Rod's Quality Concrete Inc

It was difficult getting this company scheduled for a quote, but I persisted because they can highly recommended by a neighbor. After multiply calls, Kevin made it out to quote. It was the lowest cost (but not by much). The quote wasn't detailed and I didn't feel like I could confidently give them the job and think it would go smoothly.

I am very happy with the work and service Rod's Quality Concrete provided. I mainly dealt with Kevin, Rod's brother. I obtained three quotes for the replacement of two sections of my driveway that were badly deteriorated. Roughly 250 sq. ft. RQC's quote came in substantially lower than the other two quotes. As a result, I was able to expand my project a bit to fit my budget and I ended up being able to replace more concrete than I had planned on. Kevin gave me that quote on the spot while out at the site for the first time, we had the date for work set within 48 hours and they got me on their schedule only about 10 days out. Work was completed in a day and a half. They were flexible, didn't nickel and dime, and worked with me on a few tweaks in the plan. We were all done and settled up payment-wise today and they even called me to let me know they were sending a crew back to my house to cover the driveway in plastic as it looked like it might rain. Overall, RQC was straightforward, no fuss, and no hassle. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone.

Rod's Quality Concrete was recommended to me by a friend for a stamped concrete patio install. I contacted them and Rod's brother, Kevin, came out and gave me an estimate a day later. I asked him how far out they were booked and he told me 3 weeks. I waited for 3 weeks and I hadn't heard from anyone to schedule our install. I contacted Kevin and he said they would be out the following week. I waited another week and didn't hear anything so I contacted Kevin again and he told me again that they would be out the following week. Another week went by again with no contact. I called Kevin again and he said they had been pushed back due to the weather and that they would be out the following week. Another week went by and still nothing. Contacted Kevin again and he gave another excuse about the weather and again said they would be out early the following week. Monday and Tuesday went by still with no contact. Called Kevin on Tuesday afternoon and he said he would have a crew out on Thursday. Thursday came and went with no contact. At this point, we had been waiting for 2 months. That Sunday I started searching for different providers. I contacted R. G. Concrete on Monday, they came out and did the estimate on Tuesday, started the install on Wednesday and we're finished by Friday. I am completely appalled that I waited 2 months for Rod's Quality Concrete to even call me to schedule when R.G. Concrete got the entire job done from start to finish in less than a week.

Both Rod and Kevin were very professional during my conversations with them. Kevin was out doing the work that day. They were on time, on the day they planned on being out. During the removal of the old portion of the driveway, he determined that we needed to shore up the new portion over the culvert with an additional 2" of concrete to prevent any issues with cracking. He still honored our original quote but wanted to do it the right way. Seems like this is hard to find nowadays and is much appreciated. Even still, the price was comparable to other area contractors. All work was completed within the same day and it looked amazing. Exactly what we were looking for. Great job!

I am pleased with the section of sidewalk that was replaced but extremely dissatisfied with the quality of the driveway. They were very responsive to my calls prior to doing the work but have been extremely difficult to reach regarding my dissatisfaction now that the work is "completed". The last I heard from them, they were going to have someone from Sagamore Concrete, the concrete supplier, look at my driveway on June 27th to see if power washing and resealing it would somehow fix the pits, large imperfections and crumbling area of concrete, I have not heard back from them...

The quality of the paving was excellent. He placed rebar between current patio and new section so the new section would not sink. Had a finisher come the next day to make cuts in the concrete so any cracks would follow them. All concrete developes cracks. The only problem I had was convincing him to fill in the 8 inch wide and 4 inch deep trench that was around the patio. He called this landscaping and he was just a concrete man. After a little convincing that this was just completing the patio he filled the trench in. Now it looks excellent.

I contacted Rod's Quality Concrete for a quote in March to remove and replace my driveway apron and a few areas of sidewalk. Kevin was very responsive to my request for a quote. He came out right away and was very friendly. I wanted this job done in June while we would be gone on vacation so we wouldn't have to hassle with not being able to use the driveway for a few days. I contacted them 3 months in advance to ensure I would get on their schedule in plenty of time. We communicated about the job when it got closer, I had 811 come out and mark the lines. Kevin was supposed to come out and pick up a deposit check but he never did, so I told him leave it on our pack porch. We came back from vacation and nothing had been done. I immediately texted Kevin, but he didn't respond. I called the next morning and left a voice mail, no response. I called him again the following Monday and this time he did answer. He said they had gotten behind, etc. I told him I completely understood, but didn't understand why no one had communicated with me. I asked him if they were still interested in doing the job and he assured me they still wanted the work and would be out later in the week. Well, it's been two weeks and no one had shown up. No one will answer my texts. I sent an email it the company email address and no response. What a waste of everyone's time. Very disappointed.

Rod and his team built a new patio in our backyard. Rod and his team did a nice job with the finished product. The crew was professional and did everything possible not to damage our lawn. I would recommend talking to Rod if you are considering a concrete project.

I called their listed number and left a voice-mail. The next day they called back when I was not available, and they didn't leave a message or try to call again. A couple of days later I called them again and spoke to someone and made an appointment to get an estimate. This evening they did not show up for the appointment and never called. Very disappointing and aggravating!

I have been a member of Angie's list for nearly 10 years and this is the first negative review I have written. I obtained 3 estimates in the spring of 2014 to have a sidewalk and 2 small concrete patios replaced. Rod's bid was in the middle so although the company did not seem the most professional, I chose them base on other reviews. The work was performed later that summer. In early winter of 2014, I noticed that 5 consecutive sections of the front sidewalk and patio had both cracked (horizontally and vertically in the same sections) and flaked off the top. I had not used salt or chemicals on the concrete and had barely even walked it. Rod Vore, the owner, came out that winter and agreed that there was no apparent reason for the concrete to have cracked. He said they would come back out and take care of it for me. I called constantly through the entire 2015 season to find out when they'd be out. My messages were either totally ignored or I was told multiple times and dishonestly (by both Rod and Kevin) that they would be out. I called until the weather was cold (12/1/2015) at which time Kevin left me the following voicemail: " I appreciate you calling me. I haven't forgot about you. Cold weather will be passed here in a couple days, then we'll get started up again. I did get your message and thanks for calling me". I began calling again starting in 2016. I called both Rod, the owner and Kevin, his brother. Again, I was both ignored and lied to. Yes, they could be out that week. I'm still waiting. If Rod's Quality Concrete actually did quality concrete work, I would not be writing this. I understand that concrete breaks. A skilled concrete company, though, should know how to effectively place joints to compensate. MY FRONT PATIO AND SIDEWALK HAVE MULTIPLE CRACKS AND DEFECTS IN 5 CONSECUTIVE SECTIONS. My house is over 50 years old so settling cannot be blamed. It is not the customer's responsibility to assure the concrete mix is correct. Poor workmanship is the responsibility of the company and a reputable company would take ownership. Refer to the similar Angie's List review posted 10/6/2014. Rod's Quality Concrete can attempt to defer the blame for the concrete quality as they wish. Their lack of honesty and integrity, though, is inexcusable and they are solely to blame. The owner himself has not honored his word. The company has had every opportunity to make this right and yet they continue to be deceptive and lead me on. The company never billed me for the original work so I had to call in and give them my credit card information. It is ironic that I was the only honest person involved. On a side note, the crew that did the work rinsed their equipment in the culvert that runs under my driveway, leaving a thick sludge that I could only partially remove with a hoe. Rod's Quality Concrete has their money and that seems to be all that matters. I'm left with a sidewalk that looks worse than when I started and a pond next to my driveway each time it rains. If you expect good customer service and quality work performed by a company with integrity , I strongly recommend hiring a different company.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the service I received from Rod's. I called on a Monday afternoon to schedule an estimate and spoke with Kevin (Rod's brother). We scheduled an estimate for Tuesday morning, but Kevin called me right back because he became available to do the quote on Monday afternoon. I accepted the quote on Monday afternoon and was told that the job would be done by Saturday, depending on weather. However, I got a call first thing on Tuesday morning that the crew was on its way, and by By Tuesday afternoon, the job was done. I couldn't believe how responsive Rod's was! I don't know if I just got lucky because the company was doing at least one other job on my street that same week, but I'm thrilled they could fit me into their schedule, and I would definitely use them again.

I called to schedule an estimate, like I've done with several other contractors in the Indianapolis area and mentioned where I lived, which is about 20 min from Indy and he screamed "no!" And hung up on me. So rude and unprofessional. I don't live far from Indy and all the other contractors I talked to were happy to work with us so I think he was just being lazy and rude. I would not recommend this company!

I was impressed by the hundreds of positive reviews, so I called on January 21 to schedule an estimate for repair of my porch. I told him that he could come either Monday or Friday of next week. He didn't show up on either day and didn't call. I contacted him again the following weekend, and we agreed he would come on Tuesday. Again he failed to show up and hasn't called me. I guess with all of those great reviews he has more business than he can handle.

Could not have been better. The patio and sidewalk look fantastic. Professional all the way.

I first called Rod's phone number listed on Angie's List, and left a message. On their recording they gave Kevin's phone number, so I contacted him on Nov. 09,2015. He said he would come out in the late afternoon of Tuesday,the 10th. On the 10th, when he hadn't shown up or called at about 6pm, I called him. He said his brother had a heart attack, and he was at the hospital, but he could come out on Thursday, the 12th, after 4pm. On the 12th he did not call or show up again, so I called him. He again said he was going to see his brother in the ICU, but would come out on Monday, the 16th after 4pm. AGAIN, he did not call or show up.At this point, I did not bother to call him, and figured if this is the way they do business, I didn't want to rely on them. With this method, and the contrast of this to the A comments in Angie's List, I wonder why we were graced with such poor service.

Professional, can't say enough about the workmanship.

Completed job as promised. Quality of finish is excellent. Competent professionals used high tech equipment (laser levels) to plan out site. Very courteous. Cleaned up job site.

Overall experience and final work product was very acceptable. Kevin and construction crew were pleasant to work with. Kevin explained project, estimated it was a one day job, and gave reasonable cost proposal. I had rejected proposals from other contractors because of their higher price or lack of follow through of my questions about their process. It took a couple of weeks to establish a work date and then when the original scheduled date came, the designated crew was still finishing another job, so by early afternoon, we mutually decided to start the next day. The crew started first thing in the morning next day and completed the job by late afternoon. I had a few questions during the day about various aspects of the work and materials used that were courteously answered by the foreman or by calling Kevin who was always available via cell phone. Cleanup was acceptable. The next day, a worker came by to spray down the slab, cut the control joints deeper, and perform any other cleanup that I requested. He was very thorough. I would recommend Rod's Quality Concrete.

Price was very competitive, even better than asphalt/concrete as it was originally Workers are very clean, quiet, don't smoke or swear and are hard and steady workers Kevin suggested some designs for the porch and walk and the designs turned out great. Very pleased with sales, design, workmanship and price

Kevin was great to work with. Took our design and made it happen. They showed up promptly, prepped the area and were pouring concrete by lunch, Finished the concrete by end of day, came back following day to power wash and sealed it. Looks awesome and would hire Rod's Concrete again.

I met with Rod in the afternoon and his men came the next day. They were very professional and knew exactly what and how to do it. I was a contractor for 50 years and know Quality when I see it. They have all the necessary equipment and can do anything in concrete Heavy rains came and his men waited until it stopped and then they had to go over it again. No complaints at all

Rod came first thing In the morning, introduced his crew and explained what they would do that day. The drive was removed and the prep work was done to prepare for the concrete. In 2 days, we had a wonderful new driveway. Each night the crew would clean up any mess they had made. Rod continued to check in with the crew and both would inform with us as to what would be done with each part of the work. We can't say enough how pleased we were with the work and politeness of Rod, Sergio and the rest of the men. If ever we need concrete work again, we would call on Rod.

I contacted Rod about getting a quote and he was quick to return my calls. Rod does choose to use texting a lot to communicate and while this was at first unexpected I was happy with the communication method. Rod shared that texting allowed him to easily keep track of information and allowed me to have written record of our discussions. Rod seemed extremely knowledgable about our job needs and offered sound, good advise. He was also very personable. He was quick and prompt, but not rushed. I was even more surprised at the great price he offered. What might appear as the worst part was how long it was until the job was actually started. For those reading this, June-July was a very wet month in Central Indiana. I wasn't in a rush to have the work done and am a very patient person. However, it was 3-4 weeks between the initial quote and when the work started. Sadly, there wasn't very much communication during this time. I ended up having to call Rod to make sure we were still moving forward. I knew there had been a lot of rain and I figured they were backlogged, but having some communication might have made me feel a little more comfortable. This is why I dropped Responsiveness a little bit. Rod apologized that they were behind due to all the wet weather and was able to give me a good idea of when they might be able to reach my job next. Once work began, things moved along quickly. I think it's safe to say Rod and I were both a little nervous about what we might find (or not find in our case) underneath the porch. For context, our home is 90+ years old and the porch had cracked significantly. But there wasn't a clear view to know what was supporting the concrete porch. Once Rod's men started their work they quickly discovered that our porch was partly held up by old, rotted wood and partly by nothing at all. It made for a potentially unsafe work environment for the workers. The primary guy in charge did well sharing the gravity of the situation and how this was going to change how long it might take to complete. He did well assuring me that the job could still be completed. What was a pleasant surprise was that there ended up not being any set back in schedule and everything was still completed on time. In the end, over 30 tons of gravel needed to be brought in to fill the porch void. It was a bigger job than I think either parties expected. Rod's team members were very friendly and informative. They did great reaching out to me when there were questions about specifics and it was very easy communicating with them. I also was left feeling confident in the skill and competence of the workers. I feel as though my job ended up being a little more than Rod and his team expected but this did not deter them delivering beautiful results in the fastest way possible and was glad the initial cost of the quote was left unchanged. I would certainly recommend Rod to anyone looking to have come quality concrete work completed.

Owner Rod came to our house and prepared a quote on the spot. We had 3 other quotes and Rod's quote was competitive, and less than a quote from other well known people doing concrete work in the area. We had an unanticipated time constraint for our project, and basically needed to have the work completed within 3 weeks from the time of quote. Rod worked with us to meet this schedule, and in fact was able to come a little earlier than was scheduled. It was a reasonably large project just for a home concrete replacement and Rod's crew was able to complete the work in 2 days. Rod was able to utilize some small construction equipment which made it go quickly. Even after the crew was at our house, one of the lead-men had a design recommendation that really enhanced the appearance of our walk from what we had in mind. This was done with no added concrete, so there was no added charge. Overall we have been very satisfied with the appearance and quality of the work. Of course concrete must hold-up for a long period of time, but we have had no indication so far that this will not be the case. Everyone who has been here since and has seen the work all say it is great. We are very happy the way our project turned-out.
