Rod's Quality Concrete Inc

I originally contacted them and they called back very quickly to set up an appointment on Labor day. He didn't call and didn't show. He did call me the next morning and I reminded him of the appointment that he didn't show up for. He apologized and we set up another appt for Friday. Rod called Friday morning and told me he wasn't sure if he could keep the appointment and if not he would try to show up Saturday. He never called me back at all to follow up on Friday or Saturday. When the contractor doesn't communicate and has a few no shows, it gives me little confidence in hiring him.

When we contacted Rod, he returned our phone call promptly and arranged a meeting with us within the next few days. After looking at our property, he provided us with a quote immediately - and it was by far the most reasonable price compared to the 3 other bids I already got. We hired him that evening. His crew came out 2 weeks later and the job took approx 5 days. Although Rod was not always present, he was reachable by cell phone at all times. The final product was excellent. His crew was very nice, however, I did have a problem with them after their 2nd day - They left food and drinks on my property overnight. I went outside after they left to inspect their work, and I found food wrappers, empty cans, paper bags, and chicken bones on my lawn. I was mortified! I called Rod immediately and he came out that night. He was apologetic and assured me it would never happen again. And it didn't. My only warning to other clients is to be prepared for your lawn to be beat up. It's not Rod's fault, it's just the nature of concrete work. Their heavy trucks and machinery will produce indentations in your lawn and expect some of your grass to die. And concrete will fall on your lawn and leave a mess. I was a bit shocked to see the condition of my lawn after the huge patio and walkway was poured. However, our outdoor living space is beautiful and our grass is growing back! Would definitely recommend Rod. Don't waste your time with anyone else!

Overall it went well. Rod and all of his workers were very pleasant, courteous and knowledgeable about their work. Job site was always left clean and all work was completed as promised. (took about a week however it was all planned in advance and the crew communicated daily activities routinely). Workers stayed late to stay on track and worked well. Any questions we had we called Rod and everything worked out. He even came out to measure and plan the work out twice before starting.

Rod came by the house, took measurements, talked about what the job would entail, and ended up giving us a quote that was significantly better than the other 3 vendors we asked to quote the job. We were impressed by his referrals and his professionalism. His crew showed up on time and had the demolition done in short order. Rod showed up to inspect the work and discuss the forming of the new drive and back patio. He allowed us a lot of freedom in designing the curves even as they were putting in the forms, and had some really good suggestions for how to enhance the look of our design. All his workers were very accomplished and made the installation look amazing! After it was completed and there were a few corrections needed, Rod was willing to come back and fix things, which we really appreciated. He was great to work with and we would definitely recommend him to anyone needing concrete work.

I phoned "Rod's Quality Concrete, Inc." on Friday. August 30, 2013 at noon. I received an answering machine and left a message with my phone number asking for an estimate on repairing my concrete driveway. Within FIVE MINUTES, I received a return phone call from Rod himself. I asked when he could come to my home and give me an estimate realizing that we were going into the Labor Day Holiday. He asked if in about 8 minutes would be convenient because he was currently in a nearby neighborhood putting in a new drive. There was NO PRESSURE. He told me he could come any time and day of the week that worked well for me. I told him that "sooner" was better than "later" and he appeared at my home almost before I could hang up the phone. My major concern was replacing the section of concrete that was flush with my garage door where there were huge gaps from deep cracks that allowed mice; snakes; spiders and other assorted "critters" into my garage as well as copious amounts of snow and rain. I had just replaced the garage door hoping to correct the gaps but that did not help at all. The quote for replacing the first section of concrete was $1,800.00. Since the rest of the driveway was in really bad shape (just for comparison) I asked the price for replacing the whole driveway. He told me it would cost $4,000.00. Immediately I asked the following questions: 1.) Why is it only approximately 50% more money to do the entire drive verses just the small area...Answer...a major part of the cost is getting all the equipment transported to the job site. 2.) What caused all the huge cracks knowing that there are no trees in the front yard and that tree roots (the usual culprit) were not causing them...Answer...the driveway had been poured into only 6 huge sections which does not allow for flexibility during freezing; thawing and normal settling. 3.) With the Holiday week-end, how soon could the job be done...Answer...You pick the day and we'll be here. Jokingly I responded with how about doing it "today" and to my shock Rod told me he would have his crew there in 1/2 hour and the job would be done by sunset. His crew came and worked non-stop in 95 degree heat NEVER EVEN TAKING A BREAK. I decided to do the whole drive with a 20 year guarantee and within 7 hours the driveway was complete with every bit of dubris cleaned up (not even an empty water bottle to be found). Rod came back several times to check on his crew and I stayed inside never being bothered by any questions. I ended up with a beautiful twenty sectioned driveway verses the previous 6 sections that easily cracked. I am a very "Type A Perfectionist" that is extremely hard to TOTALLY please. I can honestly say that Rod and his crew are true craftsmen that take personal pride in a job well done. There is not one single thing that could have been improved upon. I now am the proud owner of the most gorgeous; splendid; magnificent; resplendent; superb; impressive; stunning; flawless; impeccable; sleek driveway that I have ever seen. Three neighbors have already phoned me to find out the phone number and name of the contractor that I hired to redo my drive. I am totally ecstatic and truly appreciate "Rod's Quality Concrete, Inc" for their time and effort. I only wish that I could hire Rod to do all of the remaining home improvements that I have on my list that need to be completed before inclement weather sets in. Great service for calling on a Sunday.

Everything went well, and the work was completed as promised in two days. My only complaint is that they arrived five hours later than scheduled, and there was no contact during this time. I would have appreciated being told that they were running late.

Work was scheduled to begin early the morning of Friday 8/23/13 at my parents home. Both are elderly and had waited a couple of weeks for their driveway to be installed. I'm their son and was there at 7:00 am so we could go over everything before the work was started. No one showed up and at about 9:00 am a call was made to find out where they were. Rod informed my mother that one of his workers was badly injured the day before and he was at the hospital all night. He said that they would be there around 1:00 pm to begin. Once again, no one showed up. At 3:00 pm a call was made again and the job was cancelled. Total lack of professionalism or consideration for the customer! Pretty sure the injured worker was just an excuse!!

I was very impressed with the quality of work. We had a few bumps on getting together. When we did they came early and tore out my driveway. Which we only had 40 feet replaced. Which was most of the drive. We were amazed that they got it tore out and replaced in one day!! When I got home from work. They were just starting to pour the concrete. I could'nt help watch them do there work. Had I known they were to tear out and re pour that night We had a large pad that we used to park our cars on, it was not damaged.. However Rod suggested that we power wash our existing drive and have it sealed. I live on Kessler Blvd E Dr.

Rod had talked to my wife last year and gave us an estimate to do concrete work.I also had talked to him several times this year (2013). However, I had to continue calling him (over several months) and asking him when we could get together and discuss the work, and he said he would come out again since it had been such a long time since he had given us the estimate, but he never did. So after several phone calls and text I decided to move on because Rod continued to show me that this was not important to him. Based on his actions or a lack of he does not seem to value a potential customer and the sad thing about it is he was also referred to me through another business. Since I don't know Rod I will not provide my address that's why I selected providers location but based on the reviews you can see his actions have been repeated with other potential customers.

Rod (and his worker) did an excellent job and completed the job as promised in two days. It looks great and will be, hopefully, well protected against the seasonally erosive forces of nature for years to come.

After agreeing on price and schedule, crew showed up on time. Work was performed to my satisfaction.

Rod's crew arrived early during a heavy rain, and worked 6 hours in the rain. They demonstrated they have they right equipment and know how to tackle any size job. On the first day they removed the driveway and sidewalk with a Bobcat that had tank tracks. Then they added dirt for leveling, set the forms for concrete. The second day the concrete was poured and dressed nicely, and the cleanup followed. All of Rod's workers were very courteous. All of this quality work was done at approximately 30% less money then two other "A" rated contractors.

Rod was absolutely great. He was very professional and friendly. His crew was very professional. His price was the lowest of several companies that I researched on Angie's LIst. Our neighbor had her driveway done 5 years ago and it cracked in 1 year, Rod put in more stress joints ( not sure if that is what you call it) . Our driveway looks great. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. I would use him again!!

My calls were never returned...

Rod himself responded to our initial inquiry promptly, and was great to deal with. He gave us a prompt estimate, advised us carefully about the design of our project, and was up front about the time it would take for us to get on their busy schedule. He actually found a way to get us done sooner than we had expected. He was very fair on price. I have dealt with other contractors in this area before and this business is overwhelmingly better than my other experiences. The other thing you will notice about Rod is that he empowers and trusts his crew. His employees are treated with respect, and they respond by performing well and showing that they enjoy their work. Every person we dealt with was polite and disciplined. They are encouraged in their faith, and it clearly shows. I would not consider using anyone else for future work.

We were given an estimate, and a start date. The night before the start date we confirmed with Rod that he would be there the following day. The day the work was supposed to start he did not call or text to tell us he was delayed. We contacted him, and he said that he would not be coming on that day. However, he apologized and said that he would be there the following day. We have not heard from him since despite multiple attempts. Now all the patio companies are booked up, and we are going to have to wait until at the very earliest fall. We wouldn't have minded a delay, but just a no call no show is unacceptable.

He did a beautiful job. His estimate was half the cost of the nearest estimate. He put in a 5 inch thick driveway, seperated into sections, and sealed the driveway twice.

I requested a quote almost a month ago via their website and never received a response. Even if I did at this point it's too late a bad impression has been made.

My experience overall has been fantastic so far. He has been really easy to work with. The crew is very efficient and professional. His suggestions have also been very helpful. He has handled any surprises with the driveway very well.

I called Rod's Quality Concrete on June 18th and explained that I needed some concrete leveling done and I asked him if he did this type of concrete work. He said yes, so we set an appointment for June 20th at 5:00. About 4:30 he called and said he was tied up on another job and couldn't be at my house until around 8:00 - 8:30. I agreed with the new time. He said he would call when he was leaving the other job. He didn't call he just showed up at the house. When I showed him what I wanted leveled, he then told me he didn't do that type of work, but he could tear the concrete out and replace with new concrete. He wasted both his time and mine by saying he could level the apron of the drive on our 1st contact, but then said he couldn't when he came for the estimate.

Agreed to complete the service, agreed to a price, set a completion date. Disappeared with no call back after multiple attempts.

Went well. Removed all old concrete and blacktop in one day. Poured all concrete next day, broom finished and sawed & hand tooled joints no more than 8" span, then saw cut next day. Sealed all concrete. At least 2 visitors at our house that are in the construction business and/or retired were impressed with the workmanship. His prices are very reasonable and the work is excellent.

Rod is an outstandingperson to work with. He honored a price quote that he felt he may have underbid. His employees are professional, courteous and did a great job.
