+ 0 moreRod personally came out and delivered an estimate, explaining that the old porch would have to be jack-hammered out. When I called to hire him, I learned May was the earliest his people could be out. My house was due to be listed in the middle of April, so he shifted his schedule so my work could be done April 13. He arrived with his crew and offered a fresh idea: over-pour the old porch higher than it had been, and add a step to the front. His people went to work and four hours later it was done. The proportions were perfect. Rod personally came out the following day to check on the work. It looks like a million, and my house is showing beautifully.

+ -1 moreAfter requesting 4 different quotes, Rod was the first to respond (within a day) and his quote was very reasonable. After viewing the quality of his work at a few locations, we selected Rod for our project. Rod's crew did a great job and were very attentive to detail and quality plus they cleaned up everything very well when they were done. Keith (Rod's crew leader on my project) was very helpful in answering my questions/cpncerns and has over 30 years experience with concrete as well as being a magician on a Bob Cat. Within an hour after they finished my project, we had compliments from 3 neighbors on what a great job the crew did. I would and have recommend Rod's Quality Concrete to anyone needing concrete work.
Description of Work: Remove and replace 986 sq ft driveway, 48 sq ft front pourch, and 115 sq ft front walk with 4" fiber mix concrete with hand tooled plus saw cut joints, and seal after decorative finish.

+ -1 moreThey made nice cuts to remove the parts that had been broken up. I called on Thursday and he came the same day to give a quote which I was very impressed with. I picked him because he had very high ratings on Angie's List. I really thought I didn't need to go any further because I didn't have any competitive bids. He adjusted the price of the original quote according to the extra work that had to be done and I was very comfortable with the price increase. I spoke to him on Friday and he asked when I wanted to start and he sent someone the same day to start. They finished the tear out on Friday and would have poured the concrete on Saturday if it were not for the rain. He put scoring lines in the concrete and said that if there were any cracks they would be along the scoring lines. I was impressed that the workers were very polite, professional, nobody was smoking and they cleaned up after themselves very well. Rod was very straight forward, honest and a pleasure to work with. I wish every businessman was as straightforward as Rod.
Description of Work: I hired Rod's Quality Concrete to remove and replace a large portion of my driveway, sidewalk and apron to my driveway.

+ 1 moreRod was really responsive to my request for a quote (came over to provide the estimate within 24-48 hours), always easy to get in touch with throughout the process, and his team did a great job. Despite having a driveway that was too narrow for their dump truck, they were able to haul everything in a bobcat from the back of the house to the road without damaging any of the existing landscaping. The concrete looks great, the work was done punctually, and Rod's price for the work was the very competitive relative to the other contractors we had bid on the job. I would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: They poured an approximately 350' sq/ft extension to our driveway that included a patio area, and built a new step up to our front porch. Also removed the existing gravel that the new concrete was to replace.

Description of Work: Rod did concrete work at 2 of my rentals involving 2 sidewalks, a porch and some garage work. + 2 moreOur bottom front porch step had cracked and a chunk had fallen off. Rod removed the bottom step, and repoured the exposed aggregate concrete step. He also power washed the entire front porch, and resealed it. He power washed and resealed our whole driveway, also. We have several landscape bushes and plantings that were immediately against the front porch and the guys did a beautiful job with not touching those at all. When they were all done and cleaned up you couldn't even tell that they had been there, other than the front porch was restored to it's original state! Both of these jobs were done top notch! Would definitely recommend them for any concrete needs. When I called his cell phone to coordinate the work, or to ask questions, I either reached him directly or he called back immediately.

+ -1 moreWe had requested a quote from Rod's Concrete because a friend in the neighborhood had their driveway redone by Rod's and they were happy with the results. We needed about 1/2 of our driveway redone due to cracking and pitting over the years (the driveway is over 50 years old). We contacted Rod's Quality Concrete for a quote and he was the lowest of the two quotes we received. They came out the day they promised. In about 2 days, the old driveway was removed and the work was completed. I am very happy with the work. The crew was courteous and worked hard to complete the project. Rod was professional and he stopped by several times to inspect the work. I would use them again!
Description of Work: To tear up about 1/2 of our driveway and replace with concrete. The driveway was over 50 years old and cracking.

+ 1 moreRod was very quick to respond to our request to provide an estimate to replace our front steps and sidewalk that was falling a part. He showed us samples of his work and gave us advise on what would look well with our front stone facade. We wanted oval shaped steps similar to the original ones on the house but with a larger landing and wider steps. Rod explained the entire process. His team arrived very early and were great to work with. They answered any questions we had about what was being done throughout the day. The entire job took a couple of days because there was demolition of the original steps and sidewalk involved. Rod and his team got it just right. The exposed aggregate he recommended turned out beautiful and matches great with the house colors. We get compliments on our entryway all the time.

Description of Work: Rod built a new sidewalk with handicapped curb cuts along a 3 unit small commercial rental bldg. He was the first to return my email with a call, offered to meet me onsite to review options, was early to that and a subsequent appt and was totally knowledgeable and professional. The price was $3700 which was the lowest bid of 4 that I rec'd after selecting 8 to quote. The others were all almost double. He was the only one that suggested meeting me on site. The other three quoted w/o a face to face meeting. At the "in person" meeting he pointed out considerations I had not thought of so I was very appreciative of his coming to view the property with me. He also suggested he talk to a city official re current code before he quoted because the possibility of my being "grandfathered" was present. He did so in a timely way and I acquired valuable new info from their meeting. I thought that was above and beyond service! When Rod was on site with me he talked to the tenant who was there at that time regarding her convenience and explained exactly what he was going to do and how long her customers must use her rear door during the drying process, so that was great PR. The work was done as promised and both I and my tenants were quite pleased with the result. He removed the old concrete and left the area spotless. This experience was the most professional of any I have had recently in upgrading my building. He was the essence of dependability and reliability which I seldom experience these days, not to mention the tremendous cost saving. It was a refreshing experience because it was all done at my convenience with no negatives and I saved thousands of dollars to boot. What more could I ask!!!!

+ -1 moreRod came over on a Monday to give estimate and had crew there on late Wednesday afternoon tearing out old concrete and framing. Thursday concrete was poured in the morning. Voila....job was done! We were very pleased with the professional job that was done. The crew was very nice. Best of all, the price was very reasonable!

Description of Work: A 460 foot patio (4 to 5 inch depth), small fire pit, and 5 foot walkway was installed on the back of the house. The concrete was 4000 psi, exposed aggregate, and rebar (#4) was used placed every 2 feet in both directions so that a rebar grid was formed before the concrete was poured. The price also included the delivery of 10 tons of gravel for the base of the patio pad.

+ 0 moreIt required approximately one and a half days to break up and remove the old concrete. Then the crew formed it up. The driveway and sidewalk were then poured in one long day. The crew worked together efficiently and were responsive to all of our requests. Approximately one month later they came back and sealed all of the concrete. We were very satisfied with the job.
Description of Work: Rod's crew removed the old driveway, sidewalk, and step. Then they poured a new sidewalk, driveway, and new steps. Wire mesh was used in all areas. The area of the driveway was 1750 square feet. The sidewalk was four feet wide and approximately 75 feet in length. Downspouts were run under the sidwalk, and pop-up drains were installed in the yard. A month later they powerwashed and sealed all of the concrete.

Description of Work: Rod's Quality Concrete completely removed existing asphalt driveway and bordering rocks and hauled all the debris away. His workers were punctual, neat, and very polite. The new driveway was larger than the previous one, and its course was slightly different. Rod and his workers followed our instructions for the new configuration completely. The design they created for the new aggregate driveway is very elegant. It is very well banked so that it drains easily. Rod also powerwashed and sealed the finished product!

+ 1 moreAll went well from start to finish. There were no surprises or disappointments. This was a job done at my Mom's house. My Mom is very particular, and she likes to be right there when the work is being done. Rod and his crew were very careful with her flower beds and landscaping. They even put a drain in that would drain water away from a low spot in the yard. Rod and his crew were very kind and respectful to my Mom. The concrete work done on the driveway, patio, and sidewalks looks great! They did a nice job of cleaning up. Rod worked right along with his crew, and then returned for a follow-up visit upon the completion of the project. He also sent two of his crew back, after the concrete had cured, to move a heavy concrete bench back to its place on the patio. Mom and I both feel that Rod was very fair and honest - no hidden costs, unexpected charges, doing exactly as he said he would - and fulfilled all expectations of a quality job. Mom is very pleased. (This is really saying something, as my Mom is quite particular.) The quality of work is excellent and the result is beautiful. Mom and I, both, would definitely recommend Rod's Quality Concrete to anyone needing concrete work.

We had even prepped our walk and patio and it was still hard to find someone to do this work for us at a reasonable price. I knew the minute I met this guy, I wanted him to do the work. He came out the same day and his estimate was really good. He gave us a $700 discount for prepping the ground work. They came within the week to do the job and he was on top of everything. He made sure we were happy and continued to check with us to see if there was anything else he could for us. He really wants to please his customers and he’s goes above and beyond. He makes you feel like you are his only client and the most important client that he’s got. I would highly recommend and would use him again.

+ 0 moreRod made an immediate contact after I had learned about his company from another source. He gave me an estimate and references on the day of my appointment. I then started my search on Angie's List. I identifyed 5 contractors including Rod's and contacted them for an appointment. Three of the five retruned my invitation to bid. I never heard from the other two even after several phone calls. The only other active bidder was Van Croshier who would have been my second choice because they also were very responsive, submitted the estimate in a timely fashion and provided references. If I had not decided to use Rod's Company I would have selected them and feel they also would have delivered a quality job.
Description of Work: Poured new driveway and added new sidewalks. Old driveway surface was gravel. Rod never bugged me as I was doing my research. I looked at several of his jobs along with those of the other active bidder and made my choice based on quality, service and price. My job was completed in one day, which I thought was amazing. The work was top quality and it met or exceded my expectations. Rod's crew arrived on time for the date that was scheduled and worked from 8: 30 a.m. till 8:30 p.m. Rod came back 3 times to supervise the progress of the work. The company returned two days later to do the final cutting of the concrete. Rod and his crew were very responsive and did a quality job. I would use them again if I ever need any additional concrete work.

+ 2 moreRod poured an exposed aggregate sidewalk at a school in our area. We had been talking about replacing our old concrete patio, but weren't quite sure what we wanted to do. My husband saw the exposed aggregate sidewalk at the school and gave Rod a call. My husband had already made a sketch of what we were thinking of doing when Rod came to our home. He made some additional suggestions for the plan, including adding an area for a fire-pit, which we had not really considered. We felt his price was reasonable, and scheduled an installation date. His crew was very professional and hard working. Unfortunately for them, it was one of the hottest days of the summer, at that point! It is a two tiered patio, so they spent a day and a half on the project. It is beautiful! We are very pleased. Unfortunately for us, it has been too hot to enjoy it yet!
