They are big around here and they know the people. They just did a thousand dollars worth of job for us. I’ve had a lot of work to do. I know they are on Angie’s List because they have coupon. I got a discount for using them in the winter. They are very professional. They are insured and bonded if a tree falls on your house. They communicate. They get back with you always. One time, we had them take down a tree and part of it fell on our gutter, which was new. I reported it. They had that thing replaced within a week. They were very responsive. They are a very reputable company. I recommended them. They maybe pricier than somebody who comes door to door but you get what you pay for. I have used a coupon in the past. Their price is competitive.
Description of Work: We use the same tree service and we used Ping’s Tree Service. They did a tree service for our big trees.

I responded to a winter price (15% off) email, and their quote to remove the maple tree was considerably less than the lowest of several other estimates. We found them to be very responsive to our calls or emails. They kept us apprised of their scheduling. We had no time frame, so we left it up to them when they would come do it. One small negative is they did not inform me in advance of when they were actually coming, which I thought they were going to do. It did not affect anything except I kind of wanted to be home to see them do the work. When I got home, they and the tree were gone. I don't know what they drove between the street and the back yard fence, but it turned all the grass brown. I expect it to be fine by spring. They broke one slat on the fence, but promptly fixed it. They moved some solar path lights in their route to the tree so they wouldn't be harmed. They cut the larger pieces up into firewood size pieces and stacked it all. They cleaned up all but the smallest branches and a ton of sawdust (and few larger pieces that had stuck in the ground when branches fell that were still sticking up in the frozen ground). We had asked them to cut two 'biscuits' - thin slices from the main trunk - and leave them for us to make a project from them. They did not do that originally, but when I mentioned it, they were responsive and the job got done. We were pleased with the experience. Even though there were some minor negatives, they were taken care of promptly and effectively. We recommend them for your project.

Five (5) people arrived at a few minutes after 8 am (extremely cold that day). One was a tree climber to cut down the tree in sections. Second person helped place sections on ground after first cut and using a chain saw cut sections into more manageable pieces. Three (3) people moved these sections from our back yard to the front where the trucks, with chippers. Since this tree was located in the backyard and across a water easement everything had to be hand done. The worker were here till 4:30 PM. A few weeks later the people with the grinding machine came. They had to place heavy duty supports across the easement along with plywood. They got the machine to do the work, carefully protecting a garden bench that couldn't be moved as well as some garden statues. The original estimate had been done in the summer. At that time the estimator recommended a winter removal to protect the grass and and soil from damage. Then when the bill arrived we received a discount winter price.

After requesting a quote from Ping's, Mike Webster came out and took a look at all the tree work I needed (removal, trimming, or deadwood removal on 6 large trees), providing a quote for each item, and indicating they were currently offering "winter rates." Mike seemed knowledgeable and the quote was very clear and professional. I received quotes from other companies and Ping's prices were competitive when the winter discount of 15% was applied. Ping's would not apply the 5% Angie's List discount in addition to the Winter Discount, which is available to anyone. While this is understandable, it is worth noting that Angie's List customers therefore receive no special discount at Ping's during the Winter months. I opted to only remove the two trees I was most concerned about, and approved this with Ping's, requesting a call 24 hours before the service was performed, as I wanted to point out the location of my septic system near one of the trees. I never received a call, and two weeks emailed Ping one morning to ask for a time frame. Received a text message later that afternoon from my wife indicating that Ping's was on site and starting work on the trees. I was in a meeting and was not able to get back to her right away, so she told them my instructions as best she knew, and they got to work. They brought a large crew and lots of equipment. They quickly removed both trees, disposed of the brushwood, very nicely cut and stacked the remaining wood for me, and did an excellent job of cleaning up both worksites. When I arrived home from work they were finishing up, and one of the workers told me that they had dropped the tree away from where the septic was. Upon inspection, they had dropped the tree away from where the septic access was (as my wife had told them) but it did fall on top of where the tank extended underground (which could not have been guessed by the workers). It doesn't seem like there was any damage, though any damage may take time to manifest. The workers did an excellent job overall, and the drop location was simply due to lack of communication. I received a follow-up call asking how everything went, and when I relayed the lack of communication, was told someone had logged a call and message to me the day before. I checked my phone and even looked at my online phone statement and I received no calls or messages from Ping's. I believe they may have accidentally dialed the wrong number, or forgot the area code. They indicated that they made the follow-up calls to check on these things and "make it right" with customers, which is nice, but they offered nothing in the way of making it right, just sent me my bill (as quoted). Overall, Ping's work was top-notch, and if their prices are competitive, I would probably use them again in the future for major tree work, despite the communication issues.

They seemed very efficient and professional in their reviews so I choose them and they pretty got down to what we asked. We did have a discrepancy. We asked them to remove a tree stump that was left behind by the previous owner and it ended up not being able to remove it because it was close to a willow tree but ended up doing it because they had already quoted me a price for it. So even they were not able to fulfill the whole quote they were able to do something above and beyond and that I appreciated it. Even though they were not able to remove the stump, I understood why and they were able to do something else. Price wise I really would not know since I did not get too many quotes for that.

They got me an estimate right away. After I agree to the estimate I found I could have got the job done a lot cheaper but was now under contract. They did not come back to do the job for something like four or five weeks later. When I questioned why something live was being cut the worker got rather argumentative about it. They got the job done and cleaned up but did leave behind a set of work gloves which necessitated me tracking down the workers to come and get the gloves.

Very happy with the service. They were able to get to our job when other services weren't even taking orders. The roots were grown all over that portion of the yard and they did a good job of getting all the roots and leaving the area level and cleaned up. The workers were very nice and professional. Would definitely use again, especially for larger jobs.

The way they did the service impressed me. The clean up was excellent. As far as cost the service was in line with others I have had in the past but due to the height of our trees. The manager made sure the quality of the trimming was done to specifications and not just cut at random. They were very aware of what the final product should look like and how we wanted it to be done. They followed through with all the work as planned. We had less than perfect weather and they were able to do the job thoroughly and cleanly.

They took a lot of care to not damage our flower beds while doing the treatment. The tree that was removed was right next to our deck. The deck has a four foot railing with lattice work. When the the technician cut one large branch it took a fluke bounce and punctured through the lattice work, I was about to have a cow! The technician was very reassuring he had already called the office by the time I had gotten outside and the office was quick to respond to the issue. They actually paid to have a repairman replace the broken lattice work. This was unbelievably professional of them and was no hassle to me. I had gotten good referrals from a couple of friends and decided to give Ping's a call and I ended up getting a good service.

In mid-November, I requested estimates from two of Angie's highly rated tree services to remove a dead paw-paw tree from our yard. The tree was intertwined with a living buckeye tree. Both companies sent someone in just one working day. I actually chose the provider (Ping's) that was slightly higher because the estimate was so detailed that I knew exactly what to expect and could tell that the bid was responsive to our requested service. Jay, who did the estimate, left a hand-written copy with us, and we received an email version a couple of days later. I was told that their crews were working 6-8 weeks out. We weren't in a hurry so that was fine. They offered us the option of performing the work when they were able without advance scheduling, to which I agreed. To my surprise, I was alerted to the crew's availability just one week after I accepted the bid. The area with the tree was not easily accessible with any form of vehicle, but the tree was small enough that that posed no problem. They cut it nearly flush to the ground, leaving the stump. They then trimmed and shaped the buckeye, removing lower limbs that extended low over a walkway. They cleaned up nicely leaving only small scattered twigs that I raked later. I asked them if they would mind throwing a pile of sticks that I'd accumulated from the yard into their shredder, and they were happy to do so. A couple of days after the work was performed, someone called from Ping's office to find out if we were completely satisfied, and I indicated that we were. We've used several tree services over the years and Ping's was by far the best. PS - They also offered a 5% Angie's discount.

Their arborist arrived as appointed and surveyed a number of trees. He recommended that we remove some, keep some, and trim some. Their quotation arrived by e-mail the next day. They provided a window of dates in which they would do the work. A week later they advised us if one date was convenient. They arrived on time with a large crew that eventually swelled to about six or eight. They had four vehicles including one very long crane, one with a chipper, etc. Because of the location of several of the trees adjacent to the house, four of the trees had to be climbed by an expert tree climber who took the tree down piece by piece, and the crain carefully lowered each piece to the ground. In one instance in which a large tree was hollow and hence to dangerous to climb the crane was somehow connected by cable to the trunk of the tree, and the tree was cut by piece by piece from the bottom up. I observed these and was convinced it was a skilled and professional crew. They were careful throughout. They put plywood on the ground wherever heavy equipment had to roll. They covered all windows with plywood which they leaned over the window; loose limbs or whatever could break a window. They cleaned up meticulously after the job. In two instances they suggested taking down a dying tree which the arborist had not identified to be taken down. I inspected these and signed a work order to do the extra work. The whole job was managed well with no dead time and still took over ten hours.
Description of Work: They removed a number of dead, dying, or potentially dying (Ash Trees). Most of these were very large and in very difficult locations, including within feet of the house. They removed all the debris.
