempts to contact him. We needed a different size cabinet so that our microwave could be mounted. Steve said it would be no problem and he could have it in a week or so. He just needed to take a cabinet door to find a match. I have been sending him text messages and phone calls every two weeks or so. At first he would respond. Now he has stopped responding all together and he still has our cabinet door.

It went way above and beyond what I expected. Steve was extremely knowledgable and confident in what I had asked him to do when countless other handymen had said they could not do it. He was also ver prompt and came the next day to do the estimate and then performed the entire job the same day. He noticed the water heater needed new elements and wiring to pass inspection to sell our home, which he offered to fix the next day. Steve and his crew member came out the next day to fix the water heater for a reasonable price. We now have hot water for a fraction of what we had originally thought it would cost. I could tell Steve was aiming to please and He definitely exceeded my expectations! He also said they could help us fix things in the home that did not pass inspection. We will definitely be using Schaefer Improvements again!

I left two messages and never received a return call.

Experience and knowledgeable about the significant tack. Pleasant and courteous approach to customer. Timely work frame completing task. Neat, clean and concern for property of customer. Reasonably priced for the job as well as any future jobs quoted. His service was highly recommended by friend! Acceptable I will recommend His service to others as long as work is excellent quality.

I called Schaefer to come to my home and give me a quote for several items that needed repaired. I explained that we were working on a very tight timeline and needed the quote before the end of the week. He told me that he would be by the next morning. He never showed up. I would not hire this company in the future.

This job was not easy because the fan/light had to be hung from a vaulted ceiling approximately 13' off the ground. They had to construct a special box, mount that securely to the ceiling, and then hang the fan. It is working fine one year later.

It was good. They were prompt. They brought the parts for the gutters. They kept me informed all the way through.

Provider was friendly and flexible with scheduling, punctual on date of service, and did a good job hooking up our exhaust fan and cleaning up some mold from the bathroom.

The job we exceptionally well. I was so impressed that I recommended him to two of my neighbors. Both of them appreciated the job he did for them and had hired him for additional work as well. Another aspect that I appreciated was the free advice he gave me regarding jobs I decided to do myself. I will definitely hire him again
