Telephone interaction was courteous and prompt. Day of service worked out very well as they were able to accomodate my schedule. The foreman, Terry, called prior to arrival and reviewed all work priior to starting job. They used all the right equipment to get the job done, answered questions duting and after the work was finished, and cleaned up very nicely. the yard was in better shape than before they arrived. We discussed the need to cable the River birch (at my instigation) and Terry offered to do it at a reduced price that day since they were already there. They took care with my bird feeders - removing them and replacing them without any damage.

Great job! Provided expert information via the company arborist. The written report described what the problem was and what they could do for me. They agreed to a price nd a start date. They were right on time and did excellent work. No mess. Would recommend them to anyone.

We had several very large, tall trees removed as well as "spruce up" trimming of many trees in our yard. All of the trees were very close to our house and some were as tall as 100 feet. We were so impressed!!! The crew was professional and worked harder than any workman we have ever hired. They honestly worked for 12 straight hours, no slacking. They worked as a team and presented themselves as a well oiled machine. They were respectful of our yard stuff and polite as can be. They even blew the sawdust off our roof! I highly recommend them!

The company's high rating on Angie's List was one reason for contacting this company. Their bid was quite near, but higher than, the company actually chosen (A Simple Man's Tree Service). After the experience of dealing with Mr. Ping, I was quite happy that the other company provided a lower estimate. He was professional to a certain degree, but the constant interruptions to answer his cell phone quickly became annoying (and a waste of my own time). His attempt at humor was quite crass, and the boasting about the close relationship with Angie was off-putting. The worst aspect, however, was a separate bid on treatment for a tree -- an "expert" was sent out to see if anything was needed, and a bid for treatment was submitted to me for that treatment. However, all 3 of the other bidders told me that there was nothing wrong with the tree and no treatment was needed.

I was overall satisfied with the tree service, however they could have improve with the stump removal. They did a good job of cleaning up after themselves, but I feel the job was left incomplete. I wish they would have returned to address the stump rather than wait for it to rot. However, I would consider them for future tree planting needs.

Submitted request for an estimate via Ping's online services. Receive handwritten estimate at my door as well as an emailed response. I indicated that I would accept the bid and they called me to schedule the work. I opted to be flexible, allowing Ping to visit when they had a window of opportunity, without having to set an appointment. I was forewarned that it would be 2+ weeks before we would see them, and that was fine with me. They came just a bit over 2 weeks after I spoke with them, and within an hour everything was finished except for the stump grinding. They indicated that they would return in a few days to get that done, and so they did. Cleanup was wonderful, and all is well. Worked out great for us.

Certified arborist came out to examine ash tree for emerald ash borer. Arborist offered to look at other trees on the property. I agreed. He pointed out things that needed to be addressed. He gave me an estimate. Another arborist came out later in the day to examine ash tree for emarld ash borer and, in kind, examine the other trees on the property. The second arborist offered more practical and logical solutions to my issues. I had to pay Ping's $75 for not going with them given I chose the second arborist's company. I was not going to write up my dissatisfaction with Pings' until I received an e-mail from them today ALARMING me to the danger I was facing due to EAB. The text of the e-mail is as follows: EMERGENCY TREE ALERT BULLETIN!!! Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Treat It OR Lose It ? 55 to 65 Million Ash Trees are already DEAD in the Midwest. ? Hamilton, Marion and Hendricks counties are among the more than 30 counties already quarantined. ? Emerald Ash Borer is silently killing trees in your neighborhood in a very stealth fashion. ? Stealth because infected trees show no signs of infestation for the first two years. ? Waiting for signs is usually waiting too long. ? You must be proactive not reactive. ? We can protect your ash so you do not lose them. ? We have several treatments that are Eco, Child and Pet friendly. ? EAB population is growing at a phenomenal rate of 5000% a year. ? Call the EAB terminators TODAY @ www.pingstreeservice.com Call Ping?s Tree Service, Inc. 298-8482 I am glad I chose to do business with the other company. The other company did not promise or guarantee anything. I agreed that it was like throwing a pair of dice. I will take the chance of following the other company's advice on treating my ash trees without the invasive procedure Ping's recommended. I will also follow the other company's recommendations on my other trees that call for my fertilizing the trees to strengthen them from disease rather than spray them with chemicals. It is the above e-mail content that cinched my decision.

Response from SavATree Indianapolis
Dear Member, My name is Phil Ping and I am the owner of Ping’s Tree Service, Inc. I am writing in response to the six F’s that you sent in as a report on our company to Angie’s List. First things first, Sir you called our office on July the 21st at 2:22 PM and we were at your door the next morning at 10:30 AM. Now, if we were a FIRE DEPARTMENT that would not be very impressive, but since we are a tree care company, I am very proud of that response time. So, it does not seem reasonable to me for you to give us an ``F” for responsiveness and another ``F” for punctuality. What were your expectations? Bob Bushey is the Certified Arborist that came to your home and wrote up several recommendations about your tree care needs. Bob is an expert that has been trained in the physiology and biology of trees and is also an expert in the identification of diseases and insect infestations. Nothing has been presented that would refute his professionalism or wrong diagnostics and yet he received an ``F” also for his professionalism. Fertilizing your ash trees will only give the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) healthier trees to eat. Also, the none evasive method that you decided to go with in treatment of the EAB is only 60% effective on trees larger than 15” caliper. This is the reason that Ping’s has chosen to go w/ the 96 to 99% effective treatment so that WE DO NOT HAVE CLIENTS LOOSING ASH TREES THAT THEY PAID US TO PROTECT. Then, when you called my office, you were told, up front, that there was a $75.00 arborist fee to send out a Certified Arborist and that fact is undisputed. But, you were told that we credit the fee back when you have any of the recommended work done. We do not want to charge an arborist fee but we cannot pay trained professionals to do diagnostic work and have them take that information and go somewhere else with it free of charge. Sir, your comment that we charged you $75.00 for going with another company is a total misrepresentation of our policy. Then there is an additional issue about the “Emergency Tree Alert Bulletin” that our company sent out to potential clients. I am the one that wrote that bulletin and I assure you that I am an authority and that there is not one sensational item on it anywhere. I am an expert on the Emerald Ash Borer and you obviously have no knowledge and yet you feel qualified to commentate on the subject and further slander a highly rated Angie’s List company. No one in central Indiana, in the tree care industry, can top our 11 years in a row as Super Service Award recipients. Angie’s List is no farce and there is a reason that we have attained these coveted awards. The pen is mightier than the sword only when the pen is writing the truth. The truth is that the Indiana Department of Natural Resources has already quarantined ALL of Marion, Hamilton, and Hendricks counties check with Scott Kinzie w/ the IDNR. The major universities are all stating that if you live within 15 miles of a quarantined county that you may also be at risk. Dave Barras of Channel 8 News whose ash tree we have been treating for 3 yrs, was on site with one of our crews and Mike Webster our superintendent of operations, another Certified Arborist, (we have 3 and most tree companies have none) and in real time the Channel 8 News crew filmed the emergence of EAB and when I told Dr Sadof about this, he said the infestation is even worse than he thought. On Monday Aug 2, 2010, I spent no less than 30 minutes on the phone with Dr Cliff Sadof who is the head of entomology at Purdue University and therefore the states foremost authority on Emerald Ash Borer. Dr Sadof said, “Phil in 5 to 8 years as this main infestation passes through central Indiana, there will not be a single living ash tree left behind that is not protect with insecticide. We will have a 100% kill on unprotected trees.” Ping’s Tree Svc is already removing ash trees in Hamilton and Marion counties that have been killed by Emerald Ash Borer. I am also a sitting member of the Indianapolis/Marion County Tree Board and have been for 4 years. On August the 10 our Tree Board Meeting was moved to Sahm’s Park, east of Allisonville Rd and 91st St to witness first hand, as a Tree Board, the destruction that is already present there. Dr Sadof was also in attendance at this meeting where we were told that the park has 584 turf trees and that 202 of them are ash trees and some are already dead and hazardous and that in the next 2 yrs that most of the remainder will die. Jeff the City Forester said that the city has no monies to treat the trees. There are several web sites that offer extensive info on the Emerald Ash Borer. If you cared to, you could research those sites and get up to speed on how devastating this insect really is. I am confident that your post, though intended to hurt me, for some unknown reason, will work for the good of our company and our community. http://extension.entm.purdue.edu/EAB/ I have been a Certified Arborist for many years and it is my business to know the urban forest business and I assure you that I am doing my job as a consummate professional. In fact, I’m going to give you the Paul Harvey version, so you will know the rest of the story. The really devasting facts are that there are 2 more waves of insect and disease that are on their way to Indiana. Right now in Tennessee, coming from the Rocky Mountain States at a blitzing speed is the Thousand Canker Disease that is killing all of the Juglan family, Black walnut are in that group. Then Dr Sadof further stated to me that in Massachusetts the Asian Long Horn Beetle is killing trees and that it would be here in the next 6 to 8 yrs. This insect is killing the Maple family. We may be looking at an urban forest without Ash, Black Walnut, or Maples. These are the facts, they are undisputed and grim enough without any sensationalism. Straight F’s Member, unbelievable!! Why would you be angry about us telling you the truth? Have a good day. Phil Ping Certified Arborist In 1359A and owner of Ping’s Tree Service, Inc.

I was very happy with them. They followed up and I was very pleased. I had got a couple of other quotes and they were reasonable in price. They were the lowest of the three, but they gave good service. They seemed to be very conscientious. I also used them for spraying a couple of fruit trees.

Great service with great employees!
Description of Work: A strong wind took down a large branch on my Ash tree, and unfortunately cracked the tree trunk down the middle about 2 feet. After looking at the tree, Ping recommended to take the tree down as the rest of the tree was unstable. They came and cut down the tree and removed all cuttings and branches while I was away form the house. A couple of days later Ping came back and grinded the stump and only left a small pile of wood mulch. This is the second time that I have used Ping, and I highly recommend them for any tree service that may be needed.

I will admit that I was very apprehensive about hiring someone to remove two trees from our new home. After hearing stories from others about tree service companies that never show up to do the job, or worse yet, take the money and then do half the work, I resorted to Angie's List. I contacted five different companies and received estimates from three [two never called back to schedule]. Ping's was the first to respond and they were extremely professional. We received an estimate promptly and even got a follow-up. All three companies were very close in price, but we felt that Ping's were the most prompt and professional. When I called to schedule our service, they came out the next day and completed all the work listed in the estimate. For having two trees removed and several branches cut down, there was hardly any waste. They did a great job at clean-up and our yard looks so much better. Plus, our neighbor is happy that our tree doesn't rest on her roof anymore! I would most definitely recommend Ping's to anyone looking for tree services.

Although the ground was hard and dry that day, they layed-down plywood sheets before driving trimmer vehicle onto our land. We were very satisfied with the entire project.
Description of Work: Trimmed 2 large tree branches over home on one tree and trimmed 1 large branch over home from another. They chopped each branch into smaller pieces, then removed all to a shredder and shredded all in a truck in the street, in front of our home. They even raked the twigs and leaves and dumped all into the shredder truck. VERY nice work.

When I first called and asked them for an estimate, they came promptly the next day, and left the estimate on my door. A few days later, I called to make an appt to have them do the work. The woman who answered the phone told me to sign the estimate and make any notes regarding specific instructions and cross out any of the work we didn't want done...and then mail the written estimate to them and they would call me back and make an appt. I thought that was a strange way to do it, but I did as she asked. One note I made on the estimate is that we would like to have the stump poisoned to prohibit new growth. Well...they simply never called me back. A month later, I called them on a Thursday and she immediately scheduled me for the following Thursday...no further instructions. Our agreed upon estimate was $385 which included a coupon from Angie's list. When the three men arrived that Tuesday, they were very professional and quick about their job! I have no complaints about the men who cut my tree down and cleaned up the mess. But when he was writing out the ticket, I learned that poisoning the stump was an extra $30, which no one had told me. It wasn't alot more, but it added to the lack of professionalism I had already experienced with the people in the office who handle making the appointments.

It was a painless experience. I had an immediate response to my call and had service scheduled within a few days. They crew was great despite my adding to the job. The clean up was immaculate, the trees look great and I can even tolerate looking at the yew that was trimmed (not my favorite shrub). The best surprise was that I was told I would probably have to wait a week for the stump grinding but it was done that afternoon. I asked about having some scrub removed and was told if I waited until winter when work was needed I would get a discount. As there is no hurry to remove the scrub I will wait until winter and will certainly call Ping's. My experience with Ping's was outstanding.

The estimator arrived on time and gave a detailed explanation of what they would do. The tree trimmers arrived on time and completed all the work quickly. They cleaned up after so we could not tell they had done any work. When they were completed, they walked us through the yard and described additional ways to improve the trees. When scheduling the appointment, they put our job ahead of several others already on the schedule because we had storm damaged limbs down in our yard.

I sent an e-mail to them for an estimate for trimming the trees in the back of our lot. What we got instead was a list of ~$1,000 worth of tree removal suggestions. We are looking for someone who wants to work with us in the long run not make a quick buck by cutting down a bunch of trees. When I called to discuss this matter I told them my concerns and was told that it was fine if I went somewhere else. So we did.

They gave me a very reasonable price for the additional work. They did excellent work. They also cleaned up all of the debris that was everywhere from a recent storm in addition to the debris that was caused by the trimming. They did a fantastic job trimming and cleaning up my lawn.
