It went very well. The crew was hard working and focused. Quality of the work was really good and, with only two guys there most of the time, they were done pretty quick. They came back and cleaned off some overspray that we found and filled and painted over some new bee holes that developed after they were done. So far so good. The goal was to eliminate woodpecker damage on a cedar sided lake house. Hopefully this produce will deter them. We've absolutely tried everything else! I'm considering getting a quote on their decking product for the rest of the wood around the property.
Description of Work: Painted entire house and cabana with the Rhino Shield product. Caulked and filled all areas that needed it. Asked them to repair and replace under cover and cedar siding on 1 1/2 sides of house to fix woodpecker damage and try to prevent future problems.

Wood replacement is something that have access to. You can contract independently at a set rate(material receipts and labor) with the crews that we have with carpentry skills. Typically this is a more affordable alternative and helps offset the Rhino Shield investment. Rhino Shield has proven effective at preventing pesky woodpeckers and carpenter bees. By providing a waterproof barrier, it eliminates the wet wood that attracts the bees and then the woodpeckers. We have discovered that they may return the following year, out of habit, but usually not after that. We cannot warranty against them but we do provide service should they return. Look forward to the new deck product in 2015 as well!!

This company was very responsive to our initial concerns. We had a redwood sided home that they initially painted. The redwood did not take the paint and peeled and blistered. It was a mess. The company owner came out to take a look and agreed with us that it was terrible. He offered to pay 1/2 cost to reside our home and repaint for no cost. We agreed. Now our house looks great. They were extremely ethical and excellent to work with. The foreman for the job was punctual, agreeable, and respectful.

This member reviewed the current situation in Feb, 2013. Their home had issues that were simply not correctable. We felt it was important to correct the problem, incurring a loss, but delivering on the promise to "Never Paint Again". We appreciate the cooperation, patience and understanding in finally getting it right.

From the time Rhino Shield visited us to explain more, until they were finished, we were highly satisfied. We were very impressed with the salesperson and her knowledge of the product. We had many questions and she answered them all. We were a little hesitant because of the price, but when we divided that price by the 25 years it is guaranteed for, it was something we knew was a great investment. When the crew arrived (always on time and showed up when they said they would be here) they were courteous, knowledgeable, and cleaned up every night (I told you we had a lot of painting - it took them 5 full days to complete). After the crew was done, they walked around with us and did any and all touch ups. There weren't many, I am just a nut about any work done (mine and anyone I hire), and they went above and beyond, even if I was wrong about a touch up. They never said a word, just did anything I wanted to make the complete and my family happy. Thank you Rhino Shield - our visitors and neighbors can't believe how nice the house looks. The Shanklin Family Lake Shafer Monticello, Indiana
Description of Work: For years we dreaded painting our very large deck (with spindles) and boat house. It was very tedious and exhausting. I visited a home show and was introduced to Rhino Shield - a paint that is supposed to last (and is guaranteed) for 25 years. We called Rhino Shield to learn more.

Although the price was a little higher than staining my house, I had found myself staining my house every 4 years. When you take the price of staining every four years, I am actually saving thousands of dollars. It is great that this is something I don't have to worry about as there is a 25 year warranty. There is no question I would do this again if I bought another house with wood.
Description of Work: Painted entire exterior of house that needed painting including gutters, foundation, soffits. They also pressure washed the house first, then caulked and filled holes, primed the wood and then painted again.

I signed a contract with Rhino Shield (actually called ProCraft at the time, but later the name changed Rhino Shield and still owned by Jim Williams) in December of 2001. They replaced rotten cedar siding and completely repainted the exterior of my house. The house was painted in the spring of 2002. The contract included a 25 year transferable, non pro-rated warranty. Within five years, the paint started to flake and peal in multiple places. Therefore, in 2007, Rhino Shield repainted the house. However, after pressure washing the old paint from the house, the workers wanted us to pay for additional siding that they said need to be replaced because it had rotted even though supposedly all of the bad wood had been replaced in 2002 (which is what the contract called for) and the entire exterior had been covered with their paint. I told the workers that I wanted to talk to the owner, Jim Williams, before paying for the additional wood. When I returned home later that day from running some errands, the workers had removed their scaffolding, ladders, and equipment and had abandoned the job. Because Rhino Shield had already pressure washed the house and stripped off most of the old paint, the cedar was exposed to the elements and the house looked absolutely terrible. I was eventually able to convince Rhino Shield to replace the rotten wood that they had either missed the first time around or that their product failed to protect. They came back out and completed the project. However, the paint looks thin and of poor quality. We have even had others comment on how poor of quality the paint looks. Additionally, although the garage doors were clearly included in the original contract and the 25 year warranty, Rhino Shield would not repaint the garage doors unless I paid them additional to do so (which I did since I was already having problems with them and just wanted the job completed). When we had the house repainted in 2007, we changed the colors slightly to colors that were not supposed to fade. (We had never been told in 2001 when we signed the contract that the paint would fade.) Because we had some gutters an exterior door replaced, we needed some of the paint touched up in 2011. I called Rhino Shield and they sent out some of their subcontractors to do some touch-up painting around the trim of the door that had been replaced and to repaint the gutters that had been replaced. Even though it had only been four years since the most recent paint job and we picked colors that we were told were not subject to fading, there was a noticeable fading when the touch-up was done (even though leftover paint from the 2007 job was used on the 2011 job). The subcontractor told us that in "a couple of years" that the new paint would blend in with the old and that it would not be as noticeable. After two years, the difference is still noticeable. Also, when painting the gutters, I had to point out several spots they had missed. They also splattered paint on my porch and sidewalk, which they did not clean up. From our experience, Rhino Shield paint does not last 25 years and the quality of the job is inferior to a quality paint job of normal exterior paint. Additionally, the Rhino Shield paint fades, making it difficult to match if any changes at all are made to the house. Therefore, the statement, "never paint again" has not held true for us, even though we paid several times what we would have for a normal, top quality paint job.

We regret that this member was not pleased with the work performed by ProCraft back in 2002. We believe this review is misplaced, as it is critical of the original work done by ProCraft, which is in no way affiliated with Rhino Shield (other than the fact we helped this customer out with some warranty work after ProCraft went out of business). This review isn’t critical of Rhino Sheild paint; it is ProCraft paint which has faded. Please see all of our other great reviews for a more accurate representation of our quality of work and level of customer service.

We are pleased with the result!. The men who did the work, Matthew Warren and Chris Curtis, were hard working, pleasant, professional, and kind. They cleaned up well. Our only concern was that the white trim paint appears slightly bubbled. We asked about it at the time it was applied, and we were told that it would smooth out when it dried. It did not. The appearance does not really bother us, and if we had been told that the chemical composition of the paint created that slightly imperfect appearance, that would have been fine. We will surely recommend - and have already- Rhino Shield to others.

I don't know about the quality of the Rhino Shield product, but it does seem to me if it is guaranteed for 25 years it would be pretty good. Although it is not cheap, if it lasts as long as advertised I would say it is worth the price. The salesman who came after i called for an estimate was prompt, courteous and knowledgable. If things would have worked out differntly, I probably would have been satisfied with my Rhino Shield experience. What I do know is that I spent $900 and received nothing in return The wood siding on the top half of my house needs some repair and replacement and then painted. I heard on the radio an advertisement for Rhino Shield that would take care of painting for 25 years, and they were running a sale at 10% off. I called and had a representative come out, look over the situation and estimate the cost to provide their service. The one page estimate was complete and included everything that would be covered. The price given was for that day only. To lock that price in would require a 10% down payment and i could schedule the service anytime within the next year. I had not contracted for any repair or replacement work as of yet but would expect to get it done shortly, so it seemed everything could be worked out by that time. So i signed the estimate and provided the 10% down payment to get the sale price. My problem starts with the fact that i did not read the fine print on the bottom of the front page of the estimate or realize there was a binding contract on the other side of the estimate sheet. There was no requirement to initial or sign the contract side of the paper indicating I had read it. As i said, my problem for not paying attention to the details. Thirty days later my health situation changed and therefore the unknown financial consequences of this made me rethink this project and postpone it indefinitely. When I called to cancel the Rhino Shield service I was told my deposit was forfeit because I signed a binding contract. No services had been performed or materials involved up to that time, it hadn't even been scheduled. I was told that Rhino Shield pays someone or some company a 15% commission when a contract is signed even if no work is performed. Doesn't sound like good business practice, but that is not my call. My experience with Rhino Shield cost me $900

The member contracted with us over 30 days ago and had spoke with us a couple of times regarding scheduling in November. They were changing some siding and we were coordinating our work with the completion of that. The terms for cancelling are our agreement are capitalized and in bold on the contract. We incur costs in preparing for the work to begin once a customer commits with a signed contract and a 10% deposit. We made several attempts to find a more suitable outcome - offered to lower the total investment, delay the project to next year, and/or provide a credit of their deposit amount for the next three years on any future work.

The service was scheduled and Rhino Shield started one day earlier then scheduled. The coating was applied and completed when promised. All tape used around the windows and doors was removed and taken from the property by the workers. The workers were courteous and answered my questions. I would use again if needed to update another house. The date shown below for the year the house was built is and approximate date, not certain of the actual year.

Our house is all brick with cedar trim. After applying the product, our house looks like new again. This company does it right. It costs more than regular paint, but if it lasts 25 years, as they warranty claim....then it will be worth it. Also, the warranty is transferable to the next owner.

We have a mansion that requires a lot of TLC. We had been searching for a painting company that would do more than just power wash and paint. Our house was built in 1887. Rhino Shield was the company that we had been searching for. They actually hand scraped the bad places on the house. This white house with columns now looks better than it has ever looked. We are so excited about the 25 year guarantee on this paint job. We highly recommend Rhino Shield to any future homeowners needing an exterior painting of their house.

The crew came and did three days of prep work before the actual painting. they were friendly and thorough. while the price is higher than a regular paint job, assuming the product lasts as long as the warranty, the house would have been painted four to five times in the same time frame which represents a good savings. the quality of their work was outstanding.

I was very impressed with the sales rep who came to visit us. It was obvious that he was familiar with all aspects of the operation and he had samples to show us how the process would work. A no nonsense presentation and straight talk. The office called to offer us an earlier work date. Arrived early as promised and worked hard both days. The first thing they did was to take down the Christmas lights that were still up and trim a small tree that had branches against the house. The crew of 5 was friendly and very professional. They took care not to disturb flower beds any more than necessary, and when they left they had cleaned up the yard perfectly. Work was done well and the crew chief inspected the job with me to get my OK. The house looked great and is the envy of my neighbors. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

They had a few days of delay due to the weather but when they could work, they did. And when they couldn't work they explained why and they were very valid reasons. I must say they were very dedicated to being thorough and making sure the job was done correctly. The workers listened to any comments or concerns and addressed all of them. Before they painted the entire house in the color we selected, they did a small section of the house to make sure we were happy with the color. They paid detailed attention to every square foot of the house as they prepped, masked, painted, and cleaned up when the job was complete.

Description of Work: Rudy arrived at the appointed time. He brought samples of the finish and other literature. He measured our pool house (cedar) and quoted me a price. The price includes power washing of all siding, repairing and / or filling all cracks and defects in the siding. (also filled in holes where carpenter bees had repeatedly bored each spring.). The windows were masked off. Tarps were put over anything to protect from overspray. On day 2, they applied a sealer/bonding agent to all areas being coated. After allowing that to dry, they began to apply the ceramic coatings, a tan color for the majority of the bldg. and a green color for the doors and window trim and the plant boxes and cupola. The property was cleaned up of all equipment. We inspected the job. All was satisfactory and we have received many comments about our pool house.

Our home had been scheduled to be rhino shielded during the week of August the 12th. Monday, two guys show up to power wash the home, Tuesday, one guy shows up at 10.00 and masks off the house alone, takes him all day, Wednesday, one guy shows up around 11.00 and paints the house, takes all day. Thursday, painter shows up around 10.00 and takes the masking off the house, reinstalls parts removed to paint said house. Job complete. Looks very good. Would recommend this procedure if you do not want to paint your house for 25 years.

We have a 2200 sq foot white brick ranch with black shutters and flower boxes. There were 3 men who arrived on time and did not stop working except for a short lunch. They made sure everything was protected. They cleaned up every day and nothing was left on the ground around the house. They were very through with the pressure washing and made sure any loose paint was gone. they clear coated the house with the shield and then painted. We are very happy with the job and glad to know it is guaranteed for 25 years. We are senior citizens and if we are still in this house in 25 years we will have them do it again.

Crew showed up on time each day and were careful not to spill product. The sales lady came to my house to start with and was very thorough in her detail of the product and its benefits. She explained the product has a 25 year transferable warranty and may even last longer then that. My house will look like it has a new paint job for as long as I'll have to worry about it. Cost of Rhino Shield is like two 5 year paint jobs, but you get at least an extra 3 for free! Highly recommend for anyone who wants to paint their house.

cthe salesman promised that aluminum patches would be removed. This was not done. I noticed this way too late. I should have been more proactive early in the process. Probably if i mentioned to the workers during the patch process they would have done it. Also, color did not match exactly to my old color. I missed some rain damage to rhino while it was wet on the final inspection. I would recommend close inspection of workers twice a day & close inspection on final review to get optimal job. Rhino did make a noticeable difference in the insulation & no woodpeckers on the house so far!

We removed and reviewed one of the aluminum patches covering up a large hole from woodpeckers. The hole was too large for caulk, thus the board needed to be replaced. The member did not want the extra expense of wood replacement so we painted the patch. Perhaps the member misunderstood that this was the issue with all of the holes. We reviewed the color before it was applied. It was not an "exact" match because we were attempting to match a stain. The member signed off that the color was acceptable before we applied the product. If the member was not satisfied with the color he could have made us aware of it prior to application and we could have attempted to satisfy him. The home turned out beautifully, although it appears we could have had better communication while the work was being completed. The crew foreman is at the home everyday and is available for any comments, questions, and/or concerns.

At first I was leery with several issues, especially breathability. However, I have reached the age that I can not continue to paint (nor do I want to ). After researching products, I requested three bids. The differences were staggering, with $15,000 between the low bid and the highest bid. After researching the product and reviewing costs, I selected the middle bidder, Rhino Shield. I also researched them on Angie's list and put all the not quite perfect issues as stipulations in my contract, even though they were rated pretty good. Honestly, I was a little skeptical and watched them very close. They were punctual, hardworking, courteous, and believe it or not, acted like they really enjoyed their work. Ever night for almost two weeks they were still working when I got home and paid a lot of attention to detail. Quite frankly I was flabergasted. I am sincerely grateful for the work that was done, now I just hope the product lives up to it's name.

We were very impressed with all the prep that occured before our house was painted. The paint is guaranteed for 30 years so any siding that needed replaced was replaced and they even poured a footer for one of the posts on our deck that didn't have one. They charged cost for the materials for the prep and brought us the store receipt. Their overall price was about 2.5 times more expensive than what a regular paint job would have been but we figured we would save in the long run as we now don't have to worry about painting for 30 years. The workers did want to keep fixing other things and we had them replace a torn screen to our outdoor porch but said "no" when they wanted to replace some wooden steps. Our original quote for the paint job itself was $8032. The person doing the estimates was a sales woman and she did use some pressure tactics by offering a 20% discount by "signing an agreement today." We then had a year locked in at that price. We were charged an additional $6308 for materials and labor that were needed for the prep. That included replacing the siding on one whole side of our garage and an upper level of our home as the original siding was rotting.
Description of Work: Paint entire exterior of house.

They repair work on this home stretched us to the limit of our capabilities.. We rebuilt the deck supports, poured two piers of concrete, rebuilt 10 window frame and sashes -saving them from needing replaced, reframed the screen room openings, and changed an entire wall of the home and the garage. The siding on the home was tongue and groove rustic channel cedar. Repairing it to its proper condition and then applying the Rhino Shield - it doesn't look like the same house. Best thing about it is it will look "new" for the next 25 years. We have used photos of this project in our advertising due to the dramatic difference. Thank you to the member for trusting us to improve their home.

The workers and supervisors were exellent to work with. However, we are still having trouble with our redwood siding - bubbling. Rhinoshield indicates that it will work with us to resolve the problem. We do have a 25 year lifetime warranty. They say that they will return in the spring to take care of all problems. We will let you know!

The member's home represents a unique challenge - unlike any we had encountered. They called us seekink help, other contractors did not have an answer or would not provide an estimate. We discovered their home is built over an underground spring resulting in high moisture retention combined with redwood, a siding that is the most difficult to maintain. We agreed to "test" one wall of the home with Rhino Shield. After some initial bubbling - the primer was having difficulty adhering due to the condition, we serviced the wall and waited a couple of months. The member felt confident after seeing the progress, that we applied Rhino Shield to the remaining three walls. They bubbled similar to the "test" wall. Weather has prevented us from completing the service on the home. It must be above 45 degress. We look forward to permanently eliminating what was a burden for the member. We appreciate their patience with the process.

IT was a positive experience. I set up an appointment several months before for them to come out in the spring and they did an outstanding job. They worked really hard and the neighbors all complimented the work. They have a good work ethic, are careful, and very detailed.

There are black spots on the RhinoShield siding. Initially, they continued to tell me it was either dirt or bird droppings. Then, the owner came out and told me that it was in the wood, and that the black was because of the shadows and the type of wood that was there. Now the spots are appearing on the breezeway, where the original wood is still in place. Furthermore, they did not protect the ground or shrubs when they scraped off the existing paint. My house is over 50 years old and I am worried that the paint they scraped off has lead in it. They also broke the cap to the downspout, and they continue to tell me they have been broken for some time. Also, they told me I needed to get my gutters cleaned, however, I get them cleaned twice a year after the maple seeds fall. They have not returned my calls promptly. They are acting as if my concerns are trivial. I am mainly concerned about the paint. The paint chips are not only unsightly, there is also lead involved, and I am worried about the environment.
Description of Work: They replaced a small area of the siding of the house and replaced the window frames. They also did the entire upper floor of the house, the garage, and the breezeway.
