Description of Work: Purchased a Big Deal for $99 for 3 hours of handyman work. Put on a chimney cap and repaired a socket board on the outside of the house that was rotted out.

Description of Work: They do a faboulous job . Excellent service and very professional. They even spotted that my electrical was bad in my house and said that I'm lucky that my house hasn't caught on fire. I loved the price to and great quality of work.

Description of Work: Finally! I got to meet Steven Schaefer! And I must say it was a pleasant experience. This was an Angie's list special for handy man for 3 hours I had a list of things that I wanted done, paint 2nd bathroom, and change out lights. As soon as he and his helper Sean came in they got to work right away. Painted my bathroom and it looked beautiful. They also changed out all my light fixtures that needed bulbs. He did such wonderful work, I wanted him to come back and replace my floor and floor moldings in the bathroom, along with fixing a bathroom leak, that I didn't even know I had. If he hadn't of pointed this out to me, my bathroom floor could have rotted away and caused major damage. He is coming back to finish this project. All I have to say is that he does wonderful work for a good price, but because of this you have to definitley book him early. Thank you again Steve and Angie's list. I look forward to working with you in many future projects in my home.

Description of Work: Steve and Shawn installed a ceiling fan, blinds for 2 windows, 4 smoke alarms and a programmable thermostat.

Description of Work: The spend for the service was $149 - $99 from the big deal, and $50 for time in excess. I purchased the big deal for the following projects: touch up paint around a vent that I couldn't reach (consequence of vent cleaning), repair drywall around the electrical panel, repair wood on the stairwell (puppy personalization), hang two bicycle pulleys in the garage, and repair five drywall cuts in the ceiling (consequence of dryer vent cleaning that identified a problem). The drywall work required two additional visits, thus the minimal extra charge.

Description of Work: Steve Schaefer and his team framed, built, and painted a new screen door entry enclosing our front porch.

Description of Work: I hired this company to do some patch up drywall and to complete around new shower install. It took for ever for him. to make an appt. and then was late and cancelled once on me.. I wanted to have remodeled bathroom done for company coming in in less than2-3 week and after waiting for him it took 5 weeks for me to complete. He also kept reminding me that after I purchaced to have dry wall done he removed it from his big deal. Stated he was loosing money and didnnt like doing it. ( must have told me that 5 times over all. I got tired of hearing it and told him if he didnt want the job I would get a refund and find someone else). He was not professional. Got loud and argued with me. He never covered his shoes like every other professional dose when they enter a carpeted area. Had to have supports (2x4) around edge of shower to support drywall and stated he didnt do that. should be plummer responsibility. BUT HE WAS THE HANDYMAN AND WALL FINISHER. So I had to get it done for him to finish.

Description of Work: Three boards replaced on my deck, two wooden slats replaced in my fence, gate to fence fixed to clear the ground, two inside doors shaved off on bottom, two door knobs replaced, top of yard light replaced with new sensor, reseat bedroom door so it would latch. I bought the fence slats, new yardlight fixture, sensor and door knobs.

Description of Work: He did the finish on drywall patching he previously performed. He also painted the front of my storage shed.

Description of Work: I had a rear entry door and storm door replaced due to damage during a burglary.

Description of Work: I repaired/replaced slate floor tiles that had been removed to replace a dishwasher. Existing slate floor tiles were removed in order to install a new dishwasher. I had left over tiles and grout from when the floor was installed two years ago. Steve was called to repair the area in front of the new dishwasher.

Description of Work: Family members are renovating an old house. When I purchased this service for them, they didn't know just what they would have the workers to do, but they appreciated that there would be six hours of professional handyman services available to them. As it turned out, they found that they especially needed help in putting in some new windows, so that is when they called Schaefer Improvements. The major thing the workers did was to frame and install three new windows. There may have been some other things as well, but this was the part that my family members were most enthused about.

Description of Work: We were in need of several different kinds of home maintenance work, including replacing a light fixture, replacing quarter round, repairing a wood coffee table, realigning and repairing a damaged mailbox post, reattaching a small piece of exterior siding, and hanging a heavy mirror.

Description of Work: I hired Mr. Schaefer from a 'Big Deal' on Angie's List. I spoke with him on August 15 and explained that I was having all new windows installed the week of Sept. 24th. I told him that all of my blinds and curtain rods needed to come down before they could begin work on the windows. He agreed to come at 7:00am on the 24th - the window people were coming at 8:00, but he said he could easily work one window ahead of them. I

Description of Work: I needed a handyman who could do some roof and drywall work. Steve was very responsive to my call and came out to look the job over. I asked to have my boot pipes replaced and to repair the ceiling in my bathroom damaged by the leak. He brought in another person to handle the roof while he worked on the ceiling. It took a a day for the drywall to set before painting. The boot pipes (5) were done within an hour. He also laid down some roof shingles around the pipes. I purchased some paint for the ceiling and he handled the rest. One coat of paint was done then he came back the next day for the 2nd coat. After he left, I did ask him to come back to touch up some areas on the ceiling that were missed. He said he would come back and do whatever needed to satisfy me. Terrific! After a week had gone by it rained pretty bad and I discovered I had a leak in my kitchen so I called Steve back to check the problem out. He responded very quickly and was at my house within 20 minutes. It was dark and raining badly as he climbed on the roof. He told me it was not related to the boot pipes that he had done a week earlier and that they were very secure. He then pulled some woodwork off in my kitchen to locate the pipe and to get a better assessment. In the process, there was a chip of wood from my woodwork missing as I noticed after he left, however he could have nailed the wrong side back up. In other words the chip may have already been there only facing the inside instead of the outside. Before leaving, he concluded a quick fix for the leak and that was to put a cap on the boot pipe over the kitchen area (which he said was very unusual), but should take care of the problem. He came back the following morning and worked on the area while laying down additional shingles. Steve didn't charge me for his labor only the cost of materials needed for the quick fix. In my opinion he was very accommodating and very professional. I appreciated his attentiveness and willingness to endure the bad weather.

Description of Work: Replaced the wood trim on our shed.

Description of Work: I needed 12 holes drilled to set some 4 X 4 post for footers on my deck.

Description of Work: Took all wood off of the outside of screened in porch, bought new wood, painted the new wood, rescreened and then put the wood back up. Very clean and thorough. Would highly recommend.

Description of Work: Steve and a helper tore out an existing wooden staircase leading to my backyard deck. Then, they built new steps.

Description of Work: Steve called prior to the appointment to confirm and make sure I had everything he needed to complete the work I was asking him to do. This was very efficient and made the best use of his time while he was in my home. He completed everything he could, I had purchased some items that would not work, my fault , not his. He completed everything on my list that I had correct parts for...bathroom ceiling fan replaced , complete new toilet inside parts repair , hanging new towel hooks in bathroom. He had also planned to replace tub fixtures but I had purchased parts that would not work. He spent time to look at some other projects I need help with and gave me a fair estimate of what he would charge to complete my list. I am in the process of ordering materials so that he may complete my list of to do's. He will be doing carpentry work and installing a new storm door. I was completely satisfied with his work and his willingness to answer any questions.

Description of Work: He did minor repairs like drywall patching and fixture installation. Could not complete a few other tasks but when I asked, he switched to ripping out cabinets instead.

Description of Work: I had an entry way light fixture I wanted replaced. Mini blinds hung on 11windows. 2 hallway ceiling light fixtures replaced, and 2 outdoor light fixtures replaced.
