Sales person gave me an estimate which started out at $19,000 then reduced to $15,000 and then $10,000 and then asked me to name a price within reason. My house is 66% brick! Got another quote for $3200 from another company which is Angie's List award winner. I don't care how long the paint lasts. Beware!

The majority of the work on this 6600 sq. ft. home was in excess of 30' above the ground. The estimate savings of 4000 was from his use of a 10 % coupon and his 10 % Angie's List member disount. The lower estimate was the result of removing over 60 windows from the project. Unethical sales practices are not tolerated. We wish the member well with their current paint job.

Their product is still good after about a year now, but I had an issue with their original contract. The original contract we signed was good for 25 years material and their advertisement was for a 25-year warranty for labor and material. The contract was modified after we signed-it and the owner was contacted to change the warranty to what the advertisement stated. After we signed the contract, we contacted the owner to review it. He agreed with us in what the contract should be, and had it changed back.

The member is a professional in commercial construction contracts. The member wanted specific wording adjusted and/or omitted. We reviewed it with our legal counsel who found no issues with the request. It did not alter the intent of our agreement. We are happy to review the details if asked.

There's a warranty on the paint and they guarantee is for 25 years. They'll replace the windows if there's damage and stuff like that. When I got the warranty, it doesn't say anything about replacing windows. All it says is if the paint fails, we'll replace the paint. Now that's not much of a warranty. As far as going to the next homeowner, if you read the fine print, it rolls over to the next homeowner. Apparently you have to notify them in writing within 60 days if there's a new owner. You have to be careful with that. The main disappointment was that there wasn't anything in the contract, and this was a main selling point, if your wood windows end up rotting, we'll replace the windows, but there's nothing in the warranty about that. I kind of feel like they fell flat on that. I paid for the work and everything is done and I don't have that warranty that says the windows can be replaced. It's fine, but I was kind of expecting the warranty to say that because it was a selling point. It didn't say anything about rotting windows. The person doing the work was kind of pushy. We really wanted the color right and we were told we could have any color we wanted. I held off and said we weren't using that color and so they came back with another color. They reminded me they really needed to get it done. I'm thinking, for $12000, I think they should have a little friendlier of a deal going on. It looks good except for the front door which is kind of smudged around the edges. Overall, they tape everything up so it looks good.

The warranty does not include window replacement. This has been reviewed with the member. RhinoShield is not a normal paint job, hence the 25 year warranty. When the appointment for an estimate is set, we respectfully request 45-60 minutes to provide information as well as an exact estimate. With the hectic schedules of today, only one (sometimes none) of the homeowners will be present for the estimate. We encourage that members invest the time with our estimator(with no obligation) to learn all aspects of RhinoShield. The manufacturer cannot warrant windows/doors in the same manner that it does siding. There are a variety of reasons as to why: • Windows have mechanical parts that can fail resulting in the window not closing properly. • Windows have rubber seals that can fail resulting in moisture damage. A typical window manufacturer's warranty is only 10 years on the bulb seals. • Windows can accidently be left open in adverse weather. • Windows can have moisture develop between the panes of glass and rot the window. • In winter months, condensation can form on the inside pane and be absorbed by the wood. We believe that Rhinoshield is the best solution(vs. paint) to seal and protect the exterior wooden frame and sash. If the window ever peels/flakes etc. we will repaint at no charge as per the warranty. Color choice is one of our most challenging aspects. We try to be as patient and helpful as possible in assisting our customers with their choice. We have 1500 colors to choose from and we will try to match an existing color. We provide references of homes to view colors. We can also apply color choices on your home in small areas for you to view. This was done for this member. After a couple of days viewing the first color, a second color was requested. It was applied next to the first choice. During this time, we completed the prep work and applied the primer. Several days into the project a decision needed to be made in order to move forward. We sincerely apologize if our crew foreman made the member feel uncomfortable.

It worked great. The price was high, but it looks as though it will last for quite a while. It should last for 25 years and we plan to be here, so we were willing to pay the price. The workers were very organized and left everything very clean. There was no mess and no fuss. They showed up when they said they were going to show up and completed the work in the timeframe they had anticipated. Whenever I ask them a question they gave me an answer.

We were contacted Spring '05 from the fall of 2004 completion. We inspected the home within 14 days from his call as is our policy. This home was unpainted brick, that was painted an off-white. Brick, stucco, and rough-sawn cedar can often times have the appearance of a "missed area" when in reality it is a shaded area caused by the unevenness of the surface. This was explained to the client but he seemed in disbelief. The service person called the office and asked what he should do. He was instructed to touch-up any areas that the client felt were needed. This was completed during that visit. The client signed a service competition form that the work was done to his satisfaction. Since 2005, we have not had any contact from the client. If he were to have any warranty issues, we would be happy to remedy them.

It was very, very good. They have a 25 year warranty, and they really do honor it. We have had them come back and touch up some areas we had some problems with. Our home is around 70 years old and made of stone and wood and in the Indiana weather, the repainting of our home had become a nuisance. Though it was a hefty initial investment, they solved our repainting issues, and we have been very happy with the work. We will continue to use them.

Everything went great. We were thinking about painting the house and had mentioned ceramic coating. Rhino Shield had a display at the Boone County Fair, and I signed up to be called. The salesman came over, we walked around the entire house looking for trim, etc. that needed repair. He calculated the cost and then did it again including our vinyl siding. We talked a little about color, and he left. We decided we wanted to have the work done, but it took us a while to call back. There was no problem with the price; he came back and we got the paperwork done. The work was scheduled quickly (it's the end of the season). The crew worked effectively. Having the brown paper and blue tape over the windows for a few days was like having stained glass windows. The rotten wood was replaced, the whole thing was spray-coated, and it took about a week. We asked them not to put the shutters back up. We couldn't decide about putting the old storm windows back up; so they've given us time to make a decision.
Description of Work: All rotten trim on the house was replaced, the storm windows and shutters were removed, the surfaces were power-washed, all surfaces not to be painted were covered, the siding, trim and doors were sprayed with their ceramic coating.

The reason that I hired him for such a high price is because they give a 25 year warranty, but when I had a problem (they ruined 2 doors to the sunroom) he said he would fix it. He sent someone to look at it, but we haven't heard from him since then. He never fixed it and we've never heard from him. We can't trust him. He is not honoring the warranty or I would have never spent this kind of money for painting my house. They were dishonest, and will tell you whatever you want to hear to do a sale, but do not go through with it. I want him to fix my doors and honor his warranty.

It costs more but in the long run it is great. They scraped all the lose paint. The guys were very hard working and prompt. They even did extra work for us - fixing gutters or putting up new ones. They repaired storm doors. They were excellent in terms of promptness and quality of work. The job they did was excellent. It is an excellent product and really lasts. Everyday they completely cleared the house and grounds of debris, they were very clean.

After our initial contact, the saleswoman visited, explained the process, and presented their quote on the spot. We asked RhinoShield to wait until we had new windows installed, and they easily accommodated that request. Jim Williams called to check in, ask about paint color choice, and get the timing on the windows completion. RhinoShield began the Monday after our windows were completed on Saturday. The 2 workers, Ivan and Oleg, were true craftsmen. They worked carefully at every stage.(I felt sure that paint would be smeared on windowframes, etc., but I was wrong--their work was very precise.) Many more boards on this 1984-built home were rotten than we had thought, but they worked diligently to remove and replace wood with excellent skill. When the paint went on, we were thrilled. The 2 men even hung 6 pairs of shutters. We feel like we have a new house. Now, if the paint lasts and the warranty is good, we will feel even better. With "regular" paint we'd need to repaint within about 6 years, so this seemingly high price really gets lower over time. Ivan and Oleg were kind to our dogs, including our new puppy, and the dogs loved their attention too. This has been an excellent experience.
Description of Work: They washed the exterior of the house and carefully taped off all the windows, doors, light fixtures, satellite dish, etc. At least half each window was a see-through type plastic, so at least we could see! They removed and replaced all the rotten boards they found, which was quite a lot and so added $1350 to the painting price. Once all was prepped, they applied an adhesive spray. Next came the painting, with paint mixed to a color we chose that was close to one of their colors but not quite the same as theirs. They cleaned up each day and on the last day took every scrap away with them.

The house looks beautiful now, after a few items were re-addressed. I have no desire to complain specifically in this forum, as I have seen how defensively the company responds. Bottom line, ask to see a copy of the 25 year guarantee before you decide to pay so much for a paint job. They don't send it to you until after the job is complete and I never thought to ask just what they mean by their "guarantee".

This home was last painted in 1999 and had severely weathered boards on the southern side. In an effort to avoid the cost of wood replacement, the customer asked us to cosmetically enhance the appearance of the dilapidated wood with putty rather than change the boards. Rhinoshield is a permanent system with a 25 year warranty. We cannot warranty a "putty". We caulked the cracks, crevices, and holes as best we could and honor the workmanship that was done for 25 years.

It was fine in general. They did not do a bad job. I hate the color but that is my fault. They were very nice and did a good job. I went with them because they claim their paint lasts about 25 years. It is supposed to not fade and prevent the boards from deteriorating. They also say that the paint is supposed to help insulate your home. They do give a warranty for 25 years. It took them about 4 days. Taped off the house and power washed before painting. They were good about picking up afterwords.

I signed the contract late in 2007 to take advantage of 2007 prices and had home painted in summer of 2008. Company required 10% down payment with balance to be paid at completion. They contacted me promptly in the spring to schedule a time. It took over a week to paint my house with them working every day including Memorial Day and Sunday. Most of the time was spent on prepping and repairing the wood. House has cedar siding and it took over 24 cases of caulk to cover all the seams, cracks and nails, plus extra paint due to dry wood. All windows and doors were covered before painting. After the job was complete, two walk throughs were completed with us before final payment was requested. What I liked: +The product they used is a ceramic coating that is warranted for 25 years. The warranty is transferable. I love the product. +The thorough job they did on caulking and sealing the wood. +They left me an extra 5 gallons of paint for touch up. What I didn't like: - They used sub-contractors for the actual work which I was not aware of in advance. - When the foreman was not on site, I could not communicate with the workers due to a language barrier. - Foreman was very thorough in catching missed spots but other workers were not; for example, there were some missed nail pops and dirt they painted right over and had to redo. - Clean-up was not the best, not that they spilled paint or anything, but there were food wrappers, soda cans and other debris left.

Our Cincinnati location does use subcontractors. However, they are only applying Rhino Shield 40 weeks per year. I have mixed feelings about this company. Some of the prep work was very good and some was mediocre. Many of the windows had old overpaint on the glass from previous paint jobs. Instead of scraping off the paint, or notifying me so I could do it, the crew taped over the old over-paint and then painted the trim around the windows. When the tape was removed there were very visible lines of old white and red paint from the previous paint job that had to be scraped off. On other windows, the glazing putty was in very poor condition and needed to be repaired. One worker told me he would take care of it, but he just painted over it. On one window, a 12? section of glazing putty fell off the window when the old over-paint mentioned above was being scraped off. Around the garage doors there are several areas of bubbling paint where the old paint was not properly sanded and smoothed prior to applying new paint. In addition to the prep problems, there were issues regarding the colors we chose. When I called to set appt for the work, I discussed colors with Jim Williams and was told to give our color selections to the workers who came to pressure wash the house. Jim asked about the colors and the brands of paint we were choosing the colors from and I told him Sherwin Williams and Sears Weatherbeater. Jim told me he could not get the colorants for the Sears paint because they used a different palette than any other company. I said I would find the color in a different brand. When the workers showed up, I gave them color chips from Sherwin Williams and Olympic paints and was told it was not possible to match those colors. Jim was called and I was told they could not match the colors from Sherwin Williams ? a direct contradiction from what I was told 10 days earlier. In the end, we were required to choose both our colors from the Rhino Shield color chips ? a direct contradiction from what the salesman told us last November and we had to settle for a color that was not quite what we originally wanted. During the actual paint work, the crew ran out of the trim color paint two different times and a four day delay was incurred waiting for additional supplies of paint to arrive. During that four days, very little work was done at our house. When my wife called to complain about the delay, Jim blamed us for choosing such an unusual color and complained about additional costs he incurred. Blaming us and complaining to my wife was unprofessional and irrelevant. We chose colors from the Rhino Shield selection. The salesman estimated the job and was responsible for determining how much paint was needed. At no time after choosing the color were we informed of its lack of availability or that a delay might be incurred to obtain adequate supply. The cause of the problem was solely the responsibility of Rhino Shield. We are happy with the way the house looks. Use them but watch closely. 25 year warranty - we will see.

THE MEMBER REQUESTED A VERY UNIQUE, BRIGHT COLOR (SEE PHOTO) RESULTING IN AN UNUSUAL SITUATION. THE COLOR CHOICE WAS NOT KNOWN PRIOR TO THE START OF THE JOB. “MATCHING” A COLOR HAS NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE BEFORE. THIS CHOICE HAD TO BE SPECIAL ORDERED. WE ORDERED TWICE THE NORMAL AMOUNT NEEDED. AS THE WORK PROGRESSED, IT BECAME APPARENT THAT ADDITIONAL MATERIAL WOULD BE NEEDED RESULTING IN AN ADDITIONAL ORDER THUS CAUSING AN UNFORTUNATE DELAY. THE UNIQUENESS OF THE COLOR REQUIRED MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS FOR COLOR CONSISTENCY. WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND A NORMAL PAINTING CONTRACTOR. OUR CREWS WILL OFTEN DO THAT “LITTLE EXTRA” TO ENSURE OUR CUSTOMER’S SATISFACTION. WE DID NOT CONTRACT TO REGLAZE THE MEMBERS’ WINDOWS. IT IS NOT A SERVICE THAT WE PROVIDE. WE DID REPAIR THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE EXISTING PAINT ON THE GLASS ITSELF. WE FEEL THE ADDITIONAL TIME REQUIRED WHILE UNFORTUNATE WAS NECESSARY TO ENSURE A JOB THAT WILL LAST.
